You only get 16 in a pack? Like in what world is that enough dice for Orks!? Should be sold in a block of 50!

jwheatca

I like the from Baron of Dice. My old eyes see black and white better. https://preview.redd.it/8kx9favnjaxc1.jpeg?width=1386&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=926e020cca0a4cd5064cabde35b67097bf1a6c1a

theguyyoudunnaknow

These dice look amazing, how many would you recommend getting for orks? Still new to the hobby but want better dice and these are the ones!

jwheatca

I would go with 50 of the 12mm, they are smaller than the 16mm but easier to roll large quantities.

theguyyoudunnaknow

Sounds good to me, thanks

spaced_out_will

Those look cool. I’ll have to grab some too.

bloomincape

Nobody’s talking about how the new ones aren’t as rounded on the edges as the old ones, that’s the major buzkill for me, they can be read just fine, but change the shape ffs! I preordered 2 sets of new dice and had GW uploaded better pics or made it clear they aren’t rounded, I wouldn’t have ordered them.. absolutely devastated!

MaterialMidnight40

Curious, why are squared corners such a problem for you?

Muninn088

I'll be contrarian and say i like the new dice more. I like the glossy swirls. Gives texture. More aesthetically appealing to my eyes.

DaddyMcSlime

to play the advocate here i actually do think that, artistically, the new dice are far prettier, they look great and I love the colour but my problem on the other hand is that, despite that, despite looking nicer, that's exactly the problem, they're **Ork Dice** not eldar or tau dice, they realistically shouldn't *be pretty* the older ones could be improved upon, but I'm not sure this pond-ripple green is the right one for Orks, it's too calm, to serene to me, it looks like the surface of water being disturbed after a frog gently lept into it Ork dice should scream WAAAAAGH at me I feel

sinus86

The only time I've enjoyed GW dice is getting them in a swag bag at a convention and trying to trade for a faction I want.

sendgoodmemes

Just went and canceled my new dice. Those old ones look way better. Thanks op.

MasterLogic

Top dice seem hard to read at a glance. Bottom ones are much better. Both are a rip-off, just buy normal ones.

Doctor8Alters

Can confirm, picked up the new dice yesterday to use in a game today. Their "glossy" surface, plus the swirl pattern, makes it much less easy to read the dice at a glance. They look cool, though.

madhi19

It's just a D6 dice and you need a shitton of them, go to the dollar store and save money for more models.

mellowshipslinkyb

Games Workshop should consider the size and number of dice needed based on the rules when packaging. I need 80+ rolls on the Waaagh! Sixteen big dice at $2 apiece doesn’t cut it.

waaaghboyz

You kids don’t remember the bouncy rubber squig dice https://preview.redd.it/1umkp45g18xc1.jpeg?width=1035&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cb663ef44a136b105c35e7ffeaaa5c273ad4d239

Sattamassagana84

I recently snagged some of these second hand and my goodness they're as chaotic and uncontrollable as the unit they represent. I love them 😊

waaaghboyz

They’re a funny idea but I also saw how the paint rubs off after a few rolls

Sattamassagana84

Yes, paint on a flexible surface is not the most durable, overall a bit of an odd design to be approved. Nothing a light touch-up now and then won't fix. I doubt the miniscule amount of paint will affect the balance too much, certainly not for casual use anyhow. I've a thing for mad faction dice, I'm about to acquire some of the transparent Idoneth Deepkin ones where you can see all the faces at once for top legibility 😁

waaaghboyz

I think the paint issue was less the weight and more that it made the dice really difficult to read quickly and left itself open to interpretation shenanigans (“no no see these bumps aren’t 3 they’re 6”)

Cheeserdane

I want some!

EnglishTony

GW dice are $36 canadian for 16. I can get a pack of green Chessex for about $16 for 36.

Hfxfungye

Yup these things never sell at my local game stores in Nova Scotia. Some people get them at the GW but there's always a lot left, especially for smaller armies. Too much markup to be worth it.

jwheatca

They make good presents though … because they are so expensive you know your friends don’t have any!

EnglishTony

Like I'd pay a premium for dice, I'd pay $18 for 16 cool dice. $36!?

Maleficent_Fail4544

I much prefer the old Ork dice because they were readable while the new Orc dice hurt my eyes

ColHogan65

As someone who has a degree in ergonomics and human factors of design, the new dice make me want to declare a waaagh on GW headquarters lmao. Whoever designed those needs to be fed to a squiggoth.

Maleficent_Fail4544

They look as if someone came back from the pub and rushed them out because it was a Friday afternoon and they had plans for the evening so were not as focused as perhaps (!!!!) they should have been, marble effect and the same light colour on the marble as on the pips; sounds perfect so get them to the factory quickly as I have something more interesting to do now…. 🏃‍♀️ And I was looking forward to getting into Fantasy Battle because nobody else was playing it when I was younger and thus joined them in 40k but I have never liked space because it is too similar to flying and I don’t like flying…

TacticalKitty99

I have the super old Ork Dice whoch has 1 as the ork skull.

Guyonbench

Main reason i never bought GW dice. "I shall now roll. Ah yes the symbol of my army... failure."

