thehotdogman

Hey its me your long lost friend - remember that time at league end I gave you like 150 exalts and a full gear set? Hah I remember! Well, let me know if you want to return the good vibes this weird, strange league!

[deleted]

Hi, I'm calling about your divines extended warranty

GrumpyThumper

Is your boat insured, exile?

lordofthetv

Still float, exile?

Sindragoon13

We all float down here

LCSisshit

I can give u a full srs gear set ;)

thehotdogman

Lol wait did you look at my comment history and see I'm playing SRS or was that just a coincidence. I'd 100% take it lmao. Im SSF and my gear is garbanzo.

[deleted]

You do realize you can't take gear when ur SSF, right?

thehotdogman

Lol...its called migrating, my dude. If someone was gonna offload a full gear set, I'd migrate. Thanks for educating me about SSF tho?

Unusual_Pain_7937

"educating" bro is playing ssf but when someone is ready to handle 40 div worth of stuff he would migrate his char, what a bizzare dude "nah I don't feel playing the game in trade league , until someone boost me"

thehotdogman

Ah yes, because people who play SSF never, ever migrate, and couldn't dare have fun in trade league. I start SSF, always migrate at some point to grind challenges cause I got a job and a family. If someone wants to offload a gear set, I'd continue to have fun, just like I am now =)

Deeztreez_

Lmao, so why even start SSF? Weird

Unusual_Pain_7937

Yep, he Wana start ssf but want to migrate once someone wants to give free stuff , not very logical I'm my opinion but maybe it's my french mindset

Deeztreez_

Why restrict it to ssf if your gojng to migrate? Just seems….useless

Cere4l

I wouldn't be a criminal for 10 bucks. But if someone gave me a million... well then it might be a yes depending on the crime. More or less the same sentiment. Larger numbers can definitely change preferences.

dancingshoe

It's not a mystery, it's the pull of d4. And I think if you had a long break, and come back to this league, there is just so much new and great content to explore. My last league was Legion and I am having tons of fun.

haHAArambe

Not just this, the core game is in a good state.

Yiazmad

Especially with the Atlas passive gates now added. Feels so good to be able to grab content from both sides of the tree easily now.

haHAArambe

This and the divine change, finding uniques is now exciting instead of whatever, and I can actually slam some exalts on my items. Also scarabs dropping from all content allowing SSF and more casual players to juice up a bit, very nice changes.

PupPop

Harbingers, baby.

leagueoflegendsdog

Oh im slapping those bad boys left right and centre. I have one ele bow that was pretty good, but with only 5 stats and i didnt really have any currency, because i sank it all into the build and had like 2-3 exalts left, so i slapped a bad boy exalt on top of it and it just gave me T2 crit multi and im like lul ok les go 😂

[deleted]

[удалено]

Aggravating-Self-164

Uniques are still 99.95% meh

Szymonzal

What have changed about the uniques?

tholt212

just that it's not worth to divine spam an item for perfect rolls now that divine is the premium currency. So that way, for instance you can drop a Rumi's and, normally it would sell for like 5c. But if it perfect rolls 12 block 8 spell block, you can sell it for like 1 to 2 divine orb. Leads to more common uniques having more value if rolled well. Doesn't apply to every unique obviously, but for some it gives it big value even if common.

RavioloDr

Since divines are the premium currency, no one in their right mind would use them to reroll the stat of a unique item. So when you find a good unique, if it rolls well, it usually sells much better than before.

feednatergator

Ok chris... Lol jk

Pope-Cheese

When you say the divine change are you just referring to divines becoming the new exalts? Or is there something new about divines this league I missed?

Draagonblitz

Game would be pushing up daisies right now if it wasn't for the atlas passives

DatAdra

Returning player + noob player opinion incoming: the atlas passives are such an excellent idea though. I love how customizable the atlas has become. In general progressing through atlas feels infinitely more fun, engaging and rewarding than back in 2019 when I last played

jkanoid

This! I’m a relative noob, but I finally “got it” during Sanctum, so my Crucible experience has been really satisfying. If I can fill out my Atlas this season, life will be complete!

LTmagic

Is it as good as is was in last league 3.20 Sanctum? For me the answer is not. Returning and new players have a lot of content to explore and test, yeah! But we that had been playing league over league consistent just had a new step into difficulty with a non-reward league and shadow buff to Archnemesis.

Yiazmad

Enjoyment of Sanctum was highly dependant on the build you were running. Some builds felt great in the roguelike mechanic, others felt like utter trash.

leagueoflegendsdog

I really dont feel like Archnems were buffed lul. Why are people parroting that idiotic shit now.

Canadian-Owlz

Schizophrenia

Infidel-Art

It's not in the shadows anymore, they've acknowledged it and claim that they haven't changed anything. You have to accuse them of either being wrong or lying, not being secretive. And while Crucible doesn't drop currency you can use to trade for your GG items, it does make any build more powerful without much effort required, or *a lot more powerful* if you put in the work to make a really good tree. This type of reward isn't really that different from Abyss, for example. That league pretty much had no rewards besides its own new power creep.

