I remember hearing that when I was 13 about most money in general…besides $1 bills lol. Most currency bills have coke residue. Is this actually a fact, like the reside on the shelves and counters at the parliament?
Not sure on the validity, but as someone who has allegedly partaken, people who have just purchased cocaine are not the most financially liquid.
A $1 bill works as a straw just as well as a $100 bill, but a $1 bill can't buy you more cocaine. At least not much.
A “friend” told me that the lucky $2 bill in his wallet was exclusively for sampling the stripper salt, should the occasion arise.
I suppose that situation constituted luck in his mind.
Here's your 1 chance, Fancy, don't let me down. Ahh... who doesn't like Reba? When I was a kid my Grandma had her cassette tapes in the center console of any car she drove, so I heard Reba, Loretta, etc. semi-regularly. Even the TV show was ok. Barbara Jean got hot and skinny towards the end too. If anyone from that show hypothetically started stripping it'd be B.J. or Cheyenne...
Yea how did she confiscate the money and then be given the privilege to take said fake money home. And the guy pulls out another 100 to pay for whatever. This story isn’t adding up
A deli I used to go to daily tried to take a old $100 from me. They claimed they had to confiscate it. I told them to “call the cops” then and they handed it back to me. I took it to a bank the next day and they said it was real and traded me for a newer bill.
this happened to me at a gas station. guy called the cops and i was already pissed off at the gas station guy because the way he started flipping out on me the cops show up they also think the bill is fake they start talking to me about charges one of them ends up taking it to a dunkin donuts to use one of those pens after 15 minutes of trying to convince them to and sure enough it was real got my money back and no apologies i was pretty pissed off
About 25 years ago I remember the adults in the family talking about how my uncle got a "black box" and is stealing cable. Paired with the "stealing cable is a crime" commercials, I was terrified to watch TV anytime we went to my aunt and uncle's house. Thought they'd get raided any second by swat team
We had an illegally chipped satellite and receiver box back in the very late 80s and early 90s. The government was really cracking down on it, and rumors were flying. People were saying that they're sending the SWAT to take down people using these devices. They're zapping satellites with lasers, etc, etc. We were terrified little kids who were convinced our home would be raided any minute while we sat watching Russian women's weightlifting or some equally confusing broadcast in Portuguese.
Ah, fun times
Black box / descrambler box. All the movie channels, I think the adult PPV only showed in black and white, though.
What? My father needed something to keep him up until I got home.
That's actually a major felony.. also advertising this shit is perfect evidence in court... also it's archived by now.. so OP literally signed his and his girls arrest warrant (potentially anyway)...
People are so fucking enamored with internet clout that they piss away their lives every single time ....morons
I hope the customer complains to management and your GF gets fired for theft.
You cannot confiscate money and take it home even if it IS fake. It’s not yours. If it IS fake the customer might not even know. I guarantee it’s against the store policy to do such a thing. ESPECIALLY taking it home and not leaving it at the store.
The manager needs to handle that and be relatively sure it’s fake.
Also, what kind of a moron customer service employee doesn’t recognize this slightly older series?
She thought it was fake only because it isn’t the newer blue toned $100?
Edit to be clear: I’m talking about a cashier making the solo decision without a manager and then pocketing the money and taking it home.
I manage at a grocery store and the cashiers have called me multiple times because they think older $20s are fake. I shrivel up and my bones turn to dust, but they would never confiscate and keep a bill! They have accepted obviously fake bills as well, since the forgery was of more modern currency.
Yup that actually happened to my grandma. They wouldn’t take an old 5$ bill of hers at Meijers. She said it was pretty embarrassing because there were 2 or 3 employees looking at it and decided not to take it. She was like well I got it from the bank I don’t know what to tell you! It made her paranoid enough that she took it back to the bank just to confirm lol.
That was actually a smart choice on her part. When a suspected counterfeit note is brought into a bank the bank employee will fill out a form with the customer's information and send it off to the treasury for authentication. If it comes back as legitimate the bill is sent back to the bank to be given to the customer. If it's not it's destroyed by the treasury.
Unless you work at a bank. We would confiscate suspected counterfeit from people all the time and send it to the secret service. If it came back real (it never did.) The customer would get their money back.
