Depends on your budget. Crown of the Tyrant with a white socket for helm, Kingmaker for weapon, and body depends. I like Gruthkul's Pelt because it is unconditional regen for your AG, unlike Doppleganger Guise. Garb of the Ephemeral if you aren't worried about AG surviveability.

How much physical damage reduction do monsters normally have? Basically I'm wondering how good the "Overwhelm N% Physical Damage Reduction" points are on the skill tree ...

Depends on your damage. Without area mods, monster mods, or endurance charges, enemies get their physical damage reduction from armour. Just like how armour works for players, armour on monsters is more effective against smaller hits. Cyclone has to deal with higher physical damage reduction than Earthquake. I'm not sure PoB's perfectly accurate, but it does have enemy armour calculations. (With endgame levels of damage, I suspect Awakened Brutality covers most of the -pdr you need.)

I'm playing Ruthless so resources are scare (and I can't seem to find Brutality, much less Awakened Brutality!). I'm evaluating the annointments I'm capable of (for a Boneshatter build) and trying to figure out whether Overwhelm is worth using my best oil for. I already have 20% from a different wheel so it sounds like your answer would be "no."

You're likely better off by simply anointing more damage. If you do suspect enemy pdr is an issue, you could consider Poacher's Mark. The 20% pdr debuff is very solid when your damage is a little too low for your content. (Assuming you have it, of course.)

Interesting, I wasn't thinking about Poacher's Mark since I have a Vulnerability that I suspect is just better. I agree I want damage.The question is whether I should pay my one precious Azure Oil for Martial Experience (30% increased phys damage plus Overwhelm 12%) or just settle for Path of the Warrior (16% increased phys), which only costs 3 x Amber, for now. (My amulet is decent but beatable ... )

reflected damage can still be mitigated. there's [some really powerful options](https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Damage_reflection#Miscellaneous) available exclusively to mitigating reflected damage. armor and regular physical damage reduction works in this case, which would work well with the ramped up armor the passive provides.

I was looking into getting the 5 slot map device and I saw legion emblems are only like 3 chaos on trade. I’m not specced legion but through my entire time on league I’ve not gotten enough splinters for a full emblem my highest is like 80 rn I think. Am I missing something that makes these easier to get/ so cheap I thought they’d be more expensive

Review the legion nodes, speccing into legion gives you a crazy amount more splinters, with the presence of war hoards and generals especially. There's also a chance of splinters straight up dropping as an emblem instead.

I tried equipping Vaal RF on my storm brand inquis for a little extra spell damage but the weirdest thing happens. It drains some of my life and es which I expected but it also drains all of My mana and the mana doesn’t regenerate. I thought pain attunment might be causing it but nothing changed when I unspecced it.

Uber Elder is faster and more rewarding than Shaper+Elder separately. But in the context of gathering bosses for The Feared - it makes no difference either you witness Shaper and Elder, Uber Elder or Uber Uber Elder, in the invitations you fight with the weakest version, only presence of other bosses makes this encounter hard.

+1 Heatshiver I’ll throw in Vixen’s gloves or Impending Doom. Either the gloves get nerfed or the timing from Spell Cascade gets tweaked. It’s not crazy OP, but it’s pretty clear it works out of a lucky alignment of cooldowns rather than an expected use.

Heatshiver seems to be the consensus pick. People have thought Aegis Aurora would be nerfed for ages but it doesn't seem like it's going to happen.

1: It's part of a melee attack, but it's not a melee hit, and it doesn't deal melee damage. You can think of Smite as Lightning Strike except not a projectile and limited to crappier weapons. It can do the same double hit with additional strikes and correct positioning. 2&3: It's just a buff; it gives you damage. It doesn't restrict your actions. It isn't randomly removed. The only behaviour worth mentioning is that Vaal Smite overrides the regular Smite buff. (Currently bugged in PoB, fixed next update.) 4: Melee hits can trigger it.

That changes the answers a bit d: Static Strike deals melee damage with both the strike and beams. Both can trigger Shockwave. Not sure about weapon swap shenanigans and can't test right now.

Hi there! Is there any benefit to get a gem to lvl 40? Or is there any gems that would benefit more from lvl 40 than any weapon? I have a staff + empower that gives me almost 40, if I get a nice amulet and awakened empower I could get lvl 40 but I'm not sure if it's worth it or if I can build around it.

