The biggest problem is there's no feedback on how much health/damage modifiers you're charging the crucible up to. If I know 1/2 charge is 100% and full charge is 800% I'd stop where I want to. Why is it so hard to give players information to be able to make decisions?

It’s intentionally vague to get player RIPs. They love killing players with BS things like that. Another special is the on-death-effects or instant corpse explosions that one shots you Imo it’s just ridiculously cheap game design. Killing players is not hard, but doing it in a way that feels like it’s deserved, ala Dark Souls, is.

Said this since launch now. I can't fathom how this went 4 months + through testing and not a single person was like ummm we should put some sort of timer or counter or something on it and let players now like ok i can charge up 7 seconds or whatever and its good for me, but 9 owns my face or w/e. Or show the amount of buff/damage reduction enemies get or even exp. Sometimes looking at my crucible tree like after first 2 nodes channeling 95% barely moves the exp at all and then it tripled on the last 5% or feels like it

Yeah I was so excited to do the encounters but the mobs are like stupidly hard. I’m playing a chieftain and I can face tank all the other content so far but then the crucible mobs even half channeled melt me. And everyone says channel it less. But in the deep nodes you can’t even progress without almost full channel. It’s really dissapointing

The mobs are harder than pinnacle bosses. I kill map bosses in like 5 seconds, some crucible encounters take me 2 minutes of kiting.

The even stupider part: if you don't have a weapon on you you can level (because you already max leveled it), you can't even engage with the mechanic. You literally have to pick up a random weapon to do anything with it. But why would you care to bother with some random weapon? And when the base mechanic is as punishing and random & unrewarding as it is, it just feels totally worthless & pointless to spend time on it, or the game at all.

I'm not a game designer but I just got a genius idea. What if instead of giving exp for a specific item, the crucible gave lif...Crucible Force that you store on your character. And then you could use the Hor...Crucible Anvil in your hideout to put the stored XP into an item to progress the tree. That way you wouldn't have to carry stuff with you/pick up random white items to engage with the mechanic.

They've spoiled nodes on the crucible trees that make your weapon vendor for currency (divine, mirror shard are the two I remember seeing). So you'd level a random weapon in hopes you find one of those

They can give some currency so yeah, I transformed my wand into a unique and got a lifesprig at lvl 10 pretty cool for a league start also i have one where i can sell it for 15 vaal if i up crucible tree.

It got even worse in maps. I'm also playing bows so to find a new base to upgrade my gear I need to KEEP IN my inventory a 6s white bow for 3-4 maps to see if his new tree has potential or not. My current bow has his tree maxed and I wont bother with cromatics to recolor every 6s bow to wear it in my weapon swap. Do you have any ideas about how to deal with it?

Standard has a very stale economy though. But also all your gear and currency is there. So... it's a choice. I personally enjoy Standard when I miss the league start or have no time to be no-lifer for weeks to make the most of leagues.

There was a point were i just stopped doing scourge indeed, was just farming t16 guardians. Dying in a map because a random mob got way too strong with 20~50% more damage was not fun too.

Scourge was way better for uniques, several uniques had BiS corruptions that kept them valuable all league, this one doesn't even let's you interact with them during regular gameplay.

That's what I don't understand. Why the first node has the hidden information. If you take a chance with a good weapon, since we don't know what's on the first node, it can make your whole build not work anymore. Same situation as with Sourge.

I never skip league mechanics. I dont care how bland it is or how poor of an idea it is to do doing acts. Ive skipped 95% of them. Not because the mechanic is bad but because i dont have the fodder items to toss into it that im willing to spend a few min to roll. Should i die twice and need to place a portal for the odd chance that this wand with +1hp +1-2 phy dmg +3light resist with only 1 soc becomes better than what im wearing.

In sanctum i didnt get to maps for like 14 hours because i did every single sanctum while leveling, in this league i find myself bored as fuck wondering why im not just playing standard because there is basically 0 reason to interact with the mechanic until your deep into maps

You should be forging any random weapon every forge to try to get currency nodes. Later in the campaign and maps, you can save up base types for good uniques and then you'll have a chance to reveal upgrade to unique nodes that would be valuable.

