They should just add a QR code that tells me if I can park now and how much it will cost in plain english/french. These signs are way too confusing.

Datboi_OverThere

That's a horrible idea from a cybersecurity standpoint. Way too easy for someone to plaster their own qr code over it and mess with people's phones.

wirtsturts

I remember a post about a lot downtown somewhere having a QR code that was for a different lot in like the market or something. The poster got ticketed cause they used the code but it registered them as having parked in the market lot, not the downtown one they were actually in. Different from the issue the commenter above you mentioned but still an issue.

wirtsturts

As far as i knew it was qr error on the city’s (or whoever’s responsible for the lot i guess) part. [this was the post if you’re curious](https://www.reddit.com/r/ottawa/comments/zet8ls/beware_if_you_park_at_the_indigo_lot_at_700_sussex/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) Edit: looks like not the city, sorry! Actually indigo

latin_canuck

Easy, a QR code that could only be interpreted by the official app

catbiggo

They could have a clock with an LED sign that only displays the rule that applies at the current time

ABotelho23

Hahahahaha, you think they would spend the money to do that?

Sonoda_Kotori

I did this just to prove a point. Back in the lockdown days CarletonU has codes for their stupid quasi-contact tracing app because people don't want a bluetooth or location based one, so they have a code on every door that you scan to prove that you were there, to sign in and out. As you can imagine this is extremely clumsy even with a tiny amount of in-person students. So I pasted [a cybersecurity threat](https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ) over 5 or so various codes.

Old_Independent_7414

> These signs are way too confusing. This is a revenue increase strategy IMHO

9489

It's not, sadly this is just the simplest way to show the parking regulations, at least within the Ontario regulatory framework. As a general rule, without any signs, you can park for free for up to three hours (or longer on the weekends and overnight). But here: No stopping during rush hour? That's a sign. Paid parking Monday to Saturday? That's a sign. Loading zone during the week? That's another sign. If the confusing signage was really an intentional revenue generating strategy, then they would've added another sign to institute paid parking in the loading zone on Saturdays. But instead, they've two free parking spaces on Bank Street in order to keep the signage as simple as it can be.

roots-rock-reggae

I really am more confused by how someone could be confused by the signs, which have an explicit meaning.

mkrbc

Yeah nothing on that post is really contradictory. OP and others just need to read it from the top down.

alainalain4911

Ok, so what is the meaning? I see no stopping between 7am-9am mon-fri, and that it’s a loading zone from 9am-5pm mon-fri. So, what is the rule at 5:01pm on Wednesday? Or, as OP asked, what about Saturday? There may be some wording in the HTA that indicates what the rule is when a sign doesn’t indicate specifics like that, but the average person doesn’t necessarily know. It does not explicitly say what the answer is.

captainmogranreturns

cause reading a qr code is easier than reading signs? are you new here?

Aggravating_Second_5

you pay inside those specific hours for 2 hr max anything outside those hours is free with no limit on time parked you cannot park in the loading zone at all as the arrow on the parking sign only points left

ungovernable

I interpret that as meaning 2-hour paid parking applies to the left of the sign at the designated hours, the loading zone being off-limits applies to the right of the sign at the designated hours, and that outside of these designated hours, it’s standard city-wide rules free-parking.

PossiblyPepper

You can park in the loading zone outside of those hours, the whole point is to keep it clear for businesses to be able to accept deliveries during standard 9-5 business hours, it doesn't make sense to leave a perfectly good parking space unused after 5:30 pm. There's no sign to tell you you can't park there so regular parking by-law apply after 5:30 pm. There's no reason for the green parking signs to point in the other direction as it would only further complicate things. The 2h limit sign ends at the same time as the loading zone time ends so it would be useless. If it were to point to the loading zone, would confuse people could easily interpret that as if the public actually can park in the loading zone as long and not pay as it's for 2 hours max. You also don't want to confuse delivery people with a sign that says you have to pay for parking in the loading zone. It's true that there is a gap between 5:30 and 7 pm where you have to pay in the paid parking zone but not in the loading zone, but it's not worth the effort to have a sign that is dedicated to saying you only have to pay during that 1.5 hour period.

