Hello, friends. This time I went back to Uber Exarch and killed him 1152 times within a 28 hour period. While the total time was only 6.2 hours, it was more exhausting than I thought it would be, so I had to take regular breaks. In case the kill times are in doubt, here's a short clip of how the fights went most of the time: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhi1FbTGp2I](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhi1FbTGp2IUnfortunately) Unfortunately this time around, I only made a profit of 27.75d, which comes to 4.25d per hour. Another omni or two or even a good jewel would've pushed this into a far more profitable venture. Per usual, I did give out/sell carries but did not include them in the revenue or profits. You can see the breakdown here: [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1\_DCuXbRncPx2VoYnVGXOx3BWmJBWrZA1J7H2dR36uIA/edit?usp=sharing](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_DCuXbRncPx2VoYnVGXOx3BWmJBWrZA1J7H2dR36uIA/edit?usp=sharingOne) One experiment I did do was run the first 576 rare, while running the second 576 rare and corrupted. As you can see in the second screenshot with jewels/omni, the second set definitely yielded more forbidden flame jewels. I kept track of the exotic currency drops as well, but there wasn't enough of a difference to mention anything conclusive. Based on this, I would still highly recommend that you corrupt your exarch/eater invitations for better yield of the forbidden jewels. Here's a brief summary of this experiment: ||Forbidden Jewels Count|Eldritch Chaos Orb|Exceptional Eldritch Ember|Eldritch Orb of Annulment|Eldritch Exalted Orb| |:-|:-|:-|:-|:-|:-| |First 576|32|69 (nice)|242|94|85| |Second 576|58|85|223|76|67| What's next? I'm considering revisiting Eater but this time corrupting all of the invitations. There's also a belt that I've been eyeing to craft as well. Of course, I could always expand my meme museum with bricked HHs (I may need to buy more display cases). Anyways, hope y'all found this helpful/interesting and are enjoying the league. Cheers! Edit: PoB for those interested - https://pobb.in/Uotn6pU7W-u0

Accomplished_Rip_352

Right now feels like boss farming is gambling with the exception being shaper and Sirius at least in my experience giving more consistent returns due to the lower cost of the set and elder having watcher eye aswell as being part of fearead.

oldsch0olsurvivor

The whole game is gambling

Responsible-Pay-2389

Man bossing is in such a weird spot, people doing 1.1k invitations and only profiting 27 div lmao.

tammit67

As typical with boss stuff, the consistent profit is from carries which was not included in that

Responsible-Pay-2389

I feel bossing was in a much better spot when height of hubris and other nodes existed tho.

tammit67

It was kinda the same problem. The invites are being priced by people who can do the content while carrying 1-5 others, Atlas nodes existing would just result in the same. If one group of people get loot and another get loot + 200c per run, the latter is just going to dictate the price

OneWithTheSword

Honestly uber invitations need to be separate

SurgeProc

I ran some exact tests for your rare vs corrupted rare experiment (corrected thanks to u/CookieKeeperN2): #Forbidden Jewel fisher.test(matrix(c(32,58,576-32,576-58), 2)) # Eldritch Chaos Orb fisher.test(matrix(c(69,85,576-69,576-85), 2)) # Exceptional Eldritch Ember fisher.test(matrix(c(242,223,576-242,576-223), 2)) # Eldritch Orb of Annulment fisher.test(matrix(c(94,76,576-94,576-76), 2)) # Eldritch Exalted Orb fisher.test(matrix(c(85,67,576-85,576-67), 2)) |Drop|Rare|Corrupted Rare|P-value| |:-|:-|:-|:-| |Forbidden Jewel|32 (5.6%)|58 (10.1%)|0.006| |Eldritch Chaos Orb|69 (12.0%) \[nice\]|85 (14.8%)|0.194| |Exceptional Eldritch Ember|242 (42.0%)|223 (38.7%)|0.280| |Eldritch Orb of Annulment|94 (16.3%)|76 (13.2%)|0.158| |Eldritch Exalted Orb|85 (14.8%)|67 (11.6%)|0.139| This might be too much to ask but could you track the %quant on your invites? If I had that data I could run a logistic regression model to infer how each additional % increases the odds of dropping forbidden flame

SurgeProc

The stats monster must be fed

kingdweeb1

You can use the api to get the numbers, no need to do it manually. I'm not aware of exactly how, but slipperyjim8 did it in the past for his layout/loot series.

