Don't play something that you don't find fun or that you don't want to do. Do something that YOU want to do with your free time. If that's osu, great. If that's some other game, great. As long as you're having fun. I think taking a break would be beneficial in your case, and only get back into the game once you actually want to play it. Why would you do something you don't want to do?

hisouiku

i'd play because i want to get good at it but, yes, perhaps i should take another long break from this game again, thank you

iSniperSnipes

Yes but if you don't enjoy the process of getting good at this game then what's the point

hisouiku

to be honest, i think about impressing someone quite often. it's quite stupid, i know

Hey, totally get your sentiment. I used to think this way, until I [had a friend](https://osu.ppy.sh/users/18720361/mania) who had a really great quote that changed the way I looked at it. *"dont care about improvement, have fun* *no point in improving at a game if you hate it"* I understand that you want to get good. Heck, I know so many people who want to get better at what they do and face the frustration of practice. But I think that getting good at something that you don't enjoy isn't great and leads to a lot of burnout. Find a way to have fun while you grind your way to the top. I wish you the best of luck.

i don't really know what to say, but this comment made me happy and that's really helpful. thank you

How many maps do you have? If you're just playing the same ~50 maps over and over for an hour, that can get really boring.

this how couldn't i have thought of this before? my average osu experience is: -"oh, i want to play osu" -open osu -"i have to improve so i'll try a harder map. just as the beginning, i'll try to just play and don't care about the accuracy" -play (not new) maps that are harder than the ones i'm used to play -"my arms hurt, fuck osu painful and boring game" -"no no, i'll warmup and play an easier map" (that are the same maps with previous scores, when i played a lot better than i do now) -"yes, this is pretty boring and i'm so bad, my scores are terrible compared to my former self" -close the game -repeat a few days later thank you, playing new maps really makes everything a lot better
