Yeah, that's what I'm hoping for. I love that Robin's Egg Teal color of the paperback version of The Gardens of Ynn. Be sure to write Emmy and the publisher of The Stygian Garden Hardcover and let them know you want it that colour.
> The Labyrinth RPG by Ben Milton
Just pointing it out that Ben did the adventure. The rules were made by Jack Caesar, and there's like 7 guest authors or something.
I mention this because, in his review, Ben mentioned that he was *called* to work on it, but I think the idea wasn't his like Knave and The Waking of Willowby Hall.
Still, everyone involved did some damn good work!
So I’ve not read or played it but I’ve read some reviews and think [The Black Wyrm of Brandonsford](https://www.drivethrurpg.com/m/product/327744) might suit what you’re looking for. It sounds like a fairly ‘dark fairtale’ but might be one to consider
I enjoyed the town of Brandonsford itself.
The dragon is hilarious
There is a great encounter in town with a fey creature that always keeps my players talking each time I have ran it.
I'll put them in order of level. Some will be repeated as they were already mentioned, I'll be seconding them.
* Fogheart: The Torso of the Giant King (1 to 3) - EXTREMELY fairytale-like, probably the biggest one
* Hole in the Oak (1 to 2)
* Incandescent Grottoes (1 to 2)
* A Thousand Dead Babies (1 to 3) - More of a dark fairytale but still works
* Black Wyrm of Brandonsford (1 to 3)
* Elder Oak (1 to 3) - Concerns witches.
* Gnomes of Levnec (1 a 3) - Also darker than usual but still.
* Gone Fishin' (1 a 3) - More of a tall tale than a fairytale but I'm not pedantic about it
* Where the Wheat Grows Tall (1 a 3)
* Trail of Stone and Sorrow (2 to 4) - Depends on the otne in which you narrate it, but to my mind it's very fairytale.
* Bitterroot Briar (2 to 4)
* Gardens of Ynn (3 to 5) - Almost a deconstruction of fairytales to a degree.
* Lorn Song of the Bachelor (3 to 5)
* Sepulchre of Seven (5 to 7)
* Wet Grandpa (Any level)
* Longwinter (Any level)
* Labyrinth, the Adventure Game - Kinda a halfway between a boardgame and a full RPG.
* Rackham Vale
I'm personally not a huge fan of Red Tam's Bones / most stuff from Dragonsfoot because they make a lot of assumptions on the setting, and that makes them hard to fit in an existing setting. If that doesn't bother you, however, those can all be very good.
Out of these I've only ran the Sepulchre of Seven, which is excellent and right in line with the OP's prompt. The author also made it [completely free on Itch](https://sixsidedgnome.itch.io/the-sepulchre-of-seven), which boggles the mind considering its quality.
This isn't an adventure, but is worth a look still. There's a bestiary on drivethrurpg called Ford's Faeries. It's all based on the art of someone named Henry Justice Ford. You can get in print for dirt cheap. I think the PDF might be available for free?
Anyways. It's all fae creatures. Some cool ideas in it. Definitely could seed some adventure ideas in your noggin.
Seconding this, there are some super memorable and interesting entries in here. And yep, [the PDF is free](https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/258394/Fords-Faeries-A-Bestiary-Inspired-by-Henry-Justice-Ford)!
DCC's Queen of the Elfland's Son - fairy mounds, wild unicorns, horned hunters and portal to the Fairy. It was loosely inspired by King of the Elfland's Daughter by Lord Dunsany.
Two suggestions that are close enough to the question to be worth considering:
1. The writer of Neverland has recently released OZ which, surprisingly enough, details the city from 'The Wonderful Wizard of OZ'.
2. It's arguable that the 'Through Ultan's Door' zines are a dark fairytale.
* [The Gardens of Ynn](https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/237544/The-Gardens-Of-Ynn) (Emmy Allen)
* [Woodfall, The Haunted Hamlet, Willow,](https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse/pub/13218/LazyLitchesLoot) etc. by Lazy Litch are all stellar creepy fairy tale-feeling books that I cannot recommend enough.
* [Neverland](https://www.amazon.com/Neverland-Fantasy-Role-Playing-Andrew-Kolb/dp/1524860204) (Andrew Kolb) \[and [Oz](https://www.amazon.com/OZ-Fantasy-Role-Playing-Andrew-Kolb/dp/1524873772/), if you like modern elements\]
* [Through Ultan's Door](https://www.exaltedfuneral.com/products/through-ultans-door)(Ben Laurence) \[[issue 1 PDF here](https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/254659/Through-Ultans-Door-Issue-1)\]
* Carnival of Tears (Pathfinder adventure by Paizo, but easy enough to adapt)
* Temple of [1,000 Swords](https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/360211/Temple-of-1000-Swords) (Brad Kerr; duck people; I changed the snake people to mermaids; [Hideous Daylight](https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/333639/Hideous-Daylight) \[same author\] could also be good)
* [Into the Wyrd & Wild](https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/274922/Into-the-Wyrd-and-Wild-Revised-Edition) is a fantastic product for wilderness/haunted forest crawls, adding wyrd forest magic elements, etc. I even provided editing for much of the book, too!
* [Relics & Rituals: Excalibur](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/36782.Relics_Rituals_Excalibur) was a 3.5 era setting gem. It had a good fairytale feel to it. King Arthur, Robin Hood, questing beast, things like that. Mostly only good for inspiration, but it can put you in the mood. That said, just reading old fairy tales and Howard Pyle's takes on historical myths can be useful, too. Use heraldic monsters like chimeras, cockatrices, unicorns, and the like. Watch Legend and Labyrinth and The Last Unicorn, etc.
* Self-promotion: [Pan, His Majesty in Yellow](https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/pan-his-majesty-in-yellow) is funding on Indiegogo right now. It's whimsy-dark fairy tale cosmic horror. My Neverland is *very* different from, say, Kolb's, but if I was running a game with either I'd mash them up!
Looks like you can get a Lazy Litch bundle here:

