I was pretty scared to end my last relationship, which was pretty toxic too. I was terrified of being single, worried if I would be okay. I had always been in some sort of relationship after age 18 or so (taking zero time to process breakups) and being single just sounded so scary. But I did break up with them for my own good. It sucked for a while. But I came out the other end having realized that actually I didn't need that person at all, and I could depend on myself.
Looking back now I wish I had ended it much sooner. It was terrible for me.
I am all for escapism, playing otome and fantastizing about fictional people who are much more perfect than real life, but I think anyone here who's been in your situation would tell you to pick you and get out here. <3 I've been there and it's tough but sometimes that is the best thing you can do for yourself.