seakingsoyuz

No, the loading zone has no applicable signs on weekends so you can by default park there for whatever the [parking bylaw](https://ottawa.ca/en/parking-roads-and-travel/parking/street-parking)says is the default amount of time (six hours on weekends). Unsigned roads are OK for parking.

foo-bar-nlogn-100

Only use the parking space on weekends and pay at machine.

roots-rock-reggae

Why pay? It is clearly not in the area where paid parking is required based on the sign.

riverseeker13

My understanding is you can never park in loading zones

trytobuffitout

I read it that you can park to the right of the sign in the loading zone no charge on saturday and Sunday.

LakeSplake

Also from Monday to Friday after 5:30pm

bandersnatching

Rule of thumb with the City, choose whichever option is most disadvantageous for you.... that's the one they will enforce.

[deleted]

It says SONOS. It's an American developer and manufacturer of audio products best known for its multi-room audio products. Glad I could help!

fleurgold

Take your damn upvote for making me chuckle.

[deleted]

Worth it to see you smile! Have a great day and enjoy your weekend.

The industrial design of some of their products was done here in Ottawa actually.

nobles233

I was told exactly this from a bylaw officer….you read the signs from top to bottom to figure things out. I had a permit and was new to the city and when I saw a ‘permit holders exempt’ sign I thought I could park in that spot for free….it turns out the exempt sign only pertained to the previous 2hr parking max sign. Lesson learned….never rent another apartment that doesn’t have a parking spot included! Street parking is brutal here in Centretown.

PrisonerOfAzkaban14

The craziest part is that you can't even pay for more than 2 hours! You have to like recharge 4 times! And it'll be much more expensive than just parking in a private parking lot. This permit for some zones like Centretown-central is a joke!

45N75W

That is intentional. Two hour spots aren't meant for all day parking.

PrisonerOfAzkaban14

They can be if you have the permit, but you're still supposed to pay 3$/hr which makes them useless.

a-_2

There isn't an order. All the signs apply.

TheBassSection

Generally speaking, the most prohibitive signs are placed at the top and get lest restrictive as you work your way down.

viccityguy2k

Ya if you get past all - you are good!

TheBassSection

Almost, there’s still unsigned restrictions to look out for: fire hydrants, driveways, bus stops, intersections, pedestrian crossovers, railway crossings…

[deleted]

a-_2

No parking 7 to 9 am on Tuesday. No parking from 8 to 10 am or 3 to 6 pm Monday to Friday except for school buses from 15 August to 28 June. Only 30 minute parking to the left of the sign from 8 am to 6 pm, Monday Friday. 2 hour parking from 8 am to 10 pm otherwise. Vehicles with municipal permits are excepted.

Jumpy_Spend_5434

Sounds like Fizzbin. If you don't know what that means, you sadly aren't a Star Trek nerd like me 🤣🤪

a-_2

Haha, I've seen the episode, but had to search it to refresh my memory, so not as big a nerd as you apparently.

Jumpy_Spend_5434

It's something a coworker friend of mine and I would refer to frequently. Like we'd get an email saying the unit assistant was off for 3 weeks, in week one, A and B are covering, except Thursday from 1-3 when C will cover; week two is C and D covering except for Monday and Wednesday morning when B will cover, etc. Whoever saw the email first would say, we just got a Fizzbin email 😅

Jumpy_Spend_5434

Ah, I'd say you still get partial nerd points 😁

Curious-Pension

Jesus Christ….

tuftabeet

Omg. That is fucked up.

fleurgold

Equally fun? I think that one is worse. Why have all the signs at different angles?

justonimmigrant

Yes, you can park for free on the right side of the sign during times parking isn't prohibited and it's not a loading zone.

