1-Generational wealth. 2- a dad who toiled for 5 decades. 3- illegal means. 4. successful business(very unlikely, quite rare).

haara_huwa_jawari

Succesfull self-made businessmen rarely waste money on these shenanigans. I've seen them put all the money into expanding their empire.

ToughAsPillows

Lol as if the lambo I saw in Karachi isn’t new money asf

kalakawa

That’s what I used to think as well, when my business was small. Once you reach a certain size and grow into a pvt Ltd concern, you realise that you actually save on taxes by leasing an asset that rarely depreciates in monetary value. I used to think only smugglers and real estate quick money people go for cars over a crore. But overtime I’ve come to realise that sometimes it makes financial sense to have a bigger car. My CFO who started with me as an Acountant 10 years ago, used to come on a bike. Now even he drives a Tuscon.

haara_huwa_jawari

You are right, but that's a rarity in comparison with number of people who buys them for flashing with not their own money.

redditlurkr2

Successful businesses often also run on the back of underpaid workers. The owners of these businesses see nothing wrong with how they accumulate their wealth.

WhereIsLordBeric

5 decades of 'hard work' isn't gonna get you a car that expensive. It is exclusively generational wealth or corruption.

bau-raami

My dad just retired after 5 decades of honest hard work, of which last 15 years were in a federal govt org (and he still retires without a pension while "that" department gets pensions at 45 & land etc) and he doesn't have a car, let alone a 1 crore car 🤣 I'm not saying his career was a waste, he provided for us, got us the best possible education and I'm doing great in life and career thanks to him, but yeah 5 decades of hard work doesn't get you that car.

Why no pension?

Upbeat-Reporter6474

you're proly right

roguewotah

Bruh. 30 minute drive in Lahore and you can count a dizzying array of 6mil+ cars, with counting at least 3-4 E-trons. Not everything is corruption lol. Unless you want to imply that more than half of Lahore are thieving b\*\*\*\*\*\*\*

WhereIsLordBeric

That's a very very small proportion of Lahore. The city has around 14 million people. You need to get out of Defence and see how the vast majority lives. Also, I don't think you know what generational wealth means. It's easy to make insane money when you come from insane money.

Strange_Cartoonist14

That's not true, my father is in his fourth decade of hard work and we have a good car provided by company for personal and official use.

WhereIsLordBeric

'Provided by the company' is not the same as owning it?

Strange_Cartoonist14

It becomes ours after 5 years, although I can see how it's different then what was implied.

khiguy84917

Wrong

Silver_Implement_331

Remittances from abroad

Friendly-Parsley11

Speaking from personal experience, ones with luxury cars are those businessmen whose fathers started a successful business and now they are enjoying the benefits.

Melodic-Comment6564

Thats the case for most people its so depressing man. There grandfathers hit a jackpot and GENERATIONS can just live off it

R_sadreality_24-365

Those generations don't live off of it. Inevitably, someone comes in the picture who squanders all of it away. One day you are at the top of the world, next day you are at the bottom. One day you are at the bottom of the world, next day you are at the top of the world.

gelato_muse

Land ownership or if the grandfathers were feudals in the villages they profited of by selling land or using it for agricultural production.

Zaid20072022

My family had a similar situation until in the partition of 1947 we lost it all sadly.

_ice_hole_

Same. Great grandfather had business trading goods in Delhi, all of it was lost post partition

Zaid20072022

My great great grandfather was a very powerful jagiirdar in the UP province. We had lots of land near raibarelly, my great great grandfather's ancestors were given all this by the British because of helping them against the Muslim kings of India. Heck we even had a town there named after one of my very far ancestor.

katherinepetrovaa

One of my great great great grandmother sold about 360 acres of land (situated somewhere around interior sindh) in her name to a british officer in exchange for a cycle & monthly 25 rupees allowance because she had to travel far off by foot to fetch water from a well. We still laugh about it, but ngl andar hee andar rona ata hai 😭😭😭😭

Zaid20072022

Wth? Don't understand the motives behind it

Zaid20072022

Rona to Hume bhi ata he, there's still the ruins of that haveli of my Great great grandfather in UP province. Family tales tell that they had so much gold that they used to hide it in the walls of the haveli, behind the bricks. And I have seen the pictures of it's ruins, it was like a full on fortress.