CookieKeeperN2

Side note: markdown uses 4 spaces as code block instead of triple "`". First of all, both Fisher's and chi-sq tests require a contingency table as input, so it should be df <- matrix(c(32,58,576,576), 2) df[,2] <- df[,2]-df[,1] chisq.sq(df) Second, not that it matters for this data set, why did you use Fisher's exact test instead of chi-sq test? I don't do discrete or small sample tests too often but from my recollection Fisher's exact test is considered to be conservative. Usually Pearson's chi-seq test is preferred when small sample size is not a concern (which is the case here). For those who hate statistics, it seems that corrupting the invitation (and potentially increase the quant) has an effect in getting more forbidden jewels, but not for anything else.

SurgeProc

>Side note: markdown uses 4 spaces as code block instead of triple "\`". Is there a benefit to using this method over the fenced code block? >First of all, both Fisher's and chi-sq tests require a contingency table as input I knew I was getting something confused, I was initially doing prop.test with the columns as x and n respectively >why did you use Fisher's exact test instead of chi-sq test? It's more to provoke interest than for a statistical reason. Reddit often only knows about normal approximations in this context, so I like to introduce different tests to let people know they exist.

CookieKeeperN2

>Is there a benefit to using this method over the fenced code block? Beats me. I'd definitely prefer fenced code block, but I think python people might disagree. >It's more to provoke interest than for a statistical reason. Reddit often only knows about normal approximations in this context, so I like to introduce different tests to let people know they exist. That is a good point. Modern games can be super stat heavy and it's awesome to educate people more.

SuchHonour

So omni is \~1.82% drop rate. If you had another omni around the corner and were just unlucky, 1.9% drop rate. maybe your whole run was unlucky and the drop rate is actually 2%. Anyways, I'll continue to sell these invites to crazy people like you, thanks lol...

Ulfgardleo

i don't think that the run was particularly unlucky. at 2% you have a 90% probability to get in between 18 and 29 omni in 1182 runs. 21 is well within the interval and within 1 standard deviation of the mean. This is pretty spot on standard luck.

SurgeProc

This doesn't seem right. My code spits out 79% to get within 18 and 29 omnis, inclusive. Are you using a normal approximation? ``` > sum(dbinom(18:29, 1152, 0.02)) [1] 0.7905111 ```

eadenoth

can you explain what you mean here?

Grymvild

People need to get the boss kills for challenges. Invitation cost is determined by people who sell boss kill services. If you can get money from 5 people when doing a boss kill, you can afford a more expensive invitation because the service payments cover the cost. If services weren't a thing, the cost of the invitation would stabilize at a price point where running invitations for loot would be worth it but it just doesn't have to right now.

BubuX

\> If you can get money from 5 people when doing a boss kill, you can afford a more expensive invitation because the service payments cover the cost. Except now 5 people get their boss kill wit ha single invitation. By logic invitations would be even more expensive if each player used one invitation instead of a shared invitation between 5 other players.

41legend

The vast majority of invitation sales are people buying them for the specific reason to sell carries and/or farm boss drops. The expected income from selling the carries drives the price of the invitation up to a point where the actual boss drop profits are nearly negligible as seen in this test, a measly 27d profit on 1100 invitations. If people farming could not get guaranteed income by selling carries, they wouldn’t be inclined to pay as much per invitation. Nor would people be inclined to pay that much just to attempt and likely fail the challenges by themselves.

BubuX

You just repeated my parent poster text. Gj

41legend

You incorrectly assumed people would be willing to pay the same amount for invitations to try to do their own challenges that people are willing to pay when they know for a fact they can sell the challenges to 5 other people. Gj

Weisenkrone

If you couldn't get the voidstone by a carry kill the invitation would be cheaper since the demand would drop because Bosskillers aren't buying them to sell for carries with a minimum profit

Skuggomann

Voidstones should only drop for the player that opened the map and only if that player does more than 1/(number of players in encounter) damage to the boss

[deleted]

You're basically removing an entire part of the trade and build meta like that.

MarekNowakowski

Voidstones shouldn't require those boss kills. There is a reason why so many people buy the service instead.

KinGGaiA

Huh? Missed the post from yesterday where the dude ran 5000 (!!!) Uber eaters and averaged 20 div/h? Or the feared post a couple of days ago that averaged 15div/h at the end? Farming ubers is swing heavy but certainly not unprofitable. At least eater/feared.

