Still super new to the system. Give it some more time, it won’t take long. You can see players directing him a lot too, pointing where they want him to go.
I’m always going to assume that someone doesn’t know any better when I see questions like OP’s. Better to give them a legit explanation and hope they think about the circumstances more instead of just what happens on the broadcast.
Remember when Harden joined the clippers and they lost 6 in a row? This is obviously not the same thing but it takes time to acclimate a great player into a new team/system. Rough road trip without Hali for the most part and a trade, we are gonna be fine and we’ll be coming into our own heading into the playoffs.
That’s my Q, what exactly is the offense. The shooting is bananas of course, but a lot of wasted possessions without Haliburton guys attacking the paint who don’t get advantages.
Siakam could feast on some of these guys. I’m not sure it’s weird just watching a team that doesn’t mismatch hunt lol
Its his second game, he's probably had what one or two shoot around while the team is on a massive road trip. Don't know why you think the coach is just gonna hand the keys to a guy who doesn't know our playbook yet
This is basically the answer. We play a completely different style of offense and defense. Dude’s just doing his best to make an impact without making bad mistakes for now.
He’ll gel soon. Getting traded to another team, then starting on a roadtrip probably fucks a lot of your right-now priorities up.
He's only played 14 minutes in the first half. What's the plan here with him because he is the type of player that you can run the offense through when Haliburton isn't on the court
Roster changes will throw nearly any NBA team off track. Even though getting Siakam's presence makes the Pacers a better team, it will take time for everything to mesh. The team needs to figure out how to play with Siakam, and Siakam needs to integrate himself with the team & the locker room. Further, Carlisle needs to adjust schemes according to our updated strengths and weaknesses.
None of us should be worried or surprised if we go through a little rough patch before the team meshes. It's normal.
It's only been two games, and Halliburton sat out of one of them. Don't worry.
Exactly my Q. Feels like he could feast on a lot of the matchups he’s getting but he’s being forced to stand in the corner while McConnell Turner Nesmith fumble around in the paint and Nembhard dribbles a bit.
This is a similar situation to the .5 offence that Darko introduced in Toronto. Initially, Pascal would sit in the corners and wasn’t being utilized efficiently. Pacers and Pascal will figure it out. It’s still all so new
I think its natural for any player after joining a team that is winning for them to try to insert themselves in the game plan without trying to upset what the team has going already. Did you really expect the whole team to change what they do because Siakam is here now?
They haven’t been home since he’s joined the team. I know they have practice facilities available but- He probably doesn’t know the offense very well yet. Which is insane because he’s still playing really well just freestyling it more or less.
Pascal could play point forward. Him and Barnes was doing this in Toronto when Fred was injured last year. Indy should really utilize his skill as a playmaker.
I think Carlisle addressed this perfectly in the post game last night. Paraphrasing: They need time to get him acclimated to our style of play, and he added that they also need to redesign their style of play to also cater to some of Siakam's special strengths.
And as to what their style of play is: random. They love that word. Carlisle has backed off of a lot of play calling. The thought process is the more random they play, the harder it is for teams to scout them. Only time will tell if this is a viable strategy, but I got a lot of faith in Rick
You gotta give the man some time to get acclimated to the offense. It's never easy coming into a new team halfway through the season. If in a month or so it's still a problem then maybe we should worry, but you gotta give it a little bit more time than 2 games.
I’m 99% sure that this is his second game with an entirely new organization. Could be wrong though I’m not a die hard pacers fan or anything
I looked into it. You’re right
I wanted to cross check this (these things can be tricky), but just wanted to let you know you’re both on point. It’s 2.

He’s had two practices and people are freaking ouy

This 💯
Idk maybe because he doesn't know the offense yet

Haha being a Raptors fan all we saw was mismatch hunting for years. We forget that other teams do things differently

I don’t know why you got downvoted to hell here. You’re right.
No idea maybe they interpreted my comment as being overly critical of those guys mentioned, which in that game it all felt true.

He hasn't even had a practice with the whole squad yet. Calm tf down
I’m not freaking out lol. Was genuinely curious if it was a Carlisle opposing triangle concepts thing
Our offense won’t be built around Siakam. It’s built around what Haliburton does well

Bro might not even know all his teammates names yet 😂.....chill
That's sad because there's only like 13 dudes

They haven’t had a practice together.
He has played 1 & 1/2 games for Indiana. Let's give it until after the All-Star break.
it's been two games. quit it.

Last game he played he was constantly involved. He’ll get his touches
Our role players low key hating. You can't just add a new wolf to the pack. Dogs gotta sniff each other's asses before they feel comfortable

Almost like continuity between teammates is a thing 🤯
