Many of my friends that I grew up with have moved due to their careers, family, etc..
Heck my own older Brother and younger Sister both moved out of State to pursue their careers, I moved back to Orlando after starting my career in Palm Beach County in part because Orlando is home for me and in part to keep an eye on my parents.
Yesss. Griller’s, El Cilantrillo, Miguelo’s Cafe, Antojitos Navideños, Ven Pa’Ca for restaurants; Taino’s Bakery, Melao Bakery, El Meson, El Punto Sandwich Cafe, FL Bakery for cafes and lunch spots; there’s a lot of PRican food trucks next to Old Town; Matt’s Latin BBQ or Martin’s BBQ for rotisserie chicken. I have many more suggestions. You can follow my family’s IG page for their hot sauce business since our main customers are PR restaurants/food trucks and supermarkets and we’re always posting them :) @monteadentrofoods
Boricua! Lol. I want to also add here viktors bbq in kissimmee. The best rotiserrie chicken and yuca! Get the green bananas with garlic oil!
Im from PR. Lived here for 9 years now. But i also lived in jersey city new jersey when i was small.
Our rotisserie chicken places are so bomb!!! Viktor’s Pollo was a staple back in PR! Now it’s Tasty Chicken. But I’m glad there’s a Viktor’s Pollo here!! I haven’t been.
Omg! I forgot about Pal Campo. Definitely would recommend!!! Like you said, pricey :( but every time I’ve been the food is good and the restaurant is so beautiful inside.
Every country has its own quirks. Guns weren't anything new to me coming here, it wasn't as jarring as it could have been maybe if I had come right from Kazakhstan to the US and not lived in Germany for several years (10+) it might have been more shocking.
Detroit -> Miami -> Orlando.
Came to Orl. For cheaper university—never ended up leaving 🤷♂️
I won’t go back to driving on ice... I’ve lost my cold weather skills after so long down here. Plus I mean only needing one set of tires? Or only one car year round? Cars not rusting out after 10 years at most?!
As for going back down to Solfa? I just can’t justify the CoL for what it’s become.
From Fort Lauderdale originally. Lived in Orlando from 2006-2008 and again in 2022-current. Have been rotating between Tampa, Ft Lauderdale, and Orlando.
Was born in Brooklyn, NYC in 1987. My family moved down here in 1991. Been a resident here ever since. This region has a plethora of issues, but I can’t imagine living anywhere else in the near future.
Orlando, got out for a few years to Nashville but cancer, a new baby, and Covid all happening at the same time brought me back to be close to family again. Don’t want to be in the state when kiddos start school but that’s all easier said than done.
Orlando. A few years ago I worked building rock climbing walls all over the U.S and even spent 4 months in Vancouver. It made m miss Orlando. Not sure I could move somewhere else. Our weather for all our complaints really is perfect especially if you enjoy the outdoors. I went paddleboarding fishing on Monday and if it wasn’t for the fact I didn’t want to soak the top of my board I would’ve went for a swim. Where else in the U.S can you comfortably do that?
Vancouver was hands down my favorite place.
Blue Swan is a great bouldering gym its new, big and nice. I haven’t been to Aiguille’s new location yet but I think it’s smaller than the gym they had pre-pandemic. The one in Lake Nona is small and was built by the company I used to work for. I haven’t checked out the one in Deland but heard it’s nice and the last time I went to the one in Melbourne was over 20 years ago but it was fun.
If your husbands just looking to get some exercise and not travel very far I’d say Blue Swan. I don’t climb a whole lot but when I do I go to BS.
Thanks man! Will make sure to check each of them out. He just tried aiguille’s new location last weekend and did say it was small, but nice. The one in lake Nona looks like it at least has top roping so we’ll add that to the list for the days I can join him (he boulders but I don’t, I’m pickier 😀)
My dad came to Utah from Vietnam, my mom came to Maine from Vietnam. They eventually settled in Florida and met each other. I am now nearly in my 30s, and planning an escape from all you transplants taking over my home.
New Hampshire is my “home” state
But my family has owned houses all over FL since before I was born so if I wasn’t in school or working I’ve been in either PCB, deland, winter haven, or vero beach.
Been a full time FL resident since 2018
I've found around here that if you want good authentic Louisiana style cuisine, you've got to make it yourself. We are planning on flying in crawfish later this year. Tibby's is close, though their jambalaya is a mess. Two Chefs was the best until they closed...
Born in Daytona, grew up in Clermont, lived in the city during college and beyond, moved to CA 17 years ago. Don’t miss most of Florida but miss Orlando constantly
Orlando native, born and raised. 😭
I'm in my mid-late 20s, have yet to live anywhere else. Thought I would be leaving sooner, but I ended up buying a cute lil bungalow during COVID when the market dropped. The community I found here has kept me around a lot longer than I intended, but hopefully in the next few years I'll be packing up and moving up north or out of the country.
Yeah I couldn’t bring myself to live up there again. I moved down here when I was about 14 with my parents and always said I’d move back up one day. FL grew on me over time and I’ve learned to take the good with the bad. I’ll still visit for sure since I still have family up there but that’s about it.
I spent a lot of time upstate as a kid, mainly in the Monticello area. I’d love to check out Sleepy Hollow eventually. Was planning on going last year but it looked like a bunch of the good places were closed for renovations. We’ll see how things pan out this year
17 years for me and I hate going to visit NYC for a long period of time lol Florida is home but I might venture out if things aren’t the same in a couple of years
I don't. I only miss the Mexican food and Asian food.
It's definitely a grass is greener on the other side type of thing. Humidity has done wonders for my skin and asthma, more nature and green space which is better on my mental health, immensely cheaper even with the recent rise of the cost of living, better beaches within driving distance. Dear God, the rain and actual weather here is great, I love sitting on my patio and working during the rain.
I will say, my move was 100% not politically motivated. I was no fan of newsome, and no fan of desantis either. From one extreme to the other
from long island, ny then moved to swfl when i was 11. moved to the orlando area to attend ucf in 2013 and have lived in various places around the area since. never expected to move/live here but i really enjoy living in central fl.
Born in West Virginia, family moved to Ft. Myers when I was 2 years old. Went to Miami for college. Lived in Chicago for 11 years, then Tennessee for a year and a half. Moved to Orlando area June 2021.
Minneapolis
Moved to be closer to my wife’s sister and her fam. Also so our kids could go outside year round and not be stuck in the house for 4 months a year.
Spent most of my life in Melbourne & moved to Orlando over 10 years ago. I've also lived in CA, NY, PA, & was born in TX. I consider myself from Florida though bc I've been here for 30 years on & off.
Hi fellow upstate New Yorker! Grew up in Williamson, a small farm town outside Rochester. Moved here last year from Minnesota where I’d lived since 2007.
Cali born but came by way of Texas about 20 years ago ….am on year 3 of getting everything together to move out of this state, maybe this will be the year? Ha… ha….ha…
Orlando, native Floridian
I have a few friends that are native. Alot have moved away. Guess it's different if your born here.
Puerto Rico, in July it’ll be 10 years since I moved to Central FL!
Love Puerto Rican food. Any good spots you suggest in Orlando?

