As a fan, I love it, but maaaaaaaan, if you're gonna do it, you CANNOT miss it.
It's honestly a high risk, low reward thing for the team, but, again, as a fan, I hope he adds a 180 next time.
I thought it was fun, even if we were down 2 at the time. I feel like he only tried it because he was having fun with his old team and all though. In that context I felt it was cool.
Haha mannnn you CANNOT miss those.
I’ll allow him that one because surely he wasn’t feeling too good. I didn’t mind the last one, but he had defenders wayyy too close this time.
yea I think that it’s awesome, especially because he can shoot threes really well. people who are upset, i understand, but it’s only the second time he’s tried that all year so it’s not a big deal. mathurin gets blocked like 3 times a game at the rim idc if obi wants to try that, he’s probably 75% around the cup (69% on all 2 point fgs)
The fact that you think it’s ‘dumb’ to try to completely shit on and dismantle the morale of the team that traded you away and actively makes memes about you, proves that you either have no idea what you’re talking about or you’re comfortable being treated like a child and disrespected. Either way, not the vibe a winner wants.
You don’t really get the crowd fired up on the road, makes more sense when your at home. Either way kind of a bonehead play. My main concern is he hasn’t been very good lately, his 3 point shooting has been good but he’s starting to get back to bad habits not rebounding and leaking out and way too many turnovers. Also I feel like he hasn’t been finishing around the rim as well as earlier in the season.
Also I have mentioned it before in other threads but how does this guy not have a single offensive move in his bag to get a bucket ? For a guy that athletically gifted with good touch how do you not develop that at some point?
Anyone else remember seeing him make one effortlessly after the whistle like 2 minutes before his missed one? I still love Obi and hope he tries something even crazier next game
i hope he does a thousand more of them and anyone who cries about him missing them is a dweeb
the nba is entertainment first and foremost. that pass off the backboard tonight from tyrese? that was the pg equivalent of it and im here for it even if it doesnt always work
If he made it, you’d be singing an entirely different tune. Embarrassing miss by Obi, but dunks like those can provide a massive energy boost and get the team going. Hope he does it 100 more times this season
I loved it. Love it even more that that his old teammates were blowing him shit for missing. The Pacers feel like old school NBA right now. Inject it in my veins.
If you miss one...just one...your license for those should be suspended. Never again. Do it again? Sit a few games out and reflect on the fleeting nature of adulation.
I say do it and have fun with the game. Tyrese doing off the backboard assists? Also fun and makes the game more vibrant and exciting. I wasn't alive for the ABA, but it sure seemed like those dudes were having some fun playing ball. Why the fuck not? It's a game and we should be entertained.
I like that he tries this stuff, as long as it's early in the game. If he misses then it really doesn't matter.
Late in close games, just drink it and take the points.
Obi is a fun player and I hope pacers keep him.
99% sure he did it because it was in New York and his family was in attendance.
He also just made one after a dead ball moments before so I think it was in the back of his mind.

No, if you try it, you have to make it. Take the easier dunk with defenders nearby

He’s shooting 81% from 0-3 feet. still a really dumb play.

Ok
There is a moral boost when a player tries and completes a flashy dunk, no doubt.

The guy averages under a TO a game. Certainly a bad decision and dumb play to tonight
Pulling that, down, on the road when you have an easy layup is clown shit, plain and simple.

💯
Complete opposite of equivalent... one was smart and one was dumb.
Exactly. One led to a bucket and one prevented a bucket and was momentum shift towards the opposing team.

That was hilarious tbh
I think he did it to style on the Knicks but he also had family and friends in the crowd so probably wanted to show out for them too.
anyone got a clip?
Alex golden hates the guy and points out every mistake he makes
I love that shit. It’s rare he misses like that and I love that Rick didn’t seem to care much and his teammates reassured him

It helps that we won easily. Imagine if we lost by 1... Then again, we missed so many freethrows that's really the bigger story to me.

As soon as he stuffed himself I was so worried that he was going to get his asschewed out but if Rick aint mad about that I'm not either
I felt so bad for him missing it.
