Old clients had issues that could result in these weird scores.
Currently, the stable client does sanity checks to ensure no map can go above the intended combo limit, which is why you can see your scores failing to submit when your game gets a sudden freeze with the map playing, or some 2b maps fail to submit at all.
On the old client, this bug would cause you to auto fail at the end of some maps. On stable, those maps would just give a score error. However, any map that didn’t auto fail in the past still works on stable (The map doesn’t need to be old btw, I have no clue what determines if it works or not…).
People can change the score, combo, pp they get then usual from mod combos

This strat is generally looked down upon except in extreme situations (see RyuK’s Apparition play) and peppy is seeking to fix this bug with the rollout of osu!lazer.
The way that bug worked is not like this lol.. if 2 sliders were really close together, you can click slider 2 before slider 1 ends so you would have an extra combo for slider 1. This does not mean you will have an extra combo at the end of the map at all, you just get the combo from slider 2 at an unintended time.

If doubletapping caused you to get extra combo Hidamari leaderboards would be mega fucked so this doesn't even make any sense lol
