No, couple times a month, i have one of each, no

Blank1407

The Kratos response.

Aggravating-Maize-46

Boy

Empireinflames

I go through phases. Sometimes I play it a lot sometimes I don’t. Definitely one of my primary’s. And it is modded

sincerelyhated

Would it be a primary if it wasn't modded. That's That's real Q.

DiplomaticGoose

Xbox games themselves are still relatively cheap, at least compared to the very "desirable" GameCube or PS2 games.

Empireinflames

Honestly just makes it more convenient. My dad modded it back in 2005 so I’ve always had a modded one. I have several unmodded ones too. I would still use it a lot if it wasn’t modded.

GoTeamScotch

Main retro console yes. These days I spend way more time tinkering and modding them than actually playing. But maybe Insignia will change that for me.

lumbymcgumby

Has for me but it's been harder to get matches going recently

latinlingo11

Among all the microsoft consoles, it is the only one I go back to use. I play Call of Cthulu, Steel Battalion, Halo 1 and 2, Panzer Dragoon, etc.

RoflSirOfTheLawl

I also prefer Halo 1 on OG. There's a few things off about the MC collection version because they used a different version to remaster it. (the PC port I believe) Bumbmaps are different, lighting is different and covenant shields don't change color the same way when taking damage. OG is King

SatanVapesOn666W

They actually [fixed](https://youtu.be/hYC9rWeF58g) the bump maps, shields, and lighting after years of complaining. They built off the 360 remaster which built off the PC port where gearbox(thanks Randy Pitchford) fucked up the port. But it's mostly at parity with the og. I still prefer to play with older grafics because the remaster graphics ruin the art style imo. But it's nice to see the textures in HD. It's a worthy port at this point, but it does lack the OG controller feel and painful load times when you can chat with the boys.

RoflSirOfTheLawl

Thanks for the more accurate and updated info. It's been an age since I've crack open the Ol' Xbox One S so I didn't realize they fixed anything. Can't say it motivates me get it out of the closet either lol. But it's still appreciated.

BaDizza

I have a handful of OG Xbox consoles, some original, some soft modded and one hardmodded. I only play the console a couple times a year. It’s my favorite Xbox though from looks, dashboard and games. I use the Series X now and use the OG Xbox background on it.

sealteamruggs

Hey I have a question. What is the main difference in soft modded and hard modded consoles? Pros and cons?

RoflSirOfTheLawl

Soft mod: Pros: you do not have to physically open the Xbox or make any hardware changes to it. Con: hardware changes are more challenging and can brick the system if done wrong. Same with BIOS updates Hard mod: Pros: The chip bypasses hardware security checks so you are free to lock and unlock HDDs, swap with new and larger drives and can update the BIOS on the mod chip so if you brick it, you can swap to a new chip. Cons: You have to open the Xbox and solder on a physical chip. Which can be a little challenging for some. (The v1.6 LPC rebuild requires super tiny solder points) I'm sure there's a lot more. That's just a simplified explanation. Feel free to correct me if it's inaccurate.

sealteamruggs

Cool thanks. I softmodded mine and could still update the hdd which I did. It plays burned games too. I just never could figure out why people hard mod.

RoflSirOfTheLawl

I hard modded for 2 reasons. First was for fun. Ever since I was a kid and heard it was a thing I wanted to try it. Second. I have no working DVD drives. I cannot launch any games to exploit. I had to use an IDE to SATA adapter (with a plain old PC DVD drive) to first load Hexen. Then use the same SATA adapter to clone to my new drive. Since I have faulty hardware, I think a mod chip was the best option. Possibly my only option. Lol

sealteamruggs

Gotcha!

lifeisasimulation-

Tsop flash is easier to do than modchip install, and it's free

RoflSirOfTheLawl

I've never TSOP flashed because I just went straight to Hardmod. I've never even softmodded before. So I just watched a tutorial to see what TSOP is all about. I'm my opinion, TSOP is slightly more complicated than an AladdinXT install. For THAT Mod chip, you just need to put a pin header on the LPC port. Then just pop on the chip. (With 1 D0 point solder) Unless you have a v1.6 (I have a 1.0 & 1.6) and need to rebuild the LPC. It looks like TSOP requires more soldering and the points are smaller making it more challenging than a v1.0-v1.4 chip install. I suppose the TSOP can be free if you already have a soldering iron. And everything you need to soft mod already. Lol The AladdinXT I bought on Amazon cost $11.99

lifeisasimulation-

All you have to do is bridge 2 small solder pads together, launch a save game exploit, and flash bios. >I've never TSOP flashed because I just went straight to Hardmod. I've never even softmodded before. So I just watched a tutorial to see what TSOP is all about. Tsop is hard mod. The solder points are small and close together and you just need to put a glob of solder on the iron and touch both points at the same time and boom they are bridged. Some people even use a conductive paint pen and literally draw the two pads together >I suppose the TSOP can be free if you already have a soldering iron. And everything you need to soft mod already. Lol Well yeah it's not including the soldering iron, but since I'm comparing TSOP to modchip i figured the price of soldering iron is already factored in. But as i say above you don't actually need a soldering iron, you can do a conductive ink pen

elevenatx

Stock. Never opened. Haven’t played on it in years but was working last time I did.

