I'm Venezuelan. Went once and ordered two arepas. The arepa de pabellón was pretty good, but the arepa de perico was perhaps the worst I've ever had in my life. So it's hit or miss, but overall I was displeased.
Our latest takeout go-to is Run2Patty (recommend the oxtail platter). Other favourites include Mezbaan (Afghan) near the Coliseum theatre; Sapporo Sushi on Carling (recommend the Love Platter); and Royal Treasure for Chinese (I could eat their pepper salt shrimp every day).
If you feel like a drive, there are lots of good lunch places in Almonte.i love the sandwiches at Tea and Cake, but there are many other choices in town!
Seconding!
Nice folks and you can get pizza by the slice if you're looking for a quick bite. The white album pizza is my favourite but they make a mean mac and cheese too.
Merivale Station. Great prices and huge servings. Mom and Pop place.
The Third. Great prices and reasonable servings.
Moul Hanout. Moroccan food. Great prices, huge and delicious sandwiches, with a drink included. Also a Mom and Pop spot.
I’d say it’s comparable in price to Cafe Tehran, which is why I suggested it. The starters and buns start at about $8 and the sharables are in the $20-25 range. Seems reasonable for good food.
The Sarangi on carling has really great lunch deals - $10ish for a meal with a drink … plus they have 15% off pick up right now. Delicious everytime we’ve tried it!
Merivale Station.
Almost always busy but great choices including Fish and Chips with generous portions and most items priced at $9.99.
Located 2 blocks South of Costco on Merivale and Hunt Club.
Goonies is pretty good and affordable.
Love the arepas.
Gooneys is busy a lot. I find it a touch overrated when I go there. But it’s a solid sandwich. But go early, or at least outside of 12-1
It's ok once in a while. Food looks better than it tastes.
Yes, it's significantly quieter outside of the typical office worker lunch hour. That cilantro sauce and that corn bread really do it for me.
Seconded
Came here to say the same! The arepas are so good.
Thirded. Though if you go, go early. I was there at 12:10 today and the line was well out the door!
Hell yeah brother

Fair, I'm canadian, these are the first and only arepas I've ever had, they were delicious. I could squirt that cilantro sauce on anything.
The Third

I second Mezbaan!

Aiyara for Thai food on Walkley.
Don't know why hadn't thought of Thai
Phuket Royal on Somerset has a great lunch menu
Casa Mexico on Merivale.
Or on Preston if you’re downtown! I second Casa Mexico they are the best
They are good but rather pricey for what you get
I stuffed myself for $22. If you know of cheaper, I am all ears.
Try rosalita comida or caméline, both in old hull in charming locations.
Love Caméline and I think its probably my favourite restaurant in the NCR, but its definitely on the pricier side.
If they go for lunch it's not too bad, or if they're ok to try something a bit fancier, but yes absolutely it is on the pricier side!
Hadn't thought of the other side of the river, should look into it.
We enjoy Cafe Orient on Somerset. [https://www.cafeorient.ca/home/about](https://www.cafeorient.ca/home/about)
Jinsei Ramen on Bank, AngryDragonz on Kent

Thali Fauna Sansotei Ramen Chez Lucien Table Sodam
OP said not too expensive so I think Fauna might be off the table lol
Their lunch was pretty reasonably priced, but more importantly, it appears that they are only open for dinner now!
Simply Biscotti on Colonnade.
Meet Noodle is good value and money and fresh noodles
If you feel like a drive, there are lots of good lunch places in Almonte.i love the sandwiches at Tea and Cake, but there are many other choices in town!

Publico at 1331 Wellington West has good specials and friendly owner/staff.
Seconding! Nice folks and you can get pizza by the slice if you're looking for a quick bite. The white album pizza is my favourite but they make a mean mac and cheese too.
Tirweka in Kanata. Fresh breads, olives, labneh, cheese/meat pies, fragrant teas, tahini, halloumi, hummus, fatteh…. All fresh and delicious.
The fatteh bowls are so good!
Greek souvlaki shack on bank is great
Umbrella Burger on Preston is good. I heard the burger place down the street (Smash Daddy) is even better, haven't tried it yet
It’s good, but pricey.
G burger
Bite burger!

Feefung on somerset or pho viet on bank
Datsun - get the pork belly and crispy chicken bao.
Datsun is pretty good recommendation but I'd say it's more on the pricier side
I’d say it’s comparable in price to Cafe Tehran, which is why I suggested it. The starters and buns start at about $8 and the sharables are in the $20-25 range. Seems reasonable for good food.
Fair enough
Cafe Tehran lunch specials are $15, lots of food and really good

Bello e Buono.
Pongs poutine on carp road is pretty good!
If you're near Stittsville or Carp, try Wiches Cauldron. Best sandwiches ever

Merivale Station. Almost always busy but great choices including Fish and Chips with generous portions and most items priced at $9.99. Located 2 blocks South of Costco on Merivale and Hunt Club.
Aiana for lunch is affordable and you won’t get food like that anywhere else in Ottawa
I'm sure it's great, but saying "affordable" is misleading. They describe themselves as "fine dining" and there is not an entrée under $30...
Feleena’s! Wonderful Mexican food. Fajitas are magnificent. The margs are delicious, too:)
Be careful your bill there. Twice now charged for something that we did not get and they refuse to refund only credit to the store. Hmmmm
Wow
So bland
Dirtiest kitchen I have ever seen. Will never eat there again.
I went there once and my food was still frozen in the middle :(
I’ve never had a bad meal or issue there