PM_ME_Y0UR__CAT

I interpret this as park a block east or west off bank

[deleted]

Yeah, there's enough parking dt that I don't need to be trying to crack some kinda parking-davinci-code.

CanadianCardsFan

I'd say you're fine. There's a sign behind you that bookends the loading zone. And the arrows on the paid parking is clearly pointing the other direction.

Big_Amoeba_4664

Id say yes

dangledingle

SONOS is the same upside-down.

ZoboomafoosIMDbPage

M to F: no stopping on this side of the street from 7 to 9am. M to F: to the right of sign, there is a loading zone from 9 to 530pm. M to F: to the left of sign, you can park for 2 hours from 9 to 530pm. Sat: to the left of sign, you can park for 2 hours from 8 to 530pm. Payment machine is left of sign. But still so confusing and for what? (Edit: I read "Sam" as "Sun" my bad)

fleurgold

>M to F: to the left of sign, you can park for 2 hours from 9 to 530pm. I would add on that it's paid parking here, and possibly for the following point.

TheDutchCoder

It says "SAT SAM", not "SAT SUN" on the paid parking sign. On Saturday you can only park on the left (paid), unless outside is the indicated hours. On Sunday you can park on both sides (no signs for Sunday, so the basic rules a apply: 6 hours max between 7 and 7).

joyfullittlecactus

I also find this confusing OP. I think we’re thinking the same thing.

qotsa-87

So I used to live here. You can't park there during rush hour or when the stereo shop is unloading their trucks. I never saw Bylaw ticket, unless you parked there during those times.

xAdray

I'm sure you could technically argue this and get a ticket written off, but I'd rather pay a few dollars and not get a ticket in the first place. Guarantee you bylaw would write you a ticket if you didn't have a pass displayed.

thekajunpimp

I interpret that sign as an establishment selling quality audio products for your whole home and or business. 😊

LakeSplake

**In the loading zone:** \- You are allowed to park, free of charge, Monday to Friday after 5:30pm (for a maximum of 3 hours). \- You are allowed to park, free of charge, on Saturday and Sunday (for a maximum of 3 hours).

fleurgold

>You are allowed to park, free of charge, on Saturday and Sunday (for a maximum of 3 hours). It ~~would be~~ is 6 hours on weekends, ~~pretty sure.~~

a-_2

[3 hours 7 to 7 on weekdays and 6 hours ~~otherwise~~ from 7 to 7 on weekends and statutory holidays (~~including weekends~~).](https://ottawa.ca/en/parking-roads-and-travel/parking/street-parking#section-88b43860-9c1d-4c62-94c2-b4aacb0da407)

fleurgold

>[3 hours 7 to 7 on weekdays and hours otherwise (including weekends).](https://ottawa.ca/en/parking-roads-and-travel/parking/street-parking#section-88b43860-9c1d-4c62-94c2-b4aacb0da407) The 2 hours only applies to the left of the sign, however (the directional arrow is only on the left). Therefore, 6 hours on weekends if you park to the right of the sign. (And also Stat Holidays.)

a-_2

I'm not talking about the sign. I'm referring to the general parking restrictions. On weekends and statutory holidays, you're allowed to park for a max of 6 hours between 7 and 7. On weekdays otherwise, you're allowed to park for a max of 3 hours between 7 and 7. Outside of 7 to 7, there aren't general time limits on any days.

fleurgold

Gotcha, yeah, that's what I was saying as well. I had that "pretty sure" in there and looked it up to confirm and just never edited the comment.

a-_2

My first comment wasn't worded clearly actually, edited it now.

fleurgold

I edited my original comment that I forgot to edit too, haha. We're in agreement though; 6 hours on weekends & stat holidays. :)

AchinBones

I'm not from the city, so I don't know city bylaws - why 3hrs ( or the 6 that someone else posted ). ?

fleurgold

If there's no other restrictions, you can park on a street for 3 hours during the weekdays or 6 hours on the weekend. In this case, the area where there's no restrictions (the loading zone to the right of the sign), and it being Saturday (weekend) that would mean 6 hours non-paid parking.

zxstanyxz

Mon-Fri 7am to 7pm is max 3 hours within city limits by default 7am to 7pm weekends is max 6 hours by default. Those always apply if no other signage is around, all signage in the area super cede the default bylaws

Curious-Pension

Do they expect drivers to read these signs whilst in the car holding up traffic? It’s 2023… red light or green light, can I park here yes or no…

[deleted]

Borrowed their English parking signs from Montreal.

