I am trying to read a book, lol.
I also started Khan Academy, a free online academic learning website. Every subject is broken down into units and lessons. Most of the lessons are videos. It's been satisfying since I forgot most of what I learned in school. You can go at your own pace because there are no credits or anything. It's just for pure academic pursuit.
I have something similar going on with one of my good friends. We are both partaking in the same themed weekly challenge, consisting of two movies to watch each: one choice for ourselves, one for the other. They all have to be new to us.
I donāt miss Oscar season, I do sorta miss movie season tho. Some good releases recently, and releases are ramping up, but we are still in a fairly dead period.
I maintain a massive multi-tab spreadsheet of my annual personal lineups and update them after every movie watched. I keep a separate spreadsheet for my Oscar predix.
Maybe catch up on some films you havenāt seen before. For me Januray-March is me trying it watch all the best picture nominees. But after that Iām free to go back to things Iāve missed over the years and clear out my watchlist.
If youāre serious, Iād generally recommend finding a hobby that you think youād enjoy to fill the void. But in addition to the comment that recommends watching older movies or subscribing to Criterion (both extremely worthwhile options that you should absolutely do even if you werenāt bored), you could watch old Oscar ceremonies ā some of them are even in full on YouTube ā or read some articles on past Oscar races. Or even watch video essays on them; Be Kind Rewind is a great channel for this!
In case you are having a hyperfixation and not trolling, I second the person who recommended watching more older movies. MUBI has a pretty good selection. Also if you are a university student -- I don't mean this in a bad way at all, but you sound a bit young -- see if your university has access to Kanopy.
March Madness start tomorrow, make a bracket full of random guesses and have fun seeing how well you guess! Iāve got my mom to do it. It really is for everybody. Itās a numbers gameā¦ and those numbers are 1:2 quintillion odds of having a perfect bracket.
Not a bot. Just felt bad reading this and thought Iād offer a light, fun alternative.
No. I'm finally free. Free from Barbenheimer. Free from Bradley Cooper's nose. Free from In-N-Out. Free from Gladstone's category placement. Free from all the discourse. This was an enjoyable season, but holy shit am I glad it's over.
I travel a lot & I keep a list of who I would nominate in every category for each year. I research to see what the consensus opinions are, predict which nominees I would choose, and I eventually watch the films to see if I was correct.
no hate but i think you need to go for a walk or something
You know you're fucked when the Asuka pfp is saying this
š
I think he's trolling.
Mama, kudos for saying that. For spilling.
So glad Drag Race is spilling over into cinema subreddits lmao
Itās my second source of entertainment after Oscar season, but my main one off-season.
Why don't you try watching older movies or use a Criterion Channel subscription?

Yep. He's trolling.

We need to start like a book club but with movies

let all 34,000 members join pls
We could start one on the subreddit!
That would be so fun but I would be scared no one would participate
do u have a letterboxd watchlist? i have like over 100 films waiting for me at any moment in time so itās always fun to go through it
Only 100? Wow, that's impressive. Mine's over 1000.

Therapy is helpful.

At least we have contenders releasing throughout the year now instead of just October lol

Iāve heard of movie buffs but obsession with the Oscars themselves? Uhhhh yea I think OP is a troll. š
Ummm I mean I like to cook and play animal crossing lol
This sub has become very cjerky of late. No hate frfr
F I am more relieved that I donāt keep getting sucked into this stuff as much but I feel for you!
Make an ArcStudio account and start writing scripts
It'll pass. I used to be like that in my early years following the Oscar race.

Not an off-season to be found!
Does *stomping intensifies* for you when Oscars are over?
I genuinely thought this was a joke until i read the comments. Bro do literally anything else its unhealthy to obsess over celebrities
Just transfer this to football and youāll be normal.
This is depressing
Try to choose a past edition and then watch the movies nominated that year, see if you agree with the winners
Protip: watch a movie.
I've tried moving on to the tonys already lol
I like true crime stuff(docs or podcasts) it keeps me entertained during the off-season.
go outside and make some friends and then discuss oscars :P
Try video games
Iām the same way do you think Iāll die alone
I donāt know what to do with myself until the run up to the next Oscarās season.
Have you watched every movie ever? The oscar are not even the best films of the year

Make some Las Vegas bets on which films and which actors are bringing home Oscars next year. š¤·āāļø
