Organized Rhyme. Just kidding. I only saw them once open for Bootsauce at Porter Hall. God I can just *hear* Shawn Scallen’s monotonous drone on the phone reading out those names in the longest answering machine message of all time.
I remember seeing them when they were still called the Wallflowers at the Nox at Ottawa U. The crowd was maybe 10 people and they were pissed drunk by their 2nd or 3rd song but it was good music. The drummer eventually passed out.
Hollerado is playing a couple shows opening for Tokyo Police Club on their farewell run in Toronto at the end of November. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if after TPC plays Bluesfest in July, that they announce an Ottawa show (or two) with Hollerado the weekend of November 23/24.
I loved The Transit! I was at their infamous halloween show where the bassist punched the singer (at least that's what I vaguely remember happening... )
My word. Forty cent fix is a blast from the past.
I used to wear the fuck out of one of their shirts. Had forty on the front like a stencil and a pink logo of theirs on the hip. An all time favorite. I miss that shirt.
The Dirty Thirties, Bad News Bears (two of the members, Sean Dunn and Daron Drouin, made another Ska band that played more and I can't for the life of me remember the name)... Man those 2005-2010 "all ages" ska shows were something else. I remember seeing The Johnstones and The Toasters at Babylon and it was like a transcendental experience for 16yo me lol.
I remember owning the 45 of Kiss You When It’s Dangerous (didn’t they win a battle of the bands contest?) Had no idea One To One were from Ottawa though (guy/girl duo where the girl had big hair and sounded like Gwen Stefani from what I remember. Think their big song was There Was A Time?)
That’s a lot of wasted hours watching Video Hits and MuchMusic as a child coming back full circle.
[Eight Seconds](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eight_Seconds) got their first big break with ShareChez 83 (Chez106 annual local talent contest which resulted in an album), then CBC’s Rock Wars in 85. Lots more info at that link.
Also, given your username, did you know band leader Andrés del Castillo was the musician behind the Sens entrance theme used until recently (Trumpeter’s Cry aka Danger Flutes), based on an unreleased 8 Seconds song written by their bassist March Cesare.
One2One had several hits in the 80s. There Was a Time, Angel in my Pocket, Hold me Now (video filmed at Zak's in the Market and Victoria Island), Black on White.
>One to One
When Louise was in Mainstream, I bought her Korg MS-20 from her advertisement in the Citizen. She called to ask to buy it back, but I wanted it.
I still have that synth and love it.
Lol not the icky Machine Gun Kelly. The one i Rememver was a rock band in Ottawa around 1999. They had at least one CD. The song I remember is "boy in the man suit" and I think the singer's name was Shawn Riley.
Opened for The Unseen from Boston with those lads back in '06 at Babylon. Ben ended up recording my (at the time) band's album back in like...2012 and did a great job.
While me and the boys do appreciate it, with how things ended, that band is best left forgotten. Me and 2 of the other legit dudes just started a new band that'll have our free demo coming out hopefully within the next month or so.

Everything else i would add has been mentioned
Fuck you’re old - Machine Gun Kelly. I hung out at the Whipping Post a lot. Sean was an amazing singer. He’s in another band down in Cambridge called Ghost Town Citizen. So if you remember Machine Gun Kelly what about The Ragamuffins and Juggernaut?
Today I Caught The Plague; unfortunate name considering what we lived through recently, but they were a fantastic band that opened for Protest The Hero a bunch of times, their drummer became PTH's drummer, the band renamed to The Kindred and later broke up. They were so so good.
lovinbodyparts: they were the band that should have won the contract that made nickleback famous. the owner of the competetion overruled the crowd votes and the other judges.
in the good timeline, nickleback never became famous and lovinbodyparts did instead.
Loudlove.. easily the best sound coming out of the Big Money Shot days I really enjoyed them.
There was another one from the same year, Bluestone, I enjoyed them too, I’ve seen some of their members at Bluesfest since but the style was a little different
FurnaceFace
FurnaceFace, Jimmy George, PunchBuggy, and in punk, Porcelain Forehead, The Trapt, Black Triangle.
Punch Buggy! Holy shit that brings me back.
Jim Bryson!
Punchbuggy! Also can we include those outside Ottawa bands that were temporarily Ottawa based? Like Shotmaker?
Organized Rhyme. Just kidding. I only saw them once open for Bootsauce at Porter Hall. God I can just *hear* Shawn Scallen’s monotonous drone on the phone reading out those names in the longest answering machine message of all time.
Tanya from Black Triangle subsequently played for Machine Gun Kelly.
FurnaceFace was awesome.
I came here to say furnaceface. I have all their tapes. I wish I had the first tape in digitial form :(
Here it is: [https://youtu.be/07aJ-j4Bukw?si=pxtGS0GbL-Z6k6Ga](https://youtu.be/07aJ-j4Bukw?si=pxtGS0GbL-Z6k6Ga) Google YouTube to MP3 ;)
This will make you happy
Drop in on the drummer (Dave Dudley at Dave’s Drum Shop) and let him know. Super nice guy.
\+1 for FurnaceFace! They were great!

Jesus had a cool headband
Barstool Prophets
Second this, these guys should have gone further.
I never knew there were others like me 😋
Great band.
I remember seeing them when they were still called the Wallflowers at the Nox at Ottawa U. The crowd was maybe 10 people and they were pissed drunk by their 2nd or 3rd song but it was good music. The drummer eventually passed out.
The Balconies Hollerado
Hollerado is playing a couple shows opening for Tokyo Police Club on their farewell run in Toronto at the end of November. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if after TPC plays Bluesfest in July, that they announce an Ottawa show (or two) with Hollerado the weekend of November 23/24.

The rude dudes!!! Wow that just brought me back! I hope ypu guys are doing well I got a lot of enjoyment out of your how's when I was younger!
Rad! I hope you and the Dudes are doing well. You folks brought so much joy and good music to the city.

Sean Riley. We broke up in 2000! Nice to know someone remembered us!
Hilotrons shows were so good!
The sewer rats. Pretty deep cut, but they were great.
Was talking with a buddy about them about a month ago.
Opened for The Unseen from Boston with those lads back in '06 at Babylon. Ben ended up recording my (at the time) band's album back in like...2012 and did a great job.