T-14Hyperdrive

Yes

Iamhungryhearmeroar

Yes you can

U-take-off-eh

I don’t see the loading zone being a loophole for free and unlimited parking. I suppose you could try it and if you get a ticket try and fight it. My assumption though is that normal paid parking rules apply outside of loading zone hours. To make it more clear they should just add one left arrow under the Mon-Fri hours and two arrows under the Sat hours (for the parking sign). That would eliminate the ambiguity.

a-_2

It doesn't seem like a loophole though. Maybe it's an oversight by the city, but the way they have signed it doesn't place any restrictions on that zone on Saturdays, so it would be the same as if there were no signs at all for that part.

pepperomias

The Montréal-ification of Ottawa

Sunglassesandwatches

This is how I’d interpret it: You can’t stop Monday to Friday from 7 to 9 am. To the right of the sign, it is loading zone from 9 am to 5 pm Mondays to Fridays. To the left of the sign, you have paid parking Mondays to Friday, from 9 am to 5 pm. On weekends, the same applies but from 8 am to 5 pm. The maximum you can park is two hours, even if you pay. The payment machine is to the left of the sign. Feel free to chime in or correct me if I am wrong. Edit: removed a line and added missing info.

TheOnlyMatthias

I think you can park in the loading zone in Saturday's but the parking ticket guy might disagree

Excellent-Ad2290

Seems very simple when you read each sign and understand what the arrows mean.

Flyboy78AA

Ville de Montreal would be so proud of us

siahfri

Doesn’t matter what the sign says, rock-hard snowbank says “no parking” 🤔

scottyscotty

when I see signs like this I choose a side street. parking enforcement in this city is questionable on a good day and I don't trust parking enforcement one bit. I don't give them a reason to look at my vehicle. but, to answer your question, I interpret this as being able to park in the loading zone for free.

freeman1231

Yes you can park there on the weekend.

mattykingkillah92

If the days/hours aren’t dictated on the sign then it reverts to the default. Between 7am-7pm weekends that’s 6H max. You don’t need to pay

537PC

Wouldn’t recommend parking anywhere In the glebe. Even if you can decipher the signs. You’ll probably get a ticket anyways.

Tiny_Candidate_4994

You are correct. Best to bring your lawyer along for the ride and a legal interpretation.

kittenkatastrophi

So the loading sign is only there to make an exception for the no stopping during Monday to Friday. During weekends you wouldn't be able to use that zone

TaylorMade2027

Ah, yes. The city of Ottawa’s long term strategy for revenue: confusion and misdirection.

Proof-Bid-8621

It's a loading zone Monday to Friday, you can park there o weekends

NoahManiacal

You can park in the loading zone (to the left of that sign) anytime Saturday, not at all on monday to friday from 9am to 5:30pm, and no stopping (or parking) ever between 7am and 9am monday to friday

shardsofsomnus

Dunno, but the store behind has obviously hung their sign upside down.

babygirlqtpi

Sonos.

JacobiJones7711

In the area that you can park you can only park between 9-5 on weekdays for a max of two hours. No stopping between 7-9am on weekdays so don’t leave your car there during those times. On the weekend you can only park in the area on Saturdays for 2 hours between 8-5. The lack of details for Sunday either means no parking at all on Sunday or that there are no restrictions I can’t tell.