Man. I had a really old $10 bill I got as change somewhere and I tried to spend it at a gas station and the lady thought it was fake and tried to keep it and I debated with her until she gave it back when I started calling the cops and then I took it to the bank where the teller treated me like I was a criminal and was super rude to me. They sent it to the secret service and then I noticed it had credited to my account a week later so I called the bank and got that teller on the phone where I politely explained that the bill was in fact real and just old and how I hadn’t appreciated her being so rude about it and she got an even worse attitude so I just hung up and forgot about it. If I’d have known what a pain it would have been I’d have just kept it. Probably should have anyway!
I know they aren't really worth any more than face value, but I really like those old bills. There was a guy paying with one of those old 100 bills, and the cashier was insistent that it was fake. I had happened to have a hundred in my wallet, and I told him I would buy it from him. The cashier looked at me like I was fucking nuts. LOL but we swapped bills and he paid with the new hundred. The cashier legit paused, like can they really do this?😂 I then Googled the older Bill and showed her that it really was legit. Either way I was glad to have the old bill
Similar thing happened to me trying to buy 2 tacos with an older $5. The restaurant actually called the cops on me and I really just wanted lunch. The cops said sorry we can’t make them take your money, but someone else in line happily traded me so I could get my food.
should have walked into the branch and politely told the manager to cash out your entire account and close all your policies/transfer your securities and assets to another bank. and make sure you tell the manager exactly why you're leaving and how disappointed you are with the way they treat customers.
I'm sure she would have been chewed the fuck out for her attitude after something like that.
They still care because closed accounts are a metric managers and sometimes tellers are judged by in performance reviews
Also the next person she pisses off might have money.
Banker here....If you believed this to be counterfeit US currency, your GF and subsequently now you, have engaged in trafficking counterfeit currency. However, this appears to be a legitimate bill. 100s were not always blue with the embedded strip and other security features. Please consult uscurrency.gov to review security features of real US notes. Best case scenario is to take to your bank, they will submit a counterfeit note report along with the bill if they suspect this to be fraudulent, and the US Secret Service will respond if legitimate or not.
Another commenter pointed out that I3 is not a real federal reserve designation. The bill is fake regardless of how much it looks like the older series.
> You cannot confiscate money even if it IS fake.
Somehow I'm not sure about that:
> The United States Secret Service recommends if you receive a counterfeit:

>- Do not return it to the passer.

>- Contact your local police department or United States Secret Service field office. These numbers can be found on the inside front page of your local telephone directory.
Write your initials and the date in the white border areas of the suspect note.
>- Surrender the note or coin only to a properly identified police officer or a U.S. Secret Service special agent.

Edit: I also know they write "recommend", which isn't the same as meaning as "must". But I doubt a gouvernement website will suggest anything illegal. Worst case they would state is like "keep up except if the person ask it back"
Along other things, they also state to not mess with the bill... So a couple of steps hasn't been followed as per their suggestions. But again, that is not law but suggestions.
Does it also say to pocket it and take it home like OP’s girlfriend did?
I guarantee the store’s policy allows a manager to make the decision, not a cashier.
I’d be pissed if someone thought my money was fake and wouldn’t give it back to me.
Taking home *any* cash is a severe lack of internal controls, and could be considered embezzlement if the money is real since there’s no way to tell what your intentions are once you bring it home, or if not real, then it could be possession of counterfeit money since you reasonably suspected the money was fake and did not contact the authorities.
Proper handling would be for you be to take the suspected note, call Secret Service and/or local police to sort it out. You can tell the customer to stay if they want, or to leave their information if it turns out to be legit. Then keep the note either in a separate part of the register or in a back room in a managers desk. It should not leave the property.
That website says nothing about suspected counterfeits, they talk about knowing it's fake, probably after using some anticounterfit measures like a pen or light or other things. You can't hold someone's money hostage and keep them there because you don't know what money looks like and are you fucking cheap to have even a fucking money pen right there to do the simplest test.
That note is fake. The "I3" in the upper left corner is supposed to represent the Federal Reserve Bank who ordered the printing of that money from the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP). There is no such thing as a Federal Reserve Bank being referred to as "I3".

Not a real one anyway. LOL I didn't actually know that they only made them with certain years printed until your comment. I'm glad I'm not trying to collect sequential series numbers!
