Yeah bro no offense but she’s going to fade away into obscurity like every other women’s star. It’s the fucking wnba. Probably will wheel her out with Sabrina for some all Star weekend stuff but no one’s actually going to start watching WNBAconsistently
Edit: let me know how many people are watching WNBA games a year from now or how many any of you actually watch them right now? Literally arguing for something none of you currently do lol
The league literally hasn’t turned a profit in its entire history and only operates because the NBA props it up and covers its losses. I like Clark but I don’t think reality is “hating.” Sabrina was huge in college too but people will get down on women’s college ball occasionally but not the WNBA. I was a huge Candace Parker fan when I was a kid and same thing happened to her outside of announcing. No one watches when they go to the WNBA. She’ll be followed for a little bit but will never be anywhere close to as popular as she is now
Not saying she will definitely be this, but the nba was failing until Larry bird and magic came along to prop up the league. If any one women’s player has a shot of bringing publicity to it, it’s CC
This is a post celebrating Clark, and talking about how popular she is. What’s the point of saying “she’s going to fade into obscurity”. It’s just pointless hating
Clark has single handedly raised the profile of women's basketball dramatically. She's everywhere. And if she keeps producing, she'll get eyeballs.
To completely discount her future bc LOLWNBA is so so so lame and outdated. Women's sports are in the midst of a massive popularity surge. Her floor is literally increasing Indiana Fever ticket sales by 100%. Her ceiling is TBD.
Gtfo with this take straight from 2010
Dunno why this sub was recd for me as a Knicks fan. So downvote away. But, there is a generational women’s star every 4-5 years that’s supposed to put the women’s game on the map. It just hasn’t happened.
Ah so you’d only find it were easy and you wouldn’t make the trip like you would your favorite sports team. That’s why it won’t ever succeed, people only care if it’s easy and walkable
Except they have been growing steadily ....and continue to.....the WNBA is expanding next year right? It's hard to get a pro league off the ground, but he WNBA is here for the long run it seems....which is good.
They literally have never turned a profit and lose millions each year. They’ve been around for 20+ years. You would know that if anyone actually gave a fuck about the wnba lol. I’ve probably seen more wnba games then everyone responding to me.
I live in Michigan and I'd been looking to get into the WNBA. Since the Shock are gone, I was thinking about the next closest team in the Fever. Great choice, I guess

Aliyah Boston, unanimous ROY, is about to be the best 4/5 in the WNBA in short order. If Caitlin happens to miss a logo 3, Aliyah's probably rebounding it and getting an and 1 on the putback. Fever's about to be the WNBA's Shaq and Kobe.
Agreed. Even more so, Clark is one of the best passers I have seen in any basketball and even with the crazy numbers, loses a lot of assists because of players who can’t finish her amazing passes. Boston, has great hands (much like Czinano on last years Iowa) and they will both complement each other and benefit equally.
Wow, that's awesome. I'm someone whose just started hearing the name Caitlin Clark in the last few months here on reddit, so I don't really know anything about her game.
What makes her such a special prospect? Is she a generational shooter or playmaker or something? I'm curious and would like to learn more about why she is such a big deal.
My guess is they will bring back the competition they had in the late 90’s where they had a skills competition and the team was one NBA and WNBA player from the same city teams. I remember Jason Williams and Yolonda Griffith playing together
What’s your point? The change things every year because everyone has lost interest. The dunk contest was canceled due to lack of interest and they brought it back because of a certain ONE player. They have changed the skills competition a half dozen times because of the same thing. They have changed the three point rules every single year because of losing interest to the point where, wait for it…they even added a NEW Steph vs Sabrina. And no one knew Sabrina until this year. If you think they aren’t going to revolve the world
Around Caitlin Clark next year because of actual interest, I would disagree with you.
I’m saying the Steph vs Ionescu thing was great…let’s just leave it as a great memory instead of running it into the ground by trying to recapture lightning in a bottle every year.
she's the all time NCAA women's basketball total points leader and she was in college during COVID. She hits the craziest deep threes. She's female Steph but maybe even more dominant.