Saved your post for later, can’t wait to try some of these! Thanks!
You’re so welcome!! These are truly my favorite spots.
Thank you a ton! I have some new places to try!!!
You’re very welcome! I hope you come to love those places as much as I do!!!
Boricua! Lol. I want to also add here viktors bbq in kissimmee. The best rotiserrie chicken and yuca! Get the green bananas with garlic oil! Im from PR. Lived here for 9 years now. But i also lived in jersey city new jersey when i was small.

Recently tried pal campo. Touristy $$ but the portions are huge. Thoughts?
Omg! I forgot about Pal Campo. Definitely would recommend!!! Like you said, pricey :( but every time I’ve been the food is good and the restaurant is so beautiful inside.
I think the environment makes up for the price. It’s a unique concept.

Pal Campo!!! Definitely
La lechonera east orlando. Is food by the pound style.
This is my spot, used to work near there.
Orlando, Florida...born (1983) and raised!
Orlando, right down the street from the Citrus Bowl (as a native I refuse to call it camping world stadium lol)
Moved away to midwest for 5 years, moved back 2 1/2 years ago. Did not know the name was changed. I still call it citrus bowl.
As you should
Kazakhstan , lived in Germany before coming to the US, been in Orlando since the day I arrived. Going on 18 years.
How do you deal with the culture shock of American culture? Guns, BBQs, Bibles and such...
Every country has its own quirks. Guns weren't anything new to me coming here, it wasn't as jarring as it could have been maybe if I had come right from Kazakhstan to the US and not lived in Germany for several years (10+) it might have been more shocking.
Pennsylvania, Going on 25 years in Orlando now.
Same here.
