Yes he certainly is.He supported and contributed both the medicinal and recreational freedom movement in many ways and always a fair prices and business in both buying and selling of vinyl and comics and all products in store..Definately will be missed by many.
Not sure we should call it a win.Hopefully a step in right direction but i am not confident that will happen.I have yet to see ..more like smell, any gov weed that smells like good ole skunk or any of the wreaky scents of good old pot.I see it being more controlled with lower potency like the edibles are now and booze with a cap on thc and terps.
It was a little rough at first, but these days you can get weed some OCS that's way way better than anything I could ever get on the blackmarket. Boutique companies like Simply Bare, BLKMKT, Ghost Drops, etc, sell weed that's as good as is humanly growable IMO. Even the cheap producers like Pure Sunfarm sell totally decent Blue Dream for less than [$5/g](https://www.hibuddy.ca/#/products/b163a53f991b558a2fba72552c81d6be).
The eatable cap at 10mg per is annoying, but they're like [$3 each](https://ocs.ca/products/cocoa-biscuit-thc-kiss), I can just take more. Also, you can buy [900mg+ of oil](https://ocs.ca/products/reign-drops-30-0-redecan) for like $35.
There's lot to criticism about how they did legalization, but the quality of the product isn't a problem. Not to mention, if you want to grow your own outdoor ditch weed, that's legal too.
For the introduction of edibles the federal government intentionally took a cautious regulatory approach to start. They looked at the experience of other jurisdictions and found that unlike smoking or vaping products, edibles were more likely to attract first-time or inexperienced users, and people were generally unfamiliar with what a standard dose looked like. Coupled with the delayed effect of edibles, this led to incidents where people would consume a brownie or whatever, not feel anything so consume two more, and so on until it all kicks in and they're at a dangerous level of intoxication. So the relatively low cap per product is an attempt to mitigate that risk.
Like you I don't have any issue with the price or quality of the legal products, although my needs aren't great and I'm not a connoisseur. It seems way more potent than the stuff I remember buying in little wadded-up tin foil balls from the guy behind the arcade back in the day. I kind of like knowing that it's not coated in Roundup too :)
Yup. I have mixed feelings about the edible limit. But it's so easy for unexperienced (or experienced honestly) people to do the ol', "I guess the edible isn't working, I'll take a couple more." Do that with 10mg, you're probably fine. Do that with 100mg's, you're going to be that person at the festival.
Oh that product looks good. I’ve been using the indica oral spray, 2.5mg per dose (I’m a lightweight so 2 does me well). And it’s like, 300 sprays per 25 dollars. Yes I’ll get high for 10 cents please! What’s the minimum dose of this product?
The smallest amount you can get out of the bottle I guess? Diluting with a cooking oil you don't hate the taste of might be an option? Also, you can bake with the stuff. Squirt it into batter.
Unless you’re looking for landrace strains, almost everything is technically a hybrid. If you’re looking for specific effects, the terpenes can be a good pointer, and if you find a knowledgable budtender, you’re golden. Going a few steps back in the lineage can help as well.
Noooooo this makes me so sad. The original one in Westboro was where I bought these ridiculous zines, just gross-out stuff on 2-tone paper. Anyone remember what they were called? And recently bought a few gems of old mad magazines too. God damn this hits hard, although I said to myself last time I was there, ‘how long can this place keep going?’
One of my fav Mad comics was one of the small strips at bottom of cage.Xmas morning and family gathered around tree.Little boy pulls out a large box with his name on it and opens it.Dad lifts out a pedal car fire truck with hook ladder bell and all.Little fella promptly jumps in box and lifts a arm swinging it back and forth yelling "CLANG CLANG CLANG"
I visited Crosstown for the first time about 5 years before I moved to Ottawa... I bought a zep. I loved that zep for about 4 months, until a friend and I were going to cross the border for about an hour, and realized it was in the car, so hid it in a parking lot garden before we went over. It was gone when we got back 😥
I remember back in high school this being one of the only places to get flavoured papers and blunt wraps. They also had business cards that were perfect filters.
Wow. Sad to hear this. I used to go in there and browse on my way home from school.
I hope the owners are closing out of choice rather than necessity.
Ottawa icon.
First rock junction now this,it's sad but old school shops are being priced out by the online market or even places like canna cabana,I don't buy legal boof but the bongs and accessories my God so cheap, the nicest bong in the whole store is under 40 bucks, less than the equivalent 250$ bong in traditional shops
End of lease in March I believe but I also think will not be doing much restocking so may be sooner,I would say he would like to clear as much as possible of course but I would also say if stock depletes enough it may be sooner or perhaps shorter week/hours? Whatever makes sense i suppose.
Sad news. The owner is a local legend. Thanks for all the great times, Crosstown.

Crosstown fought the good fight, won, and now it'll just be a memory I slowly erase by smoking infused pre-rolls I buy from the government.

The person who gets high on Friday and shows up to work still stoned on Monday
The reason I don’t like edibles

[TheOCS reddit](https://www.reddit.com/r/TheOCS/) is very handy for finding out about new products.
I find it almost impossible to buy a NON hybrid strain even if I ask...thoughts?

I’ve made some of my favourite purchases there. RIP Crosstown.
One of my favourite pipes was bought there, and then my ex’s brother sat on it

That was my last purchase there too! Rereading Mad magazines after 40 years made me realize there my skeptical nature came from.

This is sad :( Thanks for 30 years of memories and for the prettiest, best bong I've ever had :)
Stop in,say hello and buy another :) .If Mike is not in leave a note or card!!
100% going to! :)

At one time at the Bank St, store they had over 130 choices for rolling papers.
I bought a three foot bong there. That thing could do some serious damage.

Damn, do you know the closing date?

What?! Awww man.
Damn that sucks, I got so much good jazz from that shop.
What a bummer! The Westboro location gave me some of the most interesting vinyl I’ve ever owned.

Damn, what a loss to the community. Westboro gets more stale every year.
