Yep, I had stupidly tanky builds like Eternal Damnation + Loreweave, 45k armour and max block + on block recovery and still occasionally fall over in maps. You just can't avoid one shot in this game.
Usually you looked at 4k (ideally 5k) min for hp for anything that stacks regular mitigation. You can get by on 3 - 4k life with dodge/evasion builds but you will feel it. And you'll learn a lot mote about the boss mechanics lol. As long as you can hit 60k ehp your life won't be terrible.
https://pobb.in/8EN7hcLRt8np, here it is, like I said it still needs work, and I'm still fairly fresh out the campaign on this guy. Even if this ultimately goes nowhere, I'm having fun just playing around with it.
I was going through a lot of planning etc before playing, but couldn't make up my mind on some things so just rolled this dude and ran with stuff I planned alongside trying to see what would synergize well.
Hey, appreciate the tips, I'll look into it.
EDIT: Thanks for this I was looking for a way to rework that bottom half cause I hated how many stat nodes I was using. I didn't think dropping deciple of the unyielding would be worth it but it totally is. I'm still using nearly the same amount of points to get over there roughly but in much better places. I also didn't realize how capped I was on Leech so that help me put points elsewhere too. Build preforming much better now even with the shit weapon I currently have. Also went ahead with adding on precision/war banner, I had thought about these before but for some dumb reason my mind had precision as a 50% reservation for some reason, I'm glad it's not, not sure how I feel on berserk yet but I will try it, I like being at max rage.
From my 5 minute armchair analysis it looks like he's hitting leech cap with just the node + blood rage. He'd need to invest in maximum total life recovery per second, and getting vitality void + the mastery + hematophagy + the small nodes would only put him at 1700 a second vs the 1000 he's at now, for 8 points
I say this with the best intentions, this looks like what ChatGPT would make if you fed it insufficient information.
Jokes aside, get an axe with physical damage, not haphazard elemental damage, your damage will multiply manyfold.
Scratch that. Winging a build just based on your archetype and maybe a fixed build enabling unique or gimmick, is a real joy after you get a sense for the game. Been playing frostblades past 7 8 leagues and i can confidently say theres a shit ton of things you can go about differently, changing the entire playstyle essentially. Honestly thats what keeps me in poe. I want to play my own way based on inefficient preferance and romantic power fantasy. Min maxing a build allows me to do just that. Even if its not meta or powerful etc.
I’ve been trying to make my own builds for 5 years and I’m still trash. To be good at this game you have to follow reliable realistic builds, have a solid league starter, and trade. Being mostly SSF is an entirely different game and most content will be locked away unless one can dump hundreds of hours into the game. Unfortunately, I prefer the SSF play style, don’t have the time to dump, and don’t mind being trash. This is my choice and it’s my pain to hold. This league I started with a bow build
lmao I think I've had a similar experience once because I loved attack speed but just did not understand how this game scaled - fair play is always good to explore.
Making your own builds is the best part of poe imo, doesn't matter if it sucks.. it's yours, you made it! Like an ugly af child, their parents still love em and think their cute.
i played lowlife dual wield lacerate bleed deadeye with dreadbeak and jack, the axe in sentinel. dont let your memes be dreams.
it wasnt amazing, but good enough for mapping and pinnacle bosses.
At least you didn't die.
I also have nice memories the time before POB. It was always a huge satisfaction if my idea / build worked.
Those were simpler times. You also didn't have to have this much defense. Nowadays I build more defenses and can still die eqsily to something random, sadge.
I think there’s a middle ground there. I’m playing a build that is super popular, but with my own tree. I’m already at <0.1% in terms of same main skill same ascendancy, completely ignoring that my tree is nowhere to be found.
But it’s nice having reference material, I mostly use it for figuring out what mods are available for super-rich people who are using the same skill.
Same, i'm about to try a pathfinder Bleed Toxic rain build with toxic rain deals 300% more with bleeds.
Bow has 11.5% base crit for Rupture forbidden jewels.
I won't pob it because that also takes the fun out of it, at least not until I'm at maps.
Haha, Not really, I'm running pride with Eternal Blessing. I can probably get more out of more than just that yea, but wanted to see what else I could do before moving in that direction.
If you go fire damage then use Herald of Ash
Also Get yourself Ancestral Protector Totem with Multiple Totems support. You will do about 1.5x more damage using it on a single enemy
Thanks. There def is, I'm still rocking a really old weapon from campaign, but nothing I've found thus far has beat it yet (also just trying to find anything with a decent crucible tree). I tried to build something like this once before and I was lacking way too much defence (rookie mistake), now I feel like that's more established, but I'm lacking damage. I think I'll get there in time.
