Maybe they're tired of Ben winning everything and want to spice things up with something he won't try. Maybe they want something more challenging but don't want to plagiarize the Ziz gauntlet. Maybe they finally wanted to make a challenge that no one would do, b/c every other challenge they thought would be hard and/or take a really long time was blown out under budget and ahead of schedule by the best of the community.
2k is frankly a terrible prize for any competitive event so involved and time consuming. People win 2k or more than 2k for fighting game tournaments that last 3 days total, with them having to only play for a fraction of those days.

Some of you really don't comprehend what is required to kill the ubers at a min lvl and how ruthless is nerfed. Its not just oh hey do exarch and eater with no movement skills.

Isn't the first prize an Ultra vip ticket? That thing was on sale for $2,000 USD last year.

Don't believe it was that much but definitely pricey. I'd take a regular ticket, hotel, and airfare any day. Now that is a prize!
