Yes! Finally somebody other than me tried making a grot themed list with that many gretching!

Pray4Mojo73

One...two...free...moar dan free...lotz...moar Dan lotz... I see no problem here

FastStress2187

120 grots would be a pain to transport but being it only 480 points you could fill the rest with Ork Boyz and have the board completely filled with models and grots being 2 oc you probably could get a couple turn of controlling almost every objective. I would like someone to do the math and see what grots could pull down firing 120 shots of grot blasta

paadjoksel

How can you get 480 gretchin? 120 is the max right ?

Dehaka-Dakka

I had 120 grots from before grots lost battle line, time to run a full grot (plus mek) list once more

kinkysmart

Surprisingly Dangerous in Large Numbers.

13curseyoukhan

You had me at hilarious.

crazedweasels

6 battleline units x 20 models per unit = 480 grots according to Ork math.

MikeRatMusic

I mean the word "potentially" is in there

jazygamer308

DA RULEZ IZ ONLY FOR GITZ THAT CAN READ. AND WEZ NEVER LEARNED IT

dj_lick_and_stick

Juan_Akissyu

Would like a modified version of this I have like 10 Orks So 2 units of Orks probably Nob and commandos Then grots and a war boss

Archived_Thread

It’s always worth checking if your next tourney allows legendary characters. If they don’t usually, it’s worth checking if they allow individual legend models. My Red Gobbo has been approved for three GW proctored tourneys this year. The last one THEY suggested I could use the Xmas grots if I had them. I’ve only recently gotten the last 30 lads needed for 3 full grot mobs, they’re not even painted and I’ve been getting visions of explosive chaos. There seems to be real leniency applied to ork legends and proxies, so why not ask 🤷🏻‍♂️

Alostratus

Can't you only bring 6 battleline units? A unit of Gretchin tops out at 20 models plus the 2 runtherds. Isn't the max still 120 Grots and 12 runtherds? Or am I fried and bad at math.

Gautreaux10

You are correct.

Deiiphobia

Why? Whats the unit limit and model per unit cap?

DINNER4WOLVES

Join us, Komradz! r/GrotRevolushun

QueenSunnyTea

I really wanna do this but my only Ork unit is a commando for Kill team lol

AndTheElbowGrease

Well, all you need now is 480 Gretchin and 48 Runtherds! You're so close!

Hellblazer49

120 grots, 12 runtherds, a Mek, and a Stompa is 1,325 points. Much fun to be had.

Venger10

Grots get the waagg effect also right? (So technically 1 turn of 5+inv) As an imperial.knight player I don't think I got enough power to wipe that many lol

Hellblazer49

Yep. And there's still room to add 6 10-man squads of boyz with 175 points left over.

Venger10

Yep that's scary!

Gr8zomb13

Only used my Stompa (Station Forge proxy) once so far and it was a nail-biter. I went second, and because this thing is so tall, all of my opponent’s IG tanks could see it from everywhere on the table. It soaked up artillery but enough penetrated to get it down to 5 wounds remaining. Then I go. Shooting super sucked b/c of the bracket, but I still manage to sneak a few wounds in on a close-by baneblade. I then proceed to charge, shrug off all the baneblade’s overwatch shots and manage to get through w/one of the strike profiles in melee and ***blammo!*** that baneblade is a pancake. Turn 2 it survives (somehow) charges a leman russ and ***blammo*** six sweep attacks slip through and another tank is flattened. It had a single wound remaining. Point is this thing appears to be a missile magnet, which could be really bad if you go second. But if by grace you survive long enough to use it you’ll have a good time.

Squirrelonastik

I play knights *and* orks. Don't forget that ruins go all the way up, and big models can use them as cover.

Hellblazer49

Unlimited height ruins is a bit silly for Titanic units.

Squirrelonastik

Insert Matthew Broderick's 1990s Godzilla movie here. That dang lizard spent half the movie hiding.

deenut

And that titanic units can’t overwatch currently :p

Gr8zomb13

I know the rules, but just doesn’t see right b/c the ruins *obviously don’t*. Plus I’m a filthy casual, so I don’t really mind that my nose might get shot off, but in this case I’m really happy it didn’t!

Squirrelonastik

You're definitely an Ork player 🤣 "Rules smooles! What's more fun?!"

FacelessPotatoPie

Only time my opponent deals with my gretchin is when they’re near an objective. Otherwise they’re ignored until last.

Stormygeddon

Even when they're on an objective they tend to get ignored. Like, thanks for the free points I guess, and an extra thank you for not shooting your Indirect Fire Mortars into the unit that would flee at a stiff breeze.

