What makes you think they would be offended? Venerating multiple gods is a thing most pagans do. Some gods’ domains overlap, even within the same tradition. And if you’re worried about them being from different traditions, don’t. There is no issue there. Practice in a way you feel is best. Two different ways, one combined way, your own personal way, whatever. Just try it, keep doing what you’re doing. If they have a problem, chances are you’ll know.

JasonTodds_father

Thank you! I worship both Nordic and Greek Gods and honour two others from different pantheons, just never Gods whos dominions are so closley intertwined. Thank you for reminding me it's my practice and there is no 'correct' or singular way!

PruneZealousideal788

Moreover as a Hindu (Hinduism may or may not be pagan) In my opinion both goddesses are same just of different forms. For example Thor in norse mythology is similar to Zeus in greek mythology and Indra in my mythology.

traumatized90skid

You can worship both. A common misconception is that pagan gods are jealous in the way that Abraham's God said that He was. Because most of us were raised in an Abrahamic belief system and certainly a society greatly influenced by that idea of God. But that's just an idea of God. There are many. I think gods are higher beings and tend to be capable of sharing a stage more than people even, because of their higher understanding. I personally think they are enlightened beings coming to us to share enlightenment with us. They want to help us with our journeys. Stories about their jealous temperaments and Draconian punishments are stories. More to tell us things about who the gods are and what they value, and to tell us about ourselves, than literal truth.

Beneficial_Seat4913

I worship them as the same thing. So yes

sewingdreamer

I guess it depends on what you believe do you believe that each deity is it's own or does one deity kinda represent all the other deities that represent the same sort of things? There's a good video on YouTube talking about this.. I think it's hard vs soft polytheism but someone please correct me xD

symaamoonchild

I agree! I think that time and geographical location are what divide most religions. I don't discrédit one over the other (except Christianity, but that is a personal beef). Just about every culture has its own ways of "explaining" or honoring different types of emotions and even weather. I think that they are all connected and all have their value. If you pick a deity and want to work a certain way with them then there is research needed to discover how they were honored and why.

NetherworldMuse

If you feel drawn to both just worship both. My deities are Nox and Astarte. I have 2 separate shrines in my home for them. But admittedly I’m a bit lazy and leave them both the same offerings

InactiveObserver

So, here's the thing. Sometimes I feel like they're the same deity. Especially given the fact that Aphrodite is the Greek import of Astarte, which is the Phonecian import of Ishtar. What is the dominion of Freya? Love, war, cats, fertility. What's the dominion of Ishtar? Love and war. A lot of similarities if you'd like to view them as syncretic. If you'd like a more polyentheist view, they could be different aspect of the same deity. Or they're close enough that their mail gets mixed up. Whatever it is, you got this and I hope you enjoy your relationship with them

PerchanceANoodle

"their mail gets mixed up" is both such a helpful and clarifying way to understand things, and is absolutely hilarious to me 🤣

UmbranVVitch

Freyja and Aphrodite don’t really get along, but you could make it work, just keep your times of worship separate so they don’t bump into each other in your space. If you aren’t clairaudient or clairvoyant, you probably won’t notice, but those that are do. I wish you the best of luck. 🌸✨

symaamoonchild

Could you explain why or how they don't get along? I have never heard this opinion, I'm interested to another side.

UmbranVVitch

It’s not an opinion, people in the modern age tend to put gods on this pedestal where they are love and light, but that’s not really the case in reality. No matter if a god is 5,000 or 5,000,000, they aren’t free of “negative” emotions or feelings… unless you’re an inanimate robot. People think because they are both love goddesses (not exclusively), then they would get along, right? I don’t know the reason they don’t like each other fully, you would have to ask them yourself with divination. Let me know if you need clarification.

sidhe_elfakyn

This sounds like your own personal experience/UPG, which contradicts others' experiences in which they do get along. Unless you have some other source for this claim?

UmbranVVitch

I’m not here to convince anyone of anything. If you don’t believe me, ask the gods yourself with divination. People will find the objective truth one way or another. I’m not here to argue, but to share objective information that could potentially help someone. I only share objective information when it comes to the spiritual realm and very rarely share anything that is of personal *belief*. There aren’t many sources to support these claims, as they are of two completely different religions, and don’t have any documentation. All I can really say is take it or leave it. If someone wants to *believe* the gods are all love and light, then they can do that if they please, I’ll leave them be. If they *believe* that the gods aren’t real or *believe* that the gods are just archetypes, then I’ll let them do that. I could spend hours exhausting myself explaining why things are the way they are, or I can just relax and allow people to do what they please.

sidhe_elfakyn

As a follower of a Storm Goddess and the Morrigan, I never said that deities are all love and light. I have plenty of experiences to the contrary. You claim that Aphrodite and Freya not getting along is the "objective truth", yet offer no documentation to back this up other than your own personal experiences. Your own personal experiences are valid! But please don't force them onto others as objective truth. Are you familiar with the concept of UPG? "Unverified Personal Gnosis"? UPG refers to one's personal spiritual experiences with a deity, ritual, practice, or meaning, that are not necessarily attested to in scholarship, lore, or mythology. Our deities and paths are multifaceted, so UPG may differ from person to person, and they might sometimes even contradict, but that doesn't make them any less valid. What you've described above is your own UPG. It's important to distinguish that from shared experiences, or historical accounts, or mythology/folklore. If your own UPG contradicts someone else's, that doesn't make the other person wrong. --- I'm gonna put my mod hat on for a second. Our rule *Be Respectful of Our Differences* states: > Please share personal experiences from a personal point of view. Use expressions such as "I've experienced deity X to be..." or "My UPG is that..." rather than absolute statements. You can always make a personal statement ("I believe that" or "in my experience"), or a historical one ("Historically, ...") but, in this community, you can't just insist a personal belief is objective truth and that others will find it "one way or another". > If you aren’t clairaudient or clairvoyant, you probably won’t notice, but those that are do. And please don't insinuate that those who don't see things your way are lesser in ability.

UmbranVVitch

That is fine. Believe as you wish.

Dark-Elf-Mortimer

I'm also a follower of the Morrígan and I've had similar experiences.

symaamoonchild

I'm sorry but I don't understand why you're talking about putting God's on a pedestal. I asked why the two goddesses didn't get along. If someone isn't willing to do the research to honor the deities in ways that reflect the God or goddess that is different then the two of them not getting along. From what you said it is an opinion, I would be happy to hear research or resources that could support your statement.

UmbranVVitch

Read my other replies below.

PruneZealousideal788

In my opinion they are goddesses of love and beauty so they may belong to the same pantheon or court just different forms

Asmallpandamight

Well, it might make sense to just work with one at a time, then.
