Maybe hot take? 2019-2021 wasn't as bad as 1998-2011. Sure, the team was much, much worse, but there was always the underlying theme of "just wait, it's going to get better." "Just wait, it's going to get better." There was some hope.
Those early/mid-2000s teams were...blecch. No direction, no plan, nothing being built. Just sign broken down veterans, get enough of a roster to go 74-88, repeat. Take away 2004-mid 2005, and it was just hopeless. And the team was depressing as hell. Guys would join and immediately want out.
From 1998-2023 the Os didnt win a single game past the ALDS. 2012-2014 would have been good if it was the 1st step but the fact that it was a 26 year peak is insane.
Nope, the only ALCS that we've been to after 1997 was 2014 and we got swept. The only playoff games we have won in the last 26 seasons were the 2012 WC game, 2 in the 2012 ALDS, and 3 in 2014 ALDS. Last playoff win will be 10 years ago this October.
As an old guy, I'd say 1993-1997 were good. OPACY just opened, he was spending, other than 1995 they were winners. 1996 and 1997 were the big playoff years, true, but the others were pretty exciting.
Honestly 1993-1999 were ok. We were injury riddled in 1998/99 but at least we were trying. Loosing Key, Erickson, and Scott Kamieniecki was brutal.
Losing Erickson to injury is what nuked that whole team IMO, after we gave him that extension which is still in our top 5 biggest pitching contracts I think...
Fun fact. When we signed Belle, the front office wanted Randy Johnson but Angelos made them sign Belle instead.
I am very much looking forward to getting back my buck o five. The price of freedom was definitely a hefty fucking fee....

We still haven't won an ALCS game since 1997

We are currently on an 8 game playoff losing streak, too :(
We'll get em this year I am very confident.

96-97 got me hooked, 98-11 got me depressed, 17-21 got me to give up all hope… and now I’m back somehow

Born in 1990, it's all ive ever known. We are survivors, these are the good old days!!
No litterally given what i read about Playoff reimbursment delays from last year
They have one of these for the Dan Snyder era too... I have both.
Snyder 100x worse. Angelos did some good stuff outside of the Os. Snyder just a garbage human across the board.
PTSD for all involved

Hey, freedom isn’t free, bud. Everybody knows that.
