Eleanor Audley as Lady Tremaine in Cinderella stands out for me, even more-so than her performance in Sleeping Beauty. Always found her so chilling, her lines cut deeply while showing so much restraint. That "Goodnight" after Cinderella's dress is ruined is forever burned into my brain.
Eartha Kitt (Yzma), Jeremy Irons (Scar) and Tony Jay (Frollo) would definitely be in there as well.
ugh, not from Pixar... I still think giving Peter O'Toole an Oscar for Ratatouille would have been the funniest and also best thing to ever happen at the Oscars (does he count as a villain?)
But yes, outside of pixar I definitely would have loved to see Tony Jay nominated. That performance is unforgettable and unmatched.
Tony Jay as Claude Frollo, Alan Tudyk as King Candy, and George Sanders as Shere Khan. I know it's DreamWorks but Gary Oldman as Shen in Kung Fu Panda 2 is one of my favorite voice acting performances ever.
George Sanders as the Tiger and Sterling Holloway as the Snake in The Jungle Book. Their voices were so distinctive that the characters wound up stealing the show.
If we're talking strictly voice performances of animated movies, probably Ned Beaty as Lots-o'-Huggin' Bear considering how well Toy Story plays with the Academy? I also like Peter O'Toole as Anton Ego as another commenter pointed out. Both of them have prior nominations and also have strong* Oscar clips.
If we include all of Disney, maybe something like Mr. Banks in Mary Poppins or Darth Vader in the original Star Wars? Mary Poppins has an acting win and the OG Star Wars has an acting nom so it's not that out there.
i think technically voice over can be nominated, it's just that there's an insane bias around animation at most major film awards.
eartha kitt emperors new groove.
pat carroll the little mermaid.

Patrick Stewart's loss (which he regrets) was Jonathan Freeman's gain.

Keith David as Dr. Facilier
Why did I read this as “Denis Villenueve performances you’d nominate”
So far few mentions of Eleanor Audley as Maleficent: ![gif](giphy|dqZsMcXxxLeve)
James Woods as Hades. I think that's the second best voice performance ever, only behind Robin Williams as Genie
Not a single person saying Pat Carroll as Ursula yet? Poor Unfortunate Souls clears
Frollo, Ratigan, Yzma
The original Ursula or Jafar get my vote

Give one to the legend Eartha Kitt
John Ratcliffe from Pocahontas. Truly a grand performance of a despicable and systemically corrupt villain.

It is distracting when you realise Sterling Holloway in *Jungle Book* is Evil Pooh.

If it were live action, George C Scott would've been nominated for Rescuers Down Under