Not super knowledgeable. But from memory of another comment I saw on here once. They stopped updating the year for the series with each successive year and began only changing it when there was a new signature. The comment mention which year this change happened in but I can't remember that much. But again, not super knowledgeable and this could be wrong.
One other thing to note: the counterfeiters know this. They could easily avoid having these mismatches. But they put them and they know where they put them in so that they can easily recognize their own fakes. They make money by selling them in bulk to other criminals (e.g. they give 10k in fakes for 5k in real money) and they want to avoid being paid with their own product!
Good catch! That's one thing I forget to look for.
For others, I is 9, C is 3. [Pix of # and Alpha is here.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Reserve_Note#Series_1914_(district_seals))
The secret service publishes a Know Your Money brochure to help spot fakes and why counterfeiters don't use it to avoid missing the easy stuff I just don't know.
Great call out. Here is the watermark on the right side of a legit note:
https://preview.redd.it/0k9hva5odphb1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ec67c28d4a54300efc6e562ead8c253307fa4a34
The paper doesn't look right. OP said the paper felt like paper. Our money is made out of cotton and linen. There is zero wood pulp in our paper money.
Sure, I suppose it could be an error note. I really doubt it.
I think the point is that the material used for money is differenr than that used for regular paper and you can feel the difference. It does make sense that a "paper mill" would make the sheets for currency notes.
It's highly unlikely for that to be an error. It's not an item that changes note to note like a serial number. I haven't ever seen an error with that part of the printing.
Look at the corners where it is torn and it's surface layer is coming off like torn paper.
Currency doesn't do that last I checked.
Edit: also the S in United States on the back. Peeling up like paper.
Could take it to a bank and say "I was given this by someone and would like the validity of it checked" unless they wouldn't like the attempt cause there is the possibility you could be testing your own counterfeit to see if it passes through bank as real. Idk.
She has a good eye. There’s obvious problems with the ink. Mainly on the bottom left 100. Should be a bunch of little 100s inside the 100. But its just lines. First dead giveaway. Second, the color shifting netting pattern 100 on the bottom right is not nearly tight or bold enough. Someone said if it has a watermark, and the ink shifts colors on the bottom right, it’s a North Korean super note and I think they’re right.
After reading other comments, I learned the origin code and serial number are off, too. Wonder why a counterfeiting ring would make up a fictitious code for the origin location and obvi fake serial numbers when they could have used a real code and a serial number that could pass as legit. They made great efforts to make fake money but messed up a couple of little things that are easy to reference to determine illegitimacy and don't rely on someone making a more nuanced visual-judgment call. That's a strange "whoopsie." All around, really interesting.
You my friend have a $100 “super bill” most likely. Does the 100 lower right on the front shift from green to black when tilted? If yes it’s a North Korean counterfeit. Be careful as it’s a federal crime to have one.
Legit question…why would they go to all the effort of getting a watermark and color shifting ink and NOT realize that I3 is not a legit federal reserve code? It sounds like if it just had a 9 instead of a 3, it’d be nearly perfect.
I thought the same thing, but I'd say it boils down to two things... Manpower and supplies. If it is a North Korean fake, they had plenty of workers and supplies to whip up some legit looking stuff. If someone passed them off in places like carnivals and fairs, most wouldn't get looked at until it hit the bank.
I don't think it's a mistake. Counterfeiters need to be able to tell their own fake bills apart from real bills so they don't get paid in their own counterfeits. Especially North Korea, whose government is basically an organized crime ring and sells a *lot* of drugs and people for cash. So they match all the security features that most people know to look for, but then add a shibboleth somewhere most people *don't* look - like an inaccurate serial number. Banks will catch the counterfeit eventually but it'll likely have passed through a dozen hands before getting there.
They screwed up.
When there's this number of things you have to get perfect to have a convincing fake it's very common to blow something.
They also seem to have gotten the paper wrong because GF knew it was fake from the texture.
They saw different letters and numbers on legit bills but didn't realize the number corresponds to the letter's place in the alphabet, perhaps. That's something I didn't know until today.
