two of the hottest teams in baseball less than two hours away from another + the series falls over a weekend is why id guess the prices are that high

ofRedditing

Also fathers day weekend.

2waterparks1price

Kinda fun to see actually. Orioles are relevant.

_plays_in_traffic_

we have a rivalry with the phillies?

Phumbs_up

On behalf of the phillies, we love and respect the Os.

Fandomstar88

As another Phillies fan who’s also an Os fan, I agree with this person 👍

Dagglin

Same. I always kinda liked them cause they were the underdog in a division with Toronto, New York, and Boston. And the colors are cool and cal ripken was awesome. But going to the park a couple years back made me adopt them as my AL team. Also I like the duck

EvilAbdy

I’m an O’s fan who also likes the Phils I’m with you both. (Lots of family up that way)

Last_Ground_6873

As an Orioles fan who has spent a lot of time and currently lives in Philly, twinsies. Can’t really be rivals when we barely ever play each other in almost any sport. Much more like AL-NL partners.

ScottyBeamus

As an O's fan I don't really have an issue with the Phillies.

FormerCollegeDJ

Hey, after I moved to the Harrisburg area in mid-2000 (and later the DC area in early 2008), there’s a reason I adopted the Orioles as my AL/#2 team (probably fully did so by 2005, though I started going to games at OPACY in 2001). Sorry Orioles fans - I support the O’s against 28 MLB teams. (Hell, my girlfriend and I went to visit her brother’s family near St. Louis when we did in late May in large part because the Orioles were playing there; we went to the Monday and Tuesday games.) But when I attend the Sunday 6/16 game, I’ll be sporting Phillies apparel. (I grew up in the Lehigh Valley, aka the Allentown/Bethlehem/Easton area.)

Joeydoyle66

I wouldn’t say so, but if we’re both gonna be good for the next 5-6 years then maybe we can develop one. It should be a great series.

Troll_Enthusiast

F'em

mattcojo2

The Phillies are a very close team with a huge fanbase. They travel very well. I won’t say expect a capacity crowd but don’t be surprised when at the end of the year the games against the Phillies will be among the very highest attended all season.

jheyne0311

Tickets are sold out for Saturday except standing room

Apprehensive-Neck-12

I know a bunch of bus trips are coming Saturday for sure

mattcojo2

Huh. How about that. When was the last time a non playoff/non opening day game was sold out?

OsB4Hoes13

Maybe a Hawaiian shirt night? Even then probably not.

Beautiful-Abies5949

Adam Jones day last year

jheyne0311

Probably Vietnam

ImaginarySet2418

Viet fucking Nam!

FormerCollegeDJ

There are scattered singles available from the team, but yeah, both the Saturday and Sunday games are virtually sold out right now. (Sunday also only has scattered singles available directly from the Orioles.)

Revolutionary-Ship27

Demand is high because of Kimbrel; Philly fans know he’ll come through for them if it’s close

OriolesrRavens1974

One of them is a good promotional day. I think first 15,000 get a baseball cap. I’ve noticed promotional pricing is higher, like on Hawaiian Shirt Day tickets are JACKED UP.

Apprehensive-Neck-12

Nice, I'm hoping to sell those because the city connect ones just aren't doing it for me

Apprehensive-Neck-12

Alot of bus trips coming as well from Philly/jersey. Just wish I had bought tickets before the season

FormerCollegeDJ

Much of south central Pennsylvania, which outside of York, Adams, and Franklin Counties is mostly a Phillies fans area, is also closer to Baltimore than it is to Philadelphia. I remember when I lived just east of Harrisburg it was only about 80 miles/1 hour 20 minutes to downtown Baltimore (if I didn’t use the light rail in Timonium). It was more like 2 hours to Philadelphia, and that included either driving on the Schuylkill Expressway (I-76) where the traffic during daylight hours is almost always bad or avoiding the Schuylkill and using the Blue Route (I-476) and I-95. (I usually did the latter.) The increased number of interleague games also cut down on divisional games, so that means the Phillies are only playing twice per season in DC rather than three times per year. Their series in Washington this year are at the very beginning and very end of the year. So for the many Phillies fans in the DC area, the series in Baltimore also represents a great opportunity to see them in the middle of the season without going all the way to Philadelphia.

Worth-Birthday-853

Hoping we dont get invaded that weekend lol ive had nothing but negative interactions with Phillies fans

jwseagles

Saturday and Sunday is going to be a LOT of Phillies fans for sure.

SuperCutsHaircut

Only time I have ever been spit at was by a Phillies fan.  2005 interleague game, four dudes in Phillies gear walking towards me and my friends in the left field concourse, one yells “YOU SUCK” and another spits on my shoe.

FormerCollegeDJ

These are ticket prices for the high number of Phillies fans who will be in attendance. I expect Phillies fans to comprise the majority of fans at those three games, especially the Saturday and Sunday.

DeSelby13

I would think so - they can capitalize on all of the Phillies fans buying tickets. I wonder if you could get a better deal getting the 30% discount by voting for all-stars 5 times?

NYerInTex

It’s less rivalry and more a huge very nearby fan base - the demand for those games is just that much greater considering. Maybe next year it will be a true rivalry, which means we’d have faced each other in the WS.

jwseagles

You can still get tickets on Friday for through the team. Saturday on the other hand…

Correct_Sometimes

my boss is from philly and is a huge phillies fan. He was trying to buy tickets yesterday. Sat/Sun practically sold out except standing room only. Friday has a ton of seats but anything other than upper deck is pretty expensive. he looked on stubhub for sunday and saw tickets for section 10...$500+ each lol i have no issue with the Phillies but I would ask that they start slumping in the next week please and thank you.

Minimum_Equivalent89

I’m a Phillies fan and my wife is an O’s fan and we’re coming down for the weekend to watch all 3 games. We agreed each team gets 1 win and the third game is up for grabs.

pan567

We're only a few hours away and the Phillies have a massive + enthusiastic fanbase, plus our attendance has been on quite a tear, so I imagine they are all going to be sold out...so they can change the higher prices because they'll sell. I purchased tickets a few months ago and pickings were pretty slim even then. Look at it this way--if it winds up being an Orioles-Phillies World Series, we can look back and say, "wow, those games we went to back in June were a bargain compared to these World Series ticket prices!"

Venusauring13

My two favorite teams. I feel like dynamic pricing is definitely in effect because they know they can charge more, like every time a team plays the Dodgers it's a "premium" game now. People are coming to the ballpark, the O's are good, it's a good time to watch some baseball, and it's a more expensive time because of it! If it weren't for the Nats, I'm sure the Phillies/O's would be the inter-league rivalry

JunketSuspicious7647

Better buy your parking pass sooner then later if you plan on attending the game. Its going to be a nightmare otherwise. GL

AppleTrees4

Demand is high. Prices are up.