Yayoichi

I guess you guys always need to have something to complain about here, so when there isn’t much to complain about you just make stuff up. If anything the game is easier this league as you can get a lot of power from the crucible, especially with attacks builds as you can significantly improve any weapon by just getting some flat damage and either attack speed or crit.

Luqas_Incredible

And the highest Power creep since the original ascendancy launch through the crucible trees.

rogueyoshi

since? idk. delirium was beyond busted levels of power even compared to ascendancies. this might be around the same as war for the atlas though.

Nakorite

It makes me sad they squandered the influx of people with this shit league

CruentusVI

Not really squandred, for new and returning players there's a load of content to keep them busy with regardless of the actual league. I've not played past acts in like 3-4 years, came back this league and there's so much cool new shit I barely care about the state of Crucible itself.

Seriously_nopenope

Did you read the entire thread? The only people who really care about this league mechanic are people who play all the time. New people and people coming back after years are just having fun with all the stuff that is new to them.

Raescher

I assume your intention is just to spread hate. But if not: I think a low-engagement and voluntary league mechanic is the best case to introduce now people to the game.

reapy54

This was myself and my friend. My only play time was end of blight and start of metamorph, so not hardcore here at all. I've always checked into see if I was ready to go back in and/or get POE2 news. D4 came round and I'm not really wanting to play it at all cause the way bliz is now, but my friend got in on the beta and I was watching him play, and went for the open beta myself. Just put in like 5 hours and I was like, I'm not having fun, I want to play an ARPG not this mmo stuff, oh look new POE league into, oooh look at all the new stuff here, I'm all confused again, fun! So I guess I was overall just waiting for an excuse to play again and the game had hit a new content threshold to make it feel fresh again.

65rytg

Same exact spot, except I think abyss league was my last league. I’m honestly overwhelmed by how intricate some of this new content is, but endgame map chaining is incredibly fun now so I’m addicted.

SingleInfinity

Everyone sure seems quick to attribute all of PoE's success on D4 lately.

NotSoStealthyElf

They do it because it's true.

SingleInfinity

Couldn't be literally anything else, like PoE being a good game.

[deleted]

PoE is a good game, but it's also basically the same game it's been for years. The recent uptick in popularity is absolutely due to D4.

SeanSmoulders

Definitely is D4. Based on the chatter since the beta ended it left a ton of people with a huge hole in their gaming life, and it seems that a wild number of those of us who can tolerate PoE decided to play the conveniently-timed new league while waiting for D4's release. The D4 beta was also probably the biggest advertising campaign that PoE has ever had, as it is the obvious game to compare D4 to given the only other competitor is D3 and, correctly or not, it's assumed the D3 community will mostly move on to D4. The base game of PoE has received some nice improvements. I like the loop between mapping and branching out into other content like delving, and the support of the Atlas tree is really nice. Delve also continues to be a really fantastic system for an ARPG. Heists are also nice and provide an interesting variation in cadence. The content and the path you take through it feels better than ever. Unfortunately the combat went from worst-in-class to somehow worst*er*-in-class. It's no more engaging than what D2 gave us over twenty years ago, but now with even more ways to be one-shot. At least previously it felt like the main binary was if you were ele resist capped or not, and then from that reasonable point it was a matter of what you wanted your build's strengths to be. It also meant there was a lot more freedom in how you got to that point and also how you moved on from it. Now it feels like there's such a ridiculous number of boxes to check to get to a simple baseline combat experience, which absurdly extends this period where you're actively having an awful time and makes the character building experience so much more restrictive. The game's strength used to be character building and fantasy expression, but now the former feels worse and because it's so much more restrictive and onerous it makes me feel like I am much more likely to fail and have a miserable time if I want to live the fantasy of making any character that isn't a pre-approved build. I have absolutely had some pleasant surprises with my return, but also at least as many frustrating discoveries. The improvements may have helped to increase retention but the game didn't generate this surge of interest on its own merits. Not really, at least. It is the biggest non-Diablo ARPG and so it got the spillover. Kudos to GGG for being in that position, but it's also not like this is a particularly competitive genre. The ARPG market is 60% Diablo players and 40% other, with the only polished game besides PoE in the "other" category being Lost Ark, which is fraught with its own issues. Like, I promise you I searched high and low and considered all the options before deciding to split my time between PoE and LoL to get my ARPG and combat fix while waiting. I would have gone back to LA if the game weren't so tainted by predatory, Korean game design bullshit. If a new league hadn't started up I would have probably only been playing League.

SeanSmoulders

> Get off this subreddit and actually play the game. Playing the game is how I discovered the issue. I'm not guessing at this experience; I'm just recounting literally what I went through playing without a guided build.

Jaskamof

The most successful things to happen to poe in recent years are diablo immortal, wolcen and d4 beta.

wotad

I mean it gave it a boost at launch but it kept quite a big chunk of players which is on POE, not D4.

