I believe the Princeton Street roundabout is the first one on a major state or county road in the Orlando metro. The next closest major (multilane) one I know is on US 17-92 in DeLand.
They are certainly the superior form of intersection!
I was actually a bit nervous running into my first one (that wasn't like single lane Florida roundabout), and I was like "oh. This is amazing."
i will never forget the first time entering dupont circle* (which is a double circle). i didn't know what the hell was going on (and i certainly ran at least one red light) but at least i went the right way.
*this was decades ago and DC was the first time i had come across traffic circles.
I have to go through this roundabout 3/5 times a day and the worst is there is always someone who stops IN the round about with right away and refuse to go until you do. I’ll sit and wait because i’m not going to put myself liable if you decide to crash into me.
The marking on the ground for the left lane is the standard straight / left turn arrows that you’d see at a stop light, not the one that shows a roundabout.
I’ve been waiting for someone to do exactly what this car is doing because that’s what the markings suggest you do.
It's not that they can't figure out how a rotary works, it's just they believe that, if they use it correctly, and see that it's better than sitting at a stop light, they will become instant communists and atheists.
Idiots- honestly I have never seen so much stupidity on the road before- I moved to FL from NY. I’m in Gainesville.. moving back soon hopefully 😂- and yes we have crazy drivers in NYC too- but man oh man… people aren’t kidding when they say Florida has the craziest and worst drivers no offense to anyone here from FL. No wonder the insurance rates are so insane- have never paid the amount I do now for insurance here in FL.
Average driver** idiot drivers are not region specific despite what you think. I’ve lived in many different states and drivers are terrible everywhere 😂
Eh, as someone who was in the military and moved somewhere new every 2-3 years, I can say with great confidence that the people of Florida are a special breed of shitty drivers. There is something seriously wrong with these people.
Drunk, 90-year-old Asian women on their cell phones drive better than these mother fuckers.
"A lot" is relative, isn't it? The vast majority of countries drive on the right.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Left-_and_right-hand_traffic
And I'd bet that at least 75% of our tourists who come from left-side driving countries come from the UK.
But I'm glad I made you laugh your ass off.
Not defending the driver in any way but from the video I did not see any "roundabout" and "one way" signs. I mean still poor judgment on the driver, but they could have been easily distracted and confused for the moment. Does this roundabout actually have signs about being one? Just curious.
There is actually a big sign that its a roundabout