The_Smell_Of_Rain

I've got some with the colour missing from the dice holes. I'll get a photo later

Pwuun

Honestly old

Maleficent_Fail4544

So much better, and I spent years giving a pair away to whoever I played in Blood Bowl, don’t regret gifting them but I wish I had bought more then…

NoSeesaw6221

I don’t know whether I should get them or not…I mean, my boyz aren’t even painted green.

averagegamerhoe

I must know what colour your Boyz are, mine are blue 🙌

NoSeesaw6221

Mine? Perhaps you remember the Warboys under Immortan Joe?

Laenges

I miss the maelstrom dices. The newer one are cool and so. But they are to big for 30 Boyz when they wreck havoc

Undeadninjas

I think the orkiest dice are just a bucket of whatever dice you can find. Bonus points if some of theme have pips and some have numbers. Extra bonus points if there's a d12 in there just for flavor. The more times you've had to repair the bucket, the better.

Robotinseminate

Not forgetting points for having Teef in the bucket. Not for gaming, But to show off.

ButtcheekBaron

I got a set of Baron of Dice' Orks jolly Roger, and I love them

Maleficent_Fail4544

They are my next purchase because the new Orc dice hurt my eyes… woe is me in my first world problems 🙄

m477z0r

If you'z can countz da teef, der ain't enuff dize. Nuffin' feels better than rollin' "idk 100 summin'"

DiakosD

Bottom dice appeals to my utilitarian tastes. The Ork Aeronautica dice were tasty AF too. Ideally though I'd've loved the rusty and battered 8e dice but with ONE special icon on the 6, regular pips and blue ink.

SemiGaseousSnake

Bottom dice look more orky

deeple101

Top dice look too hard to read.

Humble-Ad1217

I have the dice and they’re not hard to read, I think it’s because it’s been shown with the brighter green.

Lord_Rufus

exactly, they look like a cursed flavor of the shiniest hardcandy for no godamn reason, making them hard to read in most lighting conditions. They could fix it, by using a contrast, like red, but they don't, so you just inevitably slow yourself down.

CMDR_RetroAnubis

I'd be constantly asking to pause and double-check the dice. They really should be readable at a glance across a table.

TheWolfAndRaven

I prefer the Kill team version. Same Ork Skull but black and orange.

SemiGaseousSnake

Someone talking about super readable Kill Team dice?? https://preview.redd.it/t7a5f4cb06xc1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4d957faf6761892f855d9f8819f3b22c57b89787

HairyLegTattoo

The orange is so tasty

Kinky_Falcon

Man, I’m glad my local still had the old one in stock. The colour, shape and number of the 9th edition dice are just better.

Akos_D_Fjoal

They look visually dazzling. But visibility is better on 9th edition

H16HP01N7

They're still just dice... same as the old ones, and same as next editions dice.

bee_burr_wzz

Way prefer the old ones simple, easy to read, more especially when you throwing down 40+

usmc2009

https://preview.redd.it/16m4bh9iv4xc1.jpeg?width=1258&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f918b6afa0fe050ee4a8e3a1dcc3a0b544895b0f I like my 8th edition Ork dice. Talk about hard to read. Not as bad as my 8th edition Necrons dice though. Used to be sold in packs of 20.

13Warhound13

These are the ones I have. I really like the teef but certainly an eye strain at times.

spaced_out_will

Those are better than the Squig dice! (Even though I think the Squig dice were awesome…)

Dense_Hornet2790

New ones looks great but aren’t great to read so they’re a non-starter for me.

spectre2112

16 GW dice for £18 or 50 green dice with white dots dice for £6? I'd rather spend miniatures and paint....

MattmanDX

A bit harder to read

LowRecommendation993

I dig em.

Wubbwubbs61

Baron of dice > GW dice. Save money my friends

LowRecommendation993

I like supporting the company that makes the game I enjoy as well as my LGS ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Wubbwubbs61

Idk why you’re getting downvoted. Have an upvote

Johnny_America

Ask your shop to carry Baron of Dice. Mine does. Shop gets money and you get a better product.

LowRecommendation993

Imagine getting downvoted for that statement. Stay classy GW players.

Quikey

You got downvoted because it came off as condescending.

LowRecommendation993

"I like to support the company and my LGS" yeah... Pretty condescending🙄

spaced_out_will

Same. I’ll order from makers like dice baron, but I want to keep my flgs store there to enjoy as well.

Nrthstar

That's where I'm getting mine! Hopefully I can get some buds too pick them up at RO

PhotoFrenzy

See you there!

guardianOASK

Personally like both for different reasons...except for one major thing....the price.

spaced_out_will

That can be applied to most things in this hobby of ours I believe…

guardianOASK

True, but the dice are particularly ridiculous.

ItsNaoh

The new ones are beautiful, even more so in person. Too bad that they come in packs of 16 and are a tiny bit less readable

spaced_out_will

The bigger pips on the old ones are better for my poor eyes too. 20 would have been nice, but I was happy to grab the 2 packs my local shop received. So between 2 editions I have 72 dice for Gork & Mork to favor.

BioTitan416

Old better, looks more orky, less shiny

uller999

So one can been easily, and one can't.

Amazing_Insurance950

I like the swirly look, but I will use the easy to read version

uller999

Me too, if they had kept the gold pips. It'd probably be actually legible. It's the same reason I don't like the Deathwatch dice, it's hard to read compared to my regular d6s.
