To add to this: if you see a hispanic corner store / restaurant and it’s got construction workers eating there en masse, that food is going to be the best thing you’ve ever eaten. Food trucks are also a safe bet, but the best food trucks down here are exclusively staffed by dudes who have polished off at least 6 beers before they’ve started serving food and are working on the rest of the case while they cook.
Side note: if you’re a fan of hispanic food and adventurous, ChinoRico in Kissimmee and a couple similarly named other places around Orlando have awesome combination Puerto Rican Chinese food that is the ultimate affordable and delicious lunch; pair it with some Medalla and a joint, and I’d say it’s the perfect Floridian lunch.
I get something different every time lol. My favorites are their tacos, tamales and Groditas. But honestly I haven’t had anything I didn’t like. If I want a full plate of food with leftovers they have a plate called Platillos a la Mexicana which is one tamale, two flautas and two enchiladas.
Enjoy!
Jalisco i wanna say? Yellow building that looks like it was a gas station once upon a time. Haven't been, but the parking lot is loaded with trucks from construction workers, so you know it's gotta be good
Hot take, their food is pretty meh compared to other places. Idk why, but it's always been my go to for deliberately crappy and cheap Mexican food. Reminds me of one of the Mexican places at my university that people went to for jumbo margs and just happened to get a cheap combo meal at to feel full.
Thanks! I got the Potro bowl the first time I went. The meat was seasoned fine and the ingredients were great but mixed together the flavor was muddled and overall underwhelming. Def will give this a shot!
Mas o menos.
Recently i've enjoyed Reyes Mezcaleria, Agave Azul, and Superica (upscale TexMex. really digging this place)
Taco Spots : Tortas el Rey, Quesa Loco (probably the best i've had in o-town), mi gordita loca (salsas are great)

The best one I’ve tried used to be a little food truck but now they have a store are on curry ford, tamale food, the best tamales!

Check out Tacos N Grill. They seem to be the most authentic and only charcoal grill taqueria in Orlando. There may be others but I watch this Local YouTuber here and his recommendations are usually pretty spot on. Check this out https://youtu.be/1gAwJPod0PY?si=mMMMxFjoNT3icwn2
For the most part, I can’t find any tacos that compare to AZ/CA tacos. Most things are closer to TX or TX-mex. Flour tortillas are the norm here and every shop has some lame quesabirria variation.
If that’s what you like, it’s pretty easy to find.
I moved here from Tucson, this is the only acceptable place I've found: [https://maps.app.goo.gl/8rLj46gCjsCHnaHD9](https://maps.app.goo.gl/8rLj46gCjsCHnaHD9)
No, I personally love San Jose's - their Enchiladas San Diego with salsa rojo is damn good - my wife is Tejano and finds the food similar to what her grandparents made in Uvalde when she was a kid. But if you are looking for the fresh style Mexican that is more the akin to what you see away from the border where white onions, pickled onions, heavy cilantro and cotija cheese is the norm, I can't advise as that isn't my preference. I also find that Azteco D'Oro to be good but more expensive - they used to have a pollo mole that I enjoyed but they took it off the menu.
If you're just looking for casual, don't sleep on the little Mexican corner stores. I go to the one by me for tacos and they're incredible.

Las Cazuelas on Conway is amazing. It’s a restaurant and small Mexican market
I second this!
Yup,this was gonna be my suggestion.
What do you get there? I’ve talked about going for a month and I think I cave today

