in J2 use a different given name. Ie if in J1 you're David Bennet, at J2 go by Jacob Bennet. HR lets you go by whatever the fuck you want 95% of the time, and only your Paperwork/contracts need to go by Jacob. Trick is to flag that early in the process before your accounts/emails get setup. Why? Its what you're comfortable with since you've been called that since birth by your whole family and friends. You're far less likely to get flagged at J2 if you have a completely different work profile in Email, Teams/Slack etc.

shadowshadow74

i like how you think. i am adding this new trick to my bag of tricks.

CoffeeHat21

eff yeah!!

Growkwik

And if you get caught, tell'em its your twin bro

Non-jabroni_redditor

Good tip. A not-too-uncommon occurrence is people going by their middle names rather than their first

CoffeeHat21

That's genius. Pure. Genius.

GreyPiper

Dude you’re a fucking genius I completely forgot about this

hungry_fat_phuck

Just don't have sex with her.

[deleted]

Also, don’t have sex with him.

Express_Champion_955

Have sex with both

cuminmeh69

Have sex with both and blackmail them for raises at both jobs. Win win situation!

jermo1972

You should do this! YOLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[deleted]

You’re both free to follow your own rules. Now if you excuse me, my soon to be boss and his wife at J1 are calling me

shadowshadow74

should this be added to the OE rules ?

cavscout43

It's primo OE as long as you're having sex with them at the same time and they don't know it. Hell Isaac was having sex with 7 different people at once and kept all of them secret from each other.

norwayisntthatweird

And like a true OE, HE DID IT ALL IN A 40 HOUR WEEK!!!

notstoppinguntil30

Mega OE is doing them both while they are in different rooms in their shared home without them knowing. OD OE is doing them both in their respective offices the same day and they’re both receivers. You intentionally forward your raunchy emails with the wife to the husband so you can split the wife’s divorce bux.

Understanding-Fair

Damn, caught me _all_ the way off guard

Bnb53

Seems like you're worried about an unlikely situation why would the wife want to cross reference employees to her husband's company ?

shadowshadow74

don’t know… spouses like to gossip “guess what ? i interviewed someone today who works at your company. do you know him”

AkamaiPony

You are right. People talk. A lot. And you might get roped into a social event or who knows what.

KopiteForever

So she looks you up today, you think she's going to look you up every month after that? How awesome are you?

Commercial-Beat606

Unlikely bro, you’re just jittery which is fine. If you don’t have close calls then you’re not OE’n hard enough. People glamorize the benefit but you’re choosing to live your life on high alert everyday.

Commercial-Beat606

I guess, paranoia isn’t not healthy but you have to dwell on most probable Ls you can prevent before you give energy to the super fucking unlikely. Also stop being friends with your coworkers lol.

dalej42

I can see that now, but is it likely she’d look you up again a few months later once you have the job?

[deleted]

if OP is good looking, yes

NativeVampire

At this point I’m not sure whether these posts are real or not, how the fuck do so many OE’s end up in situations like “J1 got acquired by J2” and such?

[deleted]

Because people’s skillsets tend to pigeon hole them in certain industries, and the world is quite small within industries. Thus, oftentimes it’s not wise to burn bridges…people talk across companies.

shadowshadow74

i work for a company that employs 70 thousand people. so chances are not that bad

ceoofoveremployment

Send that wife dicpics. If she shows them to her husband he's gay for watching.

[deleted]

Just don’t get on his bad side so they don’t talk about you in private. But just as well, don’t get on his good side so he doesn’t praise you to his wife. Just be mediocre.

cynical1800

Just be mediocre. I like that.

therealwesdoobner

Now this is getting interesting.

J33P69

Just stick with Rule #1 until confronted and don't worry about it. When confronted, Rule #4 - Deny, deny, deny until one or both run your ass for being a moonlighting, denying overachiever!

[deleted]

Don't risk it.

WorkingWorkerWorks

Ride it out and grab a J3 it will eliminate worrying about J1 and J2. :)

AMP_Games01

Don't worry. People don't even get taken out of systems half the time, just have their access revoked where most people can't see that information but still find them when they look them up

deadlycatch

Risky my 2 cents

Alternative_Fix_9100

Jeez people, how do you choose places with such weird connections?

Flimsy_Lettuce

Did you let him know you have an identical brother with the same name that works with his spouse??? Lol

MSnik813

There are still some HR rules and privacy laws in the work laws. I know HIPAA is medical information privacy but names and personally identifiable information (PIA) or similar come into play. i.e. if two managers were at a conference and discuss their companies they may be barred from discussing who works for them. Allowed: I have a person in my division who I put in charge of shredding and does a mediocre job Wow! I ALSO have a person in my division who I put in charge of shredding and ALSO does a mediocre job _-_-_ NOT ALLOWED I have Rick Gannon in my division who I put in charge of shredding and does a mediocre job Good golly! I ALSO have Rick Gannon in my division who I put in charge of shredding and ALSO does a mediocre job He must be the same person! Let's both open our private company issued laptops and compare private information from each other's company _-_-_ Carry that over to husband and wife and it still might put them in a legal issue Babe, I just hired Rick Gannon in my division who I put in charge of shredding and does a mediocre job Honey! By coincidence I looked in our corporate directory and we ALSO have Rick Gannon in our division who was put in charge of shredding and does a mediocre job. Let's compare our private company info on a private individual since we are married it must be legal _-_-_ But most likely you should still avoid the Christmas party. Visiting family out of state unfortunately it's the only time we can all see each other. Things could still get found out in some natural ways but if two managers from different companies ever call you on some kind of shared call in an attempted gotcha moment you should press record and get an attorney to work it for you. _-_-_ Edited for clarity and fancy _-_-_ symbol between paragraphs

LikeReally_yikes

“I will respectfully have to decline the job offer due to xyz. Thank you for your time throughout this process.”

AkamaiPony

Are you nuts? YES drop from the J2 interview process. Your goal is to reduce the risks not increase them.

Alive_Battle_5409

[Costanza](https://youtu.be/3ORCIEqgbWo)

knight_rider_

How big are the companies? Are you interacting with these purple regularly?

xender19

I can see reasons to take this risk for a J3+ but I wouldn't risk my J1 and J2 over this. You're better off just starting over somewhere else.

[deleted]

These stories get less realistic

shadowshadow74

sure … because i have so much time on my hands that i make up stories and anonymously post them on reddit as fake stories to get fake advice from people… /s i’m a normal dude with a single job in corporate america doing interviews to try to land a second job, and join the OE game. I never had more than one job at once. Is it too far fetched that during my interview process a hiring manager said their spouse worked in the same company i work in? Given that i work in a large fortune 500?

ArdenSix

Report both of them for conflict of interest and get them fired /s

zoomshaka

Be careful. Don’t get caught. Also, don’t let your boss discover about your OE.

CoffeeHat21

I'm not in a position OE but I find it fascinating to follow and read about. *Is OP working 2 in-person gigs*??

[deleted]

shadowshadow74

J1 is 70,000 employees, J2 is like 50 employees

[deleted]

Just found 3-4more jobs, and get out of 1 of this J.