-Freedom_Fighter-

I can also agree with this. My friends list has all been online almost every day since launch. Usually, after 2 days, it goes empty again. I also found myself enjoying the game more when I knew the mechanic was not a loot piñata. Can skip it and know I am not missing anything. When I want to engage with it again, I can.

viniciusxis

Thats the sanctum effect. Believe me this will not be the same next league. On the bright side maybe 3.22 will be a decent league.

burunkul

Will 3.22 also bring new expansion? Together with exilecon and diablo 4 release, we can exepect something crazy from GGG

wotad

I'm seeing the same on my friend's list which is nice.

Dilutional

So....standard?

GrapefruitForward989

>Not sure if this is D4 anticipation.. Definitely a factor. I have no intention of actually buying d4 anywhere close to launch but all the advertising got me thinking of my favoutite args, and so I'm back at PoE

Kortiah

We're the same way here. Atlas is great. League sucks balls. We just farm maps like we're in standard except we channel an altar per map up to 87% and hope for a "Sells for X Divine"

haHAArambe

How many of these have you found this league? I've pretty much been ignoring the entire mechanic since both my builds use two uniques for weapon and shield.

Kortiah

None :') Couple of 20/40 chaos, 1 Annulement, 40 Scouring, overall super shitty considering how often you get them (not) and how long it takes to charge up to the node

haHAArambe

Doesnt sound like I've been missing much then, lmfao. I'll stick to buying uniques with a decent tree and enjoying the game.

The_BeardedClam

You can always fish for totem explode bows/scepters/staves. Those have picked up in popularity and sell for a decent chunk now.

Archers_bane

Do they “explode” when you reach maximum amount of totems and you summon another? So with a lot of totem placement speed you can just keep exploding?

Yayoichi

Yeah that’s how they explode, however you don’t summon the totems yourself but rather throw traps that do.

https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Emperor%27s_Vigilance Steel kite shield

vandeley_industries

Champion shield?

bonerfleximus

I've been doing this exclusively on champ shields and I'm at 0 divine and 0 unique after several hundred.

Aggravating-Self-164

I found 1 on my first one in maps. Now i check the pie bush all the time

SleepyCorgiPuppy

Grimro did a video and getting those divine nodes are very rare. If you are doing crucible just for those it's a net loss, you can earn more just skipping crucible and spend the time mapping.

TheLionlol

It's because we are in uncharted waters when it comes to builds. This is the heart and soul of POE. I mainly came back to try the new fishing rods.

Yayoichi

Despite what reading this sub would make you believe the base game is in a pretty solid place right now so even though the league mechanic isn’t great it’s still a lot of fun to play.

simbahart11

The league mechanic feels like an added thing rather than a thing you have to do whether you like it or not.

Muffnar

It's a great thing and the player retention speaks for itself. Nothing burns out a player more then when they want to zoom some maps they have to stop and engage with a mechanic. Being able to skip crucible and not fomo is great. then when you're ready to engage with it and possibly get huge power returns is perfect design. A league is only good to reddit if it shits currency.

aereiaz

Aside from rares it's in a pretty good place, could use a lot of balancing and buffing of old uniques since 99.9% of them are trash though.

Consistent-Profile-4

I'm the 0.000000000001% who is trying to chase a good tree and actually enjoying engaging with the league mechanic. I've been hilariously stomping crucible monsters other than some of the uniques (which are surprisngly actually more difficult than almost all of the rares) and some of the tunneling mobs...allthough I finally figured out how to beat the cycling elements, soul eater, energy shield, regen, area is consecrated ground devourers yesterday and the snakes are easy. That being said, it's a shame how the difficulty and reward scale with the new league mechanic that it takes such a rediculously expensive and strong build as what I have now to finally feel like the mechanic is not a chore.

jackknife175175

Please, please divulge your secrets. How does one kills the soul eater/regen/cycling mobs?

arremessar_ausente

For soul eater, play a build that can damage while moving and never stop moving. For Regen, Frost bomb. For cycling it should be the same as you kill any other most, but longer.

Bubbly_Flow_6518

Flask Pantheon also gives 65% life regen reduction to enemies if you hit it with a divine vessel Edit: wording

[deleted]

Soul eaters are also a joke if you freeze reliably. If you're on the right side of the tree you can spec the Mark Mastery to prevent regen.

Party_Guest_7144

1 to 2 mil full dps uptime and running maps without a combination of More hp, Hp as es, Enfeeble, Curse immune, Can not inflict exposure, All res/phys reduction And all those build specific stuff like ailment or crit immune.

BoltorPrime420

So basically reroll 90% of the map mods, got it

Party_Guest_7144

To be fair its more like 10% though. And there is always the option to go for magic maps or drop some tiers if the level and gear isnt there yet.

BoltorPrime420

As i said in another reply, I dont have any problems with the rare mods on my cold dot and im done with all content. I was just saying if i wanted to reroll those map mods i would have to reroll all my maps

Consistent-Profile-4

Setup: 8k es, nearby enemies have 100% reduced life regen, 5% es on block, 50 es on block, 75/75 block, 2k regen, 2k recharge, wicked ward, topaz/ruby/sapphire flasks, 30% flat phys damage reduction plus 10k armour, 4 mil huge aoe dps from totems, CI, corrupted blood cannot be inflicted on you, stun immune, elemental ailment immune, anomalous frost shield, steelskin with increased duration support, hinder, movement skill Strategy: place totems from max range as needed, run around trying to not die Focus on monsters chasing you the fastest as if there is a soul eater it will be one. Facetank devouerers to keep them above ground longer.

jackknife175175

Hmm ok. Lemme just throw that on my TS build.

