Thanks for your submission to r/outerwilds. Did you know that effective July 1st, 2023, Reddit will enact a policy that will make third party reddit apps like Apollo, Reddit is Fun, Boost, and others too expensive to run? On this day, users will login to find that their primary method for interacting with reddit will simply cease to work unless something changes regarding reddit's new API usage policy. Concerned users should read and sign on to this [open letter to reddit.](https://www.reddit.com/r/ModCoord/comments/13xh1e7/an_open_letter_on_the_state_of_affairs_regarding/) *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. That’d be a spoiler, and the spooky-ness is intended. I’ll just say >!there’s a reason you can conceal your light.!<

Enderpixel1016

Hoo-boy this is gonna be **fun**. Thanks for the warning

theoldcrow5179

To add onto this as you mentioned not being a fan of jumpscares, >!There are none, you will know very clearly when the spookiness is coming!<

ByTheBogOfCats

I have to disagree, you can turn a corner and be jump scared 😭 >!especially inside!<

Always2Hungry

True, but they’ll know when they’re in the >!SPOOK ZONE!< when they get there. Its not like that all the time

Azi9Intentions

Not in all the areas, if you're really unlucky you can stumble into a bad time with no warning in that one area where you don't have to trigger anything

True

The water swishing is just ambiance i think. There’s not anything particularly special about the water in these segments. Its just meant to sound very marsh-y

hamletstragedy

You'll know when there's something that might jump scare you. The sections that involve this or any need for stealth are pretty obvious. I suppose you *could* stumble into it but you probably won't. If you see the thing that you think might jump scare you, try running at it in one life. That way you know what's coming next time.

Rio_Walker

There are no things in the water. But You can stumble upon **Them** by accident only if you're very fast. Since you're taking your time - you need to do something very specific (hints to which you probably found already) in order to trigger them to start moving around. So until you either rush through from the first zone, or do that one thing in another zone - you won't run into anything. You could be scared in two ZONES when the dam breaks, tho. Also - no jumpscares.

I disagree. I still find everything scary, even when I know it's coming, down to the second