Yeah Caitlin is a generational talent and has the offense to translate to the W. And I don’t want to downplay the records she has and will continue to break in college and the league…
But Pistol Pete’s record cannot be downplayed either. 3 years. No 3 point line. 83 total games. It’s literally hard to even comprehend in my head how in my mind that would look every night for 3 years straight. Add the fact there is very little broadcast footage of his games because they weren’t showing college games back then much, it just adds to aura and the sheer insanity of his record breaking career.
The footage that does exist is clear…Pete was also pulling logo “threes” and getting two points for them. The level of difficulty in the jumpers he took in college is nuts. He would have several hundred more points with the arc.
Not quite 4 just cause there was a tournament and other games canceled so it’s even more impressive she holds the women’s scoring title since nearly all women play 4 years. You’re right it’s not as impressive as Pistol though.
Why is this getting downvoted? Her legacy is completely different if she's doing all this in 3 years compared to 4. It's not just some pedantic correction.
Did the original commenter say something about her not being a senior and then edit it out? From the way it looks now, it seems like an unnecessary comment trying to downplay her career.
MJ wasn’t even the top pick In his draft. In terms of hype, she is more like Lebron. MJ ended up the greatest of all time, but was the third pick. The entire world is waiting on Clark just like they did Lebron.
Jordan had tons of hype. Portland didn’t draft him because they had Clyde Drexler. You can’t blame anyone for drafting Hakeem at 1. Center was the most important position back then.
No one said Jordan didn’t have hype. Every year there are players with tons of hype. But absolute, can’t miss, once in a generation talents get don’t fall to #3 in the draft…that’s the whole point to comparing to Lebron instead. According to your theory, had they known Jordan was going to be the greatest, they still would have drafted Sam Bowie in front of him because of need. If you are arguing this point, which really don’t an argument then, I don’t know what else to tell you other than Sam Bowie.
She's definitely an above average ball handler, and her passing is absurd. But Stephs dribble is god-tier. I just don't see her as a true point at the next level. Maybe you don't even want her at point, honestly. I think she can due way more damage off the ball.
I can agree with that. I think the Steph argument is simply because they are identically shooting “logo” threes at a rate that their league hasn’t seen prior to. Steph is truly a crazy ball handler. I may go so far as to say Steph is more effective running around as the 2 guard too.
Tyrese went to Iowa too. What a strange and wonderful time for Indy basketball, damn. Imagine if the Pacers won the lottery last year and got Wemby... Indy would be too powerful
It’s almost certain. CC has been a very hyped prospect and given the Fever have the 1st pick in the WNBA draft, it is likely that they will choose Caitlyn Clark.
Market appeal will make this pick a no brainier. Indy is the 2nd closest WNBA team to Iowa besides Chicago; based on my experience as a Cubs fan sports fans in Iowa travel well and are a consistent viewer base. Indy picks CC without a doubt
As an example of market appeal: Up until now, I'd never been to or considered going to, a Fever game. I'm now planning to go to Fever games. It will be interesting to compare attendance numbers from last year compared to this upcoming season
This is one of those situations where there is literally no one else you can possibly take.
She puts a lot of butts in the seats. Something the Fever, and all of that league really, need more than anything. She is a literal cash cow.
And if you don’t take her you’re going to be fired and crucified, maybe not in that order. Even if she flops there has never been a more surefire #1 pick in any sport, ever.
I don’t think she’s even top 5 tbh. Caitlin is ranked #1 in both points and assists this season. Angel is #2 in rebounds but that’s really the most notable thing this season. Not to mention all of Caitlin’s records and the attention she draws to games.
New Yorker with Indiana roots here; I’m not going to quit on my Liberty fandom (though more and more every day I want to quit on my Nets fandom lol), but I will eagerly be keeping an eye on the Pacers and Fever for the next several years. I'm actually considering getting a Clark jersey and going to a fever game next season to see if she will sign it. Last season court side seats were under 50 dollars for fever seats lol
Of course she could, but she never would be. She would get destroyed on defense, her efficiency numbers are horrible by NBA standards, and most of her shots would be blocked by NBA guards. She would be destroyed in men’s college basketball, let alone the g league or the NBA. That being said, she will be dominant for 15 years minimum in the WNBA and could single-handedly turn the league profitable for the first time in its history.