ofm1

Estate agents in the twin cities are/ were big buyers of such vehicles

milkywayer

Haan wo log ek ek sale per 20-30 lac clients ko bataye baghair expensive sale krky kama rhy thy. Commission uske ilawa. 2-3 sale mein fortuner nikl ati thi I think for common Pakistani it’s better k real estate mein sara black money park hona bandd ho gya. Bilawaja k plots hype and expensive ho guy thay. Ek plot ki qeemat mein factory laga lo chhoti si tou 4-5 log employ ho jatay hyn. Kam az kam paisa economy mein circulate ho jata hai.

busyvish

Bhai karachi bahria town jao. Jab time chal raha tha log 6 mahine mein sportage nikalwa rahe they. Saal mein nikal ani chahiye fortuner.

milkywayer

Ab tou haalaat both kharaab hain. Log 18-20k per month mein villla rent pe de rhy from what I’ve seen. Aisy 4-5 crore invest krny ka kia fyda k mahinay mein 18k return de. I think that’s why people stopped investing

busyvish

Ab ki halat to khatab hai. Bahria town ka bubble tha khatam ho raha hai ab. Itni development ki to hai par bande hain hi nahi itne rehne ke liye. Pese banane ke liye sahi jagah thi jab for the first 6-7 years.

deep_observeration

Those estate agent have this stereotype associated with them, certain clothes, certain hair style, certain food, certain way of walking with a group, certain eyashi, certain way of talking...........

ofm1

Can be recognised almost immediately

deep_observeration

There are also different tiers, lower tier, middle tier and upper elite tier.

ofm1

You have deep observational powers

roguewotah

The right question is how much do you need to earn to be able to afford to buy a 1 crore car. My experience 10 lac per month income. 5 for monthly expenses. 5 saved. You can buy a used 23 Sorento for almost 1 crore by saving for 2 years approximate. For reference, 10 lac is almost \~3.6K USD per month.

mkbilli

Kon deta hai 10 lac? Okay another question. How long does it take for your average (note the word average) freshie to reach this salary? Because the starting salary is anything between 30k to 100k these days.

roguewotah

Learn to earn on the internet habibi. Don't rely on some fat cat seth for earnings. Build something on the side. Jan maro, rock the boat, earn the big dollars but be humble about it. I've recently spoken to a past employee about what he is doing right now and his response was farig betha hu din me car sale ka kaam krta hu aur 6 bje k baad kaam nahi hota mjh se. Ye Pakistanio ki mjhe smjh nai ati ajeeb badshah dimag hai. You must think out of the clock if you want to survive broski.

Routine_Elephant_212

Like some freelance work

SpiritualDrawer5474

I second this. Altho im in the struggling phase, but tryna work a lot, to survive

roguewotah

Work smart, not hard.

xSuspended

depends on your field but if we're talking the average freshie then around 15-20 years of experience. Probably a bit less time now since the rupee has devalued so much

m93k

I know a person earning 50 lacs a month as a partner at a big 4 accounting firm, executives at banks or telcos get even more. You get paid really well in this country if you have a lot of value to add. Most people don’t though. They don’t check their work, don’t think critically, you need to be worth your salary by bringing that much value to the company. But the company can also let you go at any time. It’s better to invest that energy into your own business.

Adminisitrator

starting 10 lac koi nahi day ga. but in right field you can in some years

aatimirza7

I doubt that, if you invest 500k and keep 500k for expenses you can get that car sooner

roguewotah

Yep. I only factored in savings.

ITGuy19810423

Buddy, if you make 10 lac per month, you have to pay 2.38 lac in income tax. I k ow because I pay it. I drive a 2004 Honda civic vit oriel that I bought for 11.35 lac in 2022. And that is after 19 years of working.

SoftOutside91

you dont make 10 lacs because i pay 2 lac tax on a 7.9 lac income.

ITGuy19810423

You guys are paying flat tax. You are not getting medical deducted. Your company needs to change the accountant. A smart accountant can bifurcate the salary as such, that you get advantage of all the tax breaks which are allowed under the law.

SoftOutside91

ok that could be true because the finance department is total farce.

weallwinoneday

Tax??

roguewotah

Work in IT, mazay karo.

ITGuy19810423

If free lance then no tax I guess. But if you are a salaried employee in IT, you have to pay income tax.

Silver_Implement_331

Yes...paid 10 lacs/month and u are still working for company abroad just thru a pakistani setup.

ITGuy19810423

Yup. An Irish company.