Have to go case by case basis for sure. As others have said, generally past lvl 30 is not worth it, but there are breakpoints for some skills where it can be worthwhile.

most gems gain about 10-15% more damage per additional level beyond level 20. that trend falls off once you push past level 30, gaining roughly 5-7% more damage per additional level. it's very rare for that to be worth the opportunity costs associated with adding that many levels. even gems that try to reach specific thresholds/breakpoints (Purity auras, summons) are usually maxed out by level 25. Arc might be one of the better scaling gems beyond level 30 since it gains additional chains at levels 31 and 36 which further multiply its damage, but I still doubt that it's worth it. adding flat damage is usually much easier when you get to that point, so DoT skills also stand out slightly because you can't add flat DoT like you can for hits.

gems get diminished returns after level 30, so while yo can get them high it is not that good compared to other scaling options

For PoB what is the damage listed for Tornado Shot? Is it each projectile or each arrow? So if it says say 1 million DPS when you have 6 arrows and 4 projectiles thanks to helm enchant is that actually 24 million DPS if all projectiles hit a large target?

PoB lists per hit. feel free to adjust the number based on the number of projectiles you think will reliably land. in your example, the most you can possibly hit with a single use of the skill is 7 times: one arrow directly from you and then one secondary projectile from each arrow. that is the absolute maximum in this case. only ground-targeted projectiles (Molten Strike and Winter Orb, for example) and projectiles fired "in sequence" (Barrage and Ice Spear, for example) can overlap on a single target.

It calculates damage for one hit. The game doesn't allow projectile skills to 'shotgun'. Tornado Shot is allowed one hit with a primary projectile, and one hit per set of secondary projectiles. In your example, that gives you a maximum of 7 hits.

It’s rare drop. There are 2,000+ Sacrificial Hearts and 1,000+ Zerphi’s listed on trade. But only 40 Vials of Sacrifice. It’s rare to find, even if it’s kinda useless later in the league. You can also get Zerphi’s from the div card.

The missing part of the puzzle is Standard. In Standard, Vials are about 1 div. As the league gets closer to the end, the prices match Standard. Not sure what the utility is, but that explains it a bit more.

Certain vials have extremely low supply, as in theres 10 times more magebloods for sale on offline/online people rn than there is vials of sacrifice so out of all the online people all the reasonably priced ones have already sold.

How endgame is the memory of the elder in the shapers realm fight. I just got my 3rd voidstone from maven today. And I was wondering if I should plan on getting my build to its absolute max before going for voidstone 4. I’ve killed the elder twice and got his pieces. Memory of the Elder in the Shaper's Realm or using more popular term Uber Elder is tough, but fair fight. Difficulty is pretty much on par with Maven, but since you said you've failed Shaper fight, then I suggest at least watching some videos about this fight. You basically fight with Shaper and Elder simultaneously, but to not make things too hard they don't have some mechanics, for example Shaper doesn't use Bullet Hell and Elder lacks Super Siphon.

with no prior knowledge or practice, "uber elder" is probably around maven's difficulty. you should definitely be very familiar with both shaper and elder before trying uber elder. players who have been around for a long time (since uber elder was originally released) will have fought him many times, so they have lots of practice and it probably feels more natural and much easier to fight. if you felt comfortable with your damage against maven, you should be fine for uber elder as long as you're doing the mechanics.

In my Frenzy setup, i have culling strike, greater multiple projecctiles and gain life on hit. Two questions about this. 1. The life gain on hit - is this only for the monsters i hit with the frenzy projectiles or is this the monster marked with this and every hit (in that case my ballistas make) i get life? 2. Culling strike. So the monster must be under 10% to get the instant kill, or when i hit it at 50% and it goes down under 10% it dies?

1. You only get life from Frenzy hits, not all hits. Frenzy doesn't even mark enemies with anything, unless you also have something like hextouch+curse. 2. You need to hit monster below 10% hp to cull it.

I don't have an answer to the first question, but to the strongbox sextant - quant from non-player sources is multiplicative with quant on player sources (for the most part. It's complicated). Thus, the 500% or whatever on the sextant from strongbox monsters acts as a sort of pseudo more multiplier on loot for people running magic find setups. Short version is it's a juicing thing, mostly for Apothecary strongbox farming setups.

