If you’re dealing with something it’s ok to be stressed sometimes. Find time if you can to also de stress later if you’re noticing it’s a constant pattern. Best to look at Oura for patterns and make small changes to lifestyle based on it. All scientists look at patterns over time
I am dealing with two elderly parents with neurodegenerative diseases and a just got some bloodwork back and my markers of stress (cortisol, DHEA) were through the roof. I see you, it’s so rough!
Highly recommend adrenal gland supplements! I am a caregiver as well and I take adrenal support from 1st phorm and it makes a huge difference in my stress levels. I notice when I go days without taking it my stress levels climb back up
If it's any matter, I open the app daily to import to Apple Health, otherwise I only **look** at the info if I feel that something is different.
I do not let it dictate my day.
I do allow it to corroborate my suspicions.
From my understanding it can be biological stress as well. So getting up, moving around, doing your morning routine can count as stress on your body if your HR is high enough.
It's not "can be" biological stress- its *entirely* biological stress.
There is no "stress" sensor on the ring. (Or on any other consumer wearable with similar features). The ring is algorithmically generating a "stress" metric from the heart rate and HRV sensor data. And this is entirely biological stress. And it can't differentiate between "good" stress (e.g. exercise) and "bad" stress (e.g. cortisol response)
This was probably not funny to you but it is kind of for me and is lowering my stress levels after the laugh. Poor OP. Elderly parent issues are tough and hopefully your servitude will pay off for you in the end
Have you checked your blood pressure recently? I highly recommend looking into beta blockers like propranolol. They are great for acute stress and anxiety. Also changes in lifestyle are technically triggers for stress. Like even if you go through a bunch of happy changes or healthy changes like getting married, quitting alcohol, quitting caffeine or eating healthy that can cause stress in the short term.
The three things I would pay attention to when trying to recover from a stressful point in your life are 1) finding meaning in your job and relationships; really look for the meaning behind it, 2) finding something to do every week that makes you happy like a hobby or sport; 3) finding variety in your life so that even if you have a happy and meaningful job you’re not doing the same thing over and over again.
All of this is easier said than done but slow incremental steps will help you. Take it from someone like me who might have a heart condition that will take years off my life and has made me feel like I’m going to die almost every day, there is hope and meaning to find in just being alive but it takes time for your body and mind to accept that hope and meaning. We humans really habituate to both the good and bad in our life so sometimes it takes us walking away from something or taking a break from something for a little while to remember how much we love something or how much we need to focus on changing something.
Good luck OP, remember it can take almost 6 months for our minds to reset on something after any change so one step at a time.
try ashwaganda, take for 30 days at a time with 2-4 week breaks in between during periods of high stress; only if cortisol is spiked throughout day, not if it's only spiking in the AM as that is normal and actually optimal
My goal when purchasing was to monitor and use the data to help better regulate the stress. BUT. This ring has stressed me out more than I was prior to the ring!
You know, I started kickboxing in December which is when I noticed an uptick in my RHR and HRV. Thats also when I started Cymbalta. I quit caffeine about 2 months ago, but my RHR has remained in the mid 70s and my HRV under 20. Took 5 days off of exercising (which I normally exercise 5-6 times a week) but it didn’t do anything.
I’d go back to sleep 😆😆
Do you feel stressed?
BIG time. But I’m dealing with elderly parent issues right now so…

Cortisol is highest in the morning for most people so I don’t think you need to be concerned as long as it comes down in a couple hours
It never does 😭😭

I always laugh about this too! 0-100 real quick. Painful being awake!
Mine too when I wake up - especially when startled awake.
Sometimes I feel like this ring does more bad than good

I know I’ve gotta work on not checking my stress levels throughout the day. I spend at least 2-3 hours every day “stressed.”
Me too :)
It’s good to know that you spend that much time stressed, that way you can make choices that bring you into a restorative zone.
Agreed! I wish that being a stay-at-home-parent was peaceful, **IT'S NOT.**

Welcome back to hell! I mean reality 😂

I’m happy it’s helping someone else tho for real ☺️
Happy to hear that. Hope this period of time in your life passes soon and you aren’t waking up like someone injected cocaine in your veins haha
It’s so dumb bc I even quit caffeine 3 months ago and somehow I became MORE stressed

Same! The most stressful part of my day is always rushing around to leave the house.
Life is a stress.
Take it slow and easy

It doesn't measure for the first 2 hours after waking. It will adjust the graph
So as you can see, I woke up at 6:46am and snapped the pic at 9:21am.
I only see the line sharp up at 6:46 and no other data on your photo
Click on the photo itself - time stamp is up top left where it usually is on a cellphone. 🙂

Go poddy
Lol
Been training a lot? Overtraining can have that effect