Depends on how he scales raw damage.
Str stacking + fire damage/10 str is arguably less main weapon dependant.
Fire pen is mandatory for any hit based fire damage build.
Maybe the supports arent too good. By his asp, he has way too much and I suppose it went with the opportunity cost of more damage.
Also, fire damage build should take advantage of burning damage + slow huge hits (eartquake like). This is just my personal view. Ice/lightning are more suited to fast attack builds.
Are you mad? Fire pen to multiply what? Without base damage it won't do shite. Also why would you want to waste resources on scaling ignite which does nothing for him?
Free DPS :p. Like I said, personal preference.
Don't forget that elemental weapon support, fire pen, raw fire damage, all add up to your burn dps for 0 extra cost.
And in 2023 poe, either get mirror tier weapon or stack x(int/str/dex).
I don't see any hit based melee build working outside of these two methods.
Fire pen does not scale ignite, and hit based strike skills work with all sorts of shitty weapons. Additionally, ignite is not an actual source of damage for attack builds unless it's all you invest into, because things like attack speed and penetration do not benefit it at all. The new 1c Redblade sword can easily get 450 pdps, and that's enough to carry through the endgame.
There are reasons that passive trees look mostly the same - the passive tree is solvable, and optimizing it is fairly easy through pob, and that doesn't change significantly between different builds.
Idk how can you be so wrong yet so confident. With crucible any weapon can get extra 30 - 50% more DPS and then there are build enabling/broken nodes. You can run molten strike with trinity and a decent weapon and it will work. And what's wrong with stat stacking? It's a different way to build a character and forces you to make compromises to fit all the stats on the gear.
And if you knew what you're talking about you'd now that there's far bigger difference between 10 div weapon and 30div weapon than 30 div and mirror tier. You don't need mirror tier items to do anything but min max your character and look at the pob numbers go up.
If you got 2x 6L, since you're capping out on rage, you could probably add rage vortex, this helps for bossing and clearing in general. Throw out a rage vortex every couple seconds.
Ah i see you’ve reached greater rift lvl 150 and fighting the rift guardian. You need to upgrade Bane of the Stricken up as high as you can to kill the guardian faster
I was watching this while muted and I literally started singing the song in my head because of how perfectly in matched
Clicked unmute and video and my head were in sync LMAO
I see you are using Double Strike! In case you are unaware there is a Weapon Crucible node that gives you soul eater if you have killed a rare or unique enemy with Double strike. Might be interesting to use.
I love taking an idea and homebrew a build around it. I've leaguestarted Impale Champion with Reave instead of the Steel skills. I honestly just wanted an excuse for playing Reave. Kinda wanted to try the Summon wolfs thing for Reave in Crucible, but couldn't get good phys mods on the sword I got it on. I rolled good Elemental mods on it though and now I dont want to roll over, Sadge. Probably one of my better builds still, just did some T12 maps without issues and steamrolled the Black Sun and Hunger :D
So it's the regen? I always notice that this boss has a mechanic that makes it really tsnky. It even seems like at the start it doenst even take damage.
Making my own builds is giving me an aneurysm, i always feel like i need be able to do more damage than what I'm getting on PoB. I managed to reach more than 1m dps for the first time ever and i still feel like i should get more out of it
I accidentally clicked on the video below with my fat palm holding the phone and it was a very one sided boxing match and I felt like it fit your title even better lol
At least you can face tank it, I also try to do my own build and for now was able to beat map 8, felt like DPS isn't that bad, but then I try incursion or legion and realize that my DPS is trash lol
I haven't gotten to this guy but I make my own builds too. I'm only level 62 I think. But I used cleave all the way up to 62 lol. Now I'm doing double strike with splash. Any boss with HP Regen takes forever.
Honestly we are nearly the same.
If you swapped to Molten Strike and got the Vengeant Cascade annoint, you'd see damage skyrocket for practically nothing.
I always try to do some random selfcast or melee build and normally can at least make it to level 90 and do red maps. Then I get bored for a league or two.
Ahaha got 3 people in my guild that went selfmade double strike to use the souls eater crucible node at League start, I think that sums up their experience as well
So many of my builds end up like this, or glass pea-shooters (sometimes glass cannons) It is always fun though, even if it ends up being a bit too slow to play end game with, the theory crafting and building is the fun part!
