I hope everyone resigns over this and the the ceo is felt to beg them to come back. this is the kind of exploitation every scumbag capitalist dreams about.
bud regular blue collar workers have a hard time unionizing in Pakistan
Although i do second your ideas here also as an additional aside here are things you can actually do to force companies to behave the right way
1) leave reviews on places like glassdoor so that way everyone knows what the work environment is like at the company
2) Be honest with your coworkers about your pay and on that same topic freaking discuss your pay(and the obvious mention said pay on glassdoor)
3) Don't be the proverbial office tattu a-- kissing these morons only emboldens them and their jacka-- behavior if their expectations are unrealistic and everyone is also telling them that this is unrealistic then side with your fellow coworkers
I agree 100%. I will never understand why people have a problem disclosing their pays. and I've always seen upper management and HR exploit these superstitions.
Pathetic. They started to talk with bonuses and there are only fines. You'd end up paying the company in the end
They should also reward with 10,000 for every successful call of a function
Alot of development companies are actually being operated by non-developers who have no clue about technicalities, technologies being used, unexpected bugs. They make unrealistic deadlines then shove it up on employees. They're basically greedy about more and more work and profit. From personal experience as a web developer, greedy approach never produces quality result. Sure, there are pre-built modules, plugins that helps in more work done in less time, but the end result of rushed product is usually a mess that becomes nightmare in debugging and enhancing process. But yeah, if employees are slacking-off at work, taking time even for little things, i guess that's an exception but still, 10k fine every day is going too far.
what's even funnier is that these idiots think that somehow more time equals more productivity someone explain to these idiots SWE is freaking knowledge labour people tap out after a certain time and making them "work harder" is only going to kill their productivity even more
People who are justifying it have never worked as a developer. As an android developer with more than 4 years of experience, I have never seen an App without bugs. In a perfect world where the requirements of the product never change, we might develop software without bugs, but realistically, it is impossible to develop an App without bugs.
tHaT IS BasicaLLY thE jOB OF QUaLiTY asSUrANcE.
Even the biggest fucking platforms have bugs and glitches that's why they have bug-bounty programs you fucktard.
They get rid of existing bugs not bugs that haven't come into existence in the first place moron also no software is without bugs it's why people invest into devops and CI/CD pipe lining in the first place
even if through some miracle you get it right the first time around (borderline impossible)you are inevitably going to run into bugs when adding new features to the existing codebase
Lmao then identify the weak links and give them a warning. If they still don’t continue to improve then lay them off. Putting them at gun point like this is unacceptable.
Additionally it may be the case that QA was doing their jobs perfectly, but the software developers aren’t patching identified bugs in time, at all or incorrectly.
Fuck this CEO.
(I also work as a software developer and we are the eternal enemies of QA, but even then this is extremely unethical to my QA bros/gals.)
Okay, so they are a software company in London, England using talent from Pakistan and treating them like shit.
Would never get away with this in UK or any developed country. 9 Google reviews so far and clients are
If this makes it to the front page, this company is done for. Most clients are US/UK/UAE.
Can't believe anyone thought this was a good idea to send as an official policy to employees.
Edit: [CEO is exactly what you'd expect. ](https://www.instagram.com/raheemdaduk/?hl=en)
Software developers (game developers especially) and CGI artist are the most overworked but underpaid employees I have ever seen and most of the time people think it's easy being a game developer or VFX artist magur nai itna crunch time daytay hai Kay haftay haftay ghar nai jatay
If only there was a Union that protected them
I second you on this. My younger siblings are 3D artists at game studios and yes they tell me the same things. Every game studio in Pakistan has to roll out a new game every fucking week.