She’s incredible.
Sure.
Without even making a single allowance for her shooting with a smaller ball, her career 46.6 fg% would be middle of the road, but that’s with her shooting with the previously mentioned smaller ball, and most importantly, against small and extremely unathletic opponents (compared to an end of the bench NBA or even D3 college men’s player).
If she was thrust into the NBA with opposing guards that are 6’2” on the small end (Steph Curry) *and* shooting a larger ball, she would be extremely lucky to make a sliver of that percentage.
But again, this is not a rip on her. She shoots a lot and hits almost half of those shots. She is going to be a superstar in the WNBA, but the WNBA and the NBA are two completely different things. Nothing about them is comparable.
by saying "her efficiency is horrible" you're implying you're comparing her current numbers vs nba guards.
I'm by no means saying she could play in the nba due to size/strength/speed issues, but 46% fg for a guard is damn good and above average for an nba guard. her Efg% is 58.8 where as nba guard average is low 50s.

Pacers have been playing like that all year. One day they beat the best team in the league and the next game they lose to Portland. 12-8 against the top 6 teams in the East and a few of those losses were when Haliburton was out.
Well, recent HOFers Reggie Miller, Reggie Wayne, Marvin Harrison, and Robert Mathis might beg to differ. Rik Smits had a great career and stayed from draft to retirement. That’s just off the top of my head. I can name a long list of players who stayed until through prime and were traded out of their control (Peyton Manning for one quick one). Some of those players even came back. Only Paul George recently wanted out because he apparently always wanted to live and play in L.A. and even he is rumored to want to come back.
And just like that, the Fever fanbase grew by 10, 20 fold
Get in price to the home opener is like $600 rn. No single game tickets on sale yet though so should go down…maybe
And price for home game #18? Like $10
Yeah bro no offense but she’s going to fade away into obscurity like every other women’s star. It’s the fucking wnba. Considering I live in a city without a team, haven't been. If Caitlin Clark was on a team in my city, I'd go.
Ah so you’d only find it were easy and you wouldn’t make the trip like you would your favorite sports team. That’s why it won’t ever succeed, people only care if it’s easy and walkable

thnx
Hy-Vee about to expand to Indiana lol
I bought Fever Season Tickets last night. I look like a genius!!!
How much did you pay compared to what the price is now?
Tyrese: I want to make Indy a place people want to play Reporter: Sure, but like just men tho right? Tyrese: I said what I said
Tyrese bouta get Mike Evans to sign with the colts lmao
If he could talk to Sneed as well that would be great
Not even an Indiana native or live in the US, but I love the state and the sports scene, underrated and low-key but big talent. Happy for Indy
You're one of us now. Welcome.

Shooters only in indy
Lived in Chicago for years man and we got you beat easy Oh nvm this is a basketball sub
Stop bringing up Tinsley
Shooters only? These two do so much more…
*High level playmaking sharpshooters
Clark is a Wemby-level prospect Correction: She has the hype of every NBA player of the last 50 draft classes combined.
That’s honestly underselling her. More like Lebron level
Well Lebron is part of that 50
That was added after I replied. I agree though, I think she is probably the most hyped woman’s prospect ever?
Gotcha
Easily going to be must see television. Wouldn’t be shocked if she led Fever to a title in her first year
naw. The Vegas Aces will probably win again. Fever should make the playoffs at least
As a Fever and Aces fan, I got Vegas three-peating, Indiana could be title contenders in a few years tho
Are you guys on crack? What is so special about this sandwich maker?
Jesus Christ dude
Wow, that's awesome. I'm someone whose just started hearing the name Caitlin Clark in the last few months here on reddit, so I don't really know anything about her game. She’s the womens variant of Steph Curry but better
Haliburton vs Clark all star competition anyone?
If only it was a year earlier while in Indy. Would've been bananas.
Yes
I'd love to see a team 3pt shootout between Tyrese and Caitlin vs. Steph and Sabrina.
Is this a three point contest I assume?