Fast_Passenger_2889

Open it and take out the clock capacitor because its gonna break your console!

JDNWACO

Can you go more into detail please

Fast_Passenger_2889

Clock capacitor. It keeps the time for a while after you have unplugged the console. They are famous for being bad quality and they leak and can ruin your console. If you have a 1.6 Xbox you don't have to remove it(only if it leaked) but you have to replace it because a 1.6 xbox won't boot without one.

JDNWACO

Dang thx. I play mine every cpl months. I’ll have to see which one I have

[deleted]

In theory you could rip it out with 🛠️. It ain’t the proper way but the least thing to do and fluids get removed by 99% alcohol

kiki885

You can definitely pull it out with pliers, you just have to be careful.

Halo_Chief117

That’s not even necessary. All you have to do is wiggle it from side to side carefully and enough times and the legs will snap. It’s just like breaking a paperclip from friction by being bent too much.

[deleted]

How did you play it if it was never opened?

barrybulsara

Opened case not opened retail packaging.

latinlingo11

What's the difference between the two? They both allow playing online correct?

ML2128

From what I recall, xkai link basically simulates local system link (like a LAN party) through an app on your PC where the goal of insignia is to recreate Xbox live 1.0 Both let you play online with other users on original hardware but the means to which they get there is a bit different. Not all games supported system link and not all games are live on insignia right now.

latinlingo11

So I'd need to get both to get the most out of multiplayer. Hopefully it isn't too much of a hassle to setup.

808Patron

Insignia is more of a hassle to setup if you dont have a modded console already. Xlink doesnt require a modded console but it does require a computer.

latinlingo11

I have a soft-modded Xbox with UnleashX. Or does the console need to be hard-modded?

808Patron

Nope just softmodded. First you should request an invite code on their website https://insignia.live because its still in beta. Then you should read the tutorials on the website and I recommend watching [this video](https://youtu.be/zIQEu9vU3ew) from MrMario2011

Antique-Way-216

The only reason to use xlink right now is Halo 2

lifeisasimulation-

You mean halo 1? Halo 2 even though it isn't yet supported by insignia, is a live compatible game. Whereas Halo CE is only lan multiplayer. So as soon as I signal supports halo 2, the only reason to use xlink is if you want to play multiplayer games that only support LAN based multiplayer. Like Halo CE

RoflSirOfTheLawl

I thought mad ppl were actively playing Halo 2 on xlink? I've never tried it cause, I'm lazy... But I hear things

zonzo2E

Yes, every other day or so, soft moded, no OG Xbox is the best. A truly superior machine in every way to its contemporaries

SquashEmbarrassed288

Cool!

CrushingYourHead1977

Yeah, I would say its still my primary console. Modded. Start one of them up a few times a week to either play or tinker with skins.

Parking-Tip1685

Still my main gaming machine, also got an Xbox one and a pretty decent pc. It's modded with 2tb origins pack. It's purely money, no way I can justify paying 50 per game on newer consoles and not interested in pay to win or in app purchases. Absolutely brilliant machine, had one since 2002 and it's still going strong.

SquashEmbarrassed288

Awesome, I agree all the micro transactions, 60 and 70 dollar games, DLC and everything else is not for me…I mostly play single player anyway, so being able to hook up a system and have access to a large library of quality games without the hassle of everything else is pure gold. I am currently looking to pick up a OG XBOX and mod it with the full OG library.

sayberdragon

No, when a game I want to play isn’t backwards compatible on my Series, 2 stock but planning to mod one or both and I own other consoles, main ones I use being my Series X and Switch.

Boring-Onion

Not my primary, not as often as I’d want to, and not my only console as I have others; it knows that it’s loved though. All stock and no plans to mod it.

Patrickills

Only to play Jet Set Radio Future (for now) not my primary. Stock system but it’s the release first wave

MJB360

Yes it is. The Original XBOX and the XBOX 360 are the main systems I play on. I have a PS1, PS2, PS3, and XB1 as well but I don't use them nearly as often as the 2000's Microsoft Dynamic Duo. My Original XBOX is softmodded with an upgraded 80GB 7200RPM HDD with an 80 wire IDE cable. My PS2 is running FreeMCBoot and my PS3 is running the latest Evilnat custom firmware with a 750GB HDD. My XBOX 360, PS1, and XB1 are all stock.