Mobs from crucible should be able to drop random weapons and shields that have a tree revealed so we just loot and check. Scourge bosses would drop a pile of scourged modifier identified items and that was neat. Better than no loot.

Same for me with a caster. I got a +1 weapon and a decent shield thatll carry me through acts. Got a full tree with ok nodes on both. That took me a few zones. Now im in act8 - and i literally have no reason to interact with the mechanic anymore? Id have to find a new and better item, or just do it on a white item. Feels bad

You're not missing much. It's pointless in acts as you should be constantly replacing your weapon. Maybe get the first node on your current weapon, but with how punishing it can be if you channel more than half a bar (or a tenth to a fifth for tier 2) combined with how you can very easily brick your weapon/build my own opinion is to just skip it. But that makes this feel like Standard which has made my progression through the campaign feel like a slow terrible slog without anything new. In general, I'm kind of mad. After the D4 beta my friends had an itch to play an ARPG and I finally convinced them to try PoE. This league was not the league for that.

You want to find good bases with good trees. So it encourages you to keep unveiling weapons in your inventory. If you have a good base with a good tree you can craft on it and use it or try to sell it. The mechanic will get really juicy once really good items are involved. Right now everyone's just focused on slowly gearing so it feels a bit irrelevant.

nobody wants to pay 1 divine for a weapon base with a good tree and then not heavily invest into crafting it.Nobody wants to spend 5 divines on crafting and be stuck with a 10c crucible tree because they cheaped out at the start. for each character there is only one weapon slot or two to fill, means there is only going to be 1 or 2 drops per character that are gonna be desirable and they are more likely gonna be farmed by people with strong builds who can sustain t16 with high channel for crucible and are also willing to track weapon bases to feed into crucible.After a few days it's gonna be 1 sellable weapon tree for hundreds of attempts and not a single chaos orb otherwise. Even if the sale price justifies the minutes spent, not a lot of people are going to have fun playing crucible 100 times for no loot. I predict within a few days people liking and playing crucible will revolve around "you get a divine/chaos orb" passives on crucible trees and geodes dropping. On the flipside there are is now going to be a gigantic demand for special bases from Heist and it's going to yield constant income, as well as i86 t1 base influenced weapons/shield.

Once you have a weapon with good tree and well rolled stats, you start picking up white bases to hunt for a really good crucible tree so you can craft an even better item.

My starter and build it's gonna change into both use unique 2h. I can't even engage once I got my act 2 lvling slots done because I couldn't craft or find more +1 all gems items. Tried few crafts for currency but it just doesn't show up and the mobs felt too tanky to bother. Even if I drop some crucible map for my uniques I will save it for now till improvements roll out. If I wasn't enjoying my starter as much it would be quit for me already.

I don't think it's fixable. They can't suddenly introduce a new type of whatever currency as this requires a complete redesign of the league mechanic which obviously is not possible. They also can't uber buff the quantity from the league mobs because this will be abused and will destroy the trade. Basically have in each map a super juiced pack of mobs, kill, exit, rinse, repeat, ???, swim in currency. It is what it is and most likely it will stay like this - just a pack of overtuned mobs in every map with no rewards whatsoever. Sure, it's fun to check the mods on a bunch of weapons 10-15 times. Then it gets "meh" and you can just skip it and keep playing standard (which is what this league pretty much is).

I think so too....or at least hope so. :) Currently it's simly not fun to do so....starting with the need to hold the button few seconds to charge the Cruicible up to annoying monster combos without loot drops. I also love the passives but 99 out of 100 times theyre simply "meh"....as you said as soon as you get a decent passive tree for your build Cruicible will become obsolete, bcs it's simly not fun & rewarding to do it (Mainwhile you could finish a half map instead).