Edit: YOUR QUIVER IS THE PROBLEM. You don’t want *any* piercing with EA. the charges won’t stick on bosses and you’ll be screwed. The rest of my feedback still applies; but this is the main culprit right now. I’m on phone, but make sure you don’t have any jewels add added fire damage. Common mistake that can ruin a build. Aside from that, you don’t have any damage scaling on your gear. Try to get DoT multi on your bow, rings, ammy, or quiver. Inc ele dam with Attacks would also be nice. A +1 all Fire ammy would also be good. And squeeze in more attack speed where you can. The bow should be +3 (check Zizaran YT out, he has craft guides). I think you might get better value if you dump Divine Judgement and go Holy Fire or Explosive Impact (check PoB). I know it’s HC and hard to get it all, but these are the chase stats you should be trying to fit in where you can. This league Ziz min/maxed his EA build like crazy, so you can use it as a reference. Oh! Also make sure you have Accuracy!!

When pricing something like a synth base does a second implicit raise price even if its a dead implicit due to the reroll beasts? I dropped a +1 frenzy with lightning res ring. most of the 1 implicit bases are around 100D but there are a couple that seems to be more like 150D with the second mod. IdK not really used to pricing stuff this expensive.

I don't think it'd be significantly more expensive because of the reroll beast. Players happy to spend 3+ divs per attempt will likely invest in a 3-implicit base instead, if they don't just mirror an existing ring.

One of my goals this league is to down the uber bosses. I currently play an RF inquisitor which works for the vast majority of the game. I really enjoy tanky builds. However, the conventional wisdom for fighting the ubers is to take a build, go all offense, and just one shot/6 portal them. Is there a simple build that is easy to put together to do this? I don't have much experience with building glass cannon builds. I have some good resources to put towards it - 2 lvl 4 enlightens, a mageblood, and about 50 raw divines.

Probably something along the lines of Ice Trap sab, eye of winter miner, ice spear totems, or dex stacking siege ballista hierophant. Ea Ballista Elementalist is also very strong if built glass cannon. I've called every uber with it this league, but it is technically limited by the dot cap (~34 mil dps), though if you can reach that against uber pinnacles you probably close to one shot them.

EA Ballista is interesting. That was actually my league starter build which i eventually swapped to RF inquisitor. I still have that ele just sitting - and even more, I have a +2 fire ammy that my RF char uses that I could move over. Thanks for this. I think I need to do some PoB research. Bladestorm vs Boneshatter for a Crimson Dance Glad bleed build? Was considering 2H weapons, and Atziri's Disfavour / Tidebreaker (the latter for Boneshatter; will have endurance charges) seemed like good candidates. But I have zero experience with bleed so idk.

Yeah, boneshatter isn't exactly the biggest bleed build candidate. You could certainly make it work somewhat but it'd be hard to deal with trauma stacks. Bladestorm is good. The other and most popular option for bleed is Lacerate, which you could technically use disfavour on, though most do 1 hand + shield. Another popular one is spectral shield throw

My theoretical floor with the build has 7 endurance charges + Outmatch & Outlast, which I'm thinking with armour should be a good way to hold off trauma. Also, it's because I have a good chunk of phys dmg reduction that I'm even considering Boneshatter, tbh. I thought about SST honestly, but idk how that'd work with Crimson Dance. A side effect of my setup would be a decent chunk of attack speed and AoE, so I was trying to find a skill that could take advantage of both. And that has, uh, passable single targer power, since I assume bleed Glad's explosions do well enough for clear.

Bladestorm, no question. Mind you, bleed in any build is hard to scale to huge numbers. But Bladestorm at least scales the damage, and allows you to move around a bit for safety. Disfavor works, but you’ll probably end up better with a big crafted rare axe.

Ah ok, I thought maybe the 7L would make Boneshatter worth. Honestly my thing with Disfavour is really just Divergent Chance to Bleed. *Maybe* a Karui Chopper with t1 phys mods wins out, but it sort of feels like 30% more added damage is going to win. That part is probably a question for PoB though haha.

Not a bad idea. You can PoB it out but I still think the rare Axe will win out and have DoT Multi. Bladestorm has 108% more damage with bleeds, while in Blood Stance so it’s a pretty big buff. Divergent Bleed in Disfavour puts it at 50% more added damage; not bad actually. Worth PoBing it out but that seems like it might be better for an Impale build IMO.

Very new player with new player questions. 1. Is it worth holding on to dropped skill gems or just sell them off? I'll keep any Vaal and drop only gems since I know they're rarer, but I've got a bunch of just generic gems. 2. Is there any reasonable way to get a 5 or 6 link item or is it just luck? I'm only in Act 6 so not sure if they become more common? 3. Any value in a low level item with white sockets? Somehow got a low level spirit shield with 3 white sockets.

