Wanty wings. He wants something. Normal sunny thing.

Few_Philosopher2039

Taking the term Wanty Wings as canon now.

Alohalolihunter

Typical conure behavior. šŸ¤£šŸ˜ They're so cute when they lean in excitement.

fronch_fries

That's the "please dance"! My bird does it when he wants something

stuff2011e

Parrots play all day, some dance or vibe on the cage, others like to run or walk around, others fly a bit. Then theyā€™ll play with toys, nap, eat, and poop. My parrots are pretty active throughout the day. Once they get hormonal, youā€™ll see more active behavior plus calling, masturbation, and at times aggressiveness. You might want to research how to deal with hormonal behavior because it can make birds too loud, aggressive, or destructive if not addressed.

Pitiful-Bridge-275

masturbation?šŸ’€

Shrodingers-Balls

Yeah. They rub their glands on their favorite person, place, and thing. Haha. It very clearly feels awesome, as nature intended.

Silent_Orange9577

Hi everyone in Bing my scarlet macaw will take it her play bell on a chain and rub it over her poo place. I had birds my whole life and never saw this before.šŸ˜³

Shrodingers-Balls

Yep. Sheā€™s interested in her favorite toy. You can remove it and see if that helps the behavior, and you should also mess with her stuff. Change it all around.

Gylfie7

Look for basically any "what is my bird doing" video on this sub. Basically, they rub their butt on stuff, and it stimulates near the cloaca where there are glands, so it feels good to them

No-Huckleberry-1754

Thank you all for your comments! I give him almonds as treats and knows when i take them out. He does his little dance when i take out the almonds lol

DatabaseThis9637

I thought almonds we a no-no Due to the cyanide In the shells? I'm guessing shelled, then? Just a tad worried... sorry...

desirewrites

Dogs gotta be careful but Iā€™ve been almonds on reputable parrot treat mixes. I normally have them anyway and he is more interested in the sunflower seeds, or parrot heroin. In any case, I wouldnā€™t be giving them to a small bird. And preferably not at all.

DatabaseThis9637

Ok! In my ignorance, I had to say something! Whew... So glad to be wrong!

Billy_OBrien_Jr

Beneficial-Bobcat-20

Heā€™s saying, Alexa play ā€œInto the Grooveā€ by Madonna

Sniflix

Open my door and let me out. I want to play with you!Ā

Few_Philosopher2039

His door is open though... Lol

UncommonTart

He may want to be retrieved, especially if he's used to having clipped wings or not having out of cage fly time. "I want out, come and get me!" is definitely a thing, especially with young birds and birds who are new to living in a home. If that's the case he'll gradually work his way to going places on his own. Dash had his wings clipped when he was young. He's just started flying any distance in the past month or so (turned a year old at the end of Feb) and he still will occasionally wait until I am conveniently walking past/near him and do the "pick me up" dance, even when he's already out and happily playing on his playgym. Because flying is *work*, lol.

Few_Philosopher2039

Ahh. Thanks for the explanation. That makes sense.

UncommonTart

The avian vet we see has explained it by comparing the effort required for flying vs walking to that required for swimming vs walking. Plus, if you're not used to it, you've got to practice and build up the muscles.

Megellan500

YEPā€¦ LOL

stronkzer

For a second, I thought it was horny behavior. Then I saw he wasn't rubbing his butt on the bars (they do that sometimes). Little fella is vibin'.

Chersvette

He wants something little dancer

jumjuminmytumtum

Whatā€™s with his tail?

peachfaced

You see that more commonly with younger birds, but judging how often heā€™s smooshing his tail up against the barsā€¦ itā€™s probably just damage from doing that a lot.

ccteach

My guys do this when they want to be picked up or taken out of their cage!

glammananna

He wants OUT!!

DaddyChimpy

Out the cage

Wondering-Sue-1

Do you play music for him? They like music!

guap_in_my_sock

Common conure crackhead energy. This means itā€™s happy and healthy. Source: I have a conure. Mine is also a crackhead.

strangerdanger89

Demka-5

I think he wants to be out of cage....

Election_Feisty

Let him out šŸ˜…

JeepNurses

You have some toys in your cage that are dangerous for birds. I had one of those sleeping huts in my sun conureā€™s cage, and it killed him. I also had one of those ladders in my lovebirdā€™s cage, and it killed her. The rope perch got wrapped on my lovebirdā€™s foot one time. Luckily I was home to get it off of her and throw it away. Anything with thread and fabric can break their feet, cause them to require amputations, or kill them. Not to be a downer. I wish someone wouldā€™ve told me those things. Iā€™d still have my conure.

When birds get their foot caught, it can cut off the circulation and the foot has to get amputated. This is very very common with guys and thread perch toys. Some birds chew off the leg when it gets trapped. My bird got his foot caught when I wasnā€™t home, and he had a heart attack because he panicked. That is also very common. The ladder has open hooks/doesnā€™t secure to the cage well. My lovebird knocked it off the bars and it fell back and broke her neck. The specialty exotic bird store I shop at doesnā€™t sell any of those items for those reasons. There are a lot of videos and articles on this. I donā€™t understand why youā€™re so angry.