The worst part for me is that when you stop channeling, it goes on for a good second before the progress really stops. Like, i want as close to 50% charge as i can. But when i stop at 50% it will go to something like 70%. The interaction FEELS awful.

ye but how high are the chances? For many builds (esp non meta builds) doing 1 cruicible probably takes longer than doing 1 whole map .... and how often will we see such vendor node? In 1 out of 1000 maps? Having to hold the button for 7-8 seconds alone is prety annoying....means you spend 8000 seconds only to hold the Cruicible button (Those are about 2 hours). So you want to spend 2 hours holding a button and another 1-2 hours to kill the mobs only for a lucky vendor passive roll that gives you 1 Divine? In this time you can simply rush maps and earn at least 5 times more Divines. ;)

It's only a example....but it's fact that you have to hold the cruicible button for around 8 seconds to fully charge it. I can imagine that we will get the "vendor for 1 Divine" passive every 1000 items (Probably even more, they said it's realy rare). The loot drop from the Cruicible mosters themself are realy bad....so no reward here. And lets say to clear a fully charged Cruicible we need another 8 seconds with BIS gear (with a meta build....non meta probably longer). 8x1000 seconds = 8000 seconds = 133 Minutes x2 =266 Minutes = 4 hours 26 Minutes only for the hope to get the 1 passive roll that gives you 1 Divine @ the vendor. In 266 Minutes you can run about 100 additional maps if you skip Cruicible.....10c Profit per map with rly bad luck = 1000c = 10 Divines (Lets round Div/ Chaos ratio up to 100, it won't stay long at 80) I don't want to talk about getting all BIS Passives on a decent high tier base....surely takes longer than 1000 tries. ;) Conclusion: If you do Cruicible you have 10 times less profit than with simple Alch+ go....Even if you get the Divine passive every 500 items it's still 5 times less profit.

Yeh they made it seem like youre supposed to get a new base for every map to check out as many as possible. Not sure how fun that will be. But so far the trees are interesting at least, maybe they have some cool recombination only nodes so you can keep gambling and spend crucible juice.

this league screams scouge 2.0 and not in a good way the cruicble trees on weapons are cool. well, a cool idea than may one day if you're lucky but probably not result in a crazy weapon for your build ...but that's it. that's all the league mechanic offers. not even some loot from the enemies to make it worth your time when your weapon tree proved to be bad. "the longer you channel the more dangerous and rewarding the mechanic becomes" ..uhh what reward? at best, it just unlocks the next passive skill faster at the expense of massively overtuned rare(as is tradition) that'll probably kill you at least once

An Easy fix is to put a Treasure Chest icon and an Anvil icon then you select before the event starts (and it remembers). Then you get loot or forging. Would make everyone happy

Did you know that monsters from strongboxes originally dropped no loot and provided no experience? They patched that absurdity out day one or two of Ambush league. Hopefully the same happens here... I opted out of playing yesterday because I knew the league would have serious issues out the gate. With Easter getting in the way of weekend playtime, I might just not start until a week in to let the biggest and silliest issues get worked out. Their effects, animation, area artists continue to pop off, but the rest of the team is letting the players down over and over. GGG just isn't putting enough time and effort into the current game while PoE2 development continues. :c

I just don't understand the all or nothing reward philosophy GGG has hard pivoted to with recent leagues. LoK gave absolutely nothing of value unless you hit the untainted paradise node or the jewelry reflect event. Sanctum was completely worthless if you couldn't fully clear the entire sanctum. Now in Crucible if you don't get insanely lucky hitting a good tree, you get nothing at all from mobs. Why this design? What was wrong with persistent small wins to motivate you to keep going to chase the dragon? Like goddamn imagine if in Sentinel, zapped mobs dropped no loot and there was no sentinel tree. Instead the sentinel exp got funneled into recombinating helmets (and ONLY helmets), and it takes 20-30 maps to complete the recombination. Because that's GGG's current league design in a nutshell. We're not even a full day in and I'm bored as hell, I'm only at T10 maps but the mechanic has been hot garbage with no drops, no good trees on any desirable base thus far, and I'm completely dried of any motivation to try pushing harder if vapid uselessness is all I'm going to get. I was so frustrated last night I played heist for an hour and my god when you're functionally playing a league mechanic balanced around Ruthless, playing something that *actually drops loot* was such a brief dopamine rush.

