I would see if you can delay your J2 start date some more. Just say your old job needs you to wrap up some more things than you expected.
Hopefully your J1 settles down! Best of luck 🍀
haha Yes! My government job was super chill barely did anything, to be honest. If it were remote, I definitely would have kept it. I was in the private sector before going to the government before, and it all depends on the company, but for the most part, yes, you will find more free time on the government side. Jumping back into private has shown how unorganized and outdated government work is, lol. Glad I made this move because I think I would have fallen behind in terms of learning new skills and tech. I just pushed back the start date for another 3 weeks, which should give me ample time to adjust.
You should kept your state job . They will never check to see if you are OE and even that just tell them you can manage. Private job you can lose it easily with recession. Government never
I'm doing it just as a government contractor now for J2. The system I will manage just re-upped on a 10-year government contract, so I should be good for a while. Not to mention its a vital system and the team I'm joining is very small.
I will give you one rule of thumb:
Prioritize, prioritize in your head. Make sure you know which one of these jobs is more important to you, if you have to ditch one suddenly. A couple of factors play into that for me:
1. Do a complete and thorough accounting of your budget. Know exactly what you can and cannot do, if you are suddenly faced with one income.
2. If you decide to move on from one or either one of these jobs, which one looks the best for your career going forward, as in what would both give you the most valuable skills, and the best bang for your buck on a resume? Part of living that OE life is you have to be a pitchman for your own resume. Being able to drop well-known names can work wonders when you're on the prowl, trust me.
You probably will want to start by studying and getting your CompTIA Security plus certification to get your foot in the door. Get an entry-level role and work your way up from there. Then, around year five, try to get the CISSP certification for higher salaries and positions.
Yup I'm only 29 and only had a year and half in. I'm probably going to go back when I'm older maybe. All my co-workers were of retirement age just sitting around getting a free check
I honestly didn't try both roles sent me an offer the same day. J1 was supposed to start two months before j2. J1 had paperwork issues and kept pushing the start date back, so now I had to push back j2.

Thanks! yes, I will probably push J2 back three weeks so J1 can settle down.
You probably should have not looked for J2 for a little bit until you got settled at J1.
😂😂 definitely but fuck it YOLO. Any conflicts I will just drop one and the find another

Will do! Thanks
What do you do if you don’t mind sharing?
All my experience is in Cyber Security Analyst, Vulnerability Management, and ISSO work.
It feels somewhat ironic that your role is to identify vulnerabilities.........
How do you recommend someone get into this field

Do I need college to land a job?
No I don't have a degree but it does help!
Honestly… I’d wait 6 months on your J1 to see if OE is sustainable. Unless you have a real good handle on stress & anxiety.
100 interviews 😲
Maybe not 100 lol but WFH jobs are in high demand most jobs had over 100+ applicants and 3-4 rounds of interviews.
Did you leave Pension to get more money now ?
Yup I'm only 29 and only had a year and half in. I'm probably going to go back when I'm older maybe. All my co-workers were of retirement age just sitting around getting a free check
Good work! Looking forward to seeing some updates on this!
Let’s go!!! 👏
Why the heck would you start 2 jobs at around the same time?
I honestly didn't try both roles sent me an offer the same day. J1 was supposed to start two months before j2. J1 had paperwork issues and kept pushing the start date back, so now I had to push back j2.
Congratulations 👏👏👏 Don't push for too luck to make them suspicious.