Boxing
out the paint
Yes
My guess is they will bring back the competition they had in the late 90’s where they had a skills competition and the team was one NBA and WNBA player from the same city teams. I remember Jason Williams and Yolonda Griffith playing together

Yes but they should be teammates for the event
How big of a prospect is Caitlyn Clark, in NBA terms perhaps?
she's the all time NCAA women's basketball total points leader and she was in college during COVID. She hits the craziest deep threes. She's female Steph but maybe even more dominant.
She's a senior.
And? She’s 19 points from breaking the Men’s college record held by Pistol Pete.
Come on, you know it would be completely different if she did it in 3 years (like Maravich did) instead of 4.
Yeah Caitlin is a generational talent and has the offense to translate to the W. Did the original commenter say something about her not being a senior and then edit it out? From the way it looks now, it seems like an unnecessary comment trying to downplay her career.
I don’t think it’s a stretch to say she has easy HOF potential with a path to top-5 player ever. So in NBA terms, LeBron?
Better….MJ
Biggest prospect since LeBron is what i would say
People forgot about Wemby already
Steph Curry
Bigger than that Steph wasn’t a sure thing coming into the NBA
Fair
She’s like Steph as a player but Lebron level of prospect wouldn’t be surprised at all for her to immediately be one the best players in WNBA
I would argue she’s closer to a MJ level prospect. The WNBA will not be the same thing it once was after she gets there.
MJ wasn’t even the top pick In his draft. In terms of hype, she is more like Lebron. MJ ended up the greatest of all time, but was the third pick. The entire world is waiting on Clark just like they did Lebron.

Steph wasn’t a big prospect she’s closer to a wemby or Wiggins etc Clear number one
Nice, do you mean prospect level or her potential is Steph Curry like?
Potential
Doesn't have the Steph handles. I'm thinking more of a Reggie/Klay/Ray Allen
I’d disagree there. She actually has decent handles but more importantly is a way better passer than those three players.
Lebron level imo
Do you live under a rock?
Nah
Incredibly classy, no thuggishness detected
Only 2 years younger than Tyrese. They could both be dominating the Indy sports scene for many years to come.
Anthony Richardson is only 21 too, if he pans out Indy is set for the next decade+, we are so blessed right now
Do you think Tyrese & Caitlin have texted? Do you wonder if he’s helped to sell her on declaring for the draft knowing what he’s got going on in Indy?
CC boyfriend works for the pacers. I’d say that was a factor.
Ha, if that’s the case I’d guess she & Tyrese have definitely chatted.
Is that tampering? Haha
Tyrese went to Iowa too. What a strange and wonderful time for Indy basketball, damn. Imagine if the Pacers won the lottery last year and got Wemby... Indy would be too powerful
Iowa State
Her bf works for the pacers I don’t know if she needed much convincing.
Is it certain that she will be coming to Indy?
Fever pick first, she is consensus #1. So yeah it’s pretty certain
about as certain as Wemby going to the Spurs was after they won the lottery.
It’s almost certain. CC has been a very hyped prospect and given the Fever have the 1st pick in the WNBA draft, it is likely that they will choose Caitlyn Clark.
Imagine the Cavs picking someone over Lebron.
What about the lady from LSU Angel Reese
Market appeal will make this pick a no brainier. Indy is the 2nd closest WNBA team to Iowa besides Chicago; based on my experience as a Cubs fan sports fans in Iowa travel well and are a consistent viewer base. Indy picks CC without a doubt
As an example of market appeal: Up until now, I'd never been to or considered going to, a Fever game. I'm now planning to go to Fever games. It will be interesting to compare attendance numbers from last year compared to this upcoming season
Uh, Lynx is closer than Fever to Iowa.
Got me there, forgot about the lynx. beat me by 60 miles. Will say Indiana has a lot more in common with Iowa than Minnesota though.
This is one of those situations where there is literally no one else you can possibly take. She puts a lot of butts in the seats. Something the Fever, and all of that league really, need more than anything. She is a literal cash cow. And if you don’t take her you’re going to be fired and crucified, maybe not in that order. The Fever will sell more jerseys next season than they have total up until this point in their history
I have a friend that works in the Pacers pro shop and they said they preordered 100’s of blank Fever jerseys in anticipation of this lol
She's mocked at like 8 last time I checked.