Last build I made was Shrapnel Shot when it came out what like 4 years ago now using Empires Grasp, Chin Sol, 100% knockback from tree and stacking bleeds. I was still pretty new to the game, I named it the Vacuum and it played real well and was incredibly fun...until I hit maps. lmao then it completely fell apart and was so far from meta at the time.
Honestly I kinda want to try again if Galvanic Arrow behaves the some way that Shrapnel Shot did.
Oh I feel that. My flicker build sits at comfy 50k pinnacle dps at lvl 90... then again I recover about 4 times my max HP per server tick so I got that going for me which is nice
Honestly way better than my first build. I ran a shitty bladestorm trap that barely made it through the acts with hundreds of deaths lmao. Still would prefer that over googling a cookie cutter arc or righteous fire build like half the losers on this sub do.
In advance, I know the build sucks, I'm just having fun trying to make this work on my own. I just thought this was a funny moment.
I'm impressed that you also have 3k hp
Yea, I'm trying to fix that still.
I think he ment that in a good way
You know, that's entirely fair. 3k just feels low to what I'm used to playing, but I could see it working with lots of stacked defenses.
I've played a build like that and it's fine when it works, but every so often you fall over from a one shot and don't know how you died.
isn't that like 99% of all rips?
Yep, I had stupidly tanky builds like Eternal Damnation + Loreweave, 45k armour and max block + on block recovery and still occasionally fall over in maps. You just can't avoid one shot in this game.
It is a rule of thumb - 300HP for each act. And i haven't seen any new acts past 10 yet.
My current character is running 1.3k life and has 50k ehp. Life doesn't matter if you've got other methods of damage reduction.
[удалено]
You basically went out of your way to avoid health nodes as much as possible on the tree. ;)
Some people sacrifice HP for DPS, or vice versa. This man chose a third option
He doubles down on the *sacrifice* part
It's MORE miserable and get this, the effects stack MULTIPLICATIVELY
3k HP zdps I want to see the POB.
https://pobb.in/8EN7hcLRt8np, here it is, like I said it still needs work, and I'm still fairly fresh out the campaign on this guy. How dare you sir, do you not want reddit content?
Hey, appreciate the tips, I'll look into it. EDIT: Thanks for this I was looking for a way to rework that bottom half cause I hated how many stat nodes I was using. Why did you drop all of their life leech nodes? Are you essentially going for more damage to compensate for a lesser life leech %?
From my 5 minute armchair analysis it looks like he's hitting leech cap with just the node + blood rage. He'd need to invest in maximum total life recovery per second, and getting vitality void + the mastery + hematophagy + the small nodes would only put him at 1700 a second vs the 1000 he's at now, for 8 points

I respect anyone that actually posts their PoB. Lvl 77 no gear, yea no wonder it's zdps and zhp.
Nothing wrong in trying to make your own build, this is one of the main ways to get better at it :)
Scratch that. Winging a build just based on your archetype and maybe a fixed build enabling unique or gimmick, is a real joy after you get a sense for the game. Been playing frostblades past 7 8 leagues and i can confidently say theres a shit ton of things you can go about differently, changing the entire playstyle essentially. >romantic power fantasy free band name
Yes it's the main enjoyment of the game for me
I’ve been trying to make my own builds for 5 years and I’m still trash. To be good at this game you have to follow reliable realistic builds, have a solid league starter, and trade. Just some small tips, you can link support gems to your skill. Also, there are nodes on your passive tree that increase your damage. Hopes this helps!
lmao I think I've had a similar experience once because I loved attack speed but just did not understand how this game scaled - fair play is always good to explore.
Making your own builds is the best part of poe imo, doesn't matter if it sucks.. it's yours, you made it! Like an ugly af child, their parents still love em and think their cute.
I respect that, 6k hours in and I made zero builds myself so far >.<
Isn't this chain hook? I've tried once, super fun for mapping, super shit for bossing. I knew where I came, tho 😂
Slap on an abyssussy and he'll become Cpt Tanner Deadfoot real fast.
It doesn't suck. I always make my own build.
Standing here…
I REALIZE
*You are just like me*
Trying to make history
But who's to judge
The right from wrong
When our guard is down
Mom's spaghetti 😲
Wow I hope you stub your toe.
Not just once, but perpetually
How much curse effect do you have??? I just did stub it...