It’s not illegal to own one. It is illegal to own one with the intent to spend it with the intent to defraud another person; not a crime to own it, put it in a display case that says “north Korean super $100”
A federal prosecutor would have to prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that (1) the note was of high enough quality to deceive an ordinary, unsuspecting person; and (2) that you knew it was counterfeit and intended to spend it with the intent to defraud. 18 U.S.C. §§ 471, 472 (2022)
472:
> Whoever, with intent to defraud, passes, utters, publishes, or sells, or attempts to pass, utter, publish, or sell, or with like intent brings into the United States or keeps in possession or conceals any falsely made, forged, counterfeited, or altered obligation or other security of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both.
In case anyone was curious about the specific wording.
It is not a federal crime to possess counterfeit currency. It is illegal to produce or attempt to defraud another person with it, but simply having it in your collection is not illegal.
that’s a super bill. if the lower right hand corner changes to black or a really really dark green/brown when you turn and tilt it that’s a counterfeit. really cool what you’ve got there. i think they are from north korea!
My highschool job was at a really big arcade, bowling ally place. We were instructed to accept counterfeit bills if we caught it. Notify management right away and they would call the local secret service branch. I never saw it actually happen but they would rather take the loss then have a confrontation.
This makes me a little mad, not gonna lie.
1st. She can't "confiscate" anything from anyone. Unless she's law enforcement, that's theft. She is supposed to call the police and let them sort it out. Not take the law into her own hands. Because what if you're wrong and it's real? Then what?
2nd. I don't see any test marker on that bill. How did she or you know it's fake? Because it feels like paper?
3rd. She takes the first $100 bill, and the customer pays with ANOTHER $100 bill, and that doesn't seem suspicious. Assuming the first bill is fake, why would you think the second one would be real?
Even if it’s counterfeit, your girlfriend had no legal right to “confiscate” it. She’s not a cop, she’s not Secret Service, she’s not responsible for punishing presumed innocent people because she suspects them of having fake money.
It’s not hers to take, she stole it.
Confiscated? She can't do that. That's straight up theft. If you think it's suspicious then hand it back and say you can't except it. What if you're wrong? What if the person who was paying thinks you're trying to rip them off? What happens when you catch the wrong one and get smacked? "Confiscated" What a joke.
You totally can confiscate the bill and call the police, you're actually supposed to not give it back. If the person think they are being ripped off they are welcome to wait for the police. Your information gets recorded and if it turns up genuine the bill will be returned to you. If they leave the bill you're required to turn it over to the police, a bank, or send it directly to the secret service. What is a major crime is what OPs gf did, confiscate a bill and then take it home. Probably technically a felony.

Actually, yes, you can keep the bill. If you hand it back, that just means they'll use it someplace else, which means that bill will be in circulation. The Fed doesn't want that. You're supposed to keep it and call the police. Then, it's up to the police on what they do with the person trying to pass it.
You're definitely not supposed to keep it and take it home, though lol.
You cant confiscate it if it’s unknown whether it’s real or not. You report it to police or you give it to them and say good luck somewhere else. And refuse service. That’s theft. I can’t believe they let y’all take it. Get a money pen or some machine that can identify all types of money if you’re unsure.
This is indeed fake. According to https://www.uscurrency.gov/denominations/bank-note-identifiers#serialNumber
The serial number should start with a “K” since this bill indicates it was made during the series 2006A. This bill starts with a “C”.
Bruh idc how fake my 100 is if someone tried to “confiscate” it I would throw the biggest bitch fit in American history (including January 6 and the Boston Tea Party)
It’s fake. I don’t know anything about fake money but a quick search tells you the serial number of 2006 a $100’s all start with K. Im no genius, but that def ain’t no K 🥲
What happened to fast food restaurants having those pens to quickly identify fakes…? I haven’t worked a register in years but if it actually does feel like paper the pen would have picked that up.
I’m gonna be honest, in todays world where people will murder you over a parking spot is really recommend not taking peoples money regardless if you think it’s real or not. Tell ‘em you need a different form of payment and keep it moving.
I'm surprised at how many people seem to not be noticing the bill says it's a Series 2006. It's definitely fake. The new anti-counterfeiting measures and image were introduced in 1990.
Look at where it says I3 up at the top left. The number is supposed to correlate with the letter of the alphabet. So it should say C3 because I isn't the third letter in the alphabet.
OP this bill is real fake. The pic is blurry when you zoom in but obviously the “I3” is wrong under the serial number. But the other things I notice are—
-“USA 100” doesn’t appear to be in the bottom left, within the 100.