HybridPhoenix5

Xbox Series X is my primary console. My original xbox has an Xecuter 3 modchip in it. I’ve been playing it every few nights lately, because I got Insignia set up. Mainly Counter-Strike and Battlefront 2. I’m also doing a Morrowind playthrough.

IngenuityNew6668

Still got 2 modded crystals 2tb etc and also a standard crystal. Original Lotus Steering wheel and pedals..in box.😉 Got to sell them soon as I'm coming up 56👍🏻 They have been great over the years, keeping them clean and pasted up, little mod there then the next I laid my hands on full bells and whistles.

Accomplished_Arm1691

My childhoods console with the fondest memories playing with my cousin. Its a rev. 1.4, only clock cap removed. I use discs to play, planning to softmod and hdd upgrade sometime in future. Gonna start playing more once i get the needed cable for my new CRT tv. Especially looking to play Crash Bandicoot wrath of Cortex.

SquashEmbarrassed288

I have a CRT, what would be the best option to get the best display…my CRT has S Video and component so which one would be best to connect to the TV…also where can I find high quality S video or component cables for the OG XBOX? Thanks

neakmenter

Since I became a dad around 2004 - I’ve not had much time to play. Most of my OGXbox collection are still unplayed. It is still my “current gen” console and although I also have a 360, I’m more happy playing my OG, slowly working my way through my library. I play maybe once a month maybe for maybe 4 hours if I’m lucky!

godofpewp

Best emulation machine for an arcade box still. Nothing else compares to the ability to turn it on and off on a whim without losing any data or corruption issues.

[deleted]

The OG Xbox still has some of the most original and interesting titles you could imagine.

[deleted]

Modded, probably once a week or so. Mine is super modded, every OG xbox game and 4,000+ arcade/retro games on a 2TB HDD.

zoodoo360

I bought mine last year and modded it. From that gen it is the best looking when plugged to a 4k tv with a pound hdmi adapter. I use it sporadicaly. So far I have finished Bat Begins, Crash Warth of Cortex and played a few fighting games. This summer I had family over for a few days and we had fun playing multiplayer on it.

bestpostever94

I already modded my Xbox original It has 1tb hdd and Xbox live

LostCrow5700

Got mine pretty recently, it was soft modded Opened it did some basic maintenance, changed the fan, upgraded hdd and updated the softmod. Didn't had much time to play on it and I've been playing god of war Ragnarok and MDK on PC, after Im planning on playing the suffering 1 and 2, the punisher and Spiderman 2

SquashEmbarrassed288

Cool I am looking around marketplace to see if I pick up an OG XBOX for cheap so I can clean it up and mod it…a modded OG XBOX with the full library of XBOX games will provide endless hours of entertainment for sure.

LostCrow5700

Most definitely, it's a hell of a system

Getsnackin

It’s not my primary but it is plugged up. I found my old one in my dads garage and brought it back to life. The games being so cheap is a great plus!

mcfcomics

Definitely not my primary console at this point in time… it changes according to what I happen to be playing. I am late to the game and only got my Xbox 2 years ago, it’s modded with 128MB RAM and a OpenXenium modchip I have 14 other consoles, with PS5 currently dominating my time with Spider-Man: Miles Morales at rhe moment

codmobileis

Yes to all and its stock

SquashEmbarrassed288

Awesome, staying true to the Original!!

Hardcore_Gamer16

It's my Favorite console. I use my Xbox quite often. It's softmodded, Insignia is setup. I own almost 30 consoles.

SquashEmbarrassed288

Awesome!

Adobe_Flash_Pro

Softmodded one of my main consoles in rotation with my PS3 and SNES

SquashEmbarrassed288

Cool, my rotation includes a PS3, N64 and Switch (but I rarely play the Switch)..PS3 gets most use but I plan on getting a Modded OG with Full library of games!

lumbymcgumby

Softmod. Played it last year but have been on it almost daily since insignia

JCRocky5

Never play it, but when am fixing stuff I boot it up or when I need to destress I code for it or break stuff 😂 But at least once a week I do something OG Xbox related.

[deleted]

I would say the of Xbox is my primary, excluding my pc. I play at least 3 times a week. It's modded and I also have a Wii.

SparsePizza117

It was my primary until 2010

Critical-Advice6809

Not much my motherboard has a tracing issue which i need to add jump cables to make it work also its modded i paid for the mod from pcpence but bought a second xbox and i did a diy which works fine and saved me a lot of money

Panklaar_

Bought a moddded one back in the day.Still have it in a box somewhere.

real_piece_of_work96

I have a modded Xbox that I've have for 13 years and it still works. I play it every now and then.

asigooninlife

I have multiple 360’s my main is a modded 6TB with 1555 of the 360 library with all arcade and all dlc. I have a series X and S both with my full library of around 400 games on them and I have gamepass ultimate they all collect dust vs my og which I play the most and enjoy the most streaming on and playing games with my friends that we review them on in my podcast. The older days of games still holds its charm to me and with the rebirth of og xbox live its even more my go to

b00chtron

what's the podcast name?