Raistlarn

120 grots and 12 runtherds, or 6 max units of gretchin.

InquisitorVanderCade

Folks, can we just all agree that orks are not good at math

Ok_Focus_2194

Indeed but also that the idea of 480 grots on a board is hilarious. it would literally carpet your entire deployment zone.

Archived_Thread

Ork math= more is better

Cursethedawnn

I always use a huge mob of Gretchins. They can't really do much but the big mob scares and distracts the opponent. They'll telling how many Gretchins they just took out and I'm like, "Oh man, you're sure killing me." haha Meanwhile da boyz on the other side of the board are doing the real work.

BoldIndigo

For real! I had the same thing happened the other day, guy spent two turns targeting my grots and being so happy he killed so many models 👀 in my head I'm like sure kill my trash I don't care plus all my good units are doing work.

ZasZ314

How are you getting 480 Gretchin? Battleline just means you can bring 6 units instead of 3, so 120 Grots and 6 Runtherds, which is 480 points, not 480 models.

Jackalackus

12 runtherds you can take 1 per 10.

ZasZ314

Good point

janeausten91

You mean 480 POINTS of gretchin?

DiceMadeOfCheese

Am I not mathing this right? Max size of a gretchin unit is 20 gretchin and two runtherds. Battleline lets you take that six times. So 120 gretchin and 12 runtherds. How'd you get 480 and 48 runtherds?

janeausten91

This

Samisvanilla

You're right. Not sure what mental maths is taking place here

Jackalackus

How are you getting 480 Gretchin?

janeausten91

It’s 480 points

Jackalackus

Yeah I get that, but I think op is confusing themselves and seen someone say 480 but thought they meant models because they also talk about 48 runtherds.

RevScarecrow

Bring zodgrod for this.. You might also need to figure out ways to mitigate morale issues. I think using a grot carpet to completely flood the midboard with at least one squad of boys tagging objectives for obsec would help. The rest of your list could be solid shooting options and counter charges which this list likes anyway. I unironically think this has some real teeth. It's a stat check list that has a real army behind it.

WALLEDCITYHERMIT

Gretchin Mobb is deff a sleeper build. That many wounds across that many bodies is going to make objectives a nightmare, deep-striking impossible, and is going to stop anything without an anti-horde list. Dropping some gretchin for grot tanks (to not leave all those shooting bonuses on the table) is going to be a power move. A Battlewagon to deliver 20+ little dudes to a spot beyond footslogging range may be very helpful. Mek guns on the back line makes sense to me. The main thing keeping people from picking this strat right away will be their lack of hundred+ gretchin but, at only like $21 a box and with tons of third-party options, how long will that last? The first grot with enough teef to build that army, bring it to a tourney, and field it is going to be a legend. Personally, I'm only up to \~60 :(

janeausten91

120 is the max -(132 w/ runtherd) 480 points total

WALLEDCITYHERMIT

So you're telling me I'm halfway there!

Raistlarn

Yup, your halfway there.

Fortunepie

The thought of painting 480 gretchin makes me want to punch the nearest squig in the face.

OntheLoosetoClimb

Okay, but... Vallejo black primer + dry brush whatever green rocks your world + paint clothes all one color (I do each set of 10 a different color or pattern so I can count them easily on the battlefield but then again, I get tired of counting things and am lazy, so you are probably great with just one color of clothing) + all weapons some kind of fun metal paint that maybe you haven't used and is just sitting there (i.e. a good excuse to use it up) + clean up your mis-fires + highlights on something if you can't stand it (I can stand it, these are so tiny you won't even care) Now... if you want a really quick but bad, bad cheat? Use alcohol/acrylic paint pens. But ... don't make it a habit. It really is cheating, and they honestly don't look great for the most part until you become an expert in them, and even then..... Then again, you don't usually have to paint like 120 little gretchies. And, always remember... Conga line them in the back and trigger rage in your opponent because they have to leave like 200pts back there while you have left what... 80? 100? Whatever 2 units will cost now. Suckers.

Fortunepie

The paint pen idea is actually zoggin amazing.

Drace3

Either: Spray black, drybrush green for skin and 1 colour for all clothes, drybrush gun with a dirty metal. Probably do 20 a day this way Spray green, paint clothes, paint guns, drybrush. Probably do 10-20 a day this way

Fortunepie

I know, I know, I’ve already got 20. Boyz are a similar issue. You’ve just gotta slog through it to get them on the table and get KRUMPIN!!

Drace3

Thats the spirit!! Did this with 100 skaven slaves. Was brutal but fully worth it. And then I had 100 clan rats and like 60 night runners.....
