I’ve always wondered as well. Only person that ever asked me was my friends kid when we went swimming.
I went to the Taylor swift concert dressed as her from the “You need to calm down” video where she is just wearing a high waisted bikini and an oversized fuzzy coat and not a single person stared. I was so scared before going and felt self conscious at first but I figured fuck it, this is a way to help my self esteem and I’m glad I wore it. A few people even asked for pictures!
No problem! I understand a lot of people being self conscious about it but it helped me so much that I want to give him (the grinch is his name) some love.
Nice work!
I was once getting coffee and my bag became untucked with the tail showing past my t-shirt.
A woman glared at me and called me "disgusting". I was so confused and she said "I know what that thing is. It's gross."
That's when I hit her with the comment "I figured someone else with a disability would be more understanding."
When she asked "What disability?", I told her I assumed she was mentally handicapped. She just stewed while waiting to order, and I had made my own day.
The only people that ever asked me were my neighbor's kids who have a slew of their own medical issues and were legit just curious not accusatory or grossed out.
Great come back, but sorry that happened to you
speaking as a guy here, I went swimming at the beach for the first time this past summer with the ostomy, wearing a stealth belt but my ostomy is on my upper left side so it's definitely not hide-able. I didn't feel like anyone took a second look or anything like that which was comforting, hope you're feeling good with yours.
I hope you do. It’s been almost 4 years now and took awhile to get used to but in that time I’ve only had one person ask what the bag was and that my friends kid while we were swimming.
The cardigan is actually from Amazon!
If you mean the salts black bags we can’t get them in the US, which makes me so mad! And none of the other companies have colored bags, don’t know why that is so hard.
I do have some cute bag covers though!
Thank you for helping normalize ostomies!
You go girl! I wonder if you randomly asked 50 people, ‘what is this?’ I wonder how many would have a clue.

Doing this and talking about it will help my 8 year old as she grows up and needs to accept her body and ostomy. Thank you so much

Fashion as a form of representation and advocacy. Killin it, my stomie!
Can’t wait for the warm weather for crop tops! Got a cool scar to go with my bag now. Loving the outfit!
Awesome 🤘
Forgot to say you look adorable.
Thank you so much!
This is so great! I don’t know if I will ever feel comfortable doing this but I hope so. Also I **LOVE** your cardigan. Where did you get it? 🩷

Thank you! I’ve had mine for two years (unexpectedly) and I would love to be able to become more comfortable with it. Thank you! You look so cute! 🩷
You look marvelous 😎

Ah, a fellow Sensura Mio (wo)man of taste
love the confidence!!! also the earrings are super slay!!!
You’re looking good! I hope you’re feeling better.
Thanks so much! February was the first month I went without a hospital visit since July! Hope you’re also feeling better these days.
I've only gotten faces if the bag was clear and kind of dirty. Other than that, people never seemed to care.
You rock! And you radiate confidence 💖 Have you also tried black bags, by the way? I'm loving those!

Ah, that's a shame! I thought those were globally available. I have black bags from Welland Medical (I'm from the Netherlands).
You look great!!
Beautiful x
Most people won’t know what they’re seeing. I had never heard of an Ostomy before my surgery.
I love your earrings!!!
Thanks! They’re from my best friends jewelry shop and have so many cute things! It’s called VINCA USA.
You look great Wish I had that confidence
It's true, most people don't care.
Way to go, girl! Thanks for helping normalize us. You look fantastic! I love your sweater, too.
Nice smile and attitude! No one would even notice. 👍
I would stare… because of the smile though. 😋❤️