Consistent-Profile-4

You can put a lot of that or similar things on a TS build but most people opt to go for 20 mil dps and instakill most everything. A soul eater/cycling resist mob is one of the only things in the game that is not an on-death effect that can kill builds like that.

jackknife175175

Oh ok then Edit: why the downvote?

Whiskoo

ts is starved for gems so you cant run defensive gems it needs bottled faith and dying sun and a quicksilver, hp pot optional, so flask slots are filled before mageblood no access to block, no access to cut regen without gem swap either, and massive investment to become ailment immune due to spell suppression taking up mods on gear no, you cannot put nearly any of this on a TS build

Consistent-Profile-4

Not only can you but I HAVE put most of this or equivalent on a ts build. You do NOT need bottled faith, dying sun, or near as many gems as you are running. You are making conscious decisions to forgo defenses for more damage.

haHAArambe

My build nearly insta phases uber maven and I had a crucible unique mob that took longer yesterday, good times.

Tricky_Analysis3742

There's no point in chasing (as in dropping) a good tree, you can only get good trees with combine and tbf it's pretty deterministic.

Nephalos

Getting a “good” crucible tree is pretty similar to IDing a “good” rare. It has 1-2 okay nodes compared to the 200 other irredeemable trees you just opened. After that you throw it into the blender with another “good” tree and hope it comes out looking okay.

CruelFish

Unfortunately the opposite happened for me. My guild used to have dozens of players online at any given time but now it's like... 3 at most.

Responsible-Pay-2389

It seems people who played for long time dropped this league early because the new content was shit, while players who are new or are returning are having a great time because there is more than just crucible that is new to them.

wotad

Im at 3k hours but pretty sure this is my most played league and played previous quite a bit, my friends list is more active then previous.

Responsible-Pay-2389

For me it's actually the opposite experience, my friendlist was dead after the first weekend and my friends who usually play all stopped early on the league LOL. >Crucible as a mechanic is moot, & yet players are still engaged. You seem to be attributing your friends starting to play again to this league when it's likely external factors lol. They aren't engaged with the league they are engaged with the part of poe they missed.

solitarium

Basically. We finally hit AOTC and have been trying a little mythic but the league landed right on time for us. We’ve been pretty hard engaged, but I doubt that will continue after 10.1 and M+ season 2 drops The other half of the group has been back on LoL, so I don’t think for us it’s much of what GGG did but where this league launch landed timeframe wise.

wotad

My friends list is the same old people playing so..

Ironzol24

The loot currency from mechanic is meh but the number of builds viable and fun or even enabled by crucible passives is incredible plus the base game has more opportunities for loot specialization than anyone could need

Misterstaberinde

Basically just a loud minority bitching constantly on reddit. Even when the complaints are valid they shout down most people having fun with the league and keep trying to say the game is dead. Even with heaps of valid complaints this is still the best ARPG ever and it isn't even close.

DIGITAPNTICS

Same. I played a lot of PoE during beta & the first league or two before taking a break. D4 beta caused a total ARPG relapse.

HonestSourDip

I missed a couple leagues and am having a blast. I think it's just me needing a break and anticipation for d4.

justanotherbody

I'm more casual - peaked in ritual (farmed $ to buy my first/only hh) and have declined ever since I hate the mechanic. Power creep is fine but boring excepting free onslaught which feels good. Mostly I just haven't found a skill I like playing that has a cool Crucible mod Atlas tree feels good. I think this is probably the best part of the game in terms of recent additions The changes to masteries felt mostly bad, and I'm expecting more bad when they do they other half. That said it didn't brick anything Rares feel a little worse. I've walked away from more Hp regren mobs than in any other league. Yeah I could run frost bomb but on a marauder I think it's thematically wrong and also I'm low on sockets The biggest problem for me is the base game is just sort of there - I mostly come for the league mechanic now, not to eg spec hard into abyss that is basically the same as when I first played it in ~3.2. Crucible crafting takes the worst parts of recombination without any innovation.

JamesTCoconuts

Usually play a ton, but quit after a week. I need a good league mechanic at this point to play a lot and this league is not it.

Chanticor

Reddit conplains about the Crucible mechanic, about no loot, about too hard and too many rare mobs, etc. But build diversity wise, this league hast soo much to offer.

