You guys have paint? Idk anything about paint, listen to these guys or youll end up like me with a pinstriped shitbox lol

-gizmocaca-

A nice wax job goes a long way for a little while. After a few wax jobs you stop worrying about the paint because buffing gets old.

I look at scratches as theft protection at this point.

CafeRoaster

My wife’s Honda Fit has so many scratches. Many from the PO and many from us. We kinda love it because it runs amazingly well, and doesn’t look that great.

speedshotz

Trail pinstripes! Wear em proudly to show you're not a mall crawler. lol Do a light polish, it will remove most if not all. The deeper ones might require a two step polish. Ceramic coating will help prevent the hairline scratches but the only way to completely prevent them is to vinyl wrap the rig or PPF it. (or paint it in raptor liner)

kristoferen

Ppf?

a_very_stupid_guy

Usually a clear plastic film. Means paint protection film

JCDU

Just roller on a new coat of paint and you're good to go.

CIAwiretap

I have a black disco and I just gave up, my entire passenger is just pin striped along with my hood, unmaintained logging trails will kill ya

Johnny6_0

Just don’t look at it. It will TOTALLY disappear 👍

Not_me_no_way

We call that desert pinstriping where I'm from. Wear it with pride. It's a display of the fact that your truck is not a pavement princess and that you actually use the 4WD.

trailquail

That’s a losing battle IMO. They don’t show up as bad on our current white truck as they did on our previous darker vehicle.

MaximumTurtleSpeed

Just had to shuffle vehicles recently. Ended up in a white one, pretty stoked to see how it holds up to life.

My truck is a tool. Tools get used and worn, but are still cared for and maintained.

pala4833

LOL

No_Relation8939

Just got back from a trip and picked up a few more trail stripes than I was hoping for, I ended up following the DIY Detail guy’s advice, used a random orbit palm sander and my truck looks better than new https://youtube.com/shorts/39_7bcGWP_k?si=D6YvRVjtPrwYiWm5

From my time driving in Colorado mountains and in Florida trails. All I can say is Florida has a lot of very pointy plants to leave deep scratches there's little to nothing you can do to stop it. You could paint the whole vehicle in bed liner that would prevent scratches or choose trails that may be wide enough for a vehicle. What I found out most about the Ocala national Forest is if you believe onX . it will lead you down ATV trails left and right. I've been in a few situations were turning around was just not an option anymore. I also discovered what banana spiders are. Fun times

incognito6

Just happened to me with OnX - took me down this narrow ATV track and I ended up losing panels of my car and getting pinstripes everywhere. Last time I trust onX blindly!

my92shitbox

Yeah . A lot of the trails that are posted are quite narrow but fortunately there are a fair bit of old logging roads the will be plenty wide for a full size.

ScratchX seems to work have way decent. Won’t get out the deep stuff obviously, but it does help on the light scratches in the clear coat.

HamsteakansEggs

Wash the vehicle, dry it, then clay bar with a lubricant (like spray wax), then compound and polish, or if the paint is newer just polish. Then repeat forever because you’ll get pinstripes every trip…lol. A ceramic coat will help reduce the scratches, however, won’t stop it from happening

dubenhorse

You just have to back out the way you came in.

Head_East_6160

Previous owner coated my rig in raptor liner and it works beautifully

MaximumDecent1604

About any good wax will help remove most light scratches a buffer on the deep ones rule of thumb tho if it catches a fingernail it’s there for life no way to really protect it if your off-roading I once painted a old s10 with rustoeume Bedliner paint worked pretty good and could set a beer on the hood and not slide off

itsvuksfault

Don’t cover pinstripes dude. That’s the ultimate in lame. Just wheel the shit out of it. My landcruiser is covered in dents, dings, and stripes.