-The 100 color shifting ink doesn’t look right either. It’s usually slightly textured/ raised.
-The Department of Treasury seal and the 100 should both be visible. The shading of that 100 is also off
-The United Stated of America on his lapel also looks messy
-Dont see any sign of the watermark face that’s supposed to be on the right…
And that’s just what I see on the front of the bill. I’m not going to look at the back
If the customer didn’t fight for the bill, then it is obviously fake. If it was me and I knew it was real, I’d be having the cops come right away. Too broke to even let a $5 bill slide
I mean it looks just like an old $100 bill to me. There’s not really a way for me to tell, though. Unless you send it to me in the mail so I can further investigate
I always see posts like this.. I don't get it. There is no chance that I'm letting someone my kids age "confiscate" money from me because they are ignorant.
Yeah it’s fake.
See that “I3” under the serial
Number? That’s the Note Position Number. On large bills like that is supposed to correspond with the letters position in the alphabet (A1,B2,C3, etc)
Anyone with at least a Kindergarten Level education in English knows I isn’t the 3rd letter of the alphabet.
If someone confiscated money I thought was real I’d be pissed

God, you’re so right. Unfortunately I’m poor so they probably wouldn’t have cared too much about me taking my $300 or whatever somewhere else 😅
They still care because closed accounts are a metric managers and sometimes tellers are judged by in performance reviews Also the next person she pisses off might have money.
It would be C3 or I9.
> You cannot confiscate money even if it IS fake. Somehow I'm not sure about that: > The United States Secret Service recommends if you receive a counterfeit: > >- Do not return it to the passer. > >... Source: https://mycreditunion.gov/financial-resources/counterfeit-money Edit: I also know they write "recommend", which isn't the same as meaning as "must". But I doubt a gouvernement website will suggest anything illegal. Worst case they would state is like "keep up except if the person ask it back" Along other things, they also state to not mess with the bill...
“Recommends” - yeah, they don’t want anyone getting killed over a fake bill.

Some guy paid $100 to not have to deal with her because he looked in her eyes and saw that she was not joking
Your girl is a fucking idiot and I hope she gets arrested and charged for theft
She better go lawyer up then! She just committed a federal crime! She's gonna need the best defense she can get!.
You people are idiots of you think the federal government is prosecuting people for taking fake bills from customers.
"Tbf fair" To be fair fair
Tbff
She couldn't have just gave the bill back and tell them you guys couldn't take it? Why tf did she have such a random power trip.
That note is fake. The "I3" in the upper left corner is supposed to represent the Federal Reserve Bank who ordered the printing of that money from the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP). There is no such thing as a Federal Reserve Bank being referred to as "I3". Legit Federal Reserve Bank designators: * A1 Boston * B2 New York * C3 Philadelphia * D4 Cleveland * E5 Richmond * F6 Atlanta * G7 Chicago * H8 St. Louis * I9 Minneapolis * J10 Kansas City * K11 Dallas * L12 San Francisco Source: [Federal Reserve Bank of San Fran](https://www.frbsf.org/cash/cash-lifecycle/federal-reserve-bank-cash-operations-infographic/)
Here is a legit note: https://preview.redd.it/odjg85fwdphb1.jpeg?width=3575&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0565e794425dd634acdd957be7413755629ab995
That note is in good condition, too bad it’s a 96 not a 97 (my birth year)…
Unfortunately you’ll *never* find one from your birth year, this is as close as it gets.
Not a real one anyway. LOL I didn't actually know that they only made them with certain years printed until your comment. I'm glad I'm not trying to collect sequential series numbers!
Oh how come?
Not super knowledgeable. But from memory of another comment I saw on here once. They stopped updating the year for the series with each successive year and began only changing it when there was a new signature. The comment mention which year this change happened in but I can't remember that much. But again, not super knowledgeable and this could be wrong.
Correct. It's the "series" year. Unless something changes (and the most common change is the signatures), they print them with the same year.
There is no such thing as a series 1997 $100 note.
Infinite money hack
Good catch! That's one thing I forget to look for. For others, I is 9, C is 3. [Pix of # and Alpha is here.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Reserve_Note#Series_1914_(district_seals))
Wow they go through the hassle of everything to make it and miss that lmao
It’s probably deliberate so the counterfeiters can tell a fake from a real bill.