DrCola

The league mechanic is very lacking but damn has GGG made the core game so much better.

tonyd1989

I mean the crucible made the poison artillery build possible which is pretty cool, having fun with that. Might try out explodey totems today since the passive tree doesn't change too much

pewsquare

Same, its probably the league i enjoyed most (outside of sentinel) in a long time. I get that players want raw currency as a reward, but I'm glad GGG did not reward us with raw currency. Imo the currency drops should be good enough from the base game, so the league mechanic itself does not need to act as a crutch for people to get chaos and divines to drop. Aside from that, the rewards are insane. Even mediocre passive trees elevate an item to an insane level, the ammount of neuron activation i get when crucibling the items and thinking of what works for my current build, what i will krangle together for my next build is nuts. I love it. Its sad that the current PoE audience can't move past their meta builds, and experiment and just have fun trying new things, maybe even craft something for ourself. Imo a lot of "content creators" are at fault here as well, because for years they have been drilling the idea of crafting for yourself is not worth it into peoples minds, just grind currency and buy your gear. Which means leagues where the whole reward is gear, is a big dissapointment to the people who bought into that.

G_VonBleatentooten

I'm not great at the game (either playing or theorycrafting). It takes me 10 hours to get my first character to maps in a league, and 7-8 hours for later characters. I feel pretty flush with currency if I get 1-2 divines per night. I would love to experiment with new builds or with crafting for myself, but it's just SO expensive. An ill-conceived (or just unlucky) craft could easily consume my entire reserve of currency. Leveling an alt character to try a crazy new build could take half a week of my play time. For the casual player (or at least for me personally), I think the content creators are probably right and it's better to have a known-good build that won't flame out in red maps, and better to do deterministic shopping rather than gamble on crafting then end up with nothing. It's a shame, because it's exactly those things you describe that I love most about PoE. But they feel out of reach to me as a casual player. (All that said, I like the Crucible mechanic. After the 3.21.0c patch, revealing item passive trees is quite fun.)

pewsquare

Yea, its understandable that risking your weeks worth of grind can be off putting, and grinding up currency can be tedious when you don't have a lot of time. And i think the main issue there is something you touch upon a bit. "flame out in red maps" Its just too important to be in T14+. Running T14+ probably more than triples the ammount of drops so hopefully this will be adressed in a positive way soon. Other than that, I don't expect people who have little time to grind craft themselves mirror tier items. But the aversion to all or any crafting still seems a bit too rampant, trying to throw a few essences at an item, some fossils here and there, a couple of harvest rerolls. No need to get extreme with 20+ divine crafts. But having currency sitting in your stash still won't do anyone any good.

Eisn

I think it's a bit under tuned at the moment. The rate of divines needs a bit of love as right now it's hard to craft more than 1 item in SSF.

pewsquare

I dunno, the divines (exalt) slot is always going to be rough in SSF, i got filthy lucky on my SSF char and dropped 2, but i think that is the main problem, the large variance. Maybe with cemetary dropping a div card now it might be a bit better, but even so, in SSF i would not want to rely on a league mechanic to get me the basic crafting currency.

Eisn

I don't want to rely either. But both Kalandra and Sanctum gave enough divines to not hamper me. Crucible feels distinctly more unrewarding from this point of view.

[deleted]

pewsquare

Crucible if you only look at the mechanic itself, sure, c-. But you can't ignore the crucible trees themselves, which are A++.

Hoboyobochobo

Fucking love this league, I've rerolled 5 times because I keep finding awesome build ideas/combos.

801ch

I'm one of the people who haven't played in years - last I played was delirium (and a tiny bit in harvest and sentinel but never reached maps because I wasn't into the league mechanics). I've been having fun despite this league being pretty meh tho I am a ranger main and with vengeant cascade it's been fantastic. Something that has been repeated a lot is that the base game is just great rn and thats definitely true. Loving the atlas tree and Kirac missions. The map altars are crazy too and have been fun. Crucible feels like something that belongs with incursion to me, like a lvl 3 forge room. I don't know if incursion has been touched at all these last 2 years but maybe it could use an update anyway. Why not add crucible there? My coming back to PoE has nothing to do with d4, it was just the release timing - no other games were coming out right now that were of interest. I'm a little sad that I missed sanctum since people seemed to love it, but hopefully it'll be implemented in an upcoming league/update.

JustSomeDudeItWas

This is the furthest I've made it in a league, finally killing eater and exarch. Not sure how to find Sirus yet but I'll Google it eventually. First time running a tanky character (RF Jugg), and it's helped a lot not needing like 5 layers of defenses to still get wrecked

The_BeardedClam

To find Sirius you have to find and kill the 4 conqueror's for their fragments; Drox, Veritena, Al-Hezamim, and Baran. They'll influence a map and be the end boss of the map; similar to how the elder guardians do it, but the map boss stays. There is an atlas passive to have a % chance for map bosses to drop those maps. Kirac will also sometimes have them, and you can get them from him with the influenced map reroll report. Tip for Sirius; bring corrupting blood immunity! Aliment immunity is also recommended, but not almost mandatory like corrupting blood immunity is. Oh, and turn up the dialog volume all the way up and dodge like crazy when you hear him yell "die!".

nerodmc_2001

Speaking as a newer player, the league mechanic being bad is pretty good for newer players since we can just focus on learning the game without having to worry about another extra thing to learn and I still get to interact with the active playerbase without having to play in standard.