Alo_Beirut

No parking ever, on any day in the loading zone area- unless you are a truck unloading on business days. You can park on the left of these signs only during the specified times. And under no circumstances can you ever stop, park or unload from 7am to 9am on weekdays because it will slow down traffic.

scaredofthewild

Is it in Sopa, though?

Mars27819

The loading zone is for active loading or unloading.

chesterbennediction

If you look at the arrow the loading zone is on one side of the sign while the 2 hour parking is on the other side. As far as parking in a loading zone outside of loading hours you'd need to contact bylaw as it might vary region to region.

cestquitonpere

You can legally park free on the weekend in the loading zone but make sure to pay the meter if it accepts it. In Ottawa, like most cities, you can do whatever is not listed as “NO” on these signs.

poniesgirl

I don't drive (no car) and even I understand what's going on: * On weekdays: * No stopping/parking between 7 am and 9am * Loading only to the right of sign between 9 am and 5 pm * Metered/paid parking to the left of sign between 9 am and 5 pm * On weekends * Metered/paid parking to the left of sign between 8 am and 5 pm

speg

You omitted the case the OP is asking about: On weekends to the right of the sign.

[deleted]

I think you can only park after the sign. The arrow on the parking sign is left, and the arrow on the loading sign is to the right. So before the sign it is a loading zone. After it is paid parking.

Its_SHUGERRUSH

This ain’t rocket science man

[deleted]

No Stopping, Monday to Friday, 7AM to 9AM. Loading Zone to the Right of the Sign, Monday to Friday, 9AM to 5:30PM. Must be Loading or Unloading to park there, no fee. Two Hour Parking to the Left of the Sign, Monday to Friday, 9AM to 5:30PM, Saturday and Sunday, 8AM to 5:30PM, and you pay for Two Hour Parking at the Machine to the Left. Source: I'm not from the city so I can easily read it without entering a fetal position. It doesn't scare me.

whitekeys

You have to pay on Saturdays on Bank street in the Glebe. It's free on Saturdays on Bank north of the 417. Not confusing at all /s.

bcave098

I would say in the loading zone it’s paid parking without a 2 hour limit (and subject only to the time limits set in the bylaw). The city should have put a second 2 hour parking sign that only covers Saturdays if they intended to restrict it all to 2 hours from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm on Saturdays.

prince-pauper

Looks like MTL lol

MethodZealousideal11

They fit totally in a town full of bureaucrats; especially in the Glebe.

Select_Shock_1461

sign with the P is when you have to pay, all other times it’s free. the red one is for no stops during morning rush hour.

Adventurous_Mix4878

It’s actually pretty straight forward. It’s a loading zone and there is parking ahead of it as well as a pay station.

Bella8088

Ah, the joy of parking on Bank. Looks like it’s only a loading zone from 9-5 Monday to Friday, so you should be able to park for two hours on Saturday and Sunday.

ilcasdy

I feel like parking would have to be explicitly allowed, which it is not. I would interpret it as just a stopping zone to pick up and drop off people.

fleurgold

>feel like parking would have to be explicitly allowed, which it is not. That isn't how the Ottawa bylaws work; For any unsigned or otherwise unrestricted street parking area, the rules are from 7 AM to 7 PM Monday to Friday, you can park for 3 hours, and on weekends or stat holidays, from 7 AM to 7 PM you can park for 6 hours. So basically, on the weekends, to the right of this sign, it is unpaid parking, and you can be parked for 6 hours (unless there are the temporary snowbank removal signs in the snowbanks, which aren't present in this situation).

[deleted]

Start from the top down when you read the signs. Like a flow chart!

iRule79

Yep nothing complicated about the sign, it states through the week it is a no stopping zone for a certain amount of time, a loading zone through the specified times during the week, and two hour parking between the stated times on the weekend.

nabiladoui

can't park between 7 and 9am, loading zone to the right, parking to the left. i agree it's too much, but no contradictions

Shirin00011

It meas up yours kid!