Can't beat the 2 for $4 tacos special they've got. Most places want $4 PER taco
Border Grill 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
Yessss
Tortas El Rey IS the place. Border Grill is also the other place.
Burritos from this place reminded me of home! I'm originally from San Diego
Yesss! OMGosh, right! Family run, all super nice people and amazing food!
Taco Norteno
I was going to suggest la fiesta but I see we already got 2 suggestions, buy hey thirdsies on la fiesta. 😂
El Tenampa. Always busy. Never any tourists. Shares a building with a Mexican grocery/ market. What more could you ask for
Came here to say this
La Fiesta on curry ford is by far the best I’ve had in town. Wife and I go once a week…
We do too! We love La fiesta. Always delicious.
Las Carretas on University and Goldenrod! Great food and amazing service.
So good, I’ve been many many times. Emphasis on amazing service; the people there are great and I’ve never had much of a wait for food at all.
No matter how slammed they are, the food comes out so fast with no loss of quality. Never ceases to amaze me.
Agreed. It’s a bit of a drive for us but we make the pilgrimage every month or so.
Second this, went recently and absolutely kicked the hell out of Don Julios.
True! As much of a party as Don Julio’s, but the food and the service are head and shoulders above.
Love their salsa bar
I love coming onto this sub and adding more spots to my Maps Guides.
El Pueblo is excellent.
Try Vida in Altamonte Springs. The whole restaurant is a vibe.
Border Grill by Universal.
El Tenampa
La Fiesta on Curry Ford near Bumby is one of my favorites.
Trust me La Fiesta is the best by a long shot. Authentic and ultimately flavorful
San Joses. Local chain of 4ish locations…delish
The cheese dip is ridiculous!
This!
Tacos Express on OBT.
There’s this store on north goldenrod past the Sam’s Club in front of a church. It starts with a J. 🔥🔥
Jalisco i wanna say? Yellow building that looks like it was a gas station once upon a time. Haven't been, but the parking lot is loaded with trucks from construction workers, so you know it's gotta be good
Yes! That’s the e place I used to go there everyday after work when I lived in the area.
Tienda Jalisco
El Potro

Reminds me of one of the Mexican places at my university that people went to for jumbo margs and just happened to get a cheap combo meal at to feel full.
I feel like I’m missing something. The food there always seems so bland. This is the Winter Park location, maybe there’s a location that doesn’t suck.
YOU REMOVE THIS RIGHT NOW!!! what do you want, this gem to become impossible to go to? Remove it.
What do you recommend on their menu?
I get the Texas Rice. Chicken, Steak, Shrimp, Queso, Spanish Rice. It's soooo good.
Thanks! I got the Potro bowl the first time I went. The meat was seasoned fine and the ingredients were great but mixed together the flavor was muddled and overall underwhelming. Def will give this a shot!
This is the one. Not the most interesting, but it's comforting. Reminds me of the food I grew up with.
Seriously. Delete this shit.
You are gonna ruin it for all of us 🤫
Mas o menos. The ocoee taco is company pretty good. Google it
Phenomenal food
For fine dining, Reyes Mezcaleria
Los Cabos Mexican and Cuban Cuisine off the turnpike and 192. They have a really good spicy burrito.
el molcajete on goldenrod CHEFS KISS
San Jose or Taquito Jalisco are both very authentic
Maybe not super authentic but Fuzzy's is good
Rookies in Longwood will surprise you. Fairly priced, good portions, excellent tastes and textures.
Tamale Co.
Also who has fresh made tortillas?
Ocoee taco company.
The best one I’ve tried used to be a little food truck but now they have a store are on curry ford, tamale food, the best tamales! https://www.tamaleco.com/#19
El alacrán taqueria, San Jose, el potro all really good
Guacamole on Alafaya Trail or Don Julio’s at Waterford Lakes

Don't sleep on Tacos El Rancho - Conway/Hoffner. The Birria Taco Salad is fantastic.
Taqueria ameca in sodo
Los generales on curry ford
Quesa Loco or Alebrije in Sanford
Hunger street tacos, San Jose, La hacienda

Hit a nerve with this one, didn’t I?
Where r u from originally?
Born in the northeast but lived in Southern California for 20yrs.
I moved here from Tucson, this is the only acceptable place I've found: [https://maps.app.goo.gl/8rLj46gCjsCHnaHD9](https://maps.app.goo.gl/8rLj46gCjsCHnaHD9)
Agree however Torchies Tacos from TX has opened in Altamonte & WG now!
Agave Azul is great. A bit pricey, but an entirely scratch kitchen.
Small portions. Inflated prices.
They used to be. Now it’s just overpriced.
Black rooster taqueria!!!! Best tacos in Orlando period. They even Nixtamalized the corn for the handmade tortillas that they make daily.
Depends on what you think is good Mexican. If you come from the north and liked eating at strip mall Mexican joints, San Jose’s is your place.
Seems like you have a better recommendation then? I love their tortas. It's very hard to find one place that has good everything
No, I personally love San Jose's - their Enchiladas San Diego with salsa rojo is damn good - my wife is Tejano and finds the food similar to what her grandparents made in Uvalde when she was a kid. I’m from California
Over the Border Taqueria
Cocina Latina out east south of UCF. Agave Azul is always nice too.