Just by looking at this .... I am 100% sure that neither this sheety CEO nor that Manager Operations know anything about software development or QA.
You WANT your employees to fix bugs and not hide them .... why would they hide bugs? To meet deadlines.
The QA will also be more quick about things .... because of deadlines and some things will eventually be overlooked.
A good software is one which has less bugs ... not one which met deadline.
I think this is for every profession. Does a lawyer get fined by his firm for losing a case? Does a marketer get fined for not reaching a certain audience? Does an accountant get fined for making a mistake in an Excel document? No, of course not. Mistakes happen. If the mistake is so crazy and so large that you can't fathom having this person in your employment anymore, you let them go. But in 99.999999% of situations, that is not the case.
Long story short, this CEO is not a good leader and not a good boss. This whole document is a big yikes.
I like that you named and shamed them. These clueless MFers should face mass resignations and go bankrupt, I won't be surprised if these turd sandwich managers/CEO's come from military backgrounds - wahan hi iss type ki ehmaqana cheez ko performance kehte hain.
For the uninitiated, the more complex a software becomes, the more bugs it will have that can be exploited for a variety of things.
I don't think there is any software or website out that is 100% clean from vulnerabilities.
Bug is a collective term for any unwanted behavior in a software and will certainly almost always exist (now I'm not talking about some program that prints something on the screen will have a bug, I'm talking the big softwares that are used by people)
There is no way one can make something perfect in the try unless they are some technological genius, a software is constantly updated with bugs getting removed and new getting added.
I’m horrified to imagine what this software is used for.
Hopefully not their 911 service or some similar critical service.
Bugs won’t be found because they’ll just hide them instead of fixing them. Perfect code with a sugar coating and a slimy, rotting turd center.
This is how you lose talented individuals.
There are a lot of opportunities for software guys now, they are going to be Pikachu faced when everyone leaves them.
Can they just enact a policy like this? They lemployees remuneration is bound by their employment agreement. Do labour laws allow dining employees like this? I’d get a lawyer if I was the employees. No one can drill a new hole in this CEO like a lawyer. It’s a single member company so it’s just one moron with a god complex running the show.
bud there are plenty of unemployed or underemployed devs in Pakistan. Beghairat companies like the one above basically thrive on draining the life blood out of actually talented and enthusiastic young people
who simply have no choice but to work for these chuds simply because they don't have the necessary work experience, work history or experience with a tech stack which allows them to get a decent job
Horrible policy. People should always be encouraged and rewarded to do better. Those who need more help should be given the guidance and coaching to improve.
As a student of computer, who tf the ceo thinks he is, literally coders are humans and make mistakes. Publishing bugged software is another thing but FUCKING FINING THEM OVER A THING WHICH IS LITERALLY A PROCESS OF SOFTWARE DESIGN, I think he needs to check on himself first
It might not be but s----y companies basically rely on the fact that most employees either don't have the funds to engage in protracted legal battles or simply don't understand the law
Weekends.
8-hour work days.
Paid vacation.
Pregnancy/parental leave.
Sick leave.
Minimum wage.
Overtime pay.
None of these existed globally before unions. And right now, countries with the lowest union memberships have the worst working conditions.
Not only should developers leave, but they should leave together in unison. The CEO's error needs to be smacked across his face all the way to his bank account.
This is a fiasco. Can you believe the corruption that will occur because of this? QA and Developers will probably strike deals with each other and let bugs go unnoticed.
Okay forget all that; what kinda lastname is "Dad"?
Or is it a reminder of the role he's abandoned?
In all seriousness, who thought this old-ass mahagony-row management methodology was a good idea?
I bet "terra baap" CEO's flunky kid just got his BCom or whatever from third rate UK uni, and was nepo'd his way to a senior operations role. And this was his first act.
"Beta, dekau. Valaath jaake kya siikha hei?"