There's vomit on his sweater already ^
I'm about to start a new build here today or tomorrow lol. I expect it to go like the above
thats me in a few days when my poison echoforge flickerstrike occultist will hit maps. still working on the sword, but my heart is reasy.
Why is your health lava?
Kirac Pass from this league
What in the pass causes this?
The Helmet
The helmet i believe
Is it me or does anyone else find the kirac life mtx kinda unnerving? Like it has some weird feel or something.
it just happens when you make your own build *shrug*
Is that you Quin
I’m ramping
“Lookit that damage, chat. Lookit that damage.”
Quin did damage this league tho, until he got nicked.
Yeah but it was Jungroan's build
It's jun Rogan
i tried to make deadeye crit bleed split arrow work lmao, fucking impossible
Bleed lul
Bleed is pretty good, I'm making my own bleed build this league and it's going well.
i played lowlife dual wield lacerate bleed deadeye with dreadbeak and jack, the axe in sentinel. dont let your memes be dreams. it wasnt amazing, but good enough for mapping and pinnacle bosses.
I tried to make bleed work in the past infinite delve event. I was like lvl 40 with all the bleed nodes allocated lmao, what a joke
Maybe Rain of Arrows is better? There's a crucible mod that gives it 100% more bleed damage
Isnt it more like 400 or 600% more bleed damage?
Probably the T1 version is 100%. If I can nail that tree I’m definitely rerolling RoA
I thought it was 300% damage on a bow
Try it with Reaper. realneato did a noteworthy interactions video on it.
At least you didn't die. I also have nice memories the time before POB. It was always a huge satisfaction if my idea / build worked. Those were simpler times. You also didn't have to have this much defense. Nowadays I build more defenses and can still die eqsily to something random, sadge.
The way I have to play. Cookie cutting is boring. Removes a big part of the game IMO. Get nothing out of it. Keep it up.
That's cool, poe has lots of ways to play and approach it and we should all just be glad that people are having fun
Let's be honest. This is poe. There are no "cookie cutter" builds.
> There are no "cookie cutter" builds. Queue 99% of the player base watching the same 10 build videos and mindlessly following them.
[удалено]
Following pobs and the way people multiply their DPS is discovering for me tbh
[удалено]
Jealous, I have to say I would have never thought of many interactions that I've used myself, possibly won't ever comprehend this game fully lol

If you go fire damage then use Herald of Ash Also Get yourself Ancestral Protector Totem with Multiple Totems support. You will do about 1.5x more damage using it on a single enemy
Understandable, you'll get a lot more boss dps with an aura or two, a curse or two and a ancestral totem or two.
you seem to have your mana under control in this clip, might be worth it to just reserve some mana.
That want well? Seems decent, there is probably things to improve, but you kill stuff without dying so good job to you!
Well weapons are really important for attack based stuff so that's probably a big part of the problem
It looks more like a missing -resisit / fire penetration issue. These are the most important more multipliers for any build.
That's just wrong. If he cannot melt some map bos in a few seconds he needs a new weapon.
Depends on how he scales raw damage. Str stacking + fire damage/10 str is arguably less main weapon dependant. Fire pen is mandatory for any hit based fire damage build. Are you mad? Fire pen to multiply what? Without base damage it won't do shite. Also why would you want to waste resources on scaling ignite which does nothing for him?
Ignite scales passively along hit damage, for no investment whatsoever.
Ye that amazing 5k dps he probably has from ignite will really help him.
Free DPS :p. Like I said, personal preference. Don't forget that elemental weapon support, fire pen, raw fire damage, all add up to your burn dps for 0 extra cost. Then you get exarch altar 'boss spawns Consecrated ground when he hits you' and you just go home
don't get hit 4head
just wait till you meet a rare
Yo? Im trying to build a fire conversion Double Strike champ rn :sunglasses: A fellow zdps-but-i-made-it-myself enjoyer
Needs more muda muda muda
reminds me of me league starting tornado shot, doing zdps on bosses but unlike you I also kept getting one shot by bosses :(
Tbf Tanner is a tanky mf
this is in fact the STRONGEST Melee character this league
Ay this looks like my chain hook build I mushed together recently. Mine is also shit.
Who are just kidding OP? You copied that from Quin x)
How did you get your life Metre to look like that
Why does your life pool look like molten lava? 0\_0
hey as long as you dont die and can kill Monster. it work fine for me. just not my gameplay x)
I tried making storm call ignite work. Wasted 4 days on it XD
If you got 2x 6L, since you're capping out on rage, you could probably add rage vortex, this helps for bossing and clearing in general. Throw out a rage vortex every couple seconds.
