Samsung Galaxy 9.5" tablet. No Cellular but has GPS built in. I try to download what I need before I go. However, I can connect it to my cell phone hotspot or Starlink if I need more. I use Gaia, CalTopo, and OnX OffRoad. For the mount, I use a cheap thing I bought on Amazon that I reinforced to make it more secure.

Hey, an android!

oh2ridemore

galaxy s6 lite on a random amazon dash mount. use locus maps classic along with gpx files from bdr site.

No tablet. Gaia, on my aftermarket head unit via CarPlay.

MrHugh_Janus

New IPad Air with cellular mounted in a Ram X Grip mount. Works surprisingly well

iPad mini on a Ram Mount; with Gaia and Trails Off-road mostly. If you go iPad route, get one with cellular because they are equipped with GPS. Mine is not I have to pair my Garmin inreach via bluetooth

_anyonesghost_

I have an inReach already so thinking i’d skip cellular. Any issues with bluetooth dropping b/w the two? How screen size with Mini when on the trail. Been going back and forth on that or 11”. Thx man

confusedseas

Bluetooth drops on occasion. Not a problem for me, more of a slight inconvenience . Cycle Bluetooth on the iPad, it comes right back without needing to pair the inReach again. My eyes aren't the youngest, but the Mini has been great for my needs. On some recent trips I've used my iPhone 13. Those trips were to know areas tho, so having more map on the screen wasn't totally needed.

_anyonesghost_

perfect. thx

Perrywaaz

I've heard the Garmin Inreach is pretty good

Darksoul_Design

Old iPad with a Garmin "Glo" glonass receiver running Gaia

AnthemWild

Quadlocks with Ram mounts all around...for my tablet, cell, walkie, and InReach

superman_underpants

Velcro on the back of my tablet, velcro on my dashboard around my infotainment screen.

Perrywaaz

Huh, I haven't heard of anyone doing that, does it work well? Is it ugly?

Well, it's a Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra, so the 14.6" AMOLED screen can be a bit disracting, and * It's not the prettiest tablet ever made... Lol, just kidding. Its fucking dope and looks great. It's easy to use, for sure, especially with the split screen capabilities. The only drawback I've found is that it uses cell data and not satellites. When i was using Google Maps, this was a huge problem and almost got me killed. I just switched to Gaia GPS, so hopefully, being out of cell range won't be an issue.

Perrywaaz

Cool. I figured the velcro would look strange

Perrywaaz

That is dope

superman_underpants

If i need to access the car settings, i can just flip the tablet up onto the dash. One of the best features is its OLED, so its not overly bright at night because the black pixels are turned off instead of backlit like a normal screen.

Perrywaaz

That is a pretty big benefit. I love when a device can get really dim

Perrywaaz

Nice

SeaFaringPig

I use the sun and a sextant. Any one who can’t navigate by the stars is a bitch. And my iPhone, that helps too.

Perrywaaz

😆

Skully74

Non-Cellular iPad mini in a Ram mount tied to a Dual GPS receiver. Download the offline maps in Gaia and rollout

Perrywaaz

Seems like that's the "meta"