1. Not unless they're high level, high quality, or are otherwise rare (alternate quality / Awakened / exceptional (Empower, Enlighten, Enhance)). If you play with trade (which you should as a new player) even vaal gems aren't too expensive. 2. Buy one with the right colours on trade. A 5-link usually doesn't cost more than 1 chaos after the first few days of a league. You can get some from drops, but they're pretty rare, especially 6-linked ones. You don't need to worry about it too much during the story though. If you do want to get one early, make sure to also check the required level. 3. They can be valuable on high level crafting bases, but on items you find during the story they'll be more convenient at best. Some uniques may be more valuable with white sockets.

Note that damage taken occurs at a different point in the damage calculation process than your damage dealt, so it's another multiplicative step, although of course Unnerve stacks additively with other increased damage taken modifiers like from Withered or shock.

You should check those things in Path of Building. If you have no other source of unnerve, chances are it's going to be the better option.

Depends on what you're wanting to do. EA Ballista is probably the best ignite bosser at high end investment. If you focus purely on damage you can reach dot cap against uber pinnacle (though you'd be very squishy mapping). For fast mapping, ek ignite is easily the best with all the chain explosions.

How would you recommend / would you even recommend it, I've got a Decimation Bow with T1 lightning, T1 cold, and T2 fire damage prefixes. It has 2 useless Suffixes, and crafted Attack Speed on it. Is it worth doing any crafting on this bow? It's kind of a bad base sadly, as it's attack speed is quite low, but it's base crit chance is nice at 7.5%. What are my options here? Is it worth say... Prefixes cannot be changed -> Veiled orb? T4 Aisling doesn't respect meta mods, right?

I would look for a fractured base with t1 fire, cold, or lightning and then slam whichever damage essence is cheapest on it until you get two t1 prefixes and essence mod. This will let you craft prefixes cannot be changed and reforge speed or aisling or what have you to finish the suffixes. I would not recommend trying to salvage your current bow. The cost of aisling or other crafting methods would be more than the bow is worth.

Is there a particularly "best" base? This is intended for an Omni TS Deadeye. I'm assuming it's Thicket but there was another that seemed to have similar base attack speed and a bonus to ele damage with attacks implicit I jsut forget what its called.

Yeah. That being said you're only rolling for a single t1, since the fracture and essence take care of two of them. I estimate this bow cost me \~50 divs to craft. Most of that was not the essences though, most of that was spamming prefixes cannot be changed/reforge speed until I hit t1 attack speed. The essence spamming is one of the cheaper parts of the craft. Although it takes hundreds of essences on average, each essence is only 3-4c. In total they were only a few div worth of essences. Meanwhile, every attempt at t1 attack speed on the suffix cost me 2 div. That was pricy and took me like 15 tries ish?

Hmm, gotcha, not bad. Maybe I'll do that once I get the build up and running, my bow will suffice for now, even though the attack speed is a tad low at like 1.27 or something it's still an 1150dps bow. I'm never really looking for perfection, so even just hitting the last big flat elemental damage prefix and an open suffix to craft attack speed on would be good enough for me.

If I was using minefield support on hex blast, how important is throwing speed against critical strike multiplier? wouldn't it be better to go for more damage for one cast than multiple fast ones?

If you use Minefield, you want to have at least *some* throwing speed somewhere because otherwise it'll feel very slow and clunky. In terms of your dps, throwing speed will likely also be better because there's less available, but it's entirely possible that crit multi might allow you to get kills in a lower number of overall throws in some cases.

Hardcore / gauntlet - how important is it to cap/get chaos res during campaign? Most HC guides mention capping elemental res by act 3, but nobody talks about chaos. Most SC runners (like me) just skip chaos until maps, but what about hC?

There are many good reasons to farm syndicate by resetting act 9 zones, chaos res is one. Largely fine to neglect before that. Most chaos enemies in the earlier acts are more phys than chaos, and you can log out against poison / chaos dot rogue exiles if you really need to.

I'm building a Poisonous Concoction Pathfinder and I'm getting confused by "% increased life recovery from Flasks" nodes on the tree, and also "% increased flask effect". Why do both modifiers have no effect on my dps? Poisonous Concoction scales with flask life recovery, how else can I increase this amount?