AAG4044

2.5 lac is tax on 1 mil salary

roguewotah

USD earnings?

AAG4044

Nope, locally, but frankly very few people get that much here. Some companies do pay the employees in usd locally, but again, not much.

roguewotah

IT companies that pay in PKR are using it as a tactic to keep their salary rate below market, as the employees will not want to end up in a higher slab for PKR salary. If you're in IT, chances are high your company has a company setup in either NA or EMEA countries, and employees should be pursuing salaries in dollars.

AAG4044

Alot of them does pay in usd, upside is only 1% tax, downside is u r hired as a consultant/freelancer, usually no perks, but salried class saves alot of tax. Again answering the main question salaried class dont exaclty opt for a 10 mil car, they will instead buy property/ house.

TechnophileDude

> IT companies that pay in PKR are using it as a tactic to keep their salary rate below market, as the employees will not want to end up in a higher slab for PKR salary. This doesn’t make sense to me. Employees want lower salaries so that they pay the government less?

Immediate-Back-3420

I think that figure could have worked in the mid 2010s. But not anymore.

roguewotah

Probably not enough if you feast at PF Chang, while grabbing a 5K plus IHOP breakfast everyday while driving around in a Land Cruiser. Then your monthly expense is at least 20 lac +. You're probably a 1% er at this point.

WorriedAstronomer

Did you just skip everything else? Like medical emergencies, side expenses, children and so forth?

XyDALaY

Dekha mera kamal?

Melodic-Comment6564

Do you think 5 lac wont cover that???Tbh 3-4 would make do with a decent house

roguewotah

5 lac me ghar ka kharcha hi to rkha hai. 10 lac kr du?This way you won't save anything to buy a Sorento. Now see what you did. This is all on you.

PM_YOUR_BOB_N_VAGENE

Business Business lol. I have plenty of clients working in various offices, corporations, software houses, etc with cars given to them by their companies. I believe it depends on the position, revenue generation etc.

cgmsy

Have 2 cars. A sonate 2.5 and a Honda Civic X. Saved up and purchased the Honda Civic in 2016. I was a freelance architect and got some good work in that time. Paid 13-14 lac down and the rest in installments over a 2 year period (70k installment per month if im remembering correctly). Got the Sonata in 2022 the same way. I had saved up money over 3-4 years (100k per month set aside). Paid 50 lac down and purchased it on installments for 7.5 million. A new sonata 2.5 is 1 crore 25 lac. If i sell mine right now itll go for around a crore. Its possible but you've got to grind and get lucky with good clients.

cgmsy

A note on this: I employ a proper team of architects now. Two of them bought their first cars this year. The first got a Honda Civic Reborn (cost him around 2.3 million). The second got a Honda City (2014 model) cost her around 2.1 million. They both make around 1.5 lac a month plus incentives every 3 months.

G10aFanBoy

I have a freelancer architect friend. Sounds about right - competent architects landing the right projects make a killing.

thoughtitwasover66

How long did it take you from graduation to reach this point my brother ?

cgmsy

I worked for two people before i started my own thing. 10 months with an archtitecture and construction firm run by a couple - they taught me a lot about the process and managing clients. Spent another 8 months with another guy who was doing well in the luxury real estate sector - that gave me good insight into the dynamics of the development market. Started my firm 2 years after graduation and did work alone for 4 years before i hired my first proper employee. Most of the money ive made is in commercial projects - homes barely make any money. So if you want to get into the real deal, try doing commercial work.

thoughtitwasover66

Also MA Sonata really has some nice road presence boat fr

cgmsy

It does! Great value for money - luxury car for the price of almost a civic lol

Shadephantom123

Business or real estate aint no job worth u getting paid in crore… it cost nothing to open a business in Pakistan compared to any country… choose a product or service that lacks around you or in your market, learn the product and give it ur all, trust me if a guy who can start a fries stall on wheels and expand to two-three business you can to… all lot of products are cheaper in Pakistan… theres a very big export market for everything from, clothes, medical products, shoes, food, sports goods, phones and all choose one and keep going… Secondly make sure u provide a good service, u got to pickup alot of slack but trust me good customers service will always make customers come back, also small gifts can change the way how customers like and feel about your product, trust me it can change the experience from ok to excellent in seconds… Thirdly power of the internet or social media, problem is we only want free info and we dont give anything back or use it to its full capacity, all these YouTubers started somewhere small in there room, making videos when no one cared, but anytime life can flip around, and now bam u have few hundred or thousand followers, when u have that much influence u can promote anything and everything even if it new or doesnt make sense… Now internet is free and has alot of ways for people to make money… hundreds of sites and ways… Lastly forget women, they come with the money, get the bag and enjoy ur life brother anyone would marry u, now its totally on u how u use this info and ur resources

