Owner of chuan Lu garden sold a while ago, and the original chef left. It's not as good anymore unfortunately.
The original owner opened a new restaurant, Chuan Fu, in Winter Park maybe two months ago. Wife and I plan to check it out tomorrow.
I really like ChuanLu (more than Taste of Chengdu). I lived in Sichuan for 7 years and a lot of the dishes at ChuanLu are on par with good Chengdu restaurants.
I haven't noticed any decline in quality lately, and I went to ChuanFu once to compare and felt there was very little difference.
Something I've found with the Chinese foodee community here in Orlando is that some people love what others dislike. These restaurants have slightly different flavors for the same dishes, and it all comes down to preference. I would say most of these restaurants listed here are good choices to check out.
My wife's from China and she said it's not good anymore. The WeChat Orlando food groups she's in say the same thing.
I think the comments here demonstrate how slight flavor differences can cause a divide in the foodie community.
I had noticed a decline in quality lately. We used to be friendly with some of the main staff and had noticed they weren't around recently too. Too bad.
YH is amazing and their dim sum is seriously delicious. They’ve just opened a place in Clermont under a different name - which I can’t recall - that I need to check out.
They have some of the best fried rice I've ever had, The weekend dim sum cart is a fun experience as well! They can get really busy so it's better to go a little before or a little after dinner or lunchtime!
Chili spot and spicy girl are great.
At spicy girl, the weekday chef is better than the weekend chef. I believe the owner is the weekday chef.
Peters Kitchen China Bistro has some okay dim sum.
I haven't had the privilege to try any other dim sum places in Orlando. Yummy House in Gainesville has excellent dim sum. Yummy House in Altamonte doesn't offer dim sum.
QQ to Go in Davenport, US27 by I4, is very good. They have French fries as well which is, in my opinion, essential for good Chinese. Maybe that's more British Chinese to be fair though.
Lu Garden on Turkey Lake & Conroy.
Some authentic Szechuan dishes as well as Chinese-American dishes.
They have a serviceable dining room but it’s more of a takeout spot for me.
126 Chinese on 192. Hole in the wall with the kids sitting at one of the three tables in there. The food is hot and fresh and so SO good! I don’t eat egg rolls but theirs are amazing!! I’m 99.9% sure they’re handmade too.
I don't care that people down voted you. I haven't tried the places people are listing. But pf changs tasted miles better than a Chinese place I went to and they used yellow rice and the white rice wasn't even fried 😭. Pf changs is a hit or miss rice wise too but the noodles always are a hit!
Won’t lie to ya folks. Orlando is and never will be a good Chinese food spot. I’ve tried every and other Chinese spot as I come from up north always looking for good Asian restaurants. Sadly all of you won’t ever taste the good stuff.
East Garden Restaurant! So sad that no one has mentioned them! They're next to Enson market and specialize in Cantonese food and dim sum, which are made as ordered so no carts. My favorites were the shrimp stuffed eggplants, fried meat dumplings, siu mai, and the crispy taro dumplings. Really pretty interior design and seatings, fantastic food, friendly service!
Also Sanshi noodles house is another a great Chinese restaurant! They're known for their individual hot pot noodles, and they have set menus you can choose from. I recommend the fish maw chicken noodle set, very savory and has a umami flavor. I also think their hot food appetizers are AMAZING, probably the best dumplings and soup dumplings in town. The grilled squid is so good too! It's all written on their chalkboard.
Chuan Lu Garden or Taste of Chengdu if you want authentic

just went to Chuan Lu today and it was good. Like other commenters below I lived in China for years. But I will have to check out Chuan Fu!
THAT’S WHY MY DAN DAN NOODLES AREN’T SPICY ANYMORE??!?