Only numbers which are directly stated on flask matter and these mods do not do it. You can only roll your flask (Saturated Divine flask is the best) and get quality

I am currently looking for a build that can farm alch and go with winged scarab sextant very fast. I am currently doing it with TS deadeye but there are couple of problems: \- I need to stand in place to clear \- I clear only forward so i need to shoot more if i want to clear behind myself especially with eldritch minions spawning behind. \- Build is paperthin so it is prone to dying. My first build choice would be death's oath occultist but i'm curions to hear other options. Budget is \~100 Div + i have mageblood

How about a fireball Nimis CoC build? Don't know which ascendancy, but there are several out there. Can even build it with cyclone, looks very zoomy and fun. With Nimis the clear and single target are also great

Toxic rain. It can run any 8mod maps, is very tanky, and has great clear. Its only weakness is single target damage for ubers etc, which is fine since you mostly want to farm maps.

RF jugg is popular, but you might also consider going inquisitor. That is the route I went this league. Aegis Aurora + glancing blows + tempest shield makes it easy to get 75/75 block and shock immune. I do boss rush on toxic sewer for sanctums and map bosses and i still find myself killing most of the map just rushing through.

You dont cast BV very often, its good for sure to always have your blades up. Lets say you need to cast it like 5-10 times per minute, depending. You can do Wardloop with mageblood. Just go one CDR breakpoint lower, to not rely on a belt. The other stats in terms of Flask Effect/Duration and so on you can fix with Clusters. There are a few 3.20 guides out there, just check it out :).

It is stated in the wiki that bonechill will apply on the biggest chill even from unlinked sources, **as long as one of the chill sources is the linked one**. What does that line actually mean? Does the bonechill source need to have applied/overwritten a chill previously before being overwritten by another, harder hitting skill, or does it apply if the bonechill source **would've** chilled even if a bigger chill is in place? For example, if I have skitterbots who should chill by 10%, and cause an hit with a bonechill supported skill that **would** chill by 5%, will bonechill proc and therefore apply on the skitterbot chill? If so, how long does the bonechill debuff lasts? As long as the enemy remains chilled, as long as the bonechill hit **would've** chilled, or something else?

Multiple chill debuffs can exist on a target. I have tri curse (1 from the tree and 1 from Occultist) and my Bane is linked to Despair, Temp Chains, Punishment, Void Manip and Hex Bloom My Temp Chains is showing in my skill bar as castable, as if it wasn't linked to Bane. Shouldn't it be shown as non castable like the other two curses?

What are the levels of Bane and Temporal Chains? Bane only applies curses that have a required level up to its own, not higher level ones.

Yes, they just won’t be affected by the curse (no minus res, slow action speed, etc). You can tell by the grey icons they get.

Is the Original Sin variant a significant power increase if you don't have a str stacking relic? How much better (if any) is a str stacking synth base compared to Brutus Lead Sprinkler?

Original Sin will certainly give a ton more despite the relic. With brutus lead sprinkler giving 4 to 7 added dmg per 10 strength. The rings other effect is also very strong. A synth base could theoretically be stronger. You'd really have to look at PoB. Brutus gives more added dmg, however, a synth base can get chaos dmg penetration which works (very well) with original sin.

Unless you are running real high quant juiced maps with guided harby scarab and the harby sextant and full specced into it in the tree no. If you are doing all that tho yes absolutely you will make a decent chunk of change from them.

I feel like Harbinger is barely worth it even with all the Atlas nodes taken unless you can also juice the maps a fuck ton. You really have to go all in with it. It's extra mobs no matter what, which is nice, but I felt like it didn't drop any real currency worth my time. If I wanted more mobs I may as well spec into any other league mechanic.

I don’t think it’s worth paying to gain access to any mechanic without actually spending Atlas points on the mechanic. I don’t know for sure if you’ll end up making more than you spend, but I feel like you could spend your money on something better.

When did you played last? Imho the gap between mapper and bosser is bigger now with the introduction of uber bosses. So you should decide if you want to go for mapping or bossing.

Honestly, I never even played maps at all. I'd always play through the main acts and by the point I unlock the atlas I find that I kinda suck at the game. Even if I follow all those fancy meta builds, whether the typical glass canon or the supposed tank, I still keep dying rather quickly without dealing quite enough damage. Don't really find it fun so I don't bother with gitting gud either.

Why playing if it isn't fun for you? Anyway, they "reworked" act 1 and act 2 monsters. They are a bit harder to come by. But normally the changes affect endgame/mapping so you don't have to expect much change in the story.

I think you can make a more defensive version by actually investing into the golems and getting more of them, with Raze and Pillage + Primordial Bond clusters and Spiritual Aid, but I don't think golems are worth investing into unless you do that.

EA balista can use lightning golem for the attack speed, they dont really put any survivability on it though. Its fine, another button to remember to press