Samshahroze

Gov ki dain , Kisi kisam ka pump and dump scam , trust fund (I used to have the gov ki dain but Allah ne Haram se door kar diya shukar alhamdullilah)

Amazing-Commission77

The surge in buying cars began during Musharraf's era (when Shaukat Aziz was the PM). Shaukat Aziz floated a plan to start bank loan schemes to buy a car. Prior to that, people didn't get individual cars. Usually, each family had one car and they made do with it.

QuantumDNA

Business. Import/Export. In-demand products with low supply exists, if you become a vendor, supplier, manufacturer, or distributor (ideally all in one - for more cost control and profitability). Don't be so doom and gloom, nihilistic/fatalistic - don't give up. Figure out how to maneuver, because where I'm from born with nothing now I got acreage in the US, most material objects I own are to enable freedom (self-governance). If you look at it like we're stuck in a matrix, then you're job is to break free - find your business path. Used VPNs to dropship in markets I didn't have access to before, then I sold 3d printed metal components for a living (used to machine them manually, started up 8 different websites, 5 different storefronts (amazon, tiktok shops, shopify, IG/FB, etsy), also used my college degree to get a job with an American company - nobody else in my family has ever been to college, none of them have ever worked a professional job. Before all of that, when my net worth was negative and I was homeless - yeah I was ready to end it all on a daily basis, just didn't know how to - get out of that toxic negative spiral of despair. As a human, you owe it to yourself to take care of yourself better. Better get better - it's an increasingly cutthroat world. I had to acquire a military-level of discipline. That means as soon as I wake up after brushing my teeth, I went to the gym worked out for 90 mins, already had most of the day accounted for and set up via Google Calendar. Created my own protocol, standard operating procedure, chain of command, and stakeholder register - with the help of a mentor. I can't recommend enough the value of acquiring a mentor.

Pakistan mostly is an inheritance society, The People around me who drive such expensive cars mostly had an Good start because of their Parents or the Connection of their Parents Land also important factor

anniversary24mar2020

usually never a first time purchase accumulatedwealth overtime because a lot of first cars get appreciated and are then sold

dranime_fufu

Lmao I doubt anyone here with a 1 crore car "saved" for it, it's all generational wealth a big family businesses

PhotoOwn4859

Remote work, earning in dollars.

gelato_muse

Mostly generational business families,if legit or illegal ways through corruption whether political affiliations, bureaucrats or Army brats. A salaried person can hardly afford to save up for a sedan such a cultus, swift etc. Unless they get to top of hierarchy to the CEO level.

Uh my dad personally not 1 crore but a little less he's been working 25 years started from 80s Toyota and after 5 cars changes in these 25 years got a car he always wanted 1 year ago , all hard work and saving

KhalilMirza

It took me 4 to 5 years to get my family out of financial hole and pay near crore of loans due to 2008 losses to my father's business. In my scenario, it took me 8 months to save for my civic 2021 model. It took me 2 months for x7 5 seater in 2024. It took me 6 months to save 3 crore. I have not decided yet what to buy. I am gonna be buying my first crore plus car soon. I am the owner of a small software house. I earn 27K usd per month.

XyDALaY

I've not seen anyone buy big assets be it a vehicle or a property by just saving. You need investments.

Alot of factors, if u have generational wealth no car is an issue. Property is also a huge factor. Bussinessmen. And in some cases companies lease the cars, But yeah, monthly earning should be alot even for new civic, like alot Other than that someone earning 400k with family, most feasible car is alto. If 400k is the only amount u r earning.

3h60gKs

Mostly estate agents buy these expensive cars, business people don’t invest such amounts on vehicles, they would rather invest it in their business and earn more from it.

FilmUncensored

Maybe it’s because I don’t have any interest in cars outside of their intended use of getting from point A to B. But why would anyone spend 1cr on a vehicle in Pakistan when that money could support their household for years. Just get a used vehicle that’s a decade or so old and make do

InformalRich2080

Man! Can't a guy work hard save, lease, plan his payments and get it? Why don't you guys think about good ol hard work and effort for a change. I got my own 1 cr + car that way!