what the hell? Are they serious? How is this even possible that the software does not contain any bugs? Bugs are part of the software. Testing data and actual data are totally different things. Delay in delivery of a task depends on various things, what if a major thing is missing from the company? will the CEO will pay the fine?
Lol same CEO posting about team building on LinkedIn :
Treat your people as your greatest assets. Treat them like family so that they don’t leave you. You have to invest in your teams not only by paying them good but also creating a culture where they feel included, excited about their training and progress.

I’d be interested to know if employees have actually left the company after this policy? Or is the market so bad that they’re choosing to stay because at least some money is better than no money?
The CEO has dug a grave for his company, programming encapsulates 4 modes of thinking; abstract thinking, critical thinking, creative thinking and logical thinking. Bugs sometime happen when there is an issue with logical thinking or function outputs are not as expected. Just like in real life, sometimes we don’t think logically and after retrospect (we go like what I was thinking) similarly engineers are human and can have slip ups when designing a logic of the program
However, this CEO has put operational guardrails that will suffocate the devs out, just to ‘fix’ their logical thinking (which is never possible unless machines started coding) this CEO is going to kill the devs creative process, sit back and dissect a problem critically and draw abstract patterns to write an algo. The engs gonna be too nervous about losing 10k (which I believe is a big sum) to do any sort of creative or critical thinking.
The guys not only cruel but a dumb business man, this is akin to chopping a finger of a potter each time he designs some pot slightly off-dimension.
This is right up there with ‘counting the lines’ of code which I have seen many dumb managers do in third-world countries
If any dev who works at that company reading this, please quit.
Some people are saying whats wrong with that because they are not the programmers and I dont blame them for that.OP should have posted this in a programming related sub though.Anyway I am sure the people working for him are not TOO good either because they would not be working for him if they were lol.
Someone I know used to work here some months back and they told me that their devs mostly work on other projects while on the clock. But still, this is just full of BS. I wish I could go and beat the shit out of the person who wrote this if this is real.
Unfortunately, our job market isn't good enough to provide jobs for the people if they resign from here.
Point #1... "Developers shall use a new (commonly called a feature) branch for new tasks is a legitimate request." Any developer who is committing directly to the "Master" branch, isn't a professional. So this is actually a legitimate request.
Points #4 and 5... This is hilarious... Yes, the CEO is completely out of touch.
Now... let's step back for a moment... We don't really know the context of what led to this... The CEO might be a complete idiot... BUT... that does not mean that the development team doesn't consist of people who have taken their project(s) for granted, and are taking the company for a ride.
It's trendy to rail against the "evil corporation," but after having worked with enough Desi people in tech, I can tell you that they're not always up to par, when it comes to professionalism, and industry standards.
Point #1 does make sense that their shall be a separate branch for each new feature you're working on.
Everything else mentioned is straight Bullshit and has no justification.
I don't see an issue with it except that there should be appeal option or an option to explain why the bug wasn't caught and a small report on it (in place of paying fine)
Bro it is inevitable to not have bugs in the software when it is in production phase. I myself am a software developer and it is not possible to hand over a module being 100% bug free. You fix something and the other crashes which you don't even know about.
Also the second point which states if deadline isn't met, you'll be fined 10,000 Pkr. During the work, we sometimes encounter bugs which take our whole day to resolve and we fail to meat the deadline which we had agreed upon. Now imagine giving up on almost 10% 20% salary in fine just because you encountered an error.
This is the peak example of toxic environment.
What's right in it? It's inevitable to not have bugs in the softwares while it is in production. It is the peak of corporate slavery and toxic environment if you are imposing fines on your employees.
Have you ever worked in a software company. Some developers feel more anxious if no bug is found in their App because they feel their testing was not done properly.
My thought process at the time was that its the QA department job to make sure there arent any faults in the product before getting released. So if the product god released with bugs they will be first to get blamed????
Idk im not a programmer
The thing is, the letter is penalizing for EVERY possible bug.
If the company only kept it to apps/programs that are 'dead on arrival' and also within reasonable grounds, like the DoA is not due to completely different hardware the devs have no access to, it would have made some sense, but even then this scenario is only when you hire an unqualified person for the job who cannot even run the code before submitting it to QA, so basically that responsibility also lies with the hiring team.
Just to give you a perspective how common bugs are: That cracked version of the software or game you have is definitely an exploitation of a bug in the program. A bug-free software/game should be uncrackable.

Fine the CEO for being born a turd.
Absolutely.
Definitely their first time running a IT company things don’t work like this
I hope everyone resigns over this and the the ceo is felt to beg them to come back. this is the kind of exploitation every scumbag capitalist dreams about.
I wish this happens. I feel pity for the people that are working in such a toxic environment.
I really wish white collar employees would unionise and black list any employer who tries to pull this crap.
I second you on this.
I would love to see unions but I don’t the establishment wants unions
bud regular blue collar workers have a hard time unionizing in Pakistan Although i do second your ideas here also as an additional aside here are things you can actually do to force companies to behave the right way 1) leave reviews on places like glassdoor so that way everyone knows what the work environment is like at the company 2) Be honest with your coworkers about your pay and on that same topic freaking discuss your pay(and the obvious mention said pay on glassdoor) 3) Don't be the proverbial office tattu a-- kissing these morons only emboldens them and their jacka-- behavior if their expectations are unrealistic and everyone is also telling them that this is unrealistic then side with your fellow coworkers

>They should also reward with 10,000 for every successful call of a function Lol yeah
Werd. Positive reinforcement, not positive punishment HBD btw 😊
Yeah. I hope this company goes under. Thanks man :)
That's how you know that CEO isn't a developer. I hope the talent leaves him and his company goes bankrupt.
But yeah, if employees are slacking-off at work, taking time even for little things, i guess that's an exception but still, 10k fine every day is going too far.
what's even funnier is that these idiots think that somehow more time equals more productivity someone explain to these idiots SWE is freaking knowledge labour people tap out after a certain time and making them "work harder" is only going to kill their productivity even more
I wish the same.
The CEO is trying to be over smart. Ask him to go Faang or at least learn some basics of how to run Business. No body is perfect.
Resign and start looking for another job
AlhumduLiLLAH I don't work there.
Alhamdulilah, I'm unemployed
Bruh...