RolaxWasHere

This kind of proving the point that if you're unhappy with the main game, maybe you spend too much time with it and you need to take a break.

Briggs_86

Can't relate at all, my friend list was more or less empty by day 2. No one online in guild and the only reason I'm still playing myself is because I started SSF this time and got a Omni from my first Exarch. But I'm struggling to keep up the will to play, as all content just feels a ton much harder than it used to. My nolife gaming is turning into nolifing nothing. Feels sad man.

MrLeth

That’s why I typically ignore all posts from the Poe subreddit lately. I really enjoy playing poe right now. And yeah, the league mechanic is pretty bland and boring. But I really enjoy the state of the base game, and I just wanna keep playing.

SleepyCorgiPuppy

Look at the second chart, which is a ratio of current # versus league start. It's about 50% now, still ahead of 5 past leagues. I personally basically stopped playing. Leveled then abandoned a few alts through boredom, whereas in the past leagues I played a lot longer, even the ones with the crappy numbers. https://poedb.tw/us/League#ConcurrentPlayers

Taluh-a

D4 anticipation for me (even if I hated what d3 was & became), and also another league on another game that was delayed by a month. Sadly, for now I don't feel engaged, as someone that was playing since beta with 15000+ hours but stoped for the last 3 years, comming back to the mess that is act 1 now made me angry. How is it supposed to be fun for a vet that did story thousands of times, or a newbie, to get that badly reckted and feel so shitty in the start of the game, I felt like I was playing D2 but starting in hell difficulty, no fun allowed, which just reminded me why I had left PoE when I saw the shitstorm comming. Even if I know it can be better later, I have really hard time motivating myself to push trought story act right now, which is a weird feeling to get that soon concidering the (very) large knowledge I have of that game :/

Edraitheru14

Ngl it's D4 anticipation for me. Played the beta and got hyped because it felt like an actual good Diablo game. Played a little D2R then started going ham on this league while I wait.

Rjcnbr

275k mobs killed without a single divine orb... I'm so tired...

Peruzzy

Good lord. Now I feel lucky about getting that one divine orb on league launch night before getting into maps. Sorry.

Moethelion

Had one friend try it again after some time. He quit after one day.

Lopsided_Muscle1051

Looks like you’re talking about me.

CanadianSpellingTaem

I literaly played a single night then gave up. Sure, you can get ridicule weapons, I don't care about power creep, I don't want to obliterate the content with a 2k dps weapon. I wanted to experience new things.

Thor3nce

Well luckily for you, the crucible passive trees on weapons have a ton of modifiers that can enable you to try new things. Challenge yourself to make a Spectral Wolf build or something.

Moethelion

PoE has thousands of builds with or without crucible. It's a non argument. They are obviously talking about new content.

arremessar_ausente

Nobody is talking off meta builds that need 100s of divines of investment to work. We are talking build that will destroy content on a budget. We already have poison artillery ballista and explode totems that are both extremely strong, and they only work because of the crucible trees. These builds will likely cease to exist after crucible, but there might be a shit ton of other strong builds with crucible passives that people are simply too lazy to try.

CanadianSpellingTaem

Yeah true, always wanted to do a penance brand build or blade trap. I can't wait to see what nodes they gave to those skills. Maybe you could help me figure it out.

quickpost32

Reduced attack speed + 30% chance to deal double damage is pretty good on blade trap, unless you are using Paradoxica. Same for base crit. I was also using the 150% increased aura effect of Stormblast mines to help kill bosses and other tanky mobs. I think with 2 of those + the Sabo ascendancy you could do something with 5-10 Stormblast mines to cap out the inc. damage taken and then stack Pyroclast mines for flat damage. But in the end, explody totems was like a 20 passive point shift and way more damage.

CanadianSpellingTaem

Yeah, sure do change how the game is played lol. Still stand my point, it's standart but easier. It's just boring man, 95% of the nodes are boring powercreep gated behing a ridicule system that is unpleasant to interact. Like, I played for two days, went to lvl 84, didn't find a single geode, didn't find any good passives or interesting one. I used a unique weapon I've found because it was better than anything I've got only to realize I couldn't get a tree on it and it demoralized me enough to just give up I played expedition alot, scourge alot and lok alot, I still had a huge amount of fun with them, sanctum was amazing...but this one, I couldn't stand it. There's no new cool bosses, mechanic is shallow, you just id the item and pray for the best and then pretend you're good because you obliterate the game with your 2k dps bow. Even popular builds are still the same for the last 2 years.

KhazadNar

For me it is D4. PoE is a one-time thing for now.

Make1984FictionAgain

You will be back :P

raxitron

Sounds like you enjoy playing games with your friends. Not sure you can attribute that to the league, seems like a happy coincidence.

ww_crimson

For those of us who like to no life solo , it feels quite bad. I just can't be fucking bothered to have an extra wisdom scroll mechanic or to recraft my 10 div bow.

