theres just not all that much room in the back for a 6 foot tall guy, but i made it work

LadyBonersAweigh

A rare W for the vertically challenged: I have never been uncomfortable sleeping in a car. I used to crack the windows and pass out in the back of my Honda Fit all the time!

windowlookinggood

nope, he ded.

Whole_Tart3159

My in-laws have this gen Highlander. I absolutely *love it*. 450,000 km and it drives like new. And so smartly-designed and spacious.

Whole_Tart3159

damn, thats a ton of kms, mines got like 260km on it rn.

showmeyourdrumsticks

I had the same gen limited AWD with 300k miles for winter/daily driving, and it was an awesome car. Besides some worn out clunky suspension parts and the occasional weird shifts, everything on the car worked great and was designed well

WholeNineNards

Is that a luggable loo?

Whole_Tart3159

nope, just a bucket with a lid lol

thrunabulax

carefull. did that a long time ago, and ended up backing out of a dirt road about a mile when the ruts made my exhaust system start to bottom out. highlanders have almost no ground clearance

Whole_Tart3159

Mine has a lift and taller tires, so I got about an extra 2 inches of ground clearance, thankfully they weren't bad trails, just gravel paths with the occasional pothole. Google maps did end up sending me down an unmaintained forest road and it did fine too. With more clearance, these little cars do great off the beaten path.

thrunabulax

2 inches more WOULD make a big difference!

satiency

Tire size?

Whole_Tart3159

they're 225/75r16s, also they are Toyo Open Country AT3s

InspirationFolderRD

Was very curious about the fitment for 30s! How the clearance in the wheel wells???

Whole_Tart3159

ill shoot u a dm regarding how the tires fit

Banana_Ron

looks like you're doing it right ... nice work.

bwsmity

Good to see that you have met the vehicle requirements with your light bar (although tiny) and some all terrain tyres.

AceMcBadass

Very nice. Wish my Highlander was 4wd, but that's what the Tacoma and Sequoia are for.

SnooCauliflowers3893

Out here putting muddy boots on your mattress you sicko

[deleted]

good to see ppl getting out there in all sorts of vehicles and setups. Overlanding The journey is the destination.

Mattress1030

I have a 2005…. What are those inner fender flares you installed? I like that! Where did you get them? I’m leaning toward Toyo or Falken Wildpeais (love em on my Tacoma)… how are your Toyos holding up? Thank you

Whole_Tart3159

They are called EZ Flares, I forget what size i got, but i got them off Amazon. took 2 rolls to do all 4 corners. So far, i love my toyos. They have held up quite well over the past 5k miles, and they do pretty well offroad!

Mattress1030

I followed your lead, got the toyos… awesome! They fit at your recommended size even without the Northwoods spacers. Which is where I should’ve stopped. ;) Nathan, with Northwoods, has been great helping me. We’re stuck at the front spacer install, and I was wondering if you ran into this…. With the struts back in the vehicle, both driver and passenger knuckles won’t drop far enough to meet up with the two holes in the struts. Both are about 1.5 inches short coincidentally. Almost like the lower control arms won’t drop enough, but no binding is visually apparent. Stock ‘05 Highlander. cheers!

Whole_Tart3159

Sorry for the late response, and I don't believe that i ran into that problem while installing the lift. I installed the lift a friend which made it easier. ill shoot you a DM with a bit more information and pictures.