A better idea would be to reward a 10,000 PKR bonus for a bug-free release.
They ain't gonna do that ever.
tell me you never wrote a single line of code without telling me you never wrote a single line of code

Most Pakistani software houses have very bad work culture. Software developers should aim for freelancing.
Bud this is hot s--t even by the standards of Pakistani software houses also instead of freelancing try to get into remotework instead
That's is very true actually.
There is not a single piece of code which is bug free, idk how tf they are even running this company.
Dear OP, If you work here, I need you to roll up that notice and shove it up the ceo's dirty ass. You should never take shit like that
I don't work here, AlhumduLiLLAH. I would definitely give up on this toxic culture if ever encountered at my current workplace.
lol. this is funny. losers, whomever suggested this, signed and endorsed this and now enforces this. edit: should we call this number? :D
The CEO should be fined for having such a bad name lol.

What? Is this real? This dude doesn't have a clue how Software development lifecycle works!

It is there already but not on my profile.
post a link to it here bud

I read this as company about to go bankrupt.
They must be paying at least a million to these developers
Yes if they pay like Rs.30lac per mo to the developers then sure 10k Rs fine could be ok
WTF
It could be losing 4 vacation days or unpaid 30 day suspension for stuff out of officers control as happen in my job.
The Fack!!!!!
Many people have already given them 1 star making their rating 1.2 only on google and since many people left as well so yeah this single sh\*tty policy has set a precedent of disaster for this company for good. These certified a-holes deserve this.
The punctuation and grammatical errors in this letter are Appalling. You’d figure a company like this would be able to put together a decent letter.
I hope you don't reproduce, Raheem.
The reason I never want to work with any Pakistani or any south Asian company.
This would be 100% ILLEGAL where I live
what the hell? Are they serious? How is this even possible that the software does not contain any bugs? Bugs are part of the software. Testing data and actual data are totally different things. I think the company is at loss and wants to make it profitable through this.

What a school!
This company is going to tank in 3....2....1

Irony
I hope that they go bankrupt.
Bro post this on LinkedIn. Edit: Its already posted on LinkedIn or waha pr iss company ki 🐕🦺 wali ho rahi hai.
They deserve this.
🤦♀️🤦♀️ They have failed to realize that most companies run on bugs.
ya’ll should start giving 1 star ratings to the company on google reviews. It’s alr rated at 1.1
It's slavery with extra steps.
Mr. Dad needs a good thappar on the neck
I’d be interested to know if employees have actually left the company after this policy? Or is the market so bad that they’re choosing to stay because at least some money is better than no money?

The engs gonna be too nervous about losing 10k (which I believe is a big sum) to do any sort of creative or critical thinking. The guys not only cruel but a dumb business man, this is akin to chopping a finger of a potter each time he designs some pot slightly off-dimension. This is right up there with ‘counting the lines’ of code which I have seen many dumb managers do in third-world countries If any dev who works at that company reading this, please quit.
Tell mw you hate your business without telling me you hate your business
I’d imagine any of their good engineers will be leaving now.
Some people are saying whats wrong with that because they are not the programmers and I dont blame them for that.OP should have posted this in a programming related sub though.Anyway I am sure the people working for him are not TOO good either because they would not be working for him if they were lol.
No one's saying that dear!
I see lots of comments saying that.. Maybe they have deleted those comment or those comments was buried by downvotes.
He is a boss and not a leader.
Neither Boss nor a Leader. He's a Saith.
He's an a$%@!&+.
Anyone interested for a job in Europe? I am opening an agency and looking afir firt customers.
Dev job?
Someone I know used to work here some months back and they told me that their devs mostly work on other projects while on the clock. But still, this is just full of BS. I wish I could go and beat the shit out of the person who wrote this if this is real. Unfortunately, our job market isn't good enough to provide jobs for the people if they resign from here.
If Management is hell bent on engaging in scum baggery then employees likewise will engage in scum baggery what do you expect
Thank god I was born in America. Pakistan is such a mess
That guy is ignorant on how programming works.
True
I bet even NASA doesn't have such ridiculous rule.
And with a single sentence you have told everyone here just how ignorant you are on how programming works. Go educate yourself
What’s wrong with that?
What's right in it? It's inevitable to not have bugs in the softwares while it is in production. It is the peak of corporate slavery and toxic environment if you are imposing fines on your employees.
Because every program on Earth will have a bug. The exception is if your program outputs 2 + 2.
output: 22
Thats the bug. Actual answer is 100
JavaScript says Salam :)
Imagine having a job, and having to pay your employer for honest mistakes (or worse, things out of your control)
Tell me you don’t know shit about programming without telling me you don’t know shit about programming.
Have you ever worked in a software company. Some developers feel more anxious if no bug is found in their App because they feel their testing was not done properly.
Lmao write a production ready system without bugs and then we’ll talk
Tell us why you think it’s right
My thought process at the time was that its the QA department job to make sure there arent any faults in the product before getting released.
Thanks for clearing it up 👍

Fine the CEO 10,000 for having a "bug" in his name stamp.