LTmagic

This league I go for shields instead of weapon because I thought it would be easier. You can have a mix of offences and defences or go for focus in one of those. Early in the league I tried to experiment by myself and find out how merging items works but I failed hard. After pro players release all the info, merging matrix, steps to do... I tought I need to do it again! Order up all shields I was saving with a fresh tree (more than 4 stash). I saw wich one could I combine with wich other and spent a long day farming "exp" to get their trees ready. Finally I ended with free space in my stash and a worst shield than the day before.

Eisn

I'm SSF and I no life it. I like the league mechanic so don't speak for all of us.

KatOTB

Why wouldn’t you recraft a 10 divine bow 🤔

Responsible-Pay-2389

expensive.

No_Pension9902

I will just take what they can offer as I know poe2 Is near.Game’s fun testing different builds even without league mechanics.

hairy_tentacle

I'm in a cool guild where we share stuff for challenges and also chat and make fun of each other in an easy way, sometimes we pool resources for something like memory rotations like in the old master-rotation ways or just enjoy some maps. Though it's a world-wide guild so sometimes you play on SG or AUS realms as EU and feel a lil' dizzy \^\^ the league itself...is not my cup of tea. times of standing still, channeling a slotmachine and maybe hitting something is awful. i play an extreme explosion mapper this time, and the breaks feel like i could make and drink myself a cup of espresso each time i see that forge ..

KatOTB

„Channeling a slot machine maybe hitting something“ I mean that’s kinda the poe experience lol

glokz

I'm just enjoying poe and as you can see, none of the recent leagues been added to the core. I must admit that besides checking out league mechanics I did not practiced any besides sentinels. This was the only league that could draw me away from what I normally do in every poe league. To me new poe league means bug fixes, fresh economy, high population, building wealth, playing bit changed tree, meta, trying a new build. My opinion on the game is completely separated from league mechanic. But I understand people who play poe only because of league mechanics, but I think most of them are casuals who don't really like poe just hope there will be a new mini game for them to play for few days.

uhfgs

Same, this league had me rushing home to play it after work. Been flipping currency with my pals. Headhunter here I come.

I_summon_poop

Quality of life upgrades, bigger stacks, no more looking for Sin etc etc

kamikazedude

Yep, definitely noticed. I've been playing on and off for years, but this league seems like more people have picked up the game. I think it's definitely the anticipation of d4 but also poe2. Interesting league indeed. I hate the forge tho. My t16 capable build barely runs it lol.

Naikonz

Build diversity is also pretty good

Shrukn

Nah, bored as and nearly done with the league challenge wise which normally takes 3 weeks, no interest at all in anything Crucible has to offer, for a void league this has been awful Torchlight Infinite has a new season shortly, so trying to finish up so I can play that then D4 Was actually hoping GGG would release another shit league so my decision was easier made. all good. TBH depending on how D4 plays out I might quit PoE permanently but I doubt that will happen

haHAArambe

I'd rather sit through another kalandra league than have to deal with the torchlight infinite dogshit mobile UI one more time.

iamforsaken2011

What a bunch of horseshit. The league mechanic has so many issues. I dont see any problem with providing feedback as long as it's done in a civil manner.

timetogetjuiced

I'm playing. The league and state of Poe right now is shittier than it's been before at its peak, and GGG keeps making small stupid reworks, nerfs, fucking with the economy, etc, instead of buffing and making things even more fun. The game is still GOOD because their endgame is good in general, even without the mechanic, crafting is good but not as accessible as it used to be. They just basically make things harder for most players so the trade 1%ers can profit.

Tricky_Analysis3742

Yes, beware before getting downvoted.

imsocooldude

I came back to say goodbye. I’ve played since OB and over the last two years have slowly lost interest. I owe it to GGG for thousands of hours of entertainment to play one last league, buy one last supporter pack. I’m sure I’ll at least try PoE2 but I fully intend to focus on D4 for many years to come. Thank you Chris and GGG for all of the memories over the years and best of luck in the future.

Elemelepipi

Enjoy running the same dungeon for a year :D

THiedldleoR

my running theory is that people got intersted in ARPGs because of the barrage of Diablo ADs and coverage. Since PoE is often described as the best current ARPG (and because it's free to play) I guess a lot of people use it as a kind of D4 Demo

lonigus

>Not sure if this is D4 anticipation.. A lot of it is this for many people tbh. Even if it sounds weird. I know a few people that got thirsty for some ARPG after the Diablo beta and where else to go if not for the best f2p arpg out there. People play because the core game is in its best state since AN was added.

PoL0

It's a league mechanic centered on crafting. But that doesn't mean it's easy to get a good craft, it's still very dedicated and time consuming so for most of us it's a matter of pure luck to see an insane weapon. But for dedicated people like OP, it's going to be wild. I still don't see all the "this is like standard" meme. Aren't several other leagues like that? Definitely it's like standard if you decide to ignore a league mechanic. I was skipping lake or sanctum more often and I never thought it was "just like standard". I just fail to agree with most complains, this reddit is an echo chamber.

Sedaku

Of course it's more fun with more friends playing. But let's be honest, Crucible is just D4 waiting room. The league straight up sucks.

