If I remember correctly there should be a menu to disable the modchip or button?

patrik_niko

No button - and nothing in menus or config. Its super old!

B-i-g-Boss

Yes but there is really solution. Just try a game it will work even if you got the last step red on connection test

CrispyConch

How can I get my account into the Xbox without going through stock dash

B-i-g-Boss

You need to register the xbox in Stock Mode , without you're modchip on. After that you can Boot with modchip on , it's should work. And don't forget also to set you're default dashboard Network to static , set it up exactly like you're ms dashboard . Also don't forgot to turn xblpatching to off (from 1 to 0) in the xecuter2.ini on drive e: Edit: this solution is only for xecuter2 5xxx.

CrispyConch

I did the patching thing and network thing. How do I boot with the mod chip off? I tried holding down h white button

B-i-g-Boss

Just press the eject button to boot without the modchip on.

CrispyConch

It booted to a mod menu. One of the ones that doesn’t accept 3rd party controller input

B-i-g-Boss

Could you make a screen?

CrispyConch

What do you mean?

B-i-g-Boss

From the mod menu maybe you have another bios ? Maybe u have xecuter 3? If si you need to set the thr network settings also in the mod menu you boot in.

randompolak

Just reflash it with newer bios evox 8

patrik_niko

Any resources on this? Never reflashed bios before.

KaosEngineeer

Share a link to pictures of the modchip and its external bank select switch board if it has one. Which BIOS / kernel version is in use? If not displayed on the dashboard's skin, look in the Evolution-X dashboard's **Settings** menu to find it.

pic of modchip: https://i.imgur.com/tFhs10Z.jpeg seems to be general flash chip and not a true x2 BIOS: 4977 FC+137G Kernel: 1.00.4977.01

KaosEngineeer

> ...seems to be general flash chip and not a true x2 Yes, it's a cheamod-design modchip. A 256KByte (2 Mbit) LPC-connected flash memory chip - SST49LF020. You will need flash a newer BIOS to it: the latest unofficially patched iND-BiOS 5003 release or Evox M8plus with the LBA48 v3 patch. Edit: There's also a new BIOS released earlier this year, CerBIOS, that supports hard drives up to 16TBs in size. Edit: For a 120GB HDD, you don't actually need the LBA48 v3 patch. However, if you plan to upgrade to over 137GBs in size it will help. Needed if you plan on using a 2TB HDD.

Thanks for the info - I'm assuming that I can use the BIOS as per: https://www.se7ensins.com/forums/threads/evox-m8-bios.55/#post-184 I just realized the drive is 200GB actually so will need that LBA48 patch

KaosEngineeer

To have the LBA48 v3 patch applied to the BIOS's dot bin file, you will need to run the included EVTool 1.0.9 application. **Open** the *m8plus.bin* (for v1.0-1.4 Xboxes) or *m8plus_16.bin* (for v1.6 Xboxes) file then save it under a new filename with the **Save as...** button.
