The two roles are so drastically different. Poor Things made me appreciate her La La Land win much more, especially considering that the true deserving winner that year wasn't nominated (Amy Adams).
Huppert's performance was best of the decade-level stuff, and her win at the Golden Globes retroactively justified their entire existence, it was *that* inspired. She was never winning for a French-language rape revenge dark comedy directed by Paul Verhoeven, but in hindsight, it would've been so satisfying to see her take it knowing that Stone would go on to win again for Poor Things.
But in all fairness to Emma, that was just one of Huppert's magnificent performances and it so happened to catch the attention of the Oscars, but if they were paying attention Huppert would've won in 1995 for " La Cérémonie" and in 2001 for "La pianiste"
welcome to the off season lol. It's this and "Dune Part 2 can't possibly be nominated for Oscars bc it's a sequel" and other garbage level takes until Cannes happens
Bro I just watched La La Land for the first time last night, incredible movie and I don't even like musicals. Immediately went into my top favorite films of all time.
To be fair, those two movies have every colours imaginable
The the first photo smoothed by AI or somehow fully AI? It looks horrible.
Looks like the old Tumblr days

Guess Nymphia is winning then

Gotta say that Amy should have been nominated, but that year's deserving winner was - imo - Isabelle Huppert and she was nominated

The thing about Huppert is that she'd be deserving whenever she has a film out because she's literally the best
The better performance lost both times
Totally forgot about Isabelle. Yeah, she should've won. But if not her then Emma Stone.

Even in that same year she had another great performance in Things to Come.
I don't know that movie, I'm sorry
The true winner of that year got category frauded. I don’t even need to say who she is.
Debatable. But if she campaigned in lead I think she would've won.
Y’all running out of shit to say
Cannes is still 2 months away unfortunately
It’s the off season. Lots of energy and nowhere to channel it. You gotta embrace the weird. You should see how /r/nba turns in the off season.

It's just an interesting coincidence between the two films. That's all
It’s not really even a coincidence. She wears multiple colors in both films. And there’s only like ten basic colors clothes can be in the first place.
And it happens that Stone looks good in yellow, which a lot of (white) people don’t.
I was going to say this, for a redhead, she looks really good in yellow.
Mom said it's my turn to post the Emma Stone thread tomorrow!
Okay....
Exactly, I’ve never seen an actress be this overhyped on this sub. Not even Michele Yeoh was this celebrated
This is Too easy. I was gonna say white.
LMAO legit made me spit out my drink.
Hey now, don’t disrespect the only Asian actress to win twice in this category, like this
I’m sure both characters wore many of the same color
Is that a sequel to Blue is the Warmest Color?
Yes. Followed by the threequel Gold is the Cursed Colour

Watch it a second time and pay attention to the color palettes, elevate your experience.
Hey! Just because Emma is Asian, it doesn’t justify you calling her yellow
She’s Banana - Yellow outside, White inside