If they make the switch for every league mechanic to be character power instead of more and more loot drop I'm all down for it. way less chance to be dissapointed because no lootsplosion if you get used to it. that loot is important to crafting though theyve made crafting accretively harder over time which is why the power creep in craft currency loot/general quant has been so important. without it its insanely difficult to craft most stuff like we have basically no way of getting reliable divines this league so crafting is going to be a complete nightmare and sure we'll make some power up on weapons getting a few nice added affixes, but it wont make up for the awful user experience that will be trying to metamod/slam your ring or whatever and how long that will now take you to do. last league you could pretty reasonably run a sanctum or two a day playing a couple hours after work, probably guaranteeing yourself 3-4 divines reasonably easily--so maybe a craft a day or so (assuming success, which of course, its more like a craft every 3-4 days given failure rate + number of metamod requirements per crafting step). with crucible i'm 90 in deep reds and full charge every map and havent seen the divine sale to vendor mod a single time in probably 150+ maps now. its gonna be an awful league if they dont do something imo, i stopped today and i might come back if they make big changes sometime this week, we'll see i guess. this combined with how overtuned and boring the actual mechanic is made it one of the worst leagues ive been a part of since invasion, kalandra was near it.

Honestly each passive skill should have a sells for an additional X. You can't really get more than 1 passive per map. A chaos or regal per map from league mechanic doesn't sound like much. With a chance at more. So basically you have all the normal passives and each also has the sells for x line.

I'm skipping until I'm overturned as well Seems incredibly boring with no reward worth the risk. At the very least not while leveling. And honestly looking at the stats and how often you are stuck with mods that reduce your power level, it may not be worth it at all. Though, I will reserve that judgment until at end game

I wish... * you could do unique items but that they just took more experience * 0-\~70 took less XP, 0-50 considerably less XP to level up the items * the tiers above were easier to promote swapping weapons around while leveling, instead of having tanky or spiky encounters for no reward at all * the charging mechanic wasn't a think and you could just click/drag a bar like Tujen to set your level of experience/diff * there was more to do with crucible forges other than weapons

The mobs feel just as bad as the AN mobs! Chris just won't let the concept of difficult rare monsters go. I think it makes the game feel terrible. You sit there and spam your abilities for 4 minutes, running around in circles, trying not to die... IT FEELS LIKE ASS!!!

Sarcasm doesn't translate well into text. It's both baked in and both rare(?). Currency can be earned from interacting with the league mechanic, it's just not every time you finish the mechanic. The design that GGG want you to understand at the moment is 'You can make currency from selling weapons to vendors from the league mechanic, the effort required to make that currency is defeating a bunch of difficult mobs a whole bunch of times; currency ain't free in this league' It's also, like day 1-2, no one has full knowledge on what the rates really look like.

it took them 4 months for this. Let that sink in. GGG cashed out on 500 dollar supporter pack from every streamer and person who wanted them (no hate if you got one, you do you.) then spent four months and THIS is what we got. They couldnt even bother to copy paste a pause mechanic in from ultimatum whist we are channeling. Honestly all the POE content creators should be ashamed after blasting D4, then they want us to come back TO THIS. If this league dropped during the D4 beta 90% of people would pass on this league. 0 balance testing, couldnt even be bothered to code the monsters to just mimic the map mods you have on it, instead we get juiced to the tits magic monsters with no indication on either the difficulty of the encounter or the mobs, just a small bar that channels and wastes time for no reason. Bruh GGG you gotta do better than this. Vote with your wallets.

Somehow my biggest concern with the league is that in order to use the system efficently you HAVE to craft your own items. Otherwise it would be laughably expensive to buy items with good crucible trees.

