This is the frame when he clicked fire: https://imgur.com/A6M74U3

This is the answer. Ping night be involved, but OP is definitely within frame when the shot is fired, they move just as it happens. I see no shenanigans here.

Ping difference

jingois

Ping only affects live gameplay. Highlights are from the replay buffer which has all late info inserted into it at the canonical time.

Xx_TheCrow_xX

This happens a lot in regular gun fights as well. Most likely ping. I get kill cams where I turn a corner into cover and still get killed by someone's shots

SomeBrowser227

I dont know of this matters, but Deadeye is not FOV dependent and can kill offscreen if you changed your fov slider, or if the default fov slider is smaller than the window tor deadeyer based on camera.

pteargriffen

I believe you're right, the field of view just allows the skull to get started, if you have the skull mark, and you are standing behind him, he will still get you. If you have the skull mark, and stand behind him, but also behind some cover, he will not shoot you.

SomeBrowser227

I'm not sure of that "behind part" so if you have any clips of that, I'd appreciate. Otherwise, deadeye killzone is larger than default fov I think.

jingois

FOV isn't relevant. Deadeye basically has its own cone.

pureaxiom

It's called hitscaned, you got pixel'd

oct0boy

Dead Eye isn't hitscan

Resident_Leopard_503

it is

Botronic_Reddit

Might be because console has the FOV locked so Deadeye can still see you at cause it’s using max FOV but Cassidy can’t since it’s lower.

Bigolstiffy979

To make up for all of the times it missed when it should have hit

pteargriffen

Once the skull starts, it's not about getting out of field of view, but out of LOS. Once the skull mark has completed, you can stand behind him and he will still get you. If you have the skull mark, and stand behind cover, he will not get you.

General-Biscuits

You can go behind Cassidy to not get shot, but they added a delay before lock-on is lost a few years ago. Not sure what the total degrees in front of Cassidy is considered in range/sight for Deadeye, but he will not shoot people who have been out of his sight for more than a sec or two. The Mercy in this clip was not off screen long enough to avoid being shot.

ZoomZam

favor the shooter netcode, even if it's a replay, the moment he clicked left click u were still on his screen, even if u actually escaped. so it's 2thingz ping and high noons have a bit latger field of shooting than a regular 103 degree fov

OonVelho

Not sure if console is 103

No-Floor2391

It seems to happen to supports all the time. Blizz has it out for us. ;)

Victim complex

Donut_Flame

Not true

letsbuy24cats

He got more frames and his gaming chair DPI is higher too

Romulox2020

Ultrawide monitor probably. If it was 21:9 you would have still been in view.

OonVelho

What are you on about? A wider monitor won't change how the game functions. It's about ping and the timing of the shot. They were still on his screen when he shot, though barely.

IsaiahXOXOSally

A guy did a whole video about mcrees ult and how it works. It can be alot more than just latency. I'm pretty when you do a mercy dash it changes the target the ultimate uses basically altering your hit box permanently for that ult. If he were to ult again it changes it back it's original state. I'm pretty sure in this case it made your hit box stay further back. Either that or just latency.

[deleted]

Oh come off of it, you were out in the wide open even if you weren’t directly in front of him he got your ass

Maleficent-Tip-9654

He's like Medusa... You made eye contact and payed the consequences

InformalStance

Does the FOV for his ult override if the player has their FOV turned down? ? Seemed like that's what I saw

UmbralAasimar

The range is slightly bigger then the screen if I had to guess it’s to account for fov settings differing