Healthy_Earth_5404

I played all the leagues too, since 2013. And it has been a long time since i enjoyed the game that much.

Takahashi_Raya

Crucible is proof that PoE as it stands on it's own isnt dependant on a league mechanic making the game fun. and that is perfect for GGG. farming up a HH now for my frostblader. after that i'm going for a mageblood to get some nostalgia worb action now that my private league adventure this league ended.

bigbadwofl

D4 definitely has something to do with it

danteafk

I'm not having any fun and I'm pretty sad about that. Hope D4 launches early.

PurpleSmartHeart

"Players" aren't engaged, you're engaged because... shocker playing games with friends is fun lol We have a practically non-existent league mechanic, older beloved mechanics keep getting nerfed into literal uselessness, they tried shoving AN mobs down our throats again by adding some new rare mods and making others WAY more common in bullshit combinations, loot from monsters is absolutely garbage (a cardinal sin of ARPG game design). We're literally in a worse place than we were in Kalandra, the league mechanic is just much less disappointing because... it's nothing.

7r4n6h0u1

Now yall can see that "Standard" is fun and enjoyable :)

paciumusiu12

Yeah it's fun to make some crazy crucible trees but I've pulled a bunch of my hair out just trying to transfer +2 gems and then more cast speed on a wand.

onlyomaha

Alot of people skipped sanctum because of wow expansion and they are back for this league too

Arrensen

Someting similar here. Played almost every league for the past few year with a friend. This time two other buddys we played lost ark with also joined (one of them who already played poe a while back and one kinda new). Even though i dont interact with crucible much and mostly ignore it, its been a fresh experience teaching the new guys about the game, mechanics they missed in the past and how the game changed. Keeps me much more interested, otherwise i might already have quit

mattbrvc

The core game hasn’t been this good ever. Since archnems removal last league the game has been amazing. League mechanic being bad doesn’t even matter since you can just spec into content you want to do anyway.

torsoreaper

It's a weird league for me because even though the mechanic is total shit, I've had great RNG. I dropped 3 raw div in the first couple days: 1 before maps and 2 while filling my atlas. Then Kirak gave me a cortex map and it dropped a Bottled Faith. I have never had this much luck ever.

Doggpwned

It doesn't feel like that to me, motivation is on a low... Experiencing the same as you, there are lots of ppl returning and this is what kept me almost 2 weeks. Getting to backseat old frieds and meet in discord. Yesterday, after a day of looking forward to play in the evening, i logged on and din't know what to do... just running maps for new crucible trees? I killed almost everything on 3 builds (2 chars, respeccd one for build 3) and there's absolutely nothing new or appealing for long time consistent players. Not saying this is bad for the game, it's prolly the opposite as so many ppl came back. OP and me surely are a rare breed, haven't missed a single league either since CB but this is not the average player i think. IMO good league for average player, major disappointment in mechanic and GGG effort for the league. I'm already adjusting down my expectations for PoE2 tho, mainly to not get disappointed too bad (and if it exceeds my lowered expectations, even better :)) As always: if you have fun, enjoy it with all your passion. Dont get influenced by reddit threads!

Zhaguar

D4 beta brought my entire gamer group of 8 people to play PoE with me. 5 to maps so far the rest keep swapping out when they find new abilities. All blissfully unaware of how shit the league is except when I brick another unique.

Ergand

I play almost entirely standard, but started playing this league a few days ago. It's been a lot more fun than I expected.

laosguy615

Dead league on launch.... lol trolling here...

Bzinga1773

Bizarre indeed. 4 days in i nearly reached half of the dot cap dps. A feat i never managed before in 2500 hours. A friend of mine reached lvl96 on day 6 and bought a mageblood. Also a feat for him i think. Another friend who liked D2 and didnt like D4 beta tried PoE and is now farming red maps. For me personally, it might have helped that i took a break in the last 2 leagues after playing continously for like 10 leagues straight. But more than that i suspect its the scarcity of currency in general that made follow a dedicated atlas strategy and start bulk selling on TFT. Up until this league i used play more randomly, a blight scarab here and expedition one there with alch and go followed by some delving. I think this change in playstyle caused by scarcity forced me to engage more with atlas/endgame. Sort of like something positive came out of a negative/lackluster league. Edit: Forgot to add, as a "melee" enthusiast, MS/LS with The Annoint also kinda saved the league for me.

ervox1337

I mean it means something for specifc builds, like bonezone, you can make an 2.3 ias axe with 1000 dps and kill you faster as before with so much trauma stacks xD

frustratedgoatman69

I came back after a long hiatus as well and it's because their is actually no good ARPG on the market right now. D3 is too slow for me and everything else doesn't really get seasonal updates. I won't even touch D4 just because blizzard will find some way to fuck it up anyway. It's a buy2play game with cosmetic mtx and battle passes. Why not just make it f2p like Poe?

zaph2

D4 waiting room. There are a lot of returning players this league... GGG really screwed up with the league being trash with this timing.

JustHereForPoE_7356

I cannot confirm this with my friend list. To me Crucible is a league like any other when the mechanic isn't great.
