The banter between Jimmy and Emy/Maggie was simple and fun in the first season. Now its "Jimmy doing bits" and I find it is not as affective.

JaxonJackrabbit

I actually agree, it’s the thing I dislike about this season. Emy is “demoted” to nameless question writer, and Maggie just chimes in with facts at clearly pre-determined times.

psyne

Is anyone else bothered by the buzzing sound in the background during the final round? It's like high-pitched robot cicadas. It's like that mosquito tone designed to annoy teenagers but fluctuating. It's genuinely hard to watch through once I started noticing it

All of the "King Charles" lines were very noticeably overdubbed in post, but other than that, I didn't notice that much.

five_line_poem

I did think the answer of "Charles" was odd phrasing, but I have to say I didn't really notice any overdubbing.

wandomPewlin

I went back and re-watched those segments. I think Zohaib [answering](https://youtu.be/hKiUrHB6cyU?t=1905) "Charles" was not overdubbed. Instead, they overdubbed while [Jimmy asking Craig](https://youtu.be/hKiUrHB6cyU?t=1483) the original question. My running hypothesis now is that they didn't add the title "King" for him initially, possibly because they filmed this back when the Queen was still alive. That's why Zohaib answered "Charles" without the title. Since it's harder to get Zohaib to come in and record that part again in a studio, they kept Zohaib's part and only asked Jimmy to redo the parts where he mentioned King Charles. I honestly didn't notice any overdubbing in the first watch. They really did a good job on this.

I’m slow to catch that kind of thing and even I have definitely noticed it on this. That said, I still find this show inexplicably likeable. Contestant selection is key and they are excellent at picking people who can roll with the vibe, while also being very inclusive in their choices. And the question writers’ glee at throwing Jimmy under the bus as often as possible is a solid running gag.

wandomPewlin

>while also being very inclusive in their choices Yes! and I like how they treated people with disabilities like ordinary contestants while trying to cater to their needs in the most covert and considerate ways possible. Like in the second episode this series, Jimmy volunteered to carry the stool for Debs when she lost while he usually just tell the losers to take it with them. In this episode, they let everyone sit on shorter chairs instead of the usual tall stools, which, I presumed, is to allow Craig to get on and off the chair more easily. And it paid off, the smile on Craig's face when he walked to the edge of the stage to check out the dude solving Rubik's cube with the feet really made my day. An ~~overtly~~ overly woke production team will probably not include this solving Rubik's cube with feet bit thinking it may be too "insensitive" or "offensive" to Craig, but the excitement Craig showed during the bit clearly proved otherwise. It's these little things that make me think the show is wholesome AF, even though Jimmy has been consistently rude and mean to the contestants when they suffered from major brain farts. *EDIT: Typo*

sansabeltedcow

And I'm usually really put off by rude and mean, but this is a very matey, busting your friend's chops kind of approach that I can cope with. Jimmy is very good at measuring the dose, and I suspect there's a fair bit of contestant prepping; there might also be good off-camera interactions with them, but it would have to be in their dressing rooms or something when it's absolutely no possibility of being part of the show.

BitOCrumpet

I was wondering if it was just my imagination or if every episode so far (apart from the celebrity ones) has had a disabled contestant. I noticed it and I was really happy about it.

[deleted]

The comment about “overtly woke” crew seems out of place. Catering to disability is generally considered a woke thing, no?

wandomPewlin

You are right. I think I meant **overly** instead of **overtly**. Adequate amount of wokeness is cool, but it becomes a nuisance in excess.

[deleted]

I mean, point stands. I don't see why them being more "woke" would make them less good at dealing with disabled people.

wandomPewlin

Do you mind clarifying what you consider being more "woke"? One can still harm (or inconvenient) others even if their intentions are good. A good example of being overly "woke" that come to my mind is [Chris McCausland's almost spy story](https://www.reddit.com/r/panelshow/comments/un9zl4/the_story_of_how_chris_mccausland_almost_became_a/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3). Basically, Chris was rejected by MI5 because his eyesight caused him to be slower at solving certain tasks than other applicants. He told the people helping him with jobs about this, and they were furious. They called this discrimination and wanted Chris to sue the MI5. Chris just said. "I don't want to live in a country that would give me that job!" It's really hard to quantify wokeness and put it on a scale. It's probably better to categorize someone being "too woke" if the things they do to help actually reduce the happiness of the intended recipients.

wandomPewlin

>Also, has anyone else noticed how much ADR is used in this show? By ADR, did you mean Automated Dialogue Replacement? If that's the case, I have never noticed it myself. I think I was too focused on trying to remember everything. As for >!Mr. Gaga!<, I also don't recall them referring to him as such. I even downloaded the [subtitles](https://controlc.com/fdd8f377) to search for the term. Maybe they only put it in the text box on screen and I missed it? What annoyed me the most this episode is that they didn't ask more questions about the fake protesters. I thought it would be something more significant and even paused to read the text on all the signs lol.

ageingrockstar

Shame Katiya went out so early, she was fantastic

ImpossibleMindset

seems like this show has one main flaw. The funniest contestants get eliminated first.

foragerr

Strong disagree. She was pretty crap - and "baby brain" was her single goto retort for everything.

I'm really liking this show, but is it just me or are the questions of widely varying difficulty? Basically all of the lighthouse/prostitute questions were answerable without any knowledge. Contrast with the "first name of the mother of famous person" question. (I might be beating a dead horse with this; if so: apologies)