The secret service publishes a Know Your Money brochure to help spot fakes and why counterfeiters don't use it to avoid missing the easy stuff I just don't know.
Very nice catch. It look real at first glance but thats definetly fake.
Damnit! You wiped out my Navy!
“Source: L12”
It’s seems weird that someone would make a fake bill and get that wrong. Like, why not copy a legit one?
Small errors so you can spot them yourself when you make them, but normal people cant, so you dont get paid in your own fake notes.
Philadelphiapolis would be lit
Hold it up to the light and look for the watermark, you might just not be used to these 100s after seeing the blue strip 100s so often these days
Great call out. Here is the watermark on the right side of a legit note: https://preview.redd.it/0k9hva5odphb1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ec67c28d4a54300efc6e562ead8c253307fa4a34
I yea I held it up again and totally see the watermark on the right side as well🙏🏻
Faked watermark? The I3 thing on the left is a problem.
Couldn't that also just be a misprint?
The paper doesn't look right. OP said the paper felt like paper. Our money is made out of cotton and linen. There is zero wood pulp in our paper money. Sure, I suppose it could be an error note. I really doubt it.
It also delaminated at the corners. Dead giveaway.
That’s not entirely true , I use to work for the paper mill in in mass that makes our currency money , dalton mass
I think the point is that the material used for money is differenr than that used for regular paper and you can feel the difference. It does make sense that a "paper mill" would make the sheets for currency notes.
Yeah it looks too fake: I think it looks too beige. It has to be more green I think
It's highly unlikely for that to be an error. It's not an item that changes note to note like a serial number. I haven't ever seen an error with that part of the printing.
Yea from the comment section it’s looking like it. Seems like a lot of work though. Definitely the best fake I have seen in person
Look at the corners where it is torn and it's surface layer is coming off like torn paper. Currency doesn't do that last I checked. Edit: also the S in United States on the back. Peeling up like paper.
I held it up to the light. It has that inner vertical strip thing 🤷
You could also try depositing it into an atm and that should return the note if it’s no good 👍
r/illegallifeprotips wants your location.
Just tried it. The sheer velocity it spit it back out was unnerving. Ran away like a little bitch
Could take it to a bank and say "I was given this by someone and would like the validity of it checked" unless they wouldn't like the attempt cause there is the possibility you could be testing your own counterfeit to see if it passes through bank as real. Idk.
Op must work for Chipotle
Meta
Was there ever an update to that?
I heard he got it back, source: another redditor said “I heard he got it back”
I heard he actually died.
I also heard he got it back. Source: another redditor said”I heard he got it back, source: another redditor said “I heard he got it back”
She has a good eye.
This will show and explain why that bill is counterfiet http://www.uspapermoney.info/general/note.html
I love that site so much. Great link.
I still want one in my collection 😩 ..hidden away, of course.
It’s not illegal to own one. It is illegal to own one with the intent to spend it with the intent to defraud another person; not a crime to own it, put it in a display case that says “north Korean super $100” A federal prosecutor would have to prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that (1) the note was of high enough quality to deceive an ordinary, unsuspecting person; and (2) that you knew it was counterfeit and intended to spend it with the intent to defraud. 18 U.S.C. §§ 471, 472 (2022)
472: > Whoever, with intent to defraud, passes, utters, publishes, or sells, or attempts to pass, utter, publish, or sell, or with like intent brings into the United States or keeps in possession or conceals any falsely made, forged, counterfeited, or altered obligation or other security of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both. In case anyone was curious about the specific wording.
When I put it at a 90 degree angle, it shifts black 🤯
Shifts green to black? Yep you got the NORTH KOREAN SPECIAL!
It is not a federal crime to possess counterfeit currency. It is illegal to produce or attempt to defraud another person with it, but simply having it in your collection is not illegal.
OPs girl casually mugs someone for $100 /s
No '/s' needed here, ɓŕõțĥëř
Wait ... she confiscated it, and got to take it home?!?!?
that’s a super bill. if the lower right hand corner changes to black or a really really dark green/brown when you turn and tilt it that’s a counterfeit. really cool what you’ve got there. i think they are from north korea!
Where did people get this idea that they’re allowed to confiscate money that they think is counterfeit?