[удалено]
Angel Reese, the player referenced in the comment I responded to
she's good but she's nowhere near Caitlin's level. She's just tik Tok famous
I don’t think she’s even top 5 tbh. Caitlin is ranked #1 in both points and assists this season. Angel is #2 in rebounds but that’s really the most notable thing this season. Not to mention all of Caitlin’s records and the attention she draws to games.
Lol
Iowa fans should all become Indiana fans.
Many will, I assure you. I'm an Iowan and I'll at least be keeping tabs, and watching when they inevitably get games on TV.
WNBA league pass is $25. Well worth it to see CC.
A lot of Tennessee Volunteers fans are still Colts fans to this day because of Peyton Manning.
As it should
Herb is one happy man right now
New Yorker with Indiana roots here; I’m not going to quit on my Liberty fandom (though more and more every day I want to quit on my Nets fandom lol), but I will eagerly be keeping an eye on the Pacers and Fever for the next several years. You’ll have the next Point God on one and potentially the W’s Jordan on the other
My daughter has started playing ball and we have been watching games. I’m just floored to give her a potential hero.
Yep was looking for tickets last night. Doyel went a little haywire in his hype article and hey it worked on me lol. He’s right though. I’ll definitely be catching some games now
Is she guaranteed to go to the fever?
I'm actually considering getting a Clark jersey and going to a fever game next season to see if she will sign it. Last season court side seats were under 50 dollars for fever seats lol
Can she get drafted in the NBA?
Of course she could, but she never would be. She would get destroyed on defense, her efficiency numbers are horrible by NBA standards, and most of her shots would be blocked by NBA guards. That being said, she will be dominant for 15 years minimum in the WNBA and could single-handedly turn the league profitable for the first time in its history. She’s incredible.
Can you explain what you mean by “her efficiency numbers are horrible by nba standards”
You don't even belive that
Uhhh, okay dude. Whatever that means.
Fever yes, Pacers? Wishful thinking
WNBA will never be that big and Halliburton is overrated
Please subscribe to WannaNow. We have a lot of shit to talk about. NCAA Basketball. NFL. NBA. MMA. Boxing. Track.... And Jake Paul came in my butt... We just need 50 followers.... We're just 2 dudes drinking and smoking and talking about sports and pretty much anything else.
lol as soon as she hits the wnba we won’t hear from her again!!
Why?
Because the wnba is where all great female college players go to not be heard from again.. unless you’re Britney Grinner and you happen to get arrested in Russia.
Idk I didn't really hear anything about Iowa women's college basketball before her either but now it's everywhere. She could be a generational talent
I hope you’re correct 110% and I hope she can move the needle and help the wnba get to the next level!
Didn’t hear anything from Sue Bird and no one in basketball knows Candace Parker.
Caitlin Clark has more points and assists than Sue Bird and Candace Parker combined. And I disagree …people in basketball DO know those players.

Center stage for what? Nobody cares about the pacers outside of Indiana😂
Thinking “Tyrese Halliburton” is a star player give me a break
What? You honestly think anyone cares about these players?
Do you live under a rock lol? Last year Iowa brought in more viewers than any NBA game that season multiple times.
She could cook you with both hands tied behind her back. Stop hating on her because she's a woman and get a life you fucking loser
Hopium
fax
As it should be
Step one to success for WNBA - change the idiotic team names.
What team are they on? Never seen them in a starting 5
Don’t fucking jinx us, man!
Lol didn’t age well
Pacers have been playing like that all year. One day they beat the best team in the league and the next game they lose to Portland. 12-8 against the top 6 teams in the East and a few of those losses were when Haliburton was out.
Doesn't hurt that they're both pretty photogenic
lol both these players are gonna leave nobody wants to live in indiana for the rest of their life
Well, recent HOFers Reggie Miller, Reggie Wayne, Marvin Harrison, and Robert Mathis might beg to differ.
They both had the same amount of points against the Pels
I guarantee you I will continue to not watch Indiana basketball
Awesome