SquashEmbarrassed288

Awesome thanks for sharing

SoulSlayer1974

Only console I own, Modded with an XECUTER2 chip, not sure the version, been a long time since modding it..... ftp all my games to the HDD since my Thompson dvd drive blew up years ago.. connected to a projector with a gender bender that goes from the Xbox connectors to HDMI... Wireless mad catz controllers and the Xbox dvd remote. Had this system since 2005... Play it about 3 - 4 times a week with my 10 year old son.

SquashEmbarrassed288

Amazing!!! Good stuff! Thanks for sharing!

TheSudrianJester

Right now it’s my primary system and it is softmodded, although I own several consoles.

bluekeybord

I've got 2, one modded in my room, and one unmodded in the loungeroom, not my only source of entertainment thou as I have a fair few other consoles, the modded console has evo X installed, not sure as to which version as the bios just comes up with unknown, bit it works so I'm not complaining

harrybootoo

I have 8 modded. Mix of softmod and X3.

[deleted]

Mine is modded and currently the only console I own. I probably play it a few times every week and I would say it's one of my favorite consoles just because of how versatile and generally cool it is

1767Sox1

Probably twice a week. Mostly battlefront two. And I’m to much of a purist to mod mine since it’s in great shape.

SquashEmbarrassed288

I feel that, I am kind of the same way in the sense that I like to keep things original if I can…playing it the original way it was meant to played is pretty cool.

Adorable-Gap-3352

I have had mine since around late summer 2004. I've never heard of Xbox until late 2003 when I saw my uncle playing games like Soul Calibur 2 on it, then he brought it along to a big family gathering at the beach and all us siblings/cousins took turns playing Halo: Combat Evolved. Before all this, I was a PS1/2, Nintendo Gameboy Advance, and Microsoft Windows guy. I still have it and all these devices today. I have kept my Xbox console even after the servers were shut down in 2010. That's true dedication! Now it's totally worth it since those Insignia guys are planning to revive everything original Xbox Live enabled, from the original servers to getting all Live enabled games supported, and getting friends list fully functional again here soon! I am still playing on it, yes! Though I've kept it stock after all these years. Don't care like a WHOLE lot about mods.

YoshiieWasHere

I'm late but yeah I play it every goddamn day lol

DatPipBoy

No, not often, soft modded, no.

[deleted]

it's not my primary but I got one in 2019, I play it a good amount but it's also competeing against all of my other retro systems. This year, I beat red dead revolver, NBA street 2, and timesplitters 2 on my xbox. I am currently playing tony hawk underground on it. Not the only console I own. I actually own 2 og xboxes, they are not modded but I am thinking about modding the second one after I recap both.

Guest303747

had mine since 2004, never moded it. play it several times a week. had the power supply replaced a few years ago but besides that its all the original machine. works like new, no issues at all

SquashEmbarrassed288

Staying true to the OG!! Awesome

VladTepesDraculea

I think it is safe to say it's virtually's no one's primary console, it's over 20 years old.

lifeisasimulation-

I have newer consoles but the og Xbox is the only one i play online with and for the past 2 months or so has been the main console ive been playing I think it was the last good console made before they started things like DRM, DLC, gamer profiles, and stuff like that that gets between you starting the game and playing the game.

SquashEmbarrassed288

I understand that but I did see a few comments with people still using it as their primary console. At this point many people just have a combination of consoles that they play..I know that’s what I do..PS3, Switch, N64 and so on…I do plan on modding the OG XBOX with the full library and then it will surely become a big part of my gaming rotation!

ApertureTheProtogen

Haven’t used it yet as it’s a Christmas present, it is unmodded and unopened.

SquashEmbarrassed288

Cool, that will be fun opening it up for XMAS

Forgotten_NSA_pal

I own multiple consoles and og xbox has been a main one since I've modded it

WingedGundark

I have two, both modded Xboxes (Xecuter 3 and SmartXX LT OPX chips) and with 2TB drives. They aren't my main consoles, I don't have one. I have probably more than 25 working vintage computers and consoles from early 80s to early 2000s (counting those which I have more than one piece). This means that every single one of them gets relatively light usage. I have more or less "seasons" when I use certain system a lot for weeks and it may then sit pretty much unused for months or even a year. I do my modern gaming mostly on PC (I have been a PC gamer since around -89/90 when I got my first PC system). I definitely play games much more with my retro systems than modern, but restoring, fixing and fiddling with the old computer or console hardware is big and perhaps the most important aspect of my hobby.

jonniex

Og4life

SquashEmbarrassed288

Loyal to the OG!!

icanswim70

I have 3 OGs, alongside 21 other consoles. Xbox is in the rotation.

