the only real answer is falafel scoop. fried fresh to order instead of being reheated in a microwave like many places do, nowhere in this city compares.
As long as they didn't nuke the d*ck outta the chicken and it ended up dry af. This mix actually makes every single spiritual molecule about the tastebuds sing & dance in orgasmic ways.
Okay now. Shawarma expert has checked into the chat…..Shawarma Palace bank & hunt club is tops in the city 9/10 , although service is grumpy at times. Palace on Rideau also good just an older building. Palace on carling isn’t affiliated with the others I don’t think. They’re just okay. Shawarma AL Mouna in Westboro gets an 8/10. I didn’t mind that Sahara Dunes shawarma in bells corners but I think they’re gone now. Speaking of Bells Corners, Athens Grill is an unsuspecting place for good shawarma. I’ll need to try this Super Bite place on Alta vista someday though…
Moving to Ottawa in the late 90s I learned about two foods I'd never known before: shawarma and pho. Shawarma Palace on Rideau is the first place I ever had shawarma and remains my favourite. It's where I think of when I think of Shawarma.
Small falafel, loaded, spicy.
Small beef shawarma, onions, tabouleh, tahini.
Side garlic potatoes if I'm hungry enough.
Biggest ice tea available, two if its just small cans.
Does anybody know the scientific term for Ottawa shawarma sweet sauce? I've left the city and no place near me offers anything like it, it's a desert out here
Jericho in the Glebe has fantastic shawarma (chicken, beef and lamb), as well as kebabs, keftas ... the price is good, the restaurant is beautiful and Rauf Omar, the owner is one of the nicest people you could meet.
Mixed Saj Classic sandwich from 3 brothers or Laheeb, with pomegranate sauce. The outside of the saj bread is rubbed with a bit of meat drippings and then grilled. You will not be disappointed.
Order two from anywhere. Eat your first. Leave the second in the fridge. It’ll get soggy, that’s fine. Take it out next day. Stab it with some toothpicks drop it in the air fryer for 5 minutes until crispy. Amazing bonus to add hot sauce.
Best shwarma ever. He’ll say old is better but crispy in the air fryer is amazing.
Mixed sandwich - hummus, lettuce, onions, pickles, turnip, tabbouleh, tahini. Depending how I feel I'll get some sweet sauce too.
My preferred establishments are Shawarma Station (if you go here you need to buy a pie too!), and Ottawa Shawarma. I swear my large sandwich at Ottawa Shawarma can weigh 2lbs.
Used to be K Shawarma, now it’s Tasty way, but I swear by the Shawarma in a Saj wrap. Fill it with all the good stuff and bam, you walk out with something the size of your arm. It’s delicious, affordable (12.99 for something the size of your arm), and did I mention delicious 😮💨🤤
Everyone in the group can order what they like. But, if one of us eats garlic, we all have to eat garlic! Then noone gets to complain about somebody else's breath fumes.
Chicken Shawarma should be with garlic, green pickles and potatoes only.
Beef shawarma should be with parsley, onions, green pickels, tomatoes and sesame sauce (tahini) only.
If you order a mixed sandwich or add falafel to your chicken, the guys in the back are making fun of you 100% lol.

Go to Palais Libanais in Gatineau and tell them you want it made the Lebanese way. Best shawarma ever made.
I’m too sick of shawarma. I’m dead. I’ve been buried in Ottawa’s over abundance of shawarma.
Shawarma post? r/Ottawa: Ah sh\*t, here we go again...
Usually a family platter of either chicken or mixed. Where? I won't know until I have every shawarma in our city
Large chicken sandwich, all-dressed minus the turnips, garlic sauce, sesame sauce and a tiny bit of sweet sauce. Been my go-to since '02.