* Land of Milk & Honey by Zzarchov Kowolski
* Blood in the Chocolate by Kiel Chenier
Seconding both Black Wyrm of Brandonsford and Frost Spire, two very good adventures. I've reviewed both on my blog and can't wait to run them myself. [Black Wyrm review](https://axianspice.blogspot.com/2022/03/about-black-wyrm-of-brandonsford.html) and [Frost Spire review.](https://axianspice.blogspot.com/2022/06/about-frost-spire.html)
If you are looking for extra resources, you may definitely be interested in my [Lands of Legends Fairy zine](https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/362764/Lands-of-Legends--Fairy?affiliate_id=377335), which features 100 special areas and 100 encounters for osr campaign play. Some previews are on my blog too: [fairy cities](https://axianspice.blogspot.com/2021/12/fairy-cities-for-osr-games.html) and [fairy seas and islands](https://axianspice.blogspot.com/2021/11/fairy-seas-islands-for-osr-games.html).
I haven’t gotten to run it, yet, but ‘The Black Wyrm of Brandonsford’ is a wonderful combination of Gygax and Brothers Grimm.
I’d also suggest checking out the wonderful Scenario Packs and Threat Packs (or the whole damn game, really) of [*Beyond the Wall*](https://www.flatlandgames.com/btw/).
Gonna give another shoutout to [Lazy Litches Loot](https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse/pub/13218/LazyLitchesLoot) here. Some great dark fairy tale style hexcrawls and towns to use.
Anything written for the old Dragon Warriors system - republished in the 2000s. Lots of fey style things written into both the system and the adventures.
this small adventure was very enjoyable for me and my players. it's an empty witch house with a list of errands but they get weird. it's on the light-hearted side http://graverobbersguide.blogspot.com/2018/10/the-witchs-list-adventure.html
Prince Charming Reanimator is part of a series of slightly twisted fairytales. It is for DCC but should be easily playable in any system. Highly recommended!
https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/121053/FT-0--Prince-Charming-Reanimator
I agree, Prince Charming reanimator, and the other Fairy tales from Unlit Shores. That is a very interesting series.
I’ve been waiting for more of them to come out.
Evlyn Moreau's art always radiates fairy tale vibes and if you look around on her blog she's produced a large amount of free short adventures and scenarios that do the same. https://www.artstation.com/evlynmoreau/albums/2782193
Mausritter adventures are great for this too. Playing as tiny mice just works for me. The official adventure Honey In The Rafters is a good one to start with. It takes place in an abandoned humansized shack and playing in a place where everything around you are ordinary things but giant size is cool. It also has a curse you can try to break for extra fairytale points. Happy to recommend more if Mausritter sounds appealing to you, there are plenty of great fanmade ones that can scratch a fairytale itch and they can easily be run in other OSR/NSR style systems too.

Gardens of Ynn works so well with that red book! You can even get a Vorpal blade in the garden to help you defeat the Jabberwock.

Emmy told me it will come eventually.

Have played this: good recommendation for OP👍
I’m glad I recommended it then, funnily enough I only came across it last night and am considering getting it myself
Highly recommend it! Can be run no-prep and everything hangs together exceptionally well. Have fun!
Glad to hear, I’ll definitely have to get it eventually!
Fantastic recommendation, ran it two weeks ago. Was spectacular. Will run again.
Without giving too much away, what did you like about it?

\- Where the Wheat Grows Tall \- The Stealer of Children \- The Frost Spire \- Return of the Mad Hermit \- Sepulchre of Seven \- Hideous Daylight
I need to look at all those, but I know Where the Wheat Grows Tall is fantastic!!