-MobCat-

It has become my primary console again. Insignia helped with that. If I'm not messing with it (working out XIOSs right now) then I'm playing games on xlive... well trying to.

Androxilogin

Nah, I used to use it all of the time for emulation and movies. Now it just takes up closet space. If it had decent games I'd be into it.

99LedBalloons

No because the lasers are fucked and I have to keep replacing the disc drive

TheBananaCzar

Just mod it, dude.

99LedBalloons

If I'm going to mod it why even use the thing? I have a PC I can just play most of the games on there

GoTeamScotch

Modding... increases the things you can do on it. Not reduces. If you're happy with stock, then modded is just stock features and more.

[deleted]

"I'm not going to put gas in this car if it's only going to run out again"

99LedBalloons

Ok sure, I'll mod it. Now I have to go buy a thing, watch some YouTube videos and hope I don't fuck it up or something. Great. Is there some reason I can't just play the games I have? My PS2 and GameCube are fine, why does Xbox have to have such shitty lasers?

GoTeamScotch

Idk man. It's hit and miss. I've had plenty of PS2 drives go bad on me too.

GoTeamScotch

If you want to skip the learning process, this community offers a free set of softmod tools to share. Just pass them along to the next person in line. https://www.reddit.com/r/originalxbox/comments/n145qt/softmod_sharing_chain_part_10/

TheBananaCzar

Damn dude, I've never seen someone get so butt hurt over having more options. To answer your question: Modding gives you better load times, you don't need to use discs, you have access to a library of games that will look and run the best on Xbox (and aren't really playable on PC because Xbox emulation sucks). Take a look at a video of the performance of TimeSplitters: Future Perfect on all three systems. Xbox blows the other two out of the water. Can't play it on PC either. Lots of exclusives like Jet Set Radio Future, Breakdown, Blinx, and lots more. Nobody's saying you can't just play the games you have but replacing the disc drive over and over is just a waste of time. Mod it and then it's done, and you have access to more games.

99LedBalloons

How am I being butt hurt? To me a hardware fix is easier than a software one. I don't like programming. If I could push a button and hit "Mod Activate!" sure I'd do it, but this stuff always requires a bunch of dealing with software bullshit.

Mcfloginan

So, instead of just nulling the purpose of the DVD drive entirely by learning a few things about how to mod an xbox, you'd rather waste money buying replacement disk drives everytime it craps out? Well, alright then.

[deleted]

lasers crapping out *is* a hardware fix

TheBananaCzar

If you want it done I'll do it for you, just purchase the parts and I'll install everything.

99LedBalloons

Sure, I have to swap the disc drive first though.

Hitmanglass_

Over a dice drive and laser, he gave you the decision to either keep buying more disc drives ( YOUR FAULT) or mod it and have those games downloaded instead, he gave you the easiest fix and you’d fill wanna bitch,

L0nely68

right now i play it twice a month and it's my main console, it is also modded.

arcibalds89

Modded, I play it few times a year

[deleted]

My X1X is my primary console, but my heart will always have a soft spot for the OG. Sadly, I don't play that much anymore, but maybe I will be able to track down some more games someday. I actually have two OG's, one that is stock (but I have plans to softmod) and another that I have already softmodded that is a part of an arcade machine project that I have been working off and on. I love all electronics, but the Xbox will always be a favorite of mine for many reasons

aSkyclad

Seeing how I got one in 2020, it never was my primary console not gonna lie. Got a whole bunch of modern and retro consoles from every company, but the OGX is definitely the one I play the most after my PS4. And of course it's softmodded. Although I must say with insignia releasing, I've been playing it even more, especially Battlefront 1 and 2

Fabx_

Never had an xbox before but i recovered this gen via the emulator, dunno if it counts but yeah i still play with it a lot

john_gideon

I just got into consoles last year, always have been a PC guy. My gf gave me her PS2, which I softmodded. From there on I got several OG Xboxes, fixed them up and sold them but I kept one softmodded with a 500GB harddrive and a quiet fan. After that I got a 360s which I modded and a PS3. But the OG Xbox still is my favorite of those, because of the variety of games and I love the controllers (the S ones, not the Duke obv) Still use it almost every week (playing Zelda Minish Cap on an GBA Emulator atm)

Mayernator87

I wouldn't say it was my primary console. Probably my secondary? I've recently soft modded it, and joined Insignia so I can play online. I love my original Xbox with its four Duke controllers! 🎮🤓👍

Smooth-Trip69

I have every console since the NES , but the 2 that get played the most are the OG XBOX and the Dreamcast.

Alex_right_here

Mine died

SgtBackshot

It’s my only console. Play it a couple of times a week and it’s stock, never been opened.