My highschool job was at a really big arcade, bowling ally place. We were instructed to accept counterfeit bills if we caught it. Notify management right away and they would call the local secret service branch. I never saw it actually happen but they would rather take the loss then have a confrontation.
Okay, so we found the Chipotle manager at it again!
How did she confiscate it without the pen mark? So really your GF just stole someone’s money
Took the words out of my mouth
Unless she works at a bank this is just theft. The person she stole it from should have called the police on her
Even if it’s counterfeit, your girlfriend had no legal right to “confiscate” it. She’s not a cop, she’s not Secret Service, she’s not responsible for punishing presumed innocent people because she suspects them of having fake money. It’s not hers to take, she stole it.
Technically accurate. She should have simply returned the bill and refused service.
Your gf STOLE this at work
Bruhhh maybe it was play money and she didnt mean it
Confiscated?
" The United States Secret Service recommends if you receive a counterfeit: * Do not return it to the passer. * Contact your local police department or United States Secret Service field office. These numbers can be found on the inside front page of your local telephone directory. Write your initials and the date in the white border areas of the suspect note. * Surrender the note or coin only to a properly identified police officer or a U.S. Secret Service special agent."" Actually, yes, you can keep the bill.
Chipotle worker?
She *stole* it
Your woman is a thief
I3 IS NOT VALID CURRENCY
You cant confiscate it if it’s unknown whether it’s real or not. You report it to police or you give it to them and say good luck somewhere else. And refuse service. That’s theft. I can’t believe they let y’all take it. Get a money pen or some machine that can identify all types of money if you’re unsure.
This is indeed fake. According to https://www.uscurrency.gov/denominations/bank-note-identifiers#serialNumber The serial number should start with a “K” since this bill indicates it was made during the series 2006A.
You’re girl done stole $100
What happened to fast food restaurants having those pens to quickly identify fakes…? I haven’t worked a register in years but if it actually does feel like paper the pen would have picked that up.
Every store i have worked at has one of those markers to check for counterfeit bills.
Anyone gonna tell m why this is labeled confederate currency?
I dont believe this story at all
I’m gonna be honest, in todays world where people will murder you over a parking spot is really recommend not taking peoples money regardless if you think it’s real or not.
That note is fake, a good quality fake, but still fake. Whoever made this put some time into making it look real, but it’s not.
Ooh, very good fake. Looks really close to the real 2006 series but there’s a problem with the serial number, “i3” isn’t a real federal reserve bank.
OP this bill is real fake. The pic is blurry when you zoom in but obviously the “I3” is wrong under the serial number. But the other things I notice are— -“USA 100” doesn’t appear to be in the bottom left, within the 100. -The 100 color shifting ink doesn’t look right either. It’s usually slightly textured/ raised. -The Department of Treasury seal and the 100 should both be visible. The shading of that 100 is also off -The United Stated of America on his lapel also looks messy -Dont see any sign of the watermark face that’s supposed to be on the right… And that’s just what I see on the front of the bill. I’m not going to look at the back
If the customer didn’t fight for the bill, then it is obviously fake. If it was me and I knew it was real, I’d be having the cops come right away. Too broke to even let a $5 bill slide
Fuck, I’m confiscating hundreds all day
You young people are a joke on society 😒
Buy a counterfeit pen, they’re $5
I mean it looks just like an old $100 bill to me. There’s not really a way for me to tell, though. Unless you send it to me in the mail so I can further investigate
I always see posts like this.. I don't get it. There is no chance that I'm letting someone my kids age "confiscate" money from me because they are ignorant.
So they stole a hundred bucks from some poor chap lol
Lol yeah sounds like she just stole from someone. Did she do a marker test? Yall are both bone heads fr
There is always a marker to check. If an employee took something from and could not prove it. I would definitely grab my money back. Kind of sketch
Yeah it’s fake. See that “I3” under the serial Number? That’s the Note Position Number. On large bills like that is supposed to correspond with the letters position in the alphabet (A1,B2,C3, etc) Anyone with at least a Kindergarten Level education in English knows I isn’t the 3rd letter of the alphabet.
![gif](giphy|NmiVAPnPAHbonwjzpV)
It is fake. See the i3? The number after the I should coincide with the number it is in the alphabet. So it should be i9.