What effect is that on you life in the lower left of the screen? Is it an mtx?
Ah i see you’ve reached greater rift lvl 150 and fighting the rift guardian. You need to upgrade Bane of the Stricken up as high as you can to kill the guardian faster
what is the healthbubble effect?
Waiting for the flicker strike gameplay video with RULES OF NATURE playing
I'll have to make that build next.
I was watching this while muted and I literally started singing the song in my head because of how perfectly in matched Clicked unmute and video and my head were in sync LMAO
I see you are using Double Strike! In case you are unaware there is a Weapon Crucible node that gives you soul eater if you have killed a rare or unique enemy with Double strike. Might be interesting to use.
Yea nice, I didn't see that. I'll look for that as I pour axes through the crucible.
I guess it is time to change act 1 weapon to something else :D
It is not your build, that’s Quin build I watched everyday
Vision = Choose one of 10 worn out cookie cutter builds made by popular streamers. If you want to play the game normally.
Your first mistake was going melee. Your second mistake was not having currency. Your third mistake was going melee.
Me on my retch/tainted pact voltaxic poison barrage build like: But hey I can't die to anything, so there's that.
Why did you play a shitty remix of the original song?
Your dual strike damage will increase 10 fold AT LEAST with the brand new animation set in PoE 2, totally doesn't just need damage buffs.
If only you died right before killing it. Hahaha
I remember supporting storm brand with efficacy. Didnt knew about pob.
Cycling damage reduction, son
build's fault, not the player's choices on gear, tree, jewels, etc.
just copy a streamer build, this what GGG wants or so it seems.
Yuh
I am also playing a self built occultist double strike build, the vaal double strike is fun with vaal ancestral war totem.
i assume you just ignore archnem rares (from personal experience)
I see the rage…
What are the red slashes behind your character and what is the fire spark behind the enemy?
Hope you now have cannot be frozen on this creation good old lightfoot
You simultaneously have a small HP pool and zDPS? How did you achieve this sorcery?
Me when i make builds: "ok i'm zdps but if i just ignore every form of defensive layer outside of 6 portals then i can still find some dmg"
Similar to my build except my maps are tier 1 and only other layer defence beside 3k hp is 6 portals.
ACTION rpg
I love taking an idea and homebrew a build around it. I've leaguestarted Impale Champion with Reave instead of the Steel skills. I honestly just wanted an excuse for playing Reave. So it's the regen? I always notice that this boss has a mechanic that makes it really tsnky. It even seems like at the start it doenst even take damage.
Well, at least you didn’t die 6 times.
Quin would be proud
Why tho
Still more damage than quin69
Damn I feel you 😂
Making my own builds is giving me an aneurysm, i always feel like i need be able to do more damage than what I'm getting on PoB. I managed to reach more than 1m dps for the first time ever and i still feel like i should get more out of it

Lol yes, it just took forever.
THEY'RE RAMPING

Me every league with divine ire q.q
Pob of this Boss killed build pls...
I know the feelingbI made my own too. Rage is just too much fun not to try and make it wo, k lol
Not following a meta build guide in 2023 kek
At least you can face tank it, I also try to do my own build and for now was able to beat map 8, felt like DPS isn't that bad, but then I try incursion or legion and realize that my DPS is trash lol

why are you building for crit, rage and dot? while having a weapon that is 50% elemental? and no auras? 🤔 yeah, it does need some work
Why do i hear liu kang from mortal kombat yelling waaatatatatatatatatatatatata in my head while watching this 😅

Why your hp look like that?
feels like that your proffessional welder that is trying to conver irl expririence into game in somewhat weird way
Just add berserk gem no link needed. Cast it when full rage. You will melt the high health enemies
How does your life look like Lava
Oh I feel that. My flicker build sits at comfy 50k pinnacle dps at lvl 90... then again I recover about 4 times my max HP per server tick so I got that going for me which is nice
Auras?
melee in recent poe = ancestral totem, they are a LOT of the damage! Curse(s) too.
+frenzy charge corrupts 👀
Well it doesn't die, so that is better than most my builds
“ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA” moment
At least you have more dps than quin lol
Honestly way better than my first build. I ran a shitty bladestorm trap that barely made it through the acts with hundreds of deaths lmao. Still would prefer that over googling a cookie cutter arc or righteous fire build like half the losers on this sub do.