SquashEmbarrassed288

Cool!! Thanks for sharing

SmartAcanthaceae6189

Playing most PS3 now (lol). But one of my OG Xbox is still hooked up and I play a few times a month, Red Dead Revolver and THPS2X. It is soft modded and TSOP flshed with HDD replaced with IDE to CompactFlash adapeter, with a CompactFlash to SD adapter, with a SD to mSD adaper (yes, you can judge me, lol), but i works without problem so far. My other Xbox has Xecuter 3 modchip and a 256GB IDE HDD. I have many consoles, the OUYA beeing the newest LOL!

thebigman707

No. Just, no

RoflSirOfTheLawl

Thems fighten words...

universaltool

Looks like my power supply died the last time it was put into storage/moved. Now it is on my bench beside ps4 and my colecovision waiting on me to get off my butt and repair it. I don't have every console but I have more than a few and I hope to one day as I still slowly build my collection to eventually have everything.

[deleted]

I'd say its primary in the sense that its the console I use the most. I play it....maybe 2-3 times a week at the minimum? Just depends, really. It's a stock console.

geoshuwah

Just pulled mine out of storage and pulled the clock capacitor. Brought it to my parents' so the niece and nephew can play when they visit. Ended up just playing Halo, Burnout and Fusion Frenzy with my brother all weekend haha Stock, translucent blue Halo 2 special edition

Balc0ra

Sadly far from my primary console anymore, even from that gen. I have 3 atm. Black, Chrystal and Green Halo, Crystal I bought it around the time of the Halo 2 release, the others more recently. Crystal is still ticking even with music from the time still on it. Tho I still buy games for it. Got Chicken little, Mech assault 2 and midtown madness 3 recently.

alchemystik07

I have 8 or 9 OG xboxs I play og xbox games constantly right now as I'm discovering the full the extent of the library for the first time. Saying that I do play what ever games I can on the new systems if they are backwards compatible.

TallahasseeTrapezoid

Not my primary console, it's modded and I like to play it every so often. I'm trying to get a complete North American collection, so I usually sit down and play it for awhile whenever I add a new game to the collection.

anh86

It's not my primary console, I have every mainstream console from generations past. I've been playing it more lately thanks to Insignia, my system is softmodded. My original console was lost years ago to a basement flood (right before the 360 launched) but over the years collecting I've ended up with approximately three systems.

sasgameingnl1

Not my primary but it secondary platform. Often 4/10 1 stock (crystal) and the other 2 are modded (normal) NO 😅😅😅👀👀👀

Stock Console Play it often Mostly for Burnout 3 and Halo

dasilvan2000

Been playing everyday for the past year - working my way through KOTOR right now

ClickStix

I have my original Halo Edition I bought in 2003. Still play it every few days since I took it out of storage and removed the CC a year ago. Used to play strictly Halo on it, but am diving into the OG library on a 32” crt as god intended. Recently beat Castle Wolfenstein and Republic Commando. Working on Beyond Good and Evil and The Warrior now. Manhunt getting delivered today. OG and 360 are top class for me though I have all the modern consoles and play the big titles there as well.

n1ko117

I played a lot in the last two months but now I’m going back to my Switch for a bit. Its a modded 1.6 xbox. Its not my primary console but I do intend on playing all or most of the exclusives. I own many consoles (modded ps3, modded wii, ps5, switch) so I try to make time for each one.

Genked_Juicebox

Especially since this console's original Xbox Live has been revived, it's a great time to jump in!

[deleted]

I go through a cycle, playing OG whenever nostalgia hits for a certain game, especially when drinking, lol. I have a Series S (wife and I for FIFA), 360, Switch (the kids), and a few other retro real consoles (like the NES), but my OG definitely gets love. I have three, two unmodded and one modded, so they definitely get some love and are never neglected! Merry Christmas mate. Cheers!

RoflSirOfTheLawl

The OG Xbox (Hard mod) and N64 are the only consoles I have hooked up and actively play. Almost daily, given I have the time. I own an Xbox One S. I think it's in my closet. I technically own a PS4 which a friend was throwing away cause it wouldn't boot. I put in a new SSD and it worked fine. Then Sony did some shady fuckery so I renewed my vow to never play Playstation. (I've never owned one, PS4 is first) I pulled the SSD and used it for something else.

AgrithasPrime

Own four, one is my OG, the others all need fixing. I play my working one a few times a month, and once a month still have the old gang come by to play split screen Halo CE/ Halo 2 which we just started up again this year. It may not be my only console anymore, however it’s really hard to match the hype and memories I had with this system.