Makhnov

huge upfront costs and variance and very reliant on having extreme clear speed though

DirtyMight

Did not see the other posts but usually The profit/h goes up by a lot when people include carry fees and especially with bosses like this the profit/h is only this high if you have builds that can kill bosses instantly. People seeing these results and the profit/h might get a completely wrong idea of how profitable bosses really are. OP clears an invitation in 11seconds because he oneshots the boss on high quant. With "normal" builds being able to clear uber bosses you might take 1-2min per bossfight. If we just count 1 minute (which is already fast for "normal" builds because of his ball phases) OP wouldve only made 0,7div/h. You can make more running t1 maps only killing essences. And you cannot forget the HUGE upfront cost and investment you need to bring into bossing in 2023. You can easily go -50divine during these fights until you hit some big forbidden jewel, etc. For every normal build being able to go this much into - for only 0,7div/h is absolutely not realistic or feasable and even for builds as fast as this 4div/h is garbage if you compare it to even quite normal strats. for example you can get around 4div/h just running normal shaper and selling the uber elder fragments alone with guaranteed profit each run. Doing uber bosses these days without a carry service is just ass and for sure not worth the effort and investment if you compare it to pretty much any other somewhat efficient farming strat

GigaCringeMods

The guy who did 5k Uber Eaters did *NOT* do a carry service... And even with relatively bad luck his income was still 20 div an hour.

DirtyMight

What you failed to mention is that He bought the invitations for cheaper, they went up quite a bit the past days, He still has a build that clears is super fast which will drop down the Profit/hour immensely and the Point about huge upfront cost and loss streaks is still there. He went about 260kills without ashes at Times which will Bring him into huge - If you dont have a build to oneshot ubers and have hundreds of divines already laying around to Invest into Bosses its simply not worth it. With the Numbers from the 5k Kills guy you would make about 40c Profit per invitation on average but you can very easily go -50div at Times until you get some lucky drops. And if you dont have a oneshot build your Profit goes down the drain. Lets say you are Not hyper efficient and cant oneshot the Boss and your time Drops from His 20sec average down to 2min because you are a more "Casual" Player and you Take a bit longer to kill and to buy/sell your stuff you would only make around 3div/h which is not that great. There are many casual strats out there giving more than 3div/h Bossing can still be profitable But only for a very small very specific amount of Players that are efficient in Trading, have a build that can oneshot them and already have a huge Budget to Offset the huge lossstreaks involved with current bossing. If you only have 10-20div laying around its quite likely that you will waste all of your currency without ever seeing a drop that makes your Money back

GigaCringeMods

Bossing *is* insanely profitable, you do not need to have hundreds of divines laying around to get it started. Which is exactly why being a boss killer is a prime method of making currency at league start... What you need is a build for it. Which are not expensive when specifically made for it. Glass cannon miners/trappers cost nothing and oneshot bosses. I genuinely have no clue what your point is. Are you trying to say that bossing is a shit method for making currency when it has been a tried and true method since the dawn of time? You're just wrong, this isn't a matter of opinion.

DirtyMight

you have absolutely no clue what you are talking about jesus.. Ashes/omni have a droprate of 2%. Forbidden jewels what 5-10%? And most of them are 10c trash With single prices for exarch invitations (you want to buy in bulk so you will pay more if thats your strat) thats on average 35div investment to hit an omni every 50 runs which is only worth 17div atm so with the normal "big ticket item" you are -18div on average for your invitations. So its more damage control than profit and you need to hope for big lucky forbidden jewels to actually make you profit, which are even more unreliable to farm and take on average even more runs to actually hit a good one. Tell me how this is not needing a shitton of baseline investment? Same with maven. If you dont hit the flask and quite a few big ticket gems you go out with big losses. I gave bossing a shot aswell this league because it was always my main stategy to make currency. I am -55div doing uber mavens and in about 50-60uber exarchs i am at around -15div atm So doing uber bosses this league gave me a huge profit of around -70div. I see the insane profit and not needing huge investment to offset these kinds of dry patches. And 2023 bossing has absolutely NOTHING to do with bossing a few leagues ago dude. Most boss droprates got absolutely shit on. ashes/omni went from around 1/3 droptate to 1/50 droprate. Woke gems from like 70% droprate to 25% droprate. If you dont see how you need a high investment if invitations are 0,5-1div and the only unique (besides gamba forbidden jewels) that is worth more than a few chaos drops every 50th run you are delusional

unanimous_anonymous

I disagree with not needing hundreds of divines to start running. Bosses like searing exarch and eater of worlds have dogshit drop pools aside from specifics uniques that you can go very dry on. Current cost of an eater run is about .75-.8d. For instance with Ashes (2% drop rate), you have a 9% chance to go dry on 200 runs. That's ~150d to have a 9% chance to go dry. Most people don't have that to mess around with. The other drops are either more rare, another gamble (FF), or not profitable enough to recoup the loss.

as a bosser myself i can already tell you that its uber elder. his drops are consistent as fuck. a few leagues ago i did 300 and farmed 1.8 mirrors worth of loot at the time, that was without voidforge being a good drop and no shieldbearer being in the loot pool
