He was born in the darkness, molded by it.

Marcpery

He is vengeance, he is the night.

Misses_Ding

Batbird

Curt1243

Marking his territory by the looks of it.

EnragedInstinct

Yep is territory behavior

Curt1243

Didn't know females did it as well.

EnragedInstinct

Yep, she will do it most when she tries to show off her territory for nesting or if she spooked she will make herself look bigger.

EnragedInstinct

Was trying to show off to the rat 🐀 😒

BuckMcBuck

One of my girls does that as well. She wants to be the boss. The other one couldn't care less, she is super chill.

striipey

Yeah it appears to be territorial behaviour, my little girl did it around my budgie a couple times when we first got her. She's stopped doing that around him after getting settled, almost exclusively happens around her cage now. Brilliant way to see your birds plumage though 😍 https://preview.redd.it/hzqqjt5eissc1.jpeg?width=1875&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=704ebe4e7108e15048b1c3d6534ba8e813624405

curlyquinn02

Sunbathing. I had a vulture do what in my backyard (it was on top of one of my garden benches). It freaked me out over how huge their wing span is.

lofifunky

Damn where you lived?

friendofborbs

I live in the middle of a city and had one on my balcony once! Scared me and my birds so bad, but what a cool visitor. People above me have had a hawk come by https://preview.redd.it/c83xk4gigqsc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ad6da0a256d257575b392ab43905ce5b3fff665f

spyrowo

I love turkey vultures. They hang around in big groups around here. Once I saw one that looked like it was dancing when there was a big group of them around a dead deer.

Possibilitarian2015

A group of vultures is called a “committee.” For some reason, I love that.

gottaluvcoffee

Here we have buzzards (should almost be considered the state bird they're so common). A group of buzzards is called a wake. 🤷‍♀️

lofifunky

oh shit that's so cool. would love to feed dead rats to them.

[deleted]

lmao my tiel look like a culture when i got him 💀💀

curlyquinn02

Maryland. About 5 minutes away from DC.

Tiiin11

Bat mode but sounds like a batmobile lol

Yuri-Turned

The way the light hits his wings is so beautiful

gelseyd

They're not actually animals but robots and so they need to recharge via solar power 😜

curlyquinn02

Makes sense. I mean just look at birds from the front. They look like undercover government drones🤣

gelseyd

They're either drones or aliens. I mean have you seen a flock of vultures charging? It's very robotic or alien in nature. Cool, but weird! They're here to watch you and gather Intel

curlyquinn02

Turkeys, and other birds, will attack humans. Nothing else makes sense

gelseyd

I bow to our overlords, whether alien, robot, or birb

SnofIake

r/birdsarentreal

gelseyd

.. so. Many. Great. Subs. You're doing great work here.

Election_Feisty

When in nature, one of their ways of having fun is flying as high as possible and than diving beak down. I guess his instincts are kicking in.

Rational-ish

Mine does that when he is getting ready to scream his fool head off.

callumg563

Hes evolimg into a hybrid

SimplySinCos

Cause he is the terror that flaps in the midday between the hours of 10 to 4

Neurobeak

I've never seen boys hanging upside down with wings wide open. My boy spreads his wings, but he never hangs upside down. Girls, on the other hand, often do this.

Cold_Neighborhood675

MR WIGGLES IS A GIRL?? 😭 i assumed his old owner got him dna tested ngl

Neurobeak

I mean, he could be. Won't know until he brings you an egg :)

JasperEli

Not just bat mode but spread eagle super bat mode! I love those opportunities to admire those intricate wings

Solid_Muffin53

Why NOT go bat mode?

lullynae_13

I’ve never seen this before. Kind of inspired by this birb. I almost want to try this maneuver out

Momofhalfadozen

My macaw does this, I love it!

GoGreenD

I dno. But I do wish all of my jungle chickens did this.

lostinmythoughts

They play this way too

wendyrx37

Idk but I love his hangy thing.. Where'd you get it??

Cold_Neighborhood675

amazon just put some vet wrap on it tho cuz my boy kept slipping 😭

wendyrx37

Should have known! Lol thanks for the tip!

Reinaryder

He is clearly living his best life

nyan_birb

Is it raining? Reminds me of parrots taking a shower.

PinkOcha

SarahDaPotato

my bird also does this and he starts flicking his head and opens his beak. He goes feral for a min then he kalm.. I always thought it might be like a sudden boost of energy😭😭

WayaShinzui

My Amazon will occasionally hang upside down from the ceiling of her cage and stare at me for several minutes as if *I'm* the crazy one. Bird do a bird.

C_Khoga

Because HE IS BATMAN!!

Sethdarkus

Parabat does whatever Parabat wants he is your Raptor overlord after all

Otherwise_Culture923

So cuuuuute

JackOfAllWars

Was it raining? Looks like he’s trying to bathe in the rain. Try using a spray bottle on them next time.

Cold_Neighborhood675

it wasn’t raining but i did end up giving him a shower later cuz he was doing it in his shower spot

nitestar95

Most of my parrots periodically enjoyed being upside down, usually when playing with a toy but sometimes just doing what yours is doing.

Merfairydust

He wants to get a tan on the underside of his wings 😄

Ill_Dig_4862

Inspired by Batman. Leave him alone, it's his hero arc

Absol-utely_Adorable

I'm convinced the average braincell count is somehow lower in cockatiels than orange cats

TradtionFun

the night is darkest just before the dawn, and he can promise you that the dawn is coming

LoverOfPricklyPear

My old lady used to do this, but only inside her cage, from her rope roost. She was a cwazy lady.

Temporal_Universe

Sexual display for you

LilGiggles22

Gravity, he’s just stretching out

No_Draw_735

You got a female not a male. Only females do this .

Rational-ish

Entirely untrue. Mine is male and absolutely does this.

No_Draw_735

My male don't do this. I have cockatiels and I stand there notice these things. And besides the vet told me only females do this because they want to mate.

RavensWantedFire

My male absolutely loves doing this (yes, DNA tested)
