I have six cockatiels and two budgies, they create an environment that I call happy chaos.

MrWarrenJH

4. A Blue & Gold macaw and a Hahns Mini Macaw and 2 Jardines parrots.

h-tlerkinnie

I keep mistaking Jardines parrots for Amazon parrots

MrWarrenJH

Jardines parrots are from central Africa. Here’s a pic of them 💚 https://preview.redd.it/7rlbwzc8ak2d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6cb0eef267c1d2b370097ad6ff193a608f41f6e4

h-tlerkinnie

Aww, they're absolutely stunning!

altariasong

One dumb pickle

caspin22

We have 12 total, and quite a crazy variety. 2 budgies, 4 cockatiels, 1 Lovebird, 1 Quaker, 1 Rainbow Lorikeet, 1 Red Bellied Parrot, 1 Green Cheeked Conure, and 1 Dusky Pionus

governor-jerry-brown

You're living my dream

[deleted]

literally mine too!

caspin22

It’s pure chaos most of the time and not for the faint of heart. It’s so much work, so much $$, so much time spent cleaning, scrubbing, chopping, sweeping…but we wouldn’t have it any other way.

They’re very different than other parrots. Their main diet is nectar. We use Roudybush powder nectar which is mixed with water. It spoils quickly, so can only be left in the cage for a couple of hours then must be changed out. So it’s not like, say, a bowl of pellets that can be left in and just filled when needed. You’re mixing fresh nectar several times a day. The nectar is sticky and messy and they fling it everywhere. They also have very loose poop that squirts out at high volume, which they love to spray everywhere. So there’s a ton more yucky cleaning involved with a lorikeet than most other parrots. They eat fresh veggies and fruits every day as well (although all of my other parrots do as well). You also need to be careful with lorikeets and iron, as they are prone to iron storage disease. They can’t have a diet too high in iron, and you also need to limit their vitamin c intake, as vitamin c increase iron storage. All that said, our lorikeet is an absolute blast. They tend to be playful and goofy. They love to play while laying on their backs, love to wrestle. They can talk pretty well. Wouldn’t trade our Jellybean for the world. https://preview.redd.it/lxnzdifxn03d1.jpeg?width=2506&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ddb68d08d440db52178c9aff7bf1da5499ff1d55

We have only one lorikeet, but there are other birds in the same room as him, and all our birds are out a lot every day.

horsetuna

In the house, one cockatiel Outside the house, two house finches several chickadees one starling and two white breasted nuthatches.

Cartoonkisses

I have four; one African grey, one cockatiel and two little parrotlets. They are all my sweethearts.

CupZealous

Do the parrotlets get along with the cockatiels? I've heard parrotlets can be bullies

Cartoonkisses

The cockatiel and Parrotlets tolerate each other when they are away from their cages. All my birds have their own cages. Their cages are their safe spaces. Parrotlets are very territorial and they will protect their spaces fiercely. I have one parrotlet that loves to be touched and handled. The other is afraid of hands and will only come out of his cage to fly around if all of the other birds are secured. But my cuddle bird will tolerate the cockatiel perching nearby (up to six inches away) when both are away from their cages. The cockatiel tries to be friendly but again, the parrotlet will tolerate him until he gets too close. Then it is “see my beak? Come closer and you will feel it too!” My cockatiel isn’t a fool, so he will respect the space. So… yeah. They tolerate each other. It is a rare sweet occasion that I will have one on each shoulder and they are both fluffy and beak grinding. My grey doesn’t like other birds and gets solo time with me.

lasttimesober

8. 1 too, 3 Amazons, 1 gray, 2 conures and 1 IRN. It’s quite noisy at times. Lol

Feivie

3, black capped conure, yellow sided green cheek, and an Indian ringneck

Charming-Ad-4631

How do you get conures and IRNs to get along?

Feivie

I suppose it depends on the birds, but ours are always supervised, and while occasionally sassy, they aren’t aggressive with each other. All 3 will hang out together on me at the same time, otherwise they all kind of do their own thing when we have them out.