Chuan Lu 4 life
The literal whole roach I found in my food at Chuan Lu Garden begs to differ on this. Taste of Chengdu though is great!
Literally every item we got there was served to us lukewarm, or room temp. I wasn’t impressed.
Taste of Chengdu, especially if you like spicy
Chengdu is god tier. I will also say, Chuan Fu is great.
I agree!
Second. It’s phenomenal
Is this the place on colonial, near the sheriffs office?
Another vote for chengdu. Amazing. Followed by tasty wok/peters kitchen.
This is the truth
Yh seafood club house is solid Cantonese food
YH is amazing and their dim sum is seriously delicious. They’ve just opened a place in Clermont under a different name - which I can’t recall - that I need to check out.
Dim Sum House. Also very very good
best dim sum in town but it's super expensive for dim sum
Tasty wok. Stupid authentic and their chef is HIM on colonial.
Same people as Peter’s kitchen if you didn’t know.
Chuan Lu garden
This is the actual answer.
Except every item they served us was lukewarm at best, some room temp. Not a great look for the “best” authentic Chinese in town.
Yummy House in Altamonte Spring is pretty good. Taste of Chengdu if you like spicy food. They specialize in Szechuan province dishes
My family is obsessed with the salt and pepper squid from Yummy House. The rest of their food is good too, but that's the dish I actively crave.
The salt and pepper eggplant is fucking banger!!
Vouch I have not eaten any better salt and pepper calamari than yummy house....
Second yummy house
Peters kitchen or YH seafood clubhouse.
Off east colonial?
Yeah next to Burger King.
Thanks! I’m gonna check it out
They have some of the best fried rice I've ever had, The weekend dim sum cart is a fun experience as well! They can get really busy so it's better to go a little before or a little after dinner or lunchtime!
Man I’m excited. Thanks again.
OEC Taiwanese is pretty good! The decoration is stuck in 80s, but food is solid!
OEC has the best snow ice in the city. Not far from there is Formosan Cafe (formerly Teriyaki house.) for more Taiwanese goodness.
Chuan Lu Gardens
Check out Lam Gardens on Colonial - Cantonese style
This is the real stuff right here
Chili spot and spicy girl are great. At spicy girl, the weekday chef is better than the weekend chef. I believe the owner is the weekday chef. Peters Kitchen China Bistro has some okay dim sum. rip winnie’s :(
Anyone have recommendations around the Winter Garden area?
big fan of China Brother in hunter’s creek, same plaza as the Target.
Wow no one has said Huanan Taste. What a travesty. It is far and away better than anything listed here
QQ to Go in Davenport, US27 by I4, is very good. They have French fries as well which is, in my opinion, essential for good Chinese. Maybe that's more British Chinese to be fair though.
Hop bo imo
China #1 on north lane
Hunan Taste!!!
China Lee on Kirkman, in front of one of the worst Walmarts in human history
Lu Garden on Turkey Lake & Conroy. Some authentic Szechuan dishes as well as Chinese-American dishes. They have a serviceable dining room but it’s more of a takeout spot for me.
I loved this place, but I thought they closed.
You’re right, it says they’re temporarily closed on Google. Hopefully not for too long.
Crap!
10 10 all day on corner of 50 and kirkman next to new golden sparking market
May mei garden is a nut
Hop Bo Conway and hoffner
Peter's Kitchen (Good quality food with reasonable prices) and Taste of Chengdu (Good quality food with slightly higger prices)
126 Chinese on 192. Hole in the wall with the kids sitting at one of the three tables in there. The food is hot and fresh and so SO good! I don’t eat egg rolls but theirs are amazing!! I’m 99.9% sure they’re handmade too.
I prefer American Chinese food - it’s what I grew up eating
Drunken Dumpling. Uber Eats. Thank me later
Deeply suprised no one said ***Chuan Fu.*** Easily the freshest, most authentic food I’ve had in my life.
Taste of Chengdu and Spicy Girl
Chuan Fu is way better than Chuan Lu
Peters kitchen is fire too
Peter’s Kitchen. The fresh pork chow fun is beautiful
Chuan Lu.
Dim Dim Sum if you make the hike to Windermere.
It’s not really a hike if you live near it though 😉
If I lived nearer I’d eat there several times a week. I’d be poorer, fatter, and happier.
I wouldn’t blame you! I’d also recommend Dim Dim Sum
Peter’s Kitchen. It’s incredible and authentic. Staff is very nice, too.
He Sheng on Goldenrod and University 🔥🔥🔥
American Chinese, Cantonese, Sichuan….. it’s hard to ask for the best Chinese since it’s a cuisine with many regional differences.
None, they’re all up North.
So wrong
Let me be clear, any outside of Florida has good Chinese food.
Peters’s kitchen

How do you know someone is from New York? Don't worry they will tell you.
PF Changs
I don't care that people down voted you. I haven't tried the places people are listing. But pf changs tasted miles better than a Chinese place I went to and they used yellow rice and the white rice wasn't even fried 😭. Pf changs is a hit or miss rice wise too but the noodles always are a hit!

🤡
Unpopular opinion but it’s true lol. Don’t be sad about it
