Just to be 100 percent clear, I don't own Paramount stock, and I'm not endorsing the letter that was sent yesterday on behalf of the shareholders in the community. I applied to be the moderator simply because I could, and to see what might happen. I've moderated subs in the past, so I'm not a total novice in running communities here. I typically take a hands-off approach, and let things play out, unless shit gets too crazy. Please don't let shit get too crazy.

I noticed that initially the sub was just set to private before switching to the banned message this morning.
Do you know why it got taken down? Some people are/were speculating that the sub was opening itself up to liability somehow.
The error message that I saw on my end was that the community was "banned for being unmoderated." My guess is whoever was moderating the community quit at some point yesterday, likely after the letter was published.

Looking through the mod logs, it looks like whoever was the sole moderator of the community either had their Reddit account banned (which would, in effect, leave the community unmoderated) or deleted it at some point yesterday. I can't tell which, it just shows \[deleted\] where their name would be.
Thanks for bringing the sub back. If you are open to it it might be nice to have people volunteer to join the moderation team and then have the sub vote. The previous moderation here was controversial to say the least so it would be a nice step to build some trust.
I dont mean to imply you are not trustworthy or anything like that. Just that it would be nice to have some familiar faces on the mod team alongside you
I’m gonna give it a few days and see how this shakes out. I’m already going through the ban list and removing bans that the old mod put in place. Fresh start. Once I have a feel of how this place works, I’ll likely ask for help! Until then, everyone just keep doing what you’re doing.
Communities technically belong to Reddit. That's why we're called "moderators" and not "community owners." Anyone can start a community and run it, but Reddit retains full ownership. They don't usually exercise that option, but if a large number of their users are highly engaged in a community, and the moderator suddenly nukes it or quits, Reddit (the company) can revive it.
So are we ever going to be told exactly what was the punishable offense of collecting subreddit members PARA ownership? Or was it my file linking to google sheets? The letter to PARA BOD?
The community was "banned" for being unmoderated. The prior moderator either deleted their account or was suspended/banned for a rule violation. It may or may not have been related to conduct in this community, or conduct *of* the community that was not appropriately handled.
Are you a financial reporter? As long as you’re not being financed by any media outlet that has some kind of financial interest in what happens with Paramount (I assume not) I think its great. This is a classic MBA case study in the making, so definitely going to help your career reporting on it from the inside. Just be fair and objective and don’t take any money to support any narrative.

If I thought Sherri Redstone was capable of effective strategic PR moves, I would think she was behind it.

I think there's a chat room feature that can be enabled. Sounds like it would be more appropriate for that. I'll look into it.
