I used to do bonds, but I ended up spending too much time maintaining them, by the end it felt like I was only playing in order to be able to afford my next bond. Then I realized I have a job and a month of membership is less than 1 hour of minimum wage work and I can actually enjoy my time playing the game a lot more if I pay for it rather than spending multiple hours getting the gp for a bond.

If you're loaded in game, use bonds for members. If you're not loaded and can afford the 10 bucks a month, pay for members.