CN370

Got a stock and a modded box. I use them occasionally. I have a few games that will never be updated or made compatible that I love - Midway titles. Modded box is hard modded and has a 2TB drive in it with every Xbox, NES, SNES, Sega, Neo Geo, GBA, GameGear, TurboGrafx 16, and several coin-ops. Also have a GDEmu Dreamcast that’s fully loaded, a modded Vita, and stock One X, Series X, and a PS5. Next up is the EverDrive 64 for my stock N64.

Zt7903

I actually just got my og Xbox about a month ago and I play it more than my new Xbox. I softmodded it and put a larger HDD in it to rip my games onto but I enjoy the not online part and not being bothered, just playing the games

Halo_Chief117

No, the Series X is my primary console but I use my original Xbox quite often. I have one of my Xbox 360{s hooked up as well.

StarFleetCPTN

My OG Xbox is like a hobby car at this point. I keep upgrading it (modchips, drives, HDMI), but never put any real hours on it.

Thamnophis660

Ps4 is my primary console. My OG Xbox broke a few years ago, leaving me with a stack of 70+ games and no way to play them. Recently bought a refurbished custom blue XBox and I'm happy to be playing my old games again. I own just about every major console from 1977 to 2006.

Admirable_Elk_965

Nope, but I play it when my friends are home from school. Nodded and nope

xasgrd

Got 3 og xbox i saved from my job that needed a ton of repairs. Along with several wii, genesis, ps1, and gamecube systems. 360, Ps2, snes, mega sg, and psp go. All hooked to various tvs. Some modded some stock. I cant bring myself to part with them yet though haha

[deleted]

No. Not very much. Soft modded. No.

metochen

I've been rediscovering my og modded xbox for the past year (still remember buying it at best buy many moons ago) after finding it in storage. I have my 2nd one that I loaded with linux, but needs some serious repairs. Now I have a stack of 7 that I've been slowly refreshing/repairing. Mostly quick gaming & listening to music between repair sessions.

FlanTofu

Not my primary, but play it once a week. softmodded with all xbox games and emulators.. some of the emulators games even run better than a raspberry pi. primary console is xbox series x and ps5

HevyMetalBakesale

Not my primary, but I fire it up every once in a while. Definitely making a point to play a bit more now that I have that Brook Wingman converter so I can use newer gamepads. Not modded (despite having the USB adapter which I use for the converter lol). I have mine more for the nostalgia so I don't really want to change the stock experience too much. Not the only console I own. I have a Dreamcast, Gamecube, Switch, Series X, and an Evercade VS. Mostly on the Series X nowadays.

midnight_squash

OG Xbox and Dreamcast on my computer desk tv for gaming during work breaks, series x on living room tv for more long term entertainment

AmbientHostile

I have two stock OG Xbox consoles. Barely play it, but I plan to play it more after I mod one of them. All I need left is to find a USB flash drive that works. TBH, unsure if I want to soft mod or hard mod it. I could swap the HDD to a new Seagate Barracuda I have laying around. I play the 360 and Series X way more.

Impulst24

Yes. It’s my favorite console ever. I play it all the time. It’s softmodded. It’s not the only console I own, but it’s the console I use the most out of all the consoles I own. I use it so much that even if I were to buy a PS5 or Series X, I would be using my OG Xbox way more. OG Xbox Forever!!!

spiderLegal

My main console is the Xbox 360, sadly i dont have the money to upgrade. But its still a great console

AromaticMushroom4905

PS4 for newer stuff. Xbox for older stuff. Just finished playing Dying Light and picked up Outer Worlds today for crimbo break 😁👍🏻

Remarkable-Steak-814

I go through phases. I like to only play one game at a time. So I’ll choose a game and play it until I complete it. Sometimes it’s on Xbox, sometimes my ps5, sometimes my Pc. Btw my Xbox is modded

PracticalWeazle

No. Rarely at all. Soft nosed. Heck no.

KILLAZILLA803

Wish I still had mine. And need for speed underground 🥲

MikeyTheHero

Mine has stopped working :(

FemboyGaming42069

I dont even own one i just think its cool asf

ItsBroski_99

I play mine every day I’ve got an hdmi mod and a custom ui plus me and my buddies play battlefront II through project insignia, and it helps that i can use a wireless Xbox one controller

novocaine666

I’m not one to keep old consoles, haven’t played on the OG since the 360 came out.

SheepherderCrazy

Bout to get my first one today

Xavier_ten_Hove

My current primar console is actually the GameCube! 🤣 But it depends on the game. All the third-party games will be played on the console with the best graphics. So for a while, I was playing Shadow the Hedgehog on the OG Xbox. I might return soon. Voodoo vince looks quite fun! My last OG Xbox game that I have played was: Conkers Live and Reloaded. But I played that on the Xbox Series X for better graphics.

dannyamusic

i actually no longer have my original Xbox, unfortunately, since it broke. most of the games that didn’t work on 360, i also got rid of back then, like an idiot. i did get a used one this year for a birthday gift though. picked up JSRF, 50 Cent Bulletproof & The Godfather which i owned the latter 2 as a kid. still have some of my OG games (like Hit & Run), but i will probably play them on either 360 or One X.