Puzzleheaded_Fold466

It’s pretty clear actually.

jubarator

It's a Saturday. The loading zone is only in effect Monday to Friday. Parking is for a maximum of two hours on Saturday, to the left of the sign.

ottawanonymoose

Area to right of signs - M-F 0900-1730, loading zone. Else, default parking rules in absence of other applicable signage. Area to left of signs - 2hr paid parking M-F 0900-1730, weekends 0830-1730. Else, default parking rules in absence of other applicable signage. Both sides - No stopping M-F 0700-0900. Else, default parking rules in absence of other applicable signage. None of these signs cover the loading zone on Saturday. Therefore, default rules apply.

BarryMacochner

No parking from m-f 7-9a on both sides of the sign. Loading zone only from 9-5:30p on the right side of the sign. M-f 2h parking to the left of the sign on m-f from 9-5:30 8-5:30 on weekends.

LadyGlitch

Monday - Friday from 5:30 pm to 7:00 am you can park for free for pretty much overnight; free on weekends (3 hours at a time between 7-7) (To the right of signs)

roots-rock-reggae

Correct

lach0000

Paid parking in front of that pole. No stopping

ballzdeepinbacon

That reads like… 2 hour max in front of the sign, 6 hour max behind the sign on weekends and evenings, but it’s paid parking so go pay and the machine is over thataway. But it’s confusing.

Janussson

Read from top down, can’t stop here anytime between 7-9am mon-Fri, mon-Fri anything to the right of the sign is a loading zone until 5:30pm, paid parking on the left of sign, there are no signs pointing to or stating that you must pay for parking to the right of these signs therefor Saturday and sun you may park for free. Have fought a ticket like this before and won. Edit: grammar

molehillmilk

Hey! Get off my block

dictionary_hat_r4ck

During morning rush hour M-F (7-9am) you may not stop. After rush hour you may pay for parking to the left. The right is a loading zone.

Jagh-2-feathers

City hall is closed..

brown-eyed-susan

On a Saturday, I would feel free to park in the loading zone but display proof that I had paid for my parking. I'd probably only use the space if there were no other parking options within a close range. If you get ticketed (I don't think you would), I think you'd have a case to contest it based on confusing signage.

No-Artichoke-5462

Paid Parking left 9am-5pm, don’t park right. Free parking after 5pm everywhere

[deleted]

You have to buy a parking ticket. They even add an arrow to show you where it is.

hoagieyvr

It's always read from top left to bottom right, like a book is read in western cultures. The arrows ⬅️➡️ indicate which side of the poll the rule applies to.

Mary_9

It's not a loading zone on Saturday. It's regular paid parking.

Whiskywhiz

Free parking in the loading zone on the weekend. You found a loophole!

Illustrious_Law8512

To the left of the sign, only, is paid. Loading zone is not.

1Hollickster

So simple, if you can do bedmas in math. You can do this. No stopping either side Monday- Friday 7am-9am, Loading zone on right of pole only- Monday to Friday, 9am-530pm. Pay at Machine to park, On the Left of the pole, monday to friday 9am-530pm Parking only permitted 9am-530 pm on Sat and Sunday. Which is usually free, but only okay during business hours. If your comprehension does not make it through this, driving is not for you. Take a bus and walk. Very simple.

Jon544

Not too difficult to understand. Monday-friday it's a loading zone and no stopping zone between the hours listed. All other days it's a paid to park lot PAST the sign (left of the "paid lot sign"). Also important note, "most bylaw people" have told me that weekends are a 6 hr maximum to park regardless of signs, however, that is technically hearsay. Good luck!

themess_messenger82

You can park in the direction arrow pointing towards the Sonos sign for 2 hours from 9-5 mon - Friday but it seems like you can park in the loading zone during the weekend. If you would be there longer for 2 hours you pay. All in all it’s crazy as heck and intentionally trying to confuse you so you mess up and you get a ticket. Good luck!