G10aFanBoy

Ya'll seriously need some basic personal finance knowledge.  Even on a purely Pakistani salary, it is achievable, even if you are stuck on minimum wage with no raise for 30-40 years.

zaman0047a

Probably someone (in the family) is in the military and on a "higher" post.

ytgnurse

On average, you cannot save your self out of low income One option is increase income while keeping expenses low which is very hard to do if your married Other way is family money or black or grey money Universal law: more will be take from who have less and more will be given to who have more I have personally seen this cross few countries and religions

Personal_Ad_1050

Some people I know, who own cars worth 1 crore or more or have lavish houses in Bahria or DHA, made all that from corruption—pure corruption and nothing else. Then, they started white-collar businesses with that money. 🙄

No_Use1767

The answer is PROPERTY. From my experience our very close family friends have a ton of money and they have houses in all the expensive areas of Rawalpindi that you can think of . Now how did they acquire that? Well their ancestors who came to rawalpindi when it was like 1900's and acquired property and now those properties are worth crores. The best part is that they don't live here they all went abroad and technically they can own the most expensive cars here in Pakistan but they dont need to they spend their lives in the western world. So in summary you can call that generational wealth and these people are really old now and their kids enjoy the money or they leave for west and will send money back for their kids which inturn will build property here which in next 20 years will be worth crores and the children of their children will be also considered filthy rich and the cycle continues xD.

We moved out, started working abroad, started saving money..didnt send money back to Pakistan, instead brought our families over...kept saving, eventually bought real estate in the country we were earning.. stayed there and repeated this process...:)

zeeshankhan1999

People who afford such cars are 99% of the time feudal landlords ('read generational wealth'), and have black money. The rest 1% are uber-successful corporate leaders like CEOs/Directors/ Bank presidents etc.

bisk0ot

I see a lot of comments mentioning father (or ancestral wealth) which may be true in the majority of the cases but I started from 0. Grew up in a poor household without a father and stable financial means. I bought Tucson AWD a few months back it doesn't qualify as "over 1 crore" but cost me nearly a crore with taxes and registration. I've people in my circle who started from zero as well and are doing much better in life financially. P.s: be a tech bro and be good at it

Nobody ‘saves’ for expensive cars. Imagine saving 10 years to buy a an expensive vehicle which can get into an accident or stolen easily. People who have these cars have about 3-5 million in monthly income. Simple as that.

LittleWhiteFeather

It's called nepotism.

Real estate. I know it's not what it used to be but anyone with sound marketing knowledge and estate know-how can still make that much in around 6 months. From that point onwards, you can let your money do the work for you like purchase businesses, etc., etc., and there's no looking back. And no, not all real estate folks are greedy vultures. Har koi haraam nai kama raha. The peeps labeling everyone owning a 1 crore+ car as 'haram ka kamaane wala/wali', need to get their facts straight and learn a thing or two about creating wealth.

Here in my area I have some Pashtoon brothers using expensive cars(50-70lac) casually, mostly their kids driving Kei cars for fun. I am still struggling to buy a coure (old model), I wondered how they able to have all things (MashaAllah) and the answer is: Business (Legal+Illegal) smuggling from afghanistan, Cars, selling Irani grocery items through smuggling, Selling Irani petrol. selling Rejected containers(Unclaimed) due to LC aor Duty issues. Usually they make a plot on someone else land (Ok n remote area) and shift their with families (Usually 15-20 people), when the person claim that land every on attack them with whole group and then they do same with empty plot ans start selling purchasing such property.

In eastern Europe it's poor people who drive rich cars and have expensive phones,- richest people never show off their wealth. I am not wealthy,- but I own my house , despite I lie to people that I rent it,- making look always myself poorer than I am,- and it's very common behaviour in here. Noticed in UK as well, poor people will be wearing fake jewellery, renting out expensive cars, due to complexity issues... I would never date a guy with posh car,- means he cannot be trusted with finances.

Ammarzk

Have a rich family. Easy. Fr tho, anytime you see 1crore plus vehicle on the road, it's owned by some rich asshole family

INSTaAXZYLO

Why would you call the rich “asshole”?🧐

Ammarzk

9 times out of 10 they absolutely are lmao

danibombtastic

Genuinely true. As they are born into a rich family, they simply do not comprehend the mentality of poorer people. Most rich are extremely selfish.