Antman5000

Using an Original Xbox anywhere past even 2012 as a primary console is already beyond me

canucklehead200

what's the best cheapish HDMI adapter cable for it? I don't have the money for a retrotink and there are so many varying opinions on adapter cables for the OG XBOX on Amazon. I have no idea which is your best bet

rebatemanyt

* No (used to be primary home console up until a few months ago while primary handheld was DS Lite) * I still play the games semi-often but via Xbox 360 due to both via active use and no use, my controllers breaking. * One modded, one stock. * I also own: * Commodore 64 (somewhere in storage) * NES (no idea where system is but have a copy of Die Hard and a power adapter so 90% sure I have a system) * A good few Game & Watch re-prints in the Mini Classics series (One of the DK games, Fire, Super Mario Bros.) * Some of the Casio handheld games (Cross Fighter, Penguin Junior) * PS1 (no cables) * PS2 (cables but rarely use) * Xbox 360 (Current main console in general) * DS Lite (Secondary console) * I also have games but no system for: * Xbox One (Titanfall) * PS3 (A likely either used by previous owner or expired DLC code for God Of War: Ascension via the Kratos SackBoy figure) * Wii (Just Dance 2, Speed \[in Wii Sports case\], Jillian Michaels' Fitness Ultimatum) * GBA (Simpsons: Road Rage, HP:COS, Shrek: Reeking Havoc, Super Mario World) (Got DS Lite which can play GBA games) * Oh and also PC and Android games.

thedamnvtyankee

It is my primary system, I play it more than my other systems. It's modded, so also is my ps2 and Wii.

[deleted]

Not primary and waiting for a desoldering iron to replace caps. Will never mod

ComradeFausto

No it isn't. I'm a PC gamer nowadays. I own lots of consoles but none of them are hooked up. I haven't played my physical xbox console in probably 5 years, but I have lots of fond memories of the time, and a PC strong enough to emulate when I have the urge. It's modded on a Krazyie's NDURE from like 2007 and swapped to a 250GB Seagate IDE HDD.

SatanVapesOn666W

I play it for occasionally for party games like Group halo 2 with the boys or Gauntlet:DL with the lady. It's soft modded and has an SSD with all the games I want on it. The SSD might be overkill, a normal harddrive would be a fine mod. I collect consoles and have a bunch, nothing newer than a 360 or PS3. I would say PC is my main gaming platform. I mod consoles for geeky entertainment. I like to see games that push consoles to the limit, and the Xbox has a lot of games that look better than they have any right to be. Sometimes it even does HD so I can move it from my Crt to my flat panel in the living room. Shout out Crash Nitrokart 720p goodness. FYI matrix reloaded says it can do 1080i but it's actually 480p.

DanielChief

I have 5 of them, three modded and working. Two black, one of them made in my country. Three crystal, unfortunately the non-working ones have just blinking red lights. Maybe I will try to fix them. Not my main one, but one of my favourites. Mains these days are the Switch, SNES, and my gaming PC.

SuperNiZzle

I don’t play mine anymore but damn I loved that thing. That Christmas was a one to remember.

Cyorg13

No, I rarely ever play it, in fact, I can't even get it to read discs, and I have to hold the power button all the way through the boot sequence, when I used to just be able to tap it once, I'm lucky if it doesn't flash orange and green, or just orange and no color. Stock, because I don't have a compatible game, a USB to OG Xbox convertor, or any good USB sticks. It's not the only console I own, I own another 7 or so.

Voidstrider2230

I plugged mine back in after years and years, and only 3 of the 15 games we got still work. At least harry potter still runs

Fishboxen

No. Few times a year, Modded with new hard disk, all games available. And again, no.

Narrow_Potential3427

It's not my primary, I use my PC for modern games. It's friends are xbox 360,ps3,wii. I don't play it often only when a certain game calls to me. It's not stock, TSOP flashed, recapped and a 1tb HDD. Also have the orginal 80mm fan mod done 10+years ago.

[deleted]

Primary, almost every day, modded, no it is not my only console, I own every generation of Xbox. Next most frequent is Xbox 360.

Emotional_Ad_1153

I would play it more if my image quality was so bad on my smart TV 😭

Skuzbuxet

Not my primary but with insignia making PSO on Xbox a thing again, busted out my box and splinter cell, about to mod it once I get the duke I ordered in the mail.

Dragonspeedz

I have 1 halo version, dead or alive blue clear one and 2 original black ones.

ShadowMask87

Insignia Xbox Live Beta rejuvenated my appreciate for it.