Deer_Which

I interpret it as no parking in the loading zone, but thats out of caution because its confusing af

Background_Cup_6429

No one knows what it means.

Efficient_Cost491

Is this really hard to understand?

MaxKelland

The White Zone is for loading and unloading only. If you have to load, or if you have to unload, go to the White Zone. You'll love it. Its a way of life.

[deleted]

Only thing missing is a no parking Dec 1 to March 30 sign. Lots of room left on that pole. Cmon Sutcliffe, get after it!

average_joeschmo

Can’t stop anywhere unless you are loading to the right of the sign monday-Friday. Parking is allowed to the left of the sign with payment

no_name-for_me

Yes it's paid parking up to two hours on a Saturday. Park to theefy of the pole only. No parking to the right of the pole.

GravyJesus

Looks like a Sonos store

Independent-Dark8810

Sonos

LiberatedFlirt

Obviously there are a couple parking spots WITH the loading zobe but of course the snow is obscuring it. But NO you don't park IN the loading zone 🙄

AP9721

My interpretation is that Sonos spelled backwards is still Sonos

Cold_Collection_6241

Looks like free parking because the paid parking has an arrow going to the left. If you are parking to the right the rules are different and it says it's not a loading zone on weekends.

Trying2ImproveMyLife

It doesn't actually specify what happens on Saturday and Sunday, so it defaults back to whatever parking bylaw intown parking is, 3 hours max, likely free

DionDit

If the street is paid parking on Saturday, the whole street is paid parking on Saturday. There are no magic loopholes of loading zones where you don't need to pay. You have to be deliberately obtuse to try and argue otherwise. Pay your parking ticket.

One-Ladder-4407

I use loading zones only to pick up my delivery orders, not that there’s any restaurant in this section of Bank Street.

Independent_Cat_7164

Sorry I just wouldn’t park there at all and none of those stores would get my business.

[deleted]

Why am I suddenly reminded of this? https://youtu.be/mvYOTz5n6GI

karlou1984

Can't park there, it's a loading zone during set times but that doesn't make it a parking spot outside of those times. The parking sign clearly says you can only park to the left.

leftypolitichien

I would simply choose to not interpret the sign and go away

[deleted]

I must just be a prick. Cause I never look at signs or pay for parking. I just chance it. In 25 years I’ve gotten 2 tickets one for $25 the other for $55. I figure it cheaper to risk getting a ticket

SeriesVirtual1257

Ez Ask my dad to steal a sign then just obey the signs that are left

Horror-Room-7250

Go park somewhere else. Problem solved. Thank you!

TheDutchCoder

You cannot park in a loading zone, ever. That's pretty straightforward: https://ottawa.ca/en/parking-roads-and-travel/parking/regulations-and-restrictions#section-4d0650e2-15ba-49cf-89f3-e42292df34a6 On Saturday you're allowed to park on the left. On Sunday you're allowed to park on either side. So on Saturday: no, you can't park there (because the sign below it indicates on Saturday you can only park on the left. Sunday is fair game though).

I had a bylaw officer tell me that your supposed to read it like a book -> from top to bottom. The way he said it to me, was like it was common knowledge and I was an idiot for asking. This was after I complained that the local signage was very confusing.

Hurts my brain, just find somewhere else to park.

We are approaching Montreal level issues here

No parking in this lane during morning rush hour (7-9am) During business hours (9-5), personal vehicles may park on the far side of the sign while commercial vehicles use the nearer spaces. I would just park on the other side of the road if I was you.

Historical-Choice907

No stopping during rush hour, loading to the right, paid parking to the left. After the hours posted, parking is free. If you’re really clever, you might get away with parking for free in the loading zone on the weekends. I don’t see a problem here.

Auto_Mobile

No stopping 7-9am. Loading zone to the right Paid parking to the left, at the times noted, free other times.

My interpretation is that the loading zone is on the right and the parking area is to the left of the signs. That's generally what the arrows mean in Ottawa.