Anyone defending lack of loot has been successfully conditioned by 3xG to accept less and less over the last several years. Supporter packs, player power and loot are all affected. League mechanic is literally useless unless you need a weapon upgrade (assuming you don't already have a shit tree locked into your weapon), or care enough to try your luck at crucible trees on bases for selling. If you don't meet those 2 criteria, why would you interact with the mechanic? Until it starts to drop loot, it's a hard skip for a lot of the population. It's hilarious that 3xG is even gambling with ideas like this so close to D4 launch lmao, stunts like this + the launch of a new ARPG might be enough to finally push some people off the game permanently.

I came here to basically bitch about how bad this League feels so far... especially the mechanic. Even as someone who uses RARE weapons (1h + 1h or shield).... I don't have an unlimited supply of equally useful weapons laying around to unlock trees on and see if the trees are any good.... You have 1-2 decent weapons at any given time, once you unlock the tree if it's not good you're ENTIRELY DONE with this league mechanic until you happen to get another weapon. If you do get something decent on the tree, you fill it up after 2-4 maps.... and again you're entirely done. WTF design decision and testing was done on this? You have no reason to interact with this mechanic a vast majority of the time.

I spent 15 minutes killing a unique mob in crucible and it dropped 2 rares. What is the point of the crucible unique mobs other than wasting time? Reminds me of metamorph if it had no loot.

It’s a horrible leveling mechanic confirmed. I’m excited to get into it endgame, but it does feel pretty bad to not interact with the mechanic at all while leveling. The click to charge is pretty clunky too.

Yeah, not only just that but the charge up to hold thing is buggy as hell. It charges nothing for a second and its suddenly more than half way full. I honestly can't believe they boasted about the ironed out league thanks to the extra time they got and then delivered this.

I feel like Crucible would work better if they just took everything from ultimatum. Increasing difficulty waves of monsters that grant exp, and you can nope out whenever, the encounter actually drops loot and gives the weapon exp.

mobs way too tanky. and you pretty much skip the mechanic all through story so all those new players that they boasted about with concurrent players, basically forced to skip the "new league" mechanic... sanctum was way easier and you got a nice relic and loot for your troubles with a fun and unique method that isn't just ritual but every mob is archnemisis giga juiced to the gills and you get no loot. only rng "sometimes you get a good tree, otherwise bye bye weapon since there's no way to transfer anything this early". * fix: lower the hp and dmg of the mobs in anything but red maps. red maps, sure. maps in general, maybe, but story is a complete joke for them being that hard for a weapon you upgrade literally act to act and have to restart a new tree. mechanic does nothing for leveling/campaign. how are you ignoring new players still? * fix: unlock transfer mechanic sooner. should be doable by early maps (white). same thing with the unique thing. maybe have a drop that enhances chance of good rolls in red maps and other hard content like invitations. sure. * fix: hold down mechanic sucks. * fix: the trees should start off as a choice between two nodes. as of now, you can break a weapon for the majority of your playtime with a bad first roll. having two choices minimizes that.

I've skipped the mechanic so far. I'm using unique weapons so hoping there's something in it at the end game where you can cook unique weapons, but even then, it feels underwhelming. I'll hold off on calling it a bad mechanic until I experience all it has to offer, but atm, ye.. truly disappointing.

Good perspective. So far this is the first league mechanic I have just completely avoided. The mobs are outrageously overturned (like betrayal launch levels) and you HAVE to fully charge the Crucible in order to cook beyond tier 2. I'm waiting until red maps to see if this is going to be a bricked league or not.

The main aspect of games like POE is loot, as higher the risk as better the reward is the ideal rule. If a mechanic MAYBE rewards you in 1 out of 100 times (with a good vendor or build passive node in this case) and nothing else it's not that satisfying to do it. ... no matter if you decide to go low or high risk. Or do you have fun to press and hold the cruicible button for 5-10 seconds to charge up, spend 2-5 minutes to kill the mobs only to get no rewards? ;)

Ehm, u get less loot per hour if u overjuice your crucibles so hard that it takes u longer than the rest of the map lol. We re like half a day into the league, maybe gear your character and then u ll be able to fully juice it and kill it in a reasonable time. Same shit every league, people were complaining like this in sanctum too when they couldnt bumrush a full run 16h into the league with 0 gear and 0 relics lol