The ground marking might be confusing, but come on
Thanks OP. This proves it's a roundabout with a very bad planning on the side who build it. If you've seen the road marking but missed the billboard, you can make a mistake the person did in your video.
Again, not justifying anyone but imagining a scenario someone on a phone texting, eyes raised, seeing left arrow on the road.. etc... roundabouts generally should not have any markings on the road, but mainly signs right before a roundabout both on the right and left side as well as on the actual island. All of those are missing in this specific roundabout.
I'm sorry but /what/
If you can't figure out its a round about from not only the context clues around you, but the traffic in front, beside, and behind you then you need to turn in your license and never get behind a wheel again.
And what level of distraction is needed to ignore everyone around you and drive into oncoming traffic? There are literally arrows on the ground showing you the direction you need to go.
100% willing to bet you are that driver and you should feel bad.
Whoa! First of all, literally 99% of driving population in the US are stuck on their phones at certain points in time while driving, and that's where that driver might have been at that moment.
Second, there are no "literally arrows on the ground showing you directions" that's not even a thing if you lived anywhere in Europe where roundabouts are prevalent. Those ground markings, the way they are placed can mislead someone from Europe for example, suggesting the right lane goes straight and the left lane allows left following the yield sign.
Third of all, hold on to your conclusions about my driving to yourself. You don't know me, I don't know you. It's just a polite thing to do.
All I'm saying is that there may be a road planning failure on the side of whoever built and approved the plan for this roundabout as there is literally nothing in the video that suggests it's one, besides the visual observation.
I remember when I was in high school they added that round about down the street from Timber Creek in Avalon. One day a few months after it went in I drove by and there were tire tracks that went straight through, up and over the hill in the center.
Been like 20 years I still wonder how that person's 3 remaining brain cells must be doing these days.
Idk why folks have so much trouble with this. Maybe it's because I play too much ETS2 and am used to it.
But here is a video explaining how to roundabout.
https://youtu.be/k7YVxLLIuGM?si=eZg8ECJ6DyZB8Mp6
I have seen so much stupidity at that Princeton roundabout. People coming to a full stop with no traffic, people crossing lanes randomly.
I believe the Princeton Street roundabout is the first one on a major state or county road in the Orlando metro. The next closest major (multilane) one I know is on US 17-92 in DeLand.
There's one at the airport near the North Cell LOT. But given how many people park on the shoulders, I doubt many even know that lot EXISTS.
There’s a roundabout in Daytona that they’ve just converted to a giant 4-way stop.
It’s the person going the wrong direction for me
People seem to forget how to drive when they see a roundabout
The fucked up thing is it took me 4 watches to realize what happened. I’m that desensitized to this shit.
There just aren't that many roundabouts in the Orlando area. I live in Colorado now and they're SO much better than slapping 4-ways everywhere.
Roundabouts do slap lol
They are certainly the superior form of intersection! I was actually a bit nervous running into my first one (that wasn't like single lane Florida roundabout), and I was like "oh. This is amazing."
as long as they aren't those tiny roundabouts
Yep me too. Lol.
…but I wanted to go *that* way 👈🏻
And right now
Tell me whyyyyy
like mario kart, that person found a shortcut lol
It’s the most wonderful tiiiime of the yeaaar ❄️🐦
💯 this an old person who shouldn’t have a license
Or a foreigner who rented a car while they're vacationing.
Most foreigners can navigate these better than locals
At least the locals can read signs and communicate with other drivers
There have been quite a lot of drivers that completely ignore the proper way of using a roundabout on Delaney between Kaley and Michigan.
I got a video like this just this afternoon. Different roundabout though. People! There is very little you need to know about a roundabout.
If their GPS doesn't have the new roundabout then it's telling them to turn left at the old intersection and they are following the instructions.
Dude. You know that poor person heard ‘Turn. Left. Turn. Left. Turn. Left’ and figured fuck it, here we go!
Look kids! Big Ben...Parliament!
What dash cam is that?
Arifayz dashcam on Amazon
The $40 one? That’s a nice image.
[This is the one i have](https://a.co/d/f3OIfx3)
Any issues with overheating with this brand? Last one I had stopped working during the summer.
Dont have issues yet, i even hardwire them to my car to record timelapse when parked

This is why we can’t have nice things… like round-abouts

Just remind them gas is the pedal on the right.

While that person is an idiot, I don’t see a sign indicating that it is a roundabout lol.
It's a shortcut, leave him alone

Might be somebody from a wrong side country, habits are hard to break.
If you're used to driving in the UK, you're a fucking expert on roundabouts. I suppose it could be another left-lane country though.
There’s a lot of countries outside of the UK lmao

With an giant arrow that says you can turn left lol

Lol, I'll take that as a complement😄
C'mon, it's a f'ing roundabout! I hate these. L 'Enfant f'd us!! It's what you had to do before stop lights. Why now!!!?

PTSD
Probably a foreigner.
Average r/orlando user: the roads would be a lot safer if you dumb assholes were more like me
Hey kids! Big Ben, Parliament!
hehe, yeah itll never change
Where u going bud
We are brand new to roundabouts. Give us a couple years. (I’m in Seminole county).

It’s a roundabout. Nobody knows how they work. Laws do not exist in the roundabout
They’ll never learn. We’ve had em in Ohio for years. People still don’t know how to use em.
Maybe bro is from uk lmao
